Chapter Eight: Bad Blood

Imogen and Tabby tell the girls about what happened to them. They have a plan to hijack the blood drive and tie the blood to one of the guys. They also plan to go back to see Crazy Joe.

1999

Tabby's mom finds Angela crying in the bathroom. Her mom tells the girls at the library that something happened to Angela.

Now, Imogen and Tabby are asking Crazy Joe about the 6th signature for Rose Waters. He's obviously seen some things because he warns the girls to drop their investigation.

Noa tells her mother about the girls and their plan. She agrees to help as long as there's minimal risk.

ThAnksgiving Break

Why is Noa telling her mom and (specifically) her boyfriend about what explicitly happened to her friends *cry emoji*

Tabby has to ask her mother for permission to do an assault piece for film class. She doesn't tell her what happened to her, just that it's inspired by Angela Waters.

Mouse wants to know what's going on with her parents, or at least any information on her dad. Her mother refuses to answer and so she does her own digging. She finds a name: Aaron Stevens and her birthday is May 12, 2007.

TuesdAy

The girls are getting people to donate for the blood drive! Let the plan begin.

Tabby's film gets approved by her mother but not from her school. It's not appropriate.

Chip asking Imogen to Thanksgiving??? She declines, but invites him to the soup kitchen instead. It was a tradition with her mom.

Faran is working herself to speed up her recovery but it's not going to be enough.

WHEN IS NOA GOING TO DUMP HER LAME ASS BOYFRIEND ONG

The moms get together and discuss how their children are asking about Angela and what they have learned.

While volunteering at the soup kitchen, Imogen gets a flashback to when Rose Waters was there one time. She had an unpleasant interaction with her mother.

WednesdAy

Blood drive day!

They've done all the collecting they could and have to wait two weeks now.

The girls (including Kelly) make a plan to have a fun night at the club.

Meanwhile, Tabby's mom snoops in her room after recalling the night Tabby came home from the party. She finds the videos of the boys and Tabby tells her they should finally dish things out. It doesn't happen.

ThAnksgiving

Mouse goes to meet her dad and she doesn't expect to find another family with him.

Noa is with her "boyfriend" and finds steroids in his bag.

Tabby is confronted by Tyler's dad and Imogen goes to find the Waters house. Tabby tells her mom what happened after she more or less put the pieces together. Imogen finds more than she bargained for (like Crazy Joe and a corpse) at the Waters residence.

Kelly and Greg are making out and she tells him to call her Karen.

The girls try to confront Crazy Joe but find his body and a note.

That episode wasn't as...as usual but hey we have two more to go!

Chapter Seven: Carnival of Souls

Mouse's mom is next in the A gift line.

1999

She takes Angela into the hall of mirrors and kisses her. When Davie finds them, she says that Angela attacked her.

In present day, Faran's mom is discharged. Imogen and Tabby worry about telling the girls what they learned from Rosewood. And in turn, what happened to them.

MondAy

Faran's mom is in a wheelchair watching TV. Her mother blames her for her accident.

Chip is partnering with Imogen to take care of a fake baby...?

Ash asks Mouse out to the Carnival and she tells Ash that her moms wouldn't let her go. He gets confused as a Carnival is harmless, and that's when Mouse tells him that when she was 5 she was almost kidnapped.

TuesdAy

Imogen loses her fake child, tells Chip about it, and they find it in a closet. He thinks it's a prank and Imogen notices a 'you're a bAd mother' note on the baby. She asks Chip for them to take on the assignment together instead of separately. He agrees and agrees to take her to the adoption agency after school.

Tabby is waiting for Deputy Maroon when Sheriff Beasley talks to her about Tyler. He's missing and he knows he was at her house party. She tells him that she has no idea where he is.

At the adoption agency, Chip lets the agent think that he's the father because Imogen needed the support. They go out to eat after and they have a good time!

Mouse finds Steve at his place of work and tries to turn the game on him. It backfires when he tells her that he knows her mother from a support group. For children that were taken. And Mouse wasn't taken. And it wasn't by a stranger.

CArnival Night

A Chip and Imogen kiss?

Faran and Henry on a Ferris Wheel...

I'm not...shipping these ships? Not wholeheartedly at least.

Rosewood boys crash the carnival, causing a boy fight. Noa doesn't recognize her boyfriend from it.

And Mouse almost gets attacked by A. Her mom tells her that it was her father who tried to take her.

The next day, the girls all get an A text that is a picture of Tyler after A killed him.

Chapter Six: Scars

We pick up with Tabitha talking about what happened over the summer. She was at work with Chip when Greg asked Tabby if she wanted to come to a bonfire. Chip covered for her and initially Tabby was having fun, at first. She got dizzy from drinking and decided she should go home. She doesn't know who could've done something so horrible and wrong to her.

Imogen tells Tabby that she's sorry that that happened to her and discovers she's the first person that Tabby told. Imogen reveals that she doesn't know who it was either (the baby daddy) and that she remembers even less than Tabby does.

They hold each other and Imogen asks Tabby if she'll go with her to meet her possible Angela source.

MondAy

Faran finds out from Kelly that the teacher was going to throw her out of the show after what was said on Halloween.

Mouse is going on a date!

1999

Corey (Faran's mom) is the next mom to receive a gift from A. Back in '99, she lied to Angela and told her that the girls were going to get a tattoo of their initials. After Angela is done, she sees that Corey had left.

Back to the present, Faran reveals to Henry (?) her scoliosis.

Tabby and Imogen meet with Jo - "Crazy Jo" and discover that he was in love with her. He tells them that the group of girls adopted her and turned her into a "high town bitch". Angela's only family was her mother who snapped after her death. She came to the school with a knife and tried to injure a group of boys. She was stopped and sent to the Radley Sanitarium in Rosewood. Sound familiar? So, the girls decide to make a trip to Rosewood to find Rose Waters. However, in the OG PLL, Radley got turned into a hotel.

Mouse tries to break things off with Steve and Noa has to tell Shawn (her boring boyfriend) to back off with her mom.

TuesdAy

Imogen tells the rest of girls about Rosewood but no one can go except for Tabby.

Noa tells her mom that she can have her job back as long as she goes to rehab for 30 days. After a quick sentimental talk, her mom agrees.

In ballet, Faran dances for a recruiter with her mom in the back. Kelly tries to sabotage Faran by revealing her scoliosis, but the recruiter is only further impressed.

The girls make it to Radley (which doesn't look the same :() and are told that they can speak to Eddy Lamb who won't be in until tomorrow. So, Imogen and Tabby decide to stay at Radley until then.

Noa's stupid boyfriend shows up to Noa's house to talk to her mom. He tells her that Noa told him about the drug addiction and how Noa gave up a spot on the team. He tells her to stop dragging her down and leaves.

Faran has dinner with her parents (her dad looks familiar...) and discusses the performance. Her mom proposes that Faran get surgery to get the scar removed from her back. Her father is against it and Faran says she's willing to check it out.

Tabby decides to explore Rosewood while Imogen enjoys a night in.

Mouse is on her bowling date with Ash! It's hella cute until Steve ruins it. She sends Ash to a nacho run and confronts Steve who introduces himself as Mouse's dad. She feigns sickness and asks to be taken home. Mouse was pretending to be Steve's daughter because Rachel was taken from him.

TABBY FINDS A BOOKSTORE AND IT'S CALLED EZRA'S BOOKS. She meets a cute guy and makes out in his car...which the latter is her worst-case scenario and declines to go out with him. He says it's no problem and leaves.

Kelly gets attacked after receiving a text from A. The text asks if she's Kelly or Karen and she screams that she's Kelly.

Faran decides not to have surgery because it's multiple surgeries that will take a long time and be painful. She questions if she even wants it. She tells her mom that how her mom talks to her makes her feel horrible. She doesn't understand why her mom is obsessed with appearances. They have a mini argument and Faran tells her she doesn't care what she thinks anymore.

Imogen and Tabby have breakfast with Eddy and discover that their mothers came to visit Angela's mother under the name A. Waters. Rose was at Radley until it shut down. They find out that Angela was taken advantage of before she jumped off on Y2K night.

From A, Faran finds out that she never needed the surgery for her scoliosis. The doctor advised against it but her mother wanted to go through with it.

Looking through the sign-in book from Radley, Tabby noticed that there's a sixth different A. Waters signature. That obviously means that there's someone else who went to see Rose Waters. They talk about how they feel for Angela and what happened to her before she fell. Imogen talks about the night at Karen's party. That's the night her own trauma happened and that's the night she got pregnant.

The girls make it back in time for Faran's performance where Steve is and Faran has to leave. Her mother was in an accident.

Chapter Five: The Night He Came Home

hAlloween 1999

The girls are doing some Halloween shenanigans. Angela Waters is given a bag of dog poop to throw at someone's door. She says she doesn't want to do it. The girls say it's part of the initiation into the group and give her a pumpkin head mask to conceal her identity. Once she does this and turns back to the car, the girls are laughing and driving away.

Present DAy - October 29th

Why is Mouse the cutest thing ever?

Why does Chip be giving looks?

All of the girls are at Imogen's house looking for anything on Angela Waters. Why is no one going together into the basement?! Also, I know Imogen's intention with all of this but it's putting stress on her and her baby.

There's a trunk in the basement but that's quickly disregarded when Faran finds burnt pages in the fireplace.

Henry confirms that Kelly does in fact have a scar on her foot. Henry's still not convinced but Faran knows that something weird is going on.

Mouse is video chatting with her face covered to an unknown, older man. He mentions the name Rachel, who is a missing child. It seems as if Mouse has tons of copies of missing children. They plan to meet on Halloween.

FridAy, October 30th

Faran tells her dance teacher her discovery which she quickly shuts down. She reveals that Kelly would have those due to personal reasons. She advises her to drop her theory.

To raise enough money to save her house, Imogen proposes a Halloween rager. What could go wrong? Mouse tells them she has to help her moms at the pawn shop but she can come by after with Ash. She does invite him and tells him that she'll meet him there at 9:30.

Tabby gets her last paycheck from Wes and they discuss the events of that dinner she left. He apologizes and tells her it won't happen again. He offers her another job at the theater and tries to entice her into staying. She agrees and will be able to work during the day on Halloween.

Mouse tells her moms that she's going to a party on Halloween. One of her moms is open to letting her go while the other is strict. The final call is for Mouse to be back by 10:30.

October 31st - hAlloween

Imogen is getting the house ready, Tabby is working (gets harassed by Tyler), and Mouse prepares mask/costume options to wear for her meet-up.

Faran meets with Kelly for pizza. She compliments Kelly on her dance skills. Kelly says she's always been good at dance but wasn't able to show it since Karen was always supposed to be the star. Faran seems to believe what her teacher told her after she sees a scar on Kelly's hand. It's from the night of the funeral when she clenched broken glass. Faran invites her to Imogen's Halloween party.

October 31st - hAlloween night

STOP OMG NOT MOUSE BEING AT A MOTEL. They are acting and pretending like she is Rachel (unless she actually is Rachel).

A enters the house from the basement and opens the trunk that Tabby noticed before. It's like a mini A starter pack, let's say. It has pictures of the mothers, Angela Waters, and some masks - including the pumpkin mask Angela wore in 1999.

Mouse is trick or treating and that mask gives me not-so-pleasant Riverdale flashbacks. The man tells Mouse that she can call him dad if she wants which is just gross AF.

Imogen comes face to face with pumpkin A and Henry talks to Faran about the Kelly/Karan thing. She says she'll let it go and that they should be having fun. Pumpkin A sees this.

The man's name is Steve. Mouse is late to the party and he begs her to be able to drop her off. She calls him dad, calms him down, and makes it to the party. She sees Ash who is...drunk. She wants to get high tonight! And blocks her mother's number.

Faran sees Kelly making out with Greg which quickly brings up her theory again.

Chip finds Tabby outside and offers her a drink. He tells her that he told their teacher what happened and now they have an extension so that Tabby can shoot the scenes like she wanted.

"I'll embarrass the hell out of myself for you." - Chip

Faran confronts Kelly about being Karen and warns her that someone could be coming after her. Kelly gets irritated and tells Faran to stay away from her.

Mouse is high and when she goes to get snacks, she's harassed by Tyler. Her friends show up and long story short, Tabby calls him out and punches him in the face. His nose is bleeding and he enters the off-limits bathroom. The lighting is dim and he checks his face in the mirror. Sighing, he uses the bathroom while he's there. A enters the bathroom and kills Tyler.

I don't know why the liars thought that they...would go scot-free without A for once. For now, at least, no one will know about Tyler since A took the body.

SundAy

As Imogen cleans up the mess, she gets more nostalgia from the moments she shared with her mom. It's quiet while she reminices until her friends wake up. She receives a call from someone who has information about Angela Waters and her mother.

Mouse reveals some things about her life that are unknown to us when she returned home. They're mentioning a 'he' and 'years ago'. In her room, she prints out a picture of her with Steve from the night before. She puts it in a box that apparently has multiple other photos with people who aren't her moms.

Imogen asks Tabby what the stuff with Tyler was really about, and she reveals that something happened to her over the summer. Imogen takes her hands in hers and says that something happened to her too.

Chapter Four: The (Fe)male Gaze

welcome bAck to an all-new episode of Original Sin! well, two episodes are, but I'm covering them in separate posts. so, let's cut to the chase and get into it.

1999

We see Angela with a friend smoking for the first time. A man comes up to them and asks them if they've been smoking to which the friend - Marjorie - says she wasn't, but Angela was. Angela is taken away while Marjorie walks away with a guilty look on her face. Soon after, she apologizes to Angela and gives her a gift.

Present DAy

Adult Marjorie (Noa's mother) finds a gift in her office. It was a stuffed bear (the same one she gave to Angela) with a t-shirt that said 'Mother of the yeAr' and a pill bottle attached with the name 'Addison' written on it.

Imogen takes a phone call during detention asking someone about Angela Waters. He's an old classmate from that year (1999) and refuses to say anything about her.

Detention is over for all of the girls and for the last two weeks, they haven't received any texts from A.

Tabby goes into the locker room to retrieve her camcorder again like she did in the first episode and hides in a stall when Greg and Tyler come in. They disclose a crude and disgusting conversation about Tyler sleeping with someone (a 'nymphomaniac' because she came twice ??) and finishing inside her twice without telling her. Greg makes a joke that everyone's slept with her. Not a day goes by where males do not disgust me.

At Tabby's house, her mother tells Imogen that a lovely couple put an offer on the house and that she has time to pack up Imogen's things.

FridAy

In dance, Faran notices "Kelly" switching lockers to Karen's because she likes it better.

Our cute track star Noa is running fast! But apparently not fast enough as she's out of practice. Her mediocre boyfriend is there to cheer her on.

Ash is reassuring Mouse about the Spectrum club and invites her to spend Halloween together. She says she can't since her moms don't let her go out on Halloween since it's "too dangerous".

Imogen enters her home alone and sees a good amount of stuff already packed up and covered. She gets nostalgic and remembers the first time her mother showed her the house when she was younger. Which side note - young Imogen is played by Bailee's niece! Anyways, she hears a creek and goes downstairs where A is hiding (although she doesn't know that). Outside, she sees the couple who bought the house and scares them out of buying it.

Back at Tabby's house, Tabby's mom tells Imogen that her mother was in a lot of debt and was hoping that selling the house would help cover that. She also tells Imogen that she knows she's been asking old classmates about Angela Waters. Imogen says that there's something between Angela and her mom that no one is telling her and Tabby's mom tries to dissuade her from going further.

At the movie theater Chip and Tabby are discussing movies over popcorn for their film assignment.

MondAy

"Horror, from the point of view of the female gaze." - Tabby

Tabby decides to switch the genders of the shower scene from the movie Psycho for her film project. She asks her friends who would play the woman in her scene. All of them decline except for Faran. They need a boy who isn't shy and is not against being objectified. They set their sights on Greg.

PLS WHY ARE M*N SO EASY. Greg says yes.

In dance practice with just Kelly, Faran gets a hint or reason to believe that Kelly isn't Kelly. She tells Faran to "be a queen, girl" which is what Karen said to her.

Imogen is back at her house actually packing things up this time and sees a Ouji board that her mother and her used to use. She asks Tabby if her and the girls could get together to try and contact her mother.

Faran is confronted by her dance crush about cutting Kelly some slack. Unbeknownst to him, he lets it slip that dancing with Kelly felt like dancing with Karen again. This obviously increases her suspicions even more. So, the next session she has, she apologizes to Kelly. She brings up an article she read on twins to try to feel out the vibe with "Kelly". She points out that she's wearing Karen's leotard.

At Imogen's home, all of the girls are gathered around to summon her mother. Which like, besides Mouse and Faran, where are the father's of the other girls? Dead, alive, away, in the picture? Anyways, the board is working! Imogen is getting emotional and airing all of her questions out loud. She's hurt at the thought of her mother being the one who took herself away from her. She becomes enraged and yells at her mother and not wanting anything from the house or her. Her friends reassure her that Imogen will always have them. Friends 'til the end.

Sheriff Beasley decides to make a search at Noa's house just because. He wants to violate her probation in any way possible. While her mother tries to take the blame away from herself, which we've seen from Noa's flashback and 1999 that it's a theme for Marjorie.

WednesdAy

Noa believes that there's something in her mother's bag - she suspects her of using again. She finds a pill bottle with the name Caleb Rivers on it. Sound familiar, anyone? It's her last day with the ankle monitor on, so we'll see how that goes.

Tabby and Chip break down their plans to shoot the scene to Greg and Faran. They'll start shooting after school at 10 and be done by midnight. The last time someone was at the school after hours was A and the janitor. We all saw how that went.

Honestly, if I was Imogen I would ask one of my friends to come help me pack up the house. She finds her old diary and that inspires her to do some digging around her mom's room for her own diaries. She finds what she's looking for with a relieved smile on her face. JAIL. Later, she finds that her mother ripped out some pages of the diary.

At the school, Tabby gets upset over Greg not wearing anything for the scene. Faran and Chip aren't fans of it, but for the sake of time, they're okay with shooting as is. Tabby storms off and we see that a part of who she is and what she pushes for stems from her own trauma. By the time she recollects herself and goes back in, Faran and Greg have gone home. Chip wasn't able to reach Tabby as her phone wasn't on her and it was getting late so he finished filming the scene for her. She seems annoyed but decides not to start anything.

Noa ordered a pizza and received a text from A, saying that her mother never learns her lesson. When the pizza seemingly arrives, she goes down to go get it. She finds a broken window with the pizza on the ground. She begins to walk back to her apartment and sees A at the door. She runs like hell and leaps across one building to another to escape. She screams at A, asking what they want. A says "to punish the guilty". And I think mentions Angela Waters and her mother. Crying, she calls the hospital and tips them off that her mother has been stealing pills. She hangs up, crumbles to the floor, and A disappears.

SOMEONE GIVE MY GIRL MAIA REFICCO AN AWARD FOR THAT PERFORMANCE I LOVE HER SO MUCH.

Faran is conducting some social media stalking on Kelly. She notices in one of Kelly's photos that her feet are a certain way. This instantly brings her mind to Karen's injury with the blade in her ballet shoe.

ThursdAy October 29th

Faran asks Henry for help and shares her theory of Karen not being dead. She reminds him that Karen and Kelly would switch places all of the time. He doesn't believe her and calls her deranged. She tells him that she has a way to prove her theory. She tells him that her foot would have a scar due to the blade. He reluctantly agrees to help her.

At lunch, Imogen tells the girls about her mom's diaries and Noa reveals her attack from A. And the fact that her mom did something to Angela Waters.

PLL: Original Sin [episode 2 & 3 recap]

hello, hello, hello liArs! welcome back to Millwood! if you're back, I'm taking that as you enjoyed your first stay - or are at least curious to see what this town has to offer.

alrighty, then. let's get stArted.

Chapter Two: The Spirit Queen

Six Months Ago

We start the episode as we did the last - with a party. Only this time, it's modern day.

The party is at Kelly and Karen's house. They both happily greet Imogen who is going to ask Greg (Karen's boyfriend) for more beer.

Tabby enters with Chip (he works at the theater) and Noa is on the couch with her boyfriend.

Imogen finds Greg coming out of the bathroom from I assume Karen's room and he talks about how he wishes Karen was more like her and that she's a good person. He gets close to her as she backs up. We don't see the rest, but we do see Kelly telling Karen that she saw the two of them kissing. Imogen appears and wants to talk to Karen but her mind is already made up and she believes Kelly and Greg in the fact of Imogen kissed Greg and not the other way around.

Present DAy

Imogen recounts the party to the girls as that's the night she and the twins stopped being friends. Tabby and Noa share that they were there too, while Mouse and Faran hadn't been there,

Imogen shares that there's a video of Karen from that night that would make her look bad if it got out. Well, more accurately Imogen said the video would destroy Karen.

They get the phone that has the video from Imogen's old house and watch it when they're out eating pizza. The video is Karen being super drunk. A douche bag recorded it.

The girls are all for showing it but Imogen gets second thoughts.

When the girls get to their respective homes, their parents question them about the accusations they were notified about. When they to their rooms, A sends each of them a custom video. The liars still think that it's Karen behind everything and decide to show the video.

Thursday, October 31st

Tabby and Imogen are at the front doors of the school promoting Tabby's movie event. Mouse is doing the same in the computer lab, Faran in the ballet lockers, and Noa at the library.

Tabby shows Chip the video and tells him that use, while it's fucked up, Karen has done way worse. Chip then asks her if she'll go to the Spirit Week dance with him and she agrees.

Everyone stop! Noooo A is, of course, at the screening. If something happens to Chip I swear to god,

Their video begins with a montage of Karen's life and promotes her for Spirit Queen. She doesn't expect it, but what she least expects is the quick cut to the unseen video of her drunk. We don't know who is filming, but Karen is rightfully mortified and runs out.

After the film, Imogen is still second-guessing their choice to show it. Tabby reassures her and goes back inside while the rest of the girls go home.

Chip is being accused of the video but Tabby owns up to the mistake. Wes sends Chip home and gives Tabby a pass...and tells her he'll give her a ride home.

"You are who you hang out with." - Davie

Imogen gets a text from Karen to meet. Karen asks about the video and Imogen reveals that she had gone back to the party to get her sweater and heard what was happening. She went into the room and saw a boy named Tyler recording her. She took the phone from him and brought Karen back to Kelly. Karen says Imogen the only reason Imogen could've kept the video was because she could use it later. Imogen says Karen shouldn't have put razors in her own shoes or killed a rat; to which Karen says she didn't do that. The conversation is pretty much over but Imogen tells Karen she shouldn't be outside alone. Karen tells her: "get the fuck out of my face". As Imogen leaves, we see A.

FridAy

Imogen tells Tabby that she met up with Karen the night before at a cemetery. Apparently, it was "kind of their thing".

At school, Karen is missing from ballet class.

Karen is alive and unwell. She sees the principal and tells him she doesn't want to be Spirit Queen. She's withdrawing from the race because she doesn't deserve it. She confesses to destroying the posters. It's subtle, but you can tell there's something different in her demeanor. It's Kelly! Karen is at home crying. They have a plan for payback for Imogen showing the video. They're thinking of giving Carrie vibes at the dance since "these bitches love movies".

"Like mother like daughter is my understanding."

Imogen breaks down in front of her friends. She's overwhelmed and says she's nothing like her mother - she's a terrible person. The girls try to cheer her up but it doesn't work. Imogen says she won't be going to the dance after this, but Tabby suggests the 5 of them go together as friends.

At Noa's community service, the Sheriff threatens her with what she saw the last time. In turn, she asks him for a favor. Her ankle will be free and she'll be able to go to the dance.

SaturdAy (night of the dAnce)

The glam squad has arrived! It's time to get ready for the dance.

Not exactly a fan of Imogen's dress, but the girls look stunning.

Imogen is set on apologizing to Karen at the dance and giving her the Spirit Queen crown. The girls try to help her by keeping an eye out for Karen, but of course, they're also going to enjoy themselves.

Seeing Imogen be a wallflower, the girls bring her out to dance.

Soon after, she's announced as Spirit Queen and brought onto the stage. Her friends and the crowd see Karen from above, ready to drop paint on her. When Imogen turns around and looks up, she sees A behind Karen. Karen turns around, mischievous smile gone, and she is then pushed off of the railing. Even though it was against her will and murdered, she shared the same fate as the girl in 1999. Thus, giving us a parallel and an official text from A.

Chapter Three: Aftermath

While everyone is running away, Kelly rushes to her sister's body. The liars rush Imogen out of there and quickly discuss what they had seen and the texts received.

At home, everyone makes up a story that they left early and don't know why Karen was up there.

Tabby's mom gets flashbacks to the night the same thing happened to her.

MondAy

There's an assembly to commemorate Karen. Imogen runs out to the bathroom and throws up. She runs into Kelly and asks her about the flyer. Imogen says she's trying to figure out stuff about her moms death. Kelly yells at her and says it's not about her.

All of the liars get called into the principal's office (giving nostalgia) where they are told by the Sheriff that he will open a criminal investigation against them.

TuesdAy

Awh cute! The moms are all back together...in unpleasant circumstances. They meet at Davie's house and discuss their daughters and the video of Karen.

The liars each have things taken away from them. Commonly their devices are taken away or they're restricted. In Faran's case, she was kicked off the dance team since no one feels comfortable around her.

In search of answers, Imogen goes to the library at school and asks for the 2000 yearbook. That's the year her mom graduated. While she's looking at her moms photo, she noticed a theme of Y2K Survivors Club in other students listed activities. Looking through archives, she finds an old article of a body found in a warehouse.

Faran and Tabby's mothers go to the Principal and Sheriff with Tyler's phone that has the video of Karen. The Sheriff doesn't care because while the girls didn't take the video, they used it and projected it in front of the entire school. To him, his daughter took her own life (no one else saw another person or Karen with a bucket), due to the video and therefore the daughters killed his daughter.

Imogen makes a solo (?!) trip to the warehouse she learned about. When she walks in she sees 'Angela Waters rest in peace' spray-painted on an old car and old candles, photos, and flowers laid out for Angela. In PLL fashion, the door to the warehouse closes and Imogen rushes into an old van as A enters the warehouse. Before that happened though, she found a copy of the Scarlet letter and it was constantly checked out by A. Waters.

Sheriff Beasley tries to get Noa to confess anything and to get Minnie and Faran to back her up on it so that Imogen and Tabby can get in trouble.

STOP OMG NOT ME GETTING SCARED BY AN A TEXT. Just like old times.

WednesdAy

Noa tells Minnie and Faran that they should say that Imogen and Tabby knew exactly what they were doing and the rest of them didn't. Noa is scared to mess up what she has since this is her last strike. Faran is okay with is and Mouse is more hesitant and cautious.

After Imogen had told Tabby about the warehouse, they make a plan to leave a cam-corder there to capture something; anything. The door opens and they think it's A, but it's actually Tabitha's mother. She came to pay her respects. The girls ask her who Angela Waters was.

Sidney (Tabby's mom) reveals that she was a classmate of theirs who tragically died at that warehouse. She said that everyone was there to celebrate Y2K. She said she was unlucky and damaged. She tells them that she jumped to her death at midnight but doesn't reveal that it was Imogen's mother who didn't want them to befriend her or help her. Someone did call the police two days later but they don't know who. Imogen shows Sidney the flyer she got.

SIDNEY LIED AND SAID THAT NO ONE WAS NICER TO ANGELA THAN HER MOTHER. Which, obviously I know why but still. That's not helping anyone.

Tabitha goes to her boss's house in order to get the flash drive that Chip left that has the video they showed. His intentions as always are never pure but for the sake of the evidence, she sticks through it. Do we wanna bet that he doesn't have it?

Noa's boyfriend shows up (whom I lowkey don't care about?) and apologizes for blowing her off and assuming that she lied about her drug test. She reveals that she's never done drugs. When she was arrested she was covering for her mother. It was her drugs.

LMAO? Tabby said "fuck this" found the flash drive (we hope it's the correct/same one) and left.

ThursdAy

Our first funeral of Original Sin! Of course, the PLLverse is known for its funerals. They had plenty in PLL, and there was Nolan Hotchkiss' funeral in Perfectionists, I never saw Ravenswood but I assume they had at least one.

Anyways, the twins' mom is escorted (?) out by Kelly as she turns hysterical (their mom is fragile and part of that could be due to her husband, but there's definitely more there. Stop! She could be related to Angela). On her way out, she sees Imogen and questions why she's there and wishes bad things upon her unborn child since her child is dead due to Imogen, she believes.

Imogen obviously leaves. She tells the liars what happened.

Side note - I get that Tabby is the film geek but I'm not a fan of her constant references, especially in inappropriate (?) situations.

Imogen says that she'll take all the blame for the screening since she had the video. Tabby says no, she was just as much a part of it as well. The other girls break their resolve and agree that they're in it together.

At the Beasley residence, the mother is not doing any better and the dad is drunk. He tells Kelly that they will get expelled and then go to jail for taking away his daughter. Kelly is trying to keep the peace and says that she's sure they feel awful. He doesn't care though.

FridAy

It's the day of the hearing! Faran's mom gives a basic lawyer speech (Hastings vibes). However, the Principal informs them that the hearing is postponed. Kelly had come in and said that Karen had indeed been in the rafters with the intent of hurting Imogen on stage.

The committee is no longer considering expulsion, but they now either face suspension or detention.

The mothers and daughters get pizza after (they sit separately of course). The girls are sitting at the booth of their mothers.

Sidney tells the mothers about her conversation with Imogen and Tabby. So far, the other moms haven't gotten anything like what Davie did.

Imogen tells the girls about her feeling that the moms are hiding something.

Mouse gets some of her electronics back and Faran's mother heads back to Pittsburgh.

Kelly and Imogen meet at a swing set. Kelly apologizes for what happened at the funeral and Imogen thanks Kelly for telling the truth about Karen's intent. Kelly reveals that it was her idea to pull a Carrie. She blames herself for Karen being up there.

The five girls go to Karen's headstone and each say a few words. A breeze passes, they turn, and they see A looking at them.

That is how the episode ends! If I am correct, there are going to be 10 episodes. I'm optimistic about where this spin-off is going and hopefully, it doesn't share the same fate as Ravenswood and Perfectionists and can stick around a bit longer.

PLL: Original Sin [first episode recap]

welcome back, liArs! this time around on its third spin-off we're still in Pennsylvania this time around, but not Rosewood. Millwood. From the trailer and synopsis of the show, I'm going into it thinking of Original Sin as Pretty Little Liars meets Scream Queens.

They are keeping the theme and essence of PLL with 'A' and all of that while incorporating a tragedy that happened years ago and someone seeking revenge in the future, reminiscent of Scream Queens. If you haven't seen Scream Queens before, I highly recommend!

I do miss PLL: The Perfectionists and still believe they should've been picked up at least for season 2 - I personally enjoyed it - but, I welcome this new chapter with an open heart and an open mind. I'm overall glad to have familiarity again.

Main characters go as follows:

Hot take: While there is more diversity in the core and the cast, it's still a bit disheartening that the ring leader is caucasian. However, I do like Bailee, she's a part of so many individuals' childhoods and I recognize that they went for someone who most people know as their lead (like they did with Lucy). I mean no disrespect, please do not come at me. I am excited to see everyone's storylines and what contributes to their character.

That being said, let's get into it.

Chapter One: Spirit Week

As with the Perfectionists, we are keeping the PLL theme song!

December 31st, 1999, New Year's Eve PArty

A limping girl with mascara running down her face begs and pleads for someone to help her. Everyone ignores her and when she reaches her friends, one tries to help but the other tells her not to. She decides to climb a ladder and screams "Can you see me now?!" before falling off onto the floor. The crowd screams, and scurries off, leaving her "friends" staring in shock at her body.

22 Years LAter

Imogen and her mother are finishing dinner when a guest arrives. It is clear already that Imogen is not a fan. Her name is Karen and she's a popular twin. She gives Imogen's mother a letter that was taped to the door. It's a flyer to the party shown at the beginning - it's a warning.

Karen is here to collect her things since Imogen allegedly made out with her boyfriend. She exits the room and the girls notice a trail of blood leading to her Imogen's mother's bathroom. They find her dead in the tub. On the tile wall is the letter 'A' in blood.

MondAy, September 28th - One Month LAter

Since the death of Imogen's mother, she's been staying with Tabby. It's Tabby's mom who tried to help the girl in 1999 before Imogen's mom - Davie - told her not to.

Tabby and Imogen talk about how they didn't know their moms were friends on the way to Imogen's home. Unbeknownst to them, the villain is living in that house. They also discuss school since Imogen is returning after the death of her mother. She says the school will probably react the same way that they did when they found out she was pregnant. Then they'll move on to the next tragic kid.

It's spirit week!

"You don't owe anyone anything." - Tabby

We get glimpses of the other girls! They don't know each other yet, so I don't know if Tabby and Imogen knew each other before the murder. I would think so.

Noa is our first liar that gets an A text! Tabby is the second, Imogen is the third (in which she gets a glimpse of the villain), Mouse fourth, and Faran last.

Some girl freaks Imogen out about raising her child alone now that her mom is gone, leading her to not want any part of it anymore. She wants an abortion but she's too far in her pregnancy to do it. The only option she has now is adoption if she still doesn't want it.

Tabby, our film geek, fittingly works at the movie theater. Meanwhile, Noa is doing community service and sees A (and then sees the officer who's "supervising" the community service abusing his power - classic PLL). Back with Tabby, it's obvious there will be another abuse of power from an adult male.

Imogen gathers the courage to go back into her house for the photo she's looking for. It's an ultrasound of her child from her first appointment. While she's in her mother's room, she notices the flyer Davie got about the 1999 party she went to.

While being "dropped off" at home, Tabby is about to get kissed by her manager Wes and sees A. She tells him to start the car, and he sees A too. At first, he makes a move to get out, but she tells him not to. At home, she views what looks like private footage. She obtained this from the school locker room, so there's a good chance she put it there herself for...research?

TuesdAy

Faran - our ballet dancer - lands the lead in Swan Lake and her coach brings up her scoliosis. Mouse - our computer gamer girl - gets an invite to a school club.

Cafeteria scene! It's a smaller cafeteria than Rosewood's and the school lighting is dim. We get to see the liars at their own tables. So cute!

Anyways, Imogen comes in hot, yelling at Karen. She and her boyfriend (and apparently others) are triggered by her presence. So, she announces that she's going to run for spirit queen and win.

At Karen's home, we see her sister Kelly as well as their parents eating dinner. Surprise, surprise! Their father is the sheriff/officer who Noa saw using an underage male in his car. The scene was giving Euphoria vibes, idk. Okay pause. I KNEW Karen's boyfriend looked familiar and guess what? He played young Cal Jacobs! Also, Karen said c*nt which I've only ever heard in Euphoria, and was a bit taken aback by it. They also showed nudity in Tabby's locker room video. I'm not saying they can't do those things but I wasn't expecting that in PLL [insert cry emoji].

At home, Mouse is chatting with Ash, the friend who invited her to join the club. She's happy, giggly, and excited.

Faran is practicing ballet at school after hours and is the next liar to see A.

At Tabby's house, Imogen shares the party flyer with Tabby.

Ummm so towards the beginning there was a creepy (?) janitor and saw A walk in after hours. He tries to see who it is and tells them they can't be at the school. The janitor finds A's lair which is filled with a rodent, ballet shoes, dance flyers, and more. A appears at in the doorway and the janitor says it's off limits due to school property. A doesn't say anything and when the janitor says he'll call the police, A kills him. So, we know the lair is on school grounds.

WednesdAy

Imogen and Tabby walk into school and see spirit queen fliers. All of Karen's flyers have her face scratched out and derogatory words written on them. Meanwhile, there are new flyers of Imogen that she had not put up, with the second A in her last name in red. They are both sent to the principal's office.

Noa doesn't pass her drug test, Mouse gets accused of putting a dead rat in Karen's bookbag and Faran gets accused of putting a razor in Karen's ballet shoe. And so, all 5 of them end up in detention.

One by one each of the girls disclose how Karen blamed them for what landed them in detention. They all agree that she needs to be taken down and that's how this lovely group of 5 become the new liars.

All in all, a good first episode. I will be posting the recap for 2 & 3 in a separate post!
