Spy x Family Movie Thoughts
I haven't had such a good theater experience since probably the JJK movie. It was so much fun to watch this movie in a theater half-full of fans.
The movie does a fantastic job in its runtime, to show all the Forger's off in their own ways with dialogue and action, highlighting them all in a good way. And to see other characters from the series, however short, was delightful.
The entire Poop God scene was a fever dream, of which me and everyone else was laughing they're heads over. The shift in the animation style and the entire sequence was brilliant.
As always, Spy x Family is such a feel-good series and the movie achieved that brilliantly..

Since my page gets like no traction I'm going to put my thoughts here:
The amount of effort I'm putting into an Instagram post and the infuriating amount of editing to make it perfect just ARGH.
Using 4 different apps to have the kind of post I love. I definitely know this is my first attempt at editing and however much it's a pain...I am going to be so happy with the results. And I know it'll be a learning curve for sure. Still partially terrified at the reactions to come and in making an account public and up keeping it. :')
I'm going to hella recycle stuff I post here since I have a good backlog of stuff to post about, and this blog will be linked anyways (it is at the moment lol.)

Deca-Dence Thoughts
It wasn’t until I hit episode seven that I finally realized what studio made this anime, because apparently, I don’t pay attention enough. It gave off the same vibes as Science SARU but it is in fact, Nut Studio. They did Bullbuster last season and probably why it feels so familiar.
The transition title cards are so pretty in this show.
Overall, I have to say it was an interesting plot. Cyborgs manage humanity and create avatars in the world of Deca-Dence and play as Avatars to fight man-made creatures as a part of the system. Then we have apathetic Kaburagi who works to eliminate bugs within the system, who meets Natsume-a bug in the system- and through getting to know her gains his own will to topple the system.
It took me awhile to wrap my head around the cyborgs and their relationship with humanity because it never is explained how this happened, just that some corporation owns the rights to maintain humanity. The show could've leaned into being more post-apocalyptic, but I think it was enjoyable.
Honestly, this show was very well executed in its story and its animation. The 3D mode rigs don't look too awful and blend well which is surprising because of how recently Bullbuster came out (and how awful the rigs were even if it is "explained" away.)

Or Something Like It? Thoughts
Stories like this, slice-of-life and centered around families, especially unconvential ones are my cup of tea.
Two boys, Haruhi and Kouta, get taken in by their uncle Akito who brings them to his girlfriends apartment after their parents die in a car accident. He does this because nowhere else in the family has the space for the two boys. And what comes to follow, is just this beautiful story.
Kinaho, a writer is such a straightforward person. She clearly tells the boys that she won't replace their mom but that she will do everything she can to take care of them. She is so honest with how she reacts and steps into people's business. There is a kindness around her, whether it be at the park helping other kids out or with parents by butting into conversations and speaking her mind.
Haruhi and Kouta grow into their own, and even if their parents being gone looms over them. Both still try to face the world with positivity. Kouta joins the cooking club at his middle school after helping out at home and loves to try new recipes with everyone. Haruhi is just the friendliest kid, and I just love when authors know how to write kids dialogue and action. He reflects what Kinaho tells him to his peers and friends, which creates precious moments.
Seeing how characters interact, grow and change in a mundane setting is what I love most about this genre of stories. It just warms your heart and makes me happy, that stories like this exist.

The Ichinose Family's Deadly Sins
Before reading this, one comment of MAL stood out to me: that this is a terrible weekly manga. Of which I can agree with...
NOT EVERY CHAPTER HAS TO BE A FUCKING TWIST. Like???
So Tsubasa is stuck in a coma, of that we can confirm, but is Sota ( I'm assuming blonde dude) just a manifestation in his mind to help protect him and keep the loop going? NAd then they go to visit an area where a psychiatric hospital is and the Grandma pushes him off a cliff??
I am so utterly confused and disorientated....WHATTTTTT IS SOTA HIS BIG BROTHER?!?!
I have no idea what the point or lesson is to this story. It's like there's no end point to it? The author doesn't have a clear vision of what they're writing and uses cliff hangers to continually restart the story.
Not my typical pace to post so negative but I thought if I stuck out 40 chapters there would something worth it? And there just wasn't...I enjoyed the art style and how the panels were laid out though.

Kimi no Todoke Anime S2
Guys...it was a tad insufferable the miscommunication of season 2 because of Sawako's anxiety and Meiko. This blonde, well-meaning, narcissistic asshole. Everyone referring to him as d-bag in the anime with the subtitles was 100% warranted to.
BUT seeing Sawako be welcomed by her classmates and become part of the group and no longer being alienated warmed my heart. Pen's shenanigans make me laugh because he is far too meddlesome...but is a good guy deep down...maybe.
The school festival was a ton of fun and adds to the climax of the series, the "proper" confession between the two that just AUGH was perfect. I waited for so long... but it was worth it.
It makes me even more excited for Season 3 this fall season, it'll be fun to see them dating (and to see more from Chizu and Ryu after he confesses to her.)

Home Office Romance Thoughts
I think the romance between Nokoru and Natsu is adorable and framing the story of " this is how I met my future wife" was really cute! Seeing the development and completion of a story within 20 chapters is so refreshing.
The romance develops naturally and feels realistic. It is cool to see a romance story take place during Covid (or at least that is what it implies.) and to see just a pair of people meet by being neighbors. It sure does give hope to romance-less people lol.
Very much a theme in Kintetsu Yamada's works for one character to change and to have an extrovert x introvert pairing of the couple.

One of my best friends think I'm insane for watching over 30 seasonal anime and asks how I have time to do things...honestly if you keep on top of your daily watch list its all good.
I'm unsure of Viral Hit because it just made me feel...very uncomfortable. Also not watching any returning anime sequels because I'm not interested in them. Highspeed Etoile is 3D animation hell so dropped. Studio Apartment, Good Lighting, Angel Included was just not hitting the vibes for me and also I'm scared of how it might turn out to be a Harem anime. A couple Iseki's I'm not watching but overall, the Isekai picks for this season aren't half bad with The New Gate being the blandest entry (like come on...you didn't have to regurgitate the SAO story.)
I'll make a proper post once we hit week 4/5 of anything I drop but I'm trying to give series a fair chance this time round (also even with so many fantasy entries, as always- the music is being done fairly well in them, so I find it tolerable.) Love that music is the hugest indicator of me continuing a show.

A Condition Called Love Manga Thoughts
I was partially skeptical of the first episode of the anime aired especially in trusting a new animation studio so….I read up to chapter 53 and the characters really grew on me over the course of it.
Hananoi goes through so much character growth in letting people into his heart other than Hinase. He’s honestly the most stand out character to me because of how he changes for the better while still keeping his loving and protective demeanor.
It’s definitely a series you have to give a chance to love, definitely feels like an early 2000’s or 2010’s shoujo. I’m excited to see what else it’ll have to offer as they’re only partially through the second year!

Apothecary Diaries Thoughts
So, I caught up with the manga (started reading from Lakan's arc/backstory) in like a day and it was actually really fun to read!
An important detail, in comparison to the anime, is when Lakan goes running to find Mei Mei he goes through a window *not * a door. And I think heightens how desperate he is to go to her to go through a windowsill, fall out and run through the bushes to find her in the room.
But beyond that, my hunch about Jinshi being the Crown Prince was right on the money. I'm so excited to see how the story picks up and seeing how Jinshi and Maomao relationship will continue to grow along with the drama heightening to have bigger stakes. I am very tempted to pick up with light novel because of how much anticipation I have for this series going forward.

My Love Mix Up Thoughts
I love the use of screentones and the addition of textures on top on drawings. I miss it in more modern reads.
This was such a silly and fun story to read, the gag humor was drawn fantastic. The amnesia chapter towards the end of the manga scared the beegeegez out of me, so I'm happy it was just a dream.
Aruko's art and Wataru Hinekuru's writing complimented each other and their author notes after each volume made me smile.

Mashle Chapter 96 to the End Thoughts
Spoilers of course
Chapter 96 of Mashle: Muscles and Magic is jaw dropping. I will continue to be surprised by this manga. But I really, I shouldn't be..
THE WAY THAT EVERY TIME, or nearly every time without fail Mash Burnadead somehow worms his way into his opponents' hearts with his sincerity just AUGHH
Innocent Zero is honestly a bad guy I can appreciate, to have no empathy for because he doesn't deserve it.
NOOO DOMINA WHYYYYYYYY WE COULD'VE HAD A WHOLESOME MOMENT WITH HIM BEING ADOPTED INTO MASH'S FAMILY BUT HE HAS TO DIE IN THE DARK MAGMA??? FOUL.
Gotta say: all of Mash's blood siblings besides Domina (who had sob a youngest sibling complex) are all so silly with their own quirks.
The entire time I be reading this with the most Totoro like grin possible.
Okay...now in the battle against the oldest brother with the remaining Divine Visionaries (plus Finn, Dot and Lance) if everyone is at their limit now when they haven't even fought Innocent Zero...
This fight... I still have a giant grin on my face because how much more insane and epic can this get??
The way Doom, once he's defeated asks what Mash wants to do with his power and his answer is to be a pâtisserie. And he goes...what if I learn how to make pancakes.
Came back to my infodump post after finishing it plus the extra one-shot from like 3 months ago: Just wow. I am honestly just smiling from ear to ear. I enjoyed reading Mashle so much. It may be surface level, or too naive, but life is serious enough as it is. As a gag/parody/shounen its executed very well and I had a great time.
(may convince me to design and post in the Instagram animanga space but we'll see..)

Watching Totoro for the first time:
And I honestly just feel like a kid. There’s so much joy and childlike wonder in it.
Joe Hisashi of course compliments it perfectly, when the music lineups with the animation like the spot sprites floating in the sky or Mei jumping after the acorn trail.
The scene where they grow the giant acorn tree with Totoro is just so beautiful and seeing it explode with life. It’s just so magical even if it was just a dream. Every time I saw Totoro or Catbus grinning, I couldn't help but smile.
A very cute movie without an uber meaningful message to convey, just something to lift ones spirits..

Girl from the Other Side OVA
As I've talked about the plot...albeit vaguely. I am still, very new to writing my thoughts out..
The addition of the color to the backgrounds surprised me, but it's never overdone which I appreciate. The characters all have this constant watercolor motion to them that makes them feel more alive. I wonder if it's just a looped animation sequence put on top the characters animation to cause that effect. The animateness to the humans in the story are expressed very well, it would be cool to see the rest of the story produced because I love this story.
Nothing really stuck out to me music wise, it was pretty! But nothing mind blowing.

Say I Love You Thoughts
This manga is very cute! I seriously love this era of shoujo that isn't as apparent nowadays.
Having so much time dedicated to all the main cast, and to see them all grow as people without anything "special" or mystic to drive the plot is just beautiful. Its a story of character study, there is no one person ( outside of Yamato and Mei that we're cheering on of course!)
I love that we follow them from freshman to seniors and that the story wasn't over yet. The points Mei voices post chapter 60 really resonate with me about growing up and apart as adults, but that reaching out and keeping in touch is important too. Honestly seeing the characters grow and change so much was beautiful to read.
I also love how sincere Kanae Hazuki is in her afterwords. Her words make me smile. I'm so happy so many people loved this series when it was releasing.
Definitely a worthwhile read.

Kimi no Todoke S1 Thoughts
I know the focus of season two will be on Sawako and Shouta getting closer and having a romantic relationship, but I think what I most admire about this show is Sawako herself.
She is just such a charming and thoughtful person who is so excited to be with her friends and making memories. Then seeing how close Chizu, Ayane and Sawako become by the end of the series makes me happy. They all deserve each other, in the best sort of way.
The pacing across 25 episodes never feels like its dragging, it just meanders on and helps to develop and explore the cast. I guess that's what makes shoujo so beautiful?

Winter 2024- What I Finished
So as this anime season is coming to an end. Here are the shows I actually kept up with and overall enjoyed immensely.
There will be spoilers so be warned lol
The Unwanted Undead Adventurer
Tumblr media
I have enjoyed this series, the way Rentt is so determined to become a mithril-class adventurer even as an undead. The 3D models for the fight scenes move pretty well with the background matching them, especially in episode 9. This series is a slow-burn, even with the story progression, but I appreciate it because we see so much character growth for Rentt and how he interacts with the people and his friends. The music is fairly average for the series, but it does have some good moments especially when Rentt is in thought or making a choice. I loved coming full circle and him regaining his "human" features even though he still is very much a vampire now. Shun Narita, the composer for the series had some standout moments (fight scenes and contemplativeness) of music throughout the season so hats off to him.
The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic
Tumblr media
I fell in love with the humor of this series from the get-go and not a single episode is a disappointment. It is so full of life and this past week for episode 11, the line " Now that's the wrong way to use healing magic" was used in a perfect moment. The lead up of Usato's characters growth and seeing all his hard work and "torture" from Commander Rose's training *actually* matter was brilliant. Element Garden has done a great job with the music that just gets your blood pumping. Probably will make a separate post for this series once it's over.
A Sign of Affection
Tumblr media
The shoujo everyone is talking about, FOR GOOD REASON. To see the romance between the leads develop was so satisfying and wholesome. The development of the side characters so far is handled well, and at times the flashbacks scenes take over an episode but they are necessary. The art style and the use of lighting are done so well. It was a very cute show and always will love seeing an adult romance.
Solo Leveling
Tumblr media
What can I say that hasn't been said already? I started reading the manwha in 2019 and have reread many times since. Hiroyuki Sawano was a great choice and the soundtrack WILL be on loop once it's released fully. Smart pacing choices to have it end with him gaining a job, this week will be a blast of an episode. Wish it had been slotted for 24 episodes... The last two episodes KILLED it, the animation, the music?! I was on cloud nine.
Mr. Villains Day Off
Tumblr media
A perfect wholesome background anime, that is just about a Villian who loves pandas on his days off. The episodes where they focus on the Rangers aren't super interesting and makes you question the ethics of the world? It's a very cute show and sometimes, it's just a need in life. Ending was split between resolving the previous episode and the lead up to the Rangers and the Villian's battle.
Villainess Level 99: I May Be the Hidden Boss but I'm Not the Demon Lord
Tumblr media
The Isekai'd into an Otome game genre is SO saturated but somehow I ended up loving this show. Yumielle is so autistic coded and straightforward, no one quite knows how to react to her. Patrick is head over heels for her, not that she ever notices, and they're dynamic is adorable. I have laughed watching this show and the only reincarnation anime that didn't bog me down with guessable plot.
Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable!
Tumblr media
I fell so hard for this anime that I binge read the manga...who's art is definitely butchered in the adaption, it's so wholesome but the way episode 11 ends off MY GOD the miscommunication hurts me, and people will definitely riot watching the finale...and then picking up the manga to suffer for 40 chapters...BUT it's worth it. Tsubasa and Fuyuki all the way, they're chemistry is the best in the show as they each influence each other to open up, to be serious about the future and to help themselves grow as people. So sad to see this show go but maybe we'll get another season?
Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!
Tumblr media
This anime has me kicking my feet in joy and makes me miss my long-distance partner so fucking much. When Kurosawa and Adachi kissed? I was whooping in happiness. Adachi has a lot of room to grow with his communication with Kurosawa but pretty sure the final manga cover is a wedding outfit? My poor notes app I use to write my thoughts/observations as I watch seasonal anime is " SO GAY. KISS PLEASE." for several episodes between them. I loved that the end credits was the wedding but I can't wait to read the manga to compare it!
Gushing Over Magical Girls
Tumblr media
I'm not one to watch ecchi shows but this, THIS is just such a delight to watch. Utena is such a loveable protagonist, a magical girl loving person who gets turned into a villain and has to "fight" the girls she loves. By fighting its not LMAO. I adore all the characters in this show and how fresh the writing for them is. Its beautifully animated and the finale was so much fun to watch!
Mashle S2 - Divine Visionary Arc
Tumblr media
I picked up the first volume at the bookstore halfway through the season to try reading, after Bling-Bang-Bang-Born blew up, and I was not disappointed. Binged Season 1 and caught up in a day. There's just something so satisfying with gag humor and shounen fight scenes. I love everyone (besides for Innocent Zero, fuck that guy) and will for sure be binge reading the manga. The music, as always, is so hype and having rap for the fight scenes is very interesting. The soundtrack for S2 just released yesterday and has some amazing tracks on it.
Shangria-La Frontier
Tumblr media
What. An. Amazing. Show. Never thought I'd like a VR Gaming anime as much as I do now, but this was just so vibrant and humorous. Sunraku's tenacity at gaming and taking on challenges, plus my love for rogue/assassin builds from DND, made him such a likeable character. The entire Weathermon fight to be slotted for 4 episodes was just..gorgeous and stunning. The Music?!? God its perfection. The NPC's of Rabitzu... to have characters and just to not be weird was very much appreciated to me. I sincerely wish it had the fandom that other Fall 2023 shows, cough cough Frieren, Undead Unluck and Apothecary Diaries, has because I just want more merch sobs. The cosplans I have for this show? Too many, and its already in production for another 2 cour season for this fall!!
The Apothecary Diaries
Tumblr media
What a spectacular show and fabulous 24 episodes. The animation, the music (Satoru Kosaki, Kevin Pinken, Alisa Okehazma), the characters, the backgrounds?! I enjoyed watching the characters interact and loved the humor in the animation. I also just read and caught up with the manga in 2 days...so it's that good and a worthwhile watch and read!
