sick dean… bedridden… john is out on another hunting trip, of course.. he doesn’t have time to take care of dean and nurse him back to health… sam will have to suffice,,, and he’s terrible at it.. he’s so worried that he’s doing everything wrong, and oh boy, he is.. but dean would never tell him that… sam sitting on the edge of deans bed, handing him a small cup of medicine… dean is confused… “kiddo, this is.. um.. not.. the right one. this is for stomach stuff.” and sam is so embarrassed, he’s all red in the face…

“duh, i knew that.” dean raises an eyebrow… sam attempts to make him breakfast in bed and somehow he burns the toast to a crisp, despite the motel toaster having a timer… there’s no butter or jam so he just gives it to dean plain… hands him the entire jug of orange juice instead of pouring him a glass… dean coughs and sam is by his side in an instant, so worried… “you okay, dean? what’s wrong?” he looks like he could burst out into tears any second…

“im alright, sammy. don’t work yourself up. you’re too close, you’re going to catch my sick. back up.” sam looks even more upset at that… why is dean pushing him away :( he just wants to help.. sam is climbing into the bed, nuzzling up underneath deans arm.. he wants to cuddle so bad.. he misses dean… “sammy, if you get sick too, who’s going to take care of me?” dean is speaking softly… he wants to cuddle with sam sososo badly but he knows he shouldn’t… sam gets up at that, a little bit of reluctance but he does… he wants to take care of his big brother… dean watches as sam starts to clean up around the motel, doing a horrible job of course.. dean can’t help but blush thinking about how that’s his future wife… sammy, his incompetent little wife…

a lot of fandom seems to gloss over the fact that cas is like, funny? like has a dry sense of humor. often it gets pigeonholed into naivete or cluelessness, which in the earlier seasons is sometimes genuine, but take, for example:
