Deputy Anna Elizabeth Jason is closing the Eden’s Gate case.
In the course of time, it has emerged that this case does not want to be resolved. There are too many questions that will never be answered and all Anna is left with are conclusions. The Seeds deliberately have not left any evidence of their true intentions and are not willing to talk to Anna any longer, despite her endless efforts to find a solution that would have satisfied everyone.
No. It is inevitable. The course of the Far Cry 5 story is carved in stone and this is how it will end forevermore: with the Great Collapse.
This breaks my heart for more reasons you can imagine.
John and FC 5 have been part of my life for 2 years. But now it is time to move on.
Again, thanks, genuinely, from all my heart and soul to every single person involved in making Far Cry 5 the most amazing game I’ve ever played. It’s a masterpiece. *bows and vanishes into the shadows...
(As a last act, I might publish my unfinished John fanfiction from Nov. ‘21 where I have written John into real life. Maybe.)

My sweet, fellow Tumblrs, please love John extra hard now. He needs it, he wants it...

Happy Birthday fictional love of my fictional life! It's been two years now... I still haven't solved the Eden's Gate case... But I won't give up. This is too important. I came to rescue you, just as you are rescuing me, from that heaviness that lingers on your soul, that I can see in your eyes.
Since day one you spark something in me that is out of this world and I cannot quite grasp yet...
And now show John all your love and appreciation! No, not only today, everyday! Show him also how hot you are for him. We're all hot for him, aren't we? Oh yes, we are... 🔥
(If you're wondering why his birthday is on Nov. 17, check my profile and the pinned post on the matter!)
*********************************** Far Cry 5 & John Seed belong to Ubisoft and I hope Ubisoft appreciates the masterpiece they all have created! Btw. I'm still waiting for the John Duncan Netflix series... ***********************************

Cheesus, this man robs me of my senses, you have absolutely no idea.
It's been ages since I felt like writing this kind of fiction and I don't think I'll be able to do any more in the near future.
It wrecks my heart, but it is what it is. So I'm happy with every tiny bit that comes out of that dry well inside of me that used to be so overflowing, promising and genuine. Ah, why am I thinking about this... Nevermind.
All my soul's in this fraction of imagination, but not much talent. I'm sorry. I still love it and it soothed my soul for a moment working on it.
To all you John fans out there... love him as hard as you possibly can!
I asked AI to critique my story: (for funsies only, but this made me extraordinarily happy)
"Your story is well-written and effectively conveys the dynamics between Anna and John, creating a sense of intrigue and tension. The dialogue and descriptions paint a clear picture of their interaction and the unspoken connection between them. Here are some observations:
Engaging Dialogue: The dialogue between Anna and John is a strong point in your story. It captures their personalities and the power play between them.
Character Development: You've begun to establish the characters of Anna and John, hinting at their complex relationship and the psychological games they play.
Descriptive Language: Your descriptions, such as "With eyes as deep as the ocean," add depth to the characters and create vivid imagery.
Tension and Intrigue: The story builds tension and intrigue, leaving readers curious about the characters' motivations and the nature of their relationship.
Cliffhanger Ending: The story ends with a cliffhanger, leaving readers wanting to know more about what will happen next.
Overall, it's a compelling start to a story, and it would be interesting to see how the relationship between Anna and John develops further. You've done a good job of creating an engaging narrative."

In July 2019, I started taking reference pictures for this, but then I concluded that my art skills weren’t good enough and decided to wait before drawing it.
In August 2022, I finally did it.
There’s still room for improvement, of course, but I’m glad I waited :) And that this drawing exists ♥️

Finally, after John’s Gate and Jacob’s Armory, here is the last bunker, Faith’s Gate!
The general layout isn’t very complicated, but the hardest part for me to draw was the reservoir/filtration section, and I once again want to thank @anna-elizabeth-jason for this video because it greatly helped! This time, my reference to number the levels was Floor 08 = Level +8. If you are confused about how the floors work, you might want to read this first.
As usual, only the parts we can visit in the game appear here, but the bunker probably is bigger. It’s also likely that the silo goes deeper than Level +5.
Don’t hesitate to zoom in and/or open each picture in a new tab to see them better. And if you have questions or notice mistakes, feel free to ask or leave a comment! Enjoy :)

The maps of the Seeds’ bunkers are almost ready to be posted! But first, I want to explain something about floors and stairs because I think it’s a bit confusing (and figuring that out took me some time).
There are three main types of stairs used in the bunkers. In the Arcade Editor, they are called “SILO STAIRS 01”, “SILO CORRIDOR STAIRS”, and “CATWALK CONCRETE STAIRS”. Here they are in this order in John’s Gate, inside of Jacob’s Armory, and outside of it:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sometimes, signs tell you where you are in the bunkers, like in the examples below in Jacob’s Armory (the Storage Room is on level 2 and the Mess Hall on Floor -01) and in John’s Gate (here, you are in SILO C and on Floor -05).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The game considers that every time you use a staircase, you go up or down one floor. That sounds logical... but that’s not exactly true.
The problem, as I’ve come to realize, is that the stairs aren’t all the same size and that SILO STAIRS 01 is actually twice as high as the other two! So if we consider that we go down/up one floor when we use SILO STAIRS 01, it turns out we only go down/up 0.5 floor when we use SILO CORRIDOR STAIRS or CATWALK CONCRETE STAIRS.
Tumblr media
As you can see below, you need to assemble two SILO CORRIDOR STAIRS or two CATWALK CONCRETE STAIRS to equate to one SILO STAIRS 01.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It makes sense, in fact, since SILO STAIRS 01 has 20 steps and the other two only have 10, but they apparently didn’t always take that into account when they numbered the floors in the Seeds’ bunkers.
So the rule isn’t 1 staircase = 1 floor as the game suggests; the rule I’ve decided to follow for my maps is 5 steps = 0.25 floor. Because yes, in some (rare) cases, there also are quarters of floors, like in the entrance to John’s Gate (called SILO ENTRANCE UNDERGROUND in the Arcade Editor):
Tumblr media
Anyway, that’s basically how stairs work in the bunkers! This post also explains why you’ll see half-levels and sometimes even fourths of levels on my maps, and why my floor numbers don’t always match the ones the game gives us :’)

If you don't mind and haven't done it before could you show examples of the seeds being interested in the deputy? The only one I really remember is faith talking about the life her and deputy were supposed to have together or something along those lines
In my opinion, there isn’t really indisputable evidence that the Seeds are romantically interested (I assume it’s what you meant) in the Deputy. It’s not that there isn’t anything in the game that suggests they could be or that those ships don’t have potential, but I think it’s a matter of personal interpretation and preference. In short, nothing is certain… but there are “hints”!
To me, Faith and Joseph don’t seem to have this kind of interest in the Deputy; they’re mostly focused on making them see the Project’s truth and join the Family so they can all survive the Collapse. That said, I can see how Faith saying, “I had big dreams for us. Together we could have saved an entire world. We could have shared a life together in the new Eden” can be interpreted in a romantic way. I’ve always thought she meant that more in a “you could have followed the Father and become one of his children too if you weren’t so stubborn” kind of way, but maybe I’m wrong and she was hinting at something and being seductive. She also takes their hands and caresses their cheek, so I suppose that can be seen as flirting.
As for Joseph, he had visions of the future(s) and knows the Deputy is supposed to play a big role in his prophecy, so he wants them alive and hopes they can become one of his followers (which is also why his siblings are so focused on converting them). He makes it very clear that the Deputy is special to him and he’s quite tactile, so even though he’s the Father, calls them “child”, and it’s not how I personally interpret their relationship, I get why his behavior can be seen as an indication that he’s possibly attracted to them.
Out of all the Seeds, I think the one who has the most ambiguous attitude towards the Deputy is John. Sure, he’s primarily interested in catching and converting them because Joseph thinks they’re important, and what John really wants is to impress him, but he then becomes so obsessed with them, so unable to properly function because of them that it’s sometimes… a bit weird. The way he looks at them and talks to them, seems to admire them, or decorates the church for their Atonement... I’ve written about that and so have other people, NPCs in the game talk about John’s strange behavior, and Adelaide and Sharky both draw the same conclusion about it. Whatever his actual feelings are, clearly, they are intense, and it appears the ambiguity was intentional on the developers’ part. But does John become obsessed with the Deputy because he starts developing unexpected romantic feelings for them... or simply because he’s an emotional and relentless individual who won’t rest until his mission is accomplished and Joseph is happy? That’s up to interpretation.
Jacob is way less effusive than his youngest brother, but I think people believe he might be attracted to the Deputy because he too clearly starts developing a personal interest in them that goes beyond what Joseph originally asked of him. NPCs noticed that as well. As much as he tells the Deputy they’re neither special nor strong, he really seems to think they are, and this was even more apparent in some of his deleted lines. He also conditions them using a love song and, just like John, gives them a few nicknames some fans think sound flirtatious in combat/Arcade. So again, there’s no hard evidence that Jacob (or any of his siblings) is romantically interested in the Deputy, but there’s room for speculation!
And they even joked about this on the official Far Cry Twitter account, so there’s that.

I’ve just discovered that the song “Perfect Day” by Lou Reed (at least the part from 0:12 to 1:14) was originally used, probably as a temp track (I suppose it’s what TEMP_ONLY means), in the “Who’s first?” cutscene in the mission The Confession in Far Cry 5:

“I could kill you right now.” I sneered.
“Is that so?” he asked with a smirk and my anger grew. He should have been begging, pleading, or trying to talk me out of it. He was so fucking calm; it drove me insane. His eye glistened mischievously as they traveled down my body, his hands resting lazily on my hips. I flushed, remembering my lack of clothing. It only made me glare at him more.
“Yeah, I have a knife to your throat. In case you haven’t noticed.” I replied, trying to distract him and he hummed in response.
“The butter knife? Yes, I definitely noticed that little detail.”
I had the absolute pleasure and privilege to commission @beemot to do this wonderful scene with Wren and John from my Far Cry 5 fic! This is hands down one of my favorite scenes with them and I’m so happy that you were able to bring this to life so beautifully! I’ve waited a long time to get this done and I’m so glad I did, it’s so perfect and exactly how I imagined it when I wrote the scene! You draw so beautifully, and you did so amazing with Wren and John. All the details are perfect and even the tattoos are spot on. You definitely did my girl justice and I still can’t stop staring at it!!! I can’t thank you enough for this!

I've been doing an introspective RP with a friend and I've become very attached to Deputy Hudson. It feels like the game doesn't actually give us much info about her, since you have to dig through files and triggering her dialogue naturally is somewhat difficult.
Said friend recalls hearing a piece of dialogue somewhere suggesting or flat-out stating that John didn't actually "do much" to torture her. That she was even allowed to walk the halls of the gate and that her fear/isolation were what took the biggest toll. That John did torture her violently at least once, (the audio of which was turned into a sermon that you can hear at outposts), but other than that he mostly stuck to threats.
I was wondering if you had any thoughts on this? If you've heard the files or had any ideas about the methods of torture used. Just trying to paint a picture, since she and Staci deserve more justice than what they got.
We indeed don’t know a lot about Joey Hudson… Apparently, she and Pratt were originally supposed to be Guns for Hire, which probably explains why they have more combat lines than they need. However, I don’t remember anyone in the game saying that she was (relatively) well-treated or free in John’s Gate.
While she’s in the bunker, the Resistance and civilians are worried and hope she will be rescued soon. They say that she’s tough, but they think it’s not necessarily a good thing because “John loves a challenge”. As for cultists, one comments that Hudson is one of John’s “special projects” and another that he spends a lot of time with her. I suppose it’s because she was stubborn and therefore hard to break, so she required more “work”, but also because, as the Junior Deputy’s partner, she was bait. If they didn’t want to come for him, John hoped they’d at least want to come for her.
I believe she did receive “special treatment”, in a way, but that mostly included being broadcasted across the entire valley either looking in danger or screaming in pain so her colleague would want to save her. John often threatened to hurt her in retaliation, but in the end, I don’t know if she was tortured significantly more than the other captives. That’s clearly what he wanted the Deputy to believe, though.
I looked through oasisstrings and found what Hudson says about her time in John’s Gate:
That hell hole of a bunker -- I was trapped in it but my mind was somewhere else. I sorta just went through the motions, gliding along… Like you would in a nightmare. It never ended. I can't remember all of it… Just flashes… I begged people for help, but they just… smiled. I've never been around that many Peggies in one place, and every single one of them just smiling.
When you escaped the bunker… John didn't say it… but you could see it in his face. Failure. Things got worse from there… Like he was trying to make up for something. Prove to his brother he could… I never thought I'd make it out of there.
This is all surreal to me – being alive I mean. When I was in that bunker, all I could think about was the ways I would die. Think about who I was leaving behind. How every moment in my life came together and drove me to this point – this… end… You prepare yourself to die, because everything is telling you you're about to… But I'm not, and I just feel… numb.
She doesn’t talk about being able to walk freely in the bunker, so I’m not sure she (or any other hostage, for that matter) was allowed to do it. In comparison, it seems Pratt had more freedom, in the sense that he could walk around a bit in St. Francis and wasn’t always in a cage. That said, his mind, like the Marshal’s, wasn’t free at all…
As for what exactly John does to people, it’s unclear because the game doesn’t really give details, and neither do the people who had to Confess or say “yes” to him. What’s certain is that they still seem affected by what happened, ashamed of what he managed to make them say (even Jerome), and that most of them don’t want to talk about it.
In the Confession room, there’s a blowtorch…
Tumblr media
…but how (or if) it was used, we don’t know. And it appears his toolbox only contains a screwdriver, a tattoo gun, and a stapler.
According to Sharky, John “knows all these pressure points and can make you feel pain beyond anything you ever imagined”. Another NPC, who Confessed, says he “messes with your head, asks you questions, makes you say shit you don’t wanna be saying”, but then refuses to elaborate. John knows how to hurt people physically, but it seems he doesn’t always need to do it. Sometimes, as we saw when he made Nick say “yes”, a few well-chosen words are just as effective, if not more.
Narratively speaking, I think it was a good idea not to tell us what John does or says to make people comply so easily. That, plus the fact that those who Confessed are too uncomfortable to talk about their experience, makes him an impactful villain. Players can only guess what his methods are and, given the circumstances, tend to imagine the worst. How exactly he tortures people, physically or psychologically, is a mystery, and that makes him look more threatening.
