You and Jinx didn’t get along. It made sense to no one in Zaun, nor Silco. Especially since he constantly put you two on missions together, -solely because you two were the ones he trusted the most.- he assumed you and the blue haired girl would've fed up a long time ago and gotten along by now. Yet it was the complete opposite. If one of you wound up in trouble during a job, Jinx would never let you hear the end of it. Same for her. Fast forwarding that to now. Silco sat in his chair, Jinx on the desk and you standing in front of him. “I need you two for another run.” Silco grumbled, staring at the letter ahead of him. Jinx rolled her large blue eyes, you groaning at the idea. “Enough. Sevika will give you two the location. There’s been these troublemakers down in the main factory and I can’t risk the loss of our shimmer. There is far too much to waste.” Jinx glared at you before looking back at Silco, leaning in towards his face “And how come I have to do this with her?” Jinx complained.
You let out a scoff, rubbing the side of your face “Trust me, I don’t want to do this as much as you, Jinx.” you spat, before turning your attention back to Silco. “I’ll go to Sevika, what time do we leave?” You question, avoiding the blue eyes staring deeply at you. “At 8. No later.” Silco replied, sending you a gentle wave towards you before you had left the room. “Now can you please explain why you’re always sending me out with her? You know we don’t get along! This has been said over and over!” Jinx whined. Silco looked up at the girl, sighing. “Because Jinx, I trust both of you equally. Don’t forget how you two used to be. Now please, try and at least figure something out with her because your missions with them will not end anytime soon.” he said.
Used to be. Past tense. What happened to the two of you? Jinx adored you, she loved absolutely everything and anything about you and what you did. In her eyes, you could do no wrong. And it was the same for you. Used to work together on anything, whether you or Jinx needed help on a project. To the times you held her through the night when she couldn’t sleep. Jinx helping you through the bad times. Hanging for hours together through the night, talking about anything or going to bars and you laugh about her always ordering some type of juice. But of course, for you two, there could never be a break. The day your friendship tore apart, it was like Zaun finally went silent. The streets finally quiet and there was no longer the smell of smoke staining the walls through the Last Drop. Jinx refused to go on another mission with you for a good month, and you stayed to work in the bar for that month. Silco had only let it slide because his father instincts kicked in, and though he knew you two were strong, he felt like it would’ve been right to let you two sit, whatever troubles you two had, out.
Yet the trouble between you two sat out, they were never touched again. Sitting there collecting dust of what used to be. You were too stubborn and Jinx couldn’t mentally put herself through the trouble of seeing you. Fast forwarding to 8, Jinx waited at the front of the Last drop, not bothering to go fetch you. You finally walked out, stuffing your gun into the slot of your belt before continuing ahead -knowing Jinx would’ve followed behind anyways.-. “The location is a good five miles away, apparently this is where they’re most active.” you sighed, glancing behind just to make eye contact with Jinx. Her eyes were almost like a doe, and you could see the curiosity in them either a mile or centimeter away. Choking on air, you turned away almost instantly, instead focusing on the destination ahead of you. Jinx could still feel her heart hit her chest as her heartbeat sped up, seeing the way your eyes were so sharp while looking at her.
Who are these people? Did they say? How long has this been going on?” Jinx questioned. With how much she’s been out recently, she would’ve assumed she’d find who had been causing trouble lately. “I don’t know Jinx. It shouldn’t take us long, it never does.” You replied. The streets were incredibly busy, stands full of intimidating bystanders, people who were affected by shimmer staring ahead and reaching out for anyone. Pricks who can’t keep their hands to themselves. Walking by a man who snickered along with his friend watched as you and Jinx walked by, not only yours, but Jinx’s glare following them too. One of them tried to reach out for Jinx, but that only fueled a fume in you. Who the hell did they think they were to try and grab her like that? What scum even thought they deserved to touch, Jinx? Even though Jinx had an incredible eye, on top of her insane speed, you beat her to laying a hand on the man who tried to touch the blue haired girl. You put your arm around Jinx, as if you were covering her from the dangers of the grubby hands, and swung. Your free arm swang quick to the cheek of the man, spit and blood flying out at the force.
His friend started to slur curses and what not toward you, but that was the least of your worries. You held onto Jinx’s wrist, pulling her out of the crowd that was suddenly forming thanks to the rather reckless behavior. “I could’ve handled it myself.” Jinx mumbled, causing you to loosen your hold around her wrist, then completely dropping it. “Yeah, and probably would’ve shot him. Which would be even more trouble for us already, Jinx.” you complained, avoiding her gaze. Jinx simply rolled her eyes, instead commenting on everything you two had passed by. She could never exactly stay quiet. Just another thing you loved about her. You learned to tune it out, though you’d be lying if you said you actually did. Once making it to the area, you already started to hear a loud ruckus, yells and shouts everywhere. Jinx walked beside you, peaking over to see the commotion.
“This is it, right?” Jinx asked. You nodded your head, looking into her eyes before pulling your gun out of its place. “Kill ‘em if needed. Let it be your last resort.” you reminded Jinx, which all you received was a groan with a nod and hurryingly running straight into the building. You, following after her, Jinx was already in action while she tossed bombs, the explosions going off in seconds. You followed suite, shooting anyone who came too close, but mainly stayed with basic combat and using your hands. “Listen, I know this is a bad time, but I can't stand being away from you anymore!” Jinx shouted hurriedly, moving in closer to you while recklessly shooting. The swarm of people seemed to grow longer. Note to self, Silco had no clue it was a gang, or simply didn’t tell the two of you. “Seriously Jinx!? We’re gonna do this right now?!” you shouted, throwing a punch after receiving a kick to the abdomen. “Why do you say it like that?” Jinx shouted back, shooting at someone who was rather quickly coming your way.
“Because we are in the middle of a fucking fight!” You complained, finally feeling the tiredness and sore muscles settling in. You tried to avoid it, pushing through the strain all over your body because you rather go through this suffering then leave Jinx to fend for herself. “Yeah I know! That’s why I’m bringing this up! Was it not obvious?!” Jinx continued to yell, grunts slipping past her lips as she fought beside you. Luckily though, the swarm seems to grow smaller by the second. “Not what I meant smartass!” and as funny as her remark was, you couldn’t physically find the time to laugh. Your body ached, and you felt as if you were about to throw up. Confrontation was not your thing. The moment Jinx spoke to you made your heart sink into your stomach. A good sign this wasn’t going to go well. You lost the attention of anyone else still standing, throwing sore and bruised knuckles in the temple of someone’s face and using the back of your gun to hit another in the head. With that, it seemed the fight was over. You and Jinx had won. Jinx pants, huffs roughly forcing their way out of her lungs.
You choke on your spit as you make eye contact with her, rubbing your face with the idea of the argument that was surely brewing. “You punched someone who was gonna touch me. You aren’t reckless like that.” Jinx started, as if this whole time she had been preparing all the things you did for her to use as her back up. “Because I’d get in trouble if he had gotten ahold of you Jinx.” you grumbled, letting your body fall to the floor despite the puddles of blood. The ache was soothing itself, even if it wasn’t by a lot. “No, because somewhere along the lines of us avoiding each other, you stopped hating me.” Jinx spat, yet in her tone you can hear the hope. The hope that you two still had something there, maybe hidden away in a locked box. But it was there. “Listen, Jinx. I didn’t know any better. I made dumb choices and so did you. And I promise, I’m one of your dumb choices. That you made very clear. Everyone gets sick of me eventually.” you mumbled, laying down onto the cold, hard concrete.
You let your eyes shut as you could feel the pulse in bruises forming, the ache wrapping it’s way around your muscles just like it’s done countless times. Your hair was laid in someone’s blood puddle, not sure if that blood belonged to you or not. “Would loving me be that terrible?” Jinx finally said, hearing the crack in her voice. Your eyes shot open to that. Prompting yourself up on your elbows, your eyes widen in shock. “You left me. Not the other way around. I loved you Jinx! I love you, but it wasn’t enough. I’m not enough for even one person.” you spat, feeling the anger spread its way throughout your veins. “You don’t really mean that do you? You’re just saying that! Liar! Liar liar liar!” Jinx shouted, her face scrunching up as the angry tears started to slip out. You quickly got up from your spot, moving over to Jinx as fast as you could. “No, no I’m not lying. I wouldn’t lie to you Jinx. Breathe okay? I’m not lying to you.” you quickly stutter out, seeing as her breathing grew heavier. Her hands reached out to grip at anything, her braid being the first thing.
“Hey no, don’t do that. It’s okay, breathe Jinx. I’m here in front of you, I will always be here for you okay.” you told her, not a single lie coming from you. You carefully unfolded her fingers from her hair, letting her wrap them around your hand instead. Her grip was tight, her nails slightly puncturing your skin. The faint sting didn’t affect you, as you whispered to her it would be alright. The tears that were rolling down her face finally dried, staining her pale skin as her breathing finally came to a calm. “I’m fine. Well I’m not but, I will be.” Jinx mumbled, slowly pulling her hand away from yours. You sighed, looking down at your own hands to see the bleeding crescents made into your skin. “I won’t leave you again.” you muttered, Jinx staring towards you with her large, blue eyes. She slowly reached her hand out, trying to wipe off dried blood from your temple. Though it only smeared, actual dried bits falling off of your skin and clinging to her thumb. “I’m sorry I reacted that way. Its just…i’ve seen this before. And I didn’t like it. Even though you weren’t really gone, it felt like I lost you anyways.” Jinx explained, though it panged you to see her face.
Her face was scrunched up, eyes glossy as she stared at the red stain on her thumb. Her voice was strangled, like barbed wire was wrapped tightly around her throat. “Jinx…I would’ve reached out to you first. I tried. I really did, that I can say until I’m six feet under. But it felt as if I was just a problem for you, so I kept my distance.” you told her, and it was the truth. Jinx went through a lot already, her love life shouldn’t have been another problem to add onto that list. “When we had that…thing going on, it felt as if I was sharing this part of me. It tore me apart. And I just wasn’t used to that. It was never your fault.” Jinx said, reaching out to cup your face. You stayed silent, trying to find the right words to respond with. You love Jinx, but sometimes words were hard, even if you knew that you meant them. Now seeing their reaction, what they can say to you, that’s what scares you. “I don’t know what I was thinking, leaving you behind like that, but it will never happen again.” Jinx attempts, your silence slowly killing her.
Your eyes were about to pop with tears any moment, and your throat was getting tighter. “Please. Say something.” Jinx mumbled, a single tear slipping out of her eye. To be fair, you were simply staring at her without saying a word, as if you had seen the most traumatizing thing in your life. “I love you. I love you so fucking much and I hate it. I love you Jinx, I’ll say it over and over until you’re duct taping my mouth shut because I can’t stop talking about you.” you finally got out, and then there was her gorgeous giggle. God how much you had missed that beautiful laugh of hers. It was so refreshing, as if you had dunked your head straight into cold water. Or finally getting the gentle relaxation. The cut was finally covered, taken care of sweetly with care. It was cleaned out and nicely bandaged. “God you’re such an idiot. I should duct tape your mouth now, toots.” Jinx teased, another laugh spilling past from her maroon colored lips that were covered in cotton candy chapstick that was surely worn off and needed another coat.
You didn’t hesitate any longer, quickly reaching forward to hold her cheeks and mush your lips together with hers. Her hands found their way to your cheeks as well, a hand sliding down to your neck as she returned the sweet kiss. She could taste the metallic iron in your mouth, not sure if it was you or her. Though she knew for sure your lips were warm, and even if they weren’t sweet with an aftertaste of something, or didn’t get the fireworks like they say in all the fairytales, she rather simply be kissing you in the moment. Jinx pictured a cheesy old-timey song played in the background of your kiss, sure it would do the trick to stir the pit in her stomach. Though you already had done that to her with your lips on hers, or your confession. She finally mattered, and even if it took a while for it to come clear to her, she still was loved and cared for. You still loved and cared for Jinx. Just as much as she did for you, and she was more than ready to take you home and spend the night smothering you.

You gasped awake, your body feeling numb as you laid there. You glanced beside you, to your left then right. It was empty. The warm sheets held you like restraints, letting out small huffs. Arms sore with a pounding headache, you shoved the sheets off you. A thin coat of sweat was covering your back, pulling off the jacket you had worn to sleep. “Jinx?” you called out. Was it simply a dream? You headed to your bathroom in your apartment, deciding to take a shower before you go out and search for the blue haired girl. Staring at yourself in the cracked bathroom mirror, you could see red stained on your head, and fainted bruises on your cheek. Your hair was tangled and the ends were hard, covered in something. You turned on the water, steam slowing coming out over the top. You undressed, waiting for the temperature to get just right before slowly moving under the water and sliding the curtains closed. Red slowly moved down the drain, letting the water pour over your face. You sighed, water droplets making its way into your mouth. Rubbing your eyes, you let the pooling water spill out. Suddenly, the curtains are pulled back. You gasped in fear, covering yourself as you turned to the side. There stood Jinx, looking at you.
She giggled at your reaction, slipping out of her own clothes “Sorry toots, didn’t mean to scare ya. I went to get us breakfast from the topside. Well, more like stole it but y’know what I mean.” she explained while taking out her long long braids. You chuckled, nodding as you started to undo her other braid to quicken up the process and finally get her under the water too since the cool air started to form goosebumps on your skin. After a few minutes of getting her undone, she finally stepped into the water. You smiled at her gorgeous eyes while she held your waist and spun you to switch sides, her now under the water as her maroon lipstick and black eyeshadow slowly smeared. You watched as her hair got drenched, while she reached for the shampoo behind you. Getting an even amount on her hands, she gently tangled her fingers into your hair as she rubbed it against your scalp.
A noise of satisfaction slipped from you, letting your eyes close at the touch. You let the blue haired girl pamper you, knowing you’d return the favor for her. One you were well cleaned and rinsed, she held you by your hips and pulled you in, her wet lips smothering your own wet face with kisses. You laughed at the affection, cupping her face as you turned her lips to your own. Taking your hand and gently combing it through the hair on her scalp, you stared warmly into her own blue eyes. “Let’s stay like this forever” Jinx whispered, her words made for you and only you. You only smiled, bringing a wet kiss to the tip of her nose. “Thank you for never giving up on me Jinx.”

It was dark in Jinx’s hangout, as she watched you go over her notes to make sure her work was correct on her tinkering with the book she had found for the work of the hextech device she “borrowed”. The music in the background was more of a hum at this point to the blue haired girl, as it seemed to cancel out the longer she stared at you. You added a few notes to things she had written, little things to possibly fix, but she didn’t bother to ask why or ask you to explain to her what was wrong with what she previously wrote. Because now you were twirling the little hair left that was unmanageable to fit in her braid between your fingers while you read her work and it felt like non-existent people were watching her to see if she’d make a move on you or mess something up.
Her slender fingers twitched as she wanted to move them to touch you somehow, but she had no clue on where to put her hands. On yours? Your shoulder? Your lower back or waist? What was the right spot? “Other than the two things I corrected, you basically got it spot on my engineer!” you smiled bashfully, which made Jinx melt. When she realized she hadn’t replied yet she grinned and slid the book back towards her. “Thanks beautiful, I just wanted you to double check.” Jinx said in her softest tone. She was trying her best to be kinder just for you, didn’t want to be overly pushy or go on missions without you.
Though she didn’t even attempt to put the same effort around others such as Silco or Selvika, -though everyone knows Jinx will do absolutely anything to mess with Sevika.- because she doesn’t need everyone else to see her trying to be the best she could be but that she in fact couldn’t stand to be somewhere you didn’t notice her. You gave her another breath-taking smile and leaned down, placing a peck to her cheek as she froze. “Anytime.” you had said before standing up to make your exit. “I'm heading down to the Last Drop! You should join me if you’d like.” was the last thing you said to the girl before exiting her hangout.
Jinx let out a breath she was holding, slapping her hand on her chest before letting what events had just happened settle in her brain. She rushed up, speed-walking to go meet you down at the bar as she didn’t want to waste a second being near you -as to her, every second counts when it comes to you-. Once she made it downstairs and happily sat in the spot next to you, she gave you a large grin. You gave her the gentlest smile you could muster and right then and there, she had felt like you two were the only ones in the bar. The bartender dropped a glass of the drink you normally order right in front of you, then went to grab Jinx’s personal cup. You and Jinx kept going back and forth, chatting about absolutely anything that came to mind.
Meanwhile, Jinx went on and on to describe what she found incredibly endearing and interesting in what someone's habits can be when it comes to going through an average day or even when it comes to a certain hobby. And it was all about you. All of those things that she named off the tip of her tongue naturally were things she had picked up from you. To the sleepovers where she saw your average morning routine, what it was like when you get ready for your day, to going to bed and seeing how stunning you were while sleeping. Even if you saw it as imperfect, and saw many other things much more gorgeous and graceful, she loved that even you didn’t have to be perfect. She adored the small things that could portray you as you -last time the two of you had a sleepover, she could hardly look at you when you would get ready for bed or your day together because she thought her heart would stop if she admired you too much.-.
You were in awe as you listened to Jinx ramble, and then went on talking about how much you agreed that certain people had habits you could adore so much. Could you not figure her out? How were you the only one who couldn’t tell she was crazily in love with you? And as much as Jinx just wanted to hurry and make you hers, make you learn she loved all your imperfections and show you how she didn’t want to share any of you. She didn’t want you to find someone else to have sleepovers with, long talks at the Last Drop, or check someone else’s work because you were one of the most intelligent person someone could know, or spill all of the most random facts about you, or the secrets you didn’t tell anyone else because they didn’t have a bond close enough as yours and Jinx’s.
Week later from now, every second of the minute, minute of the hour, hour of the day. God even the days by the week, all Jinx could think of was you. She was even out on a mission with you and was distracted by you defending yourself in a battle that she had been blown to the ground, scraping her knees. She didn’t even stutter to run and help you, ignoring the trickle of red liquid seeping into every crevice and crack in her skin, letting them bleed just for you. Jinx still replays the moment you two got back to her hangout, watching you in awe as you cleaned up her wounds, despite yours being just as appealing to clean.
Hell, she even cleaned up yours just to take it as a chance to flirt. There was no going back with that at least. Repeating the words of your gentle voice telling her it was okay to get a little closer. Days passed, and it was like a chase of whatever she was feeling for you, trying to find proper words to describe, name it. At a point she wanted to blame all of you, wanted to say you were possibly leading her on. Much to say like you were holding a treat in your hand and she was following you just to receive the goodness, something you could crave because of how appealing it seemed just to be rewarded with something so incredibly good just for being yourself.
She wanted to say you were leading her to a cliffs edge just because you could and she would follow whatever you had to say. Until one day, it seemed like everything was so clear like a gorgeous sea. You held her by the hip, chatting away with Sevika about a recent poker match, as she had been trying to teach you. Jinx refused to be separated from you, and you didn’t bother to protest, filling up Jinx’s head with dizziness, a sore stomach from butterflies. You asked Jinx to hang out with you that day, which ended up in her suggesting you two go and find some place to eat. Once you two were leaving the Last Drop, Sevika called you over, which you had gently wrapped your arm around Jinx to place your hand on her hip while you had a chat with the buff woman.
Once Jinx headed back home and went to change into her nightwear, she stood in front of her mirror and pictured an imprint of your fingers on her hip in gold like a sort of tattoo, touching the spot with care as she engraved the placement in her head. She swore she still felt the coldness of your hand there. And only the gods knew of all her pining for you, the patience she had to find the right time to even mutter how madly in love with you she was, made her hands shake. Even the moments you say her name, it still feels like everything just…stops. Just looking at you, hearing your voice repeat in her head, the beautiful glow she saw in your eyes, even when they could be the dullest in all of Zaun, she couldn’t help but get the urge to tell you how didn’t want you as a best friend but instead something more.
To the latest sleepover you two had, Jinx took it as a moment to be vulnerable because if she was honest, she could never feel like she had to lie to you. So laying in bed, late at night Jinx admired you. The two of you gazing at each other, JInx dares to say your eyes were loving to her. “You know, even in my worst times you managed to see the best in me.” Jinx whispers, and you’re positive this is the calmest she’s ever been near you. “Always. I…care for you a lot Jinx, I don’t think you’ll ever understand how much you mean to me.” You told her, causing Jinx to look down at a necklace that was wrapped so prettily around your neck.
The blue haired girl envied the way it got to be against you like that, unlike her. “God even through my worst lies, you still saw the truth in me. I hate that you’re so perfect. I hate that I love it so much.” Jinx whimpered. Her neck grew tight in fear of your reaction, feeling her eyes swell with tears. “I think I worry a lot. Sevika tells me I need to take it easy sometimes. And I even,” you started but cut yourself off with a faint laugh. “I get this anxious feeling too. But…when I’m with you, Jinx, it goes away for a minute when I’m here with you. That’s what you do to me.” You shared with her, bringing your hand up to tuck loose strands of hair behind her ear. Jinx finally looked up, making contact with your eyes. “What do you do when you’re unsure if you love someone?” she asked you, not even knowing if you had known an answer.
“Hun, you have to crave it. Chase it even. Just until you’re close enough to taste it. You know what I mean?” You replied. And if you were honest, you were scared she had loved someone else. Were you too late? Did you not confess in time? All Jinx did to your answer was give you a smile. Her blue eyes that made your heart race when she looked at you stared warmly at you. She leaned close to you, stealing a quick glance at your lips before leaning even closer to press a soft kiss on your cheek.
You laid there stunned until Jinx hopped up, gently linking her hand with yours and pulling you up with her. “Come on, I made you something and I wanna show you.” So leaving the four walled room that belonged to Jinx, the comfort followed the both of you as Jinx led you both to her hangout. The two pairs of feet pattered against the cold metal as Jinx picked up a trinket that was square, a large red button in the center. It was decorated with her little doodles in lots of colors such as pinks, purples and yellows.
She placed it into your hand, pointing at the button “Press it! You’ll love what happens.” Jinx eagerly said, her eyes wide as if stars were in them. You nodded, slowly clicking the button. A faint hiss filled the large cave, a boom right after as sparks of reds, pinks, and a silver filled the air. You peered around in awe, walking to the edge of the circle platform to peek even more at the gorgeous bursts of color. Jinx stood a few feet behind you, admiring the way you looked so beautiful under all the colors. “This feels right, doesn’t it?” Jinx said, walking over to her record and playing one of your favorite instrumentals for you.
You shivered at how beautiful she sounded, like her voice was laced with tempting mischief and gold. You spun around to turn around, smiling as you nodded. “You feel right.” You replied, watching as Jinx smiled to herself, turning away as if she refused to make eye contact with you. Carefully swaying over to her, you grabbed one of her hands and twirled her to face you. She looked into your eyes, seeing the reflection of multiple colors in her large blue eyes. “Are you asking me to dance weirdo?” Jinx teased, the two or you giggling like children. “Will you dance with me if I say yes to that?” You responded, Jinx simply rolling her eyes and wrapping her arms around your neck, swaying to the music.
You didn’t say a word, instead admiring the beautiful girl ahead of you. Her blue hair was out of their daily braids, instead in its normal long waves. She wore an oversized purple shirt, -it looked like the same one you were wearing a few sleepovers ago.- yet even without her trying, it was like she was the most beautiful art piece you had ever seen. “Penny for your thoughts?” Jinx asked. You let out a nervous chuckle, turning your head to the side while she lifted a finger and held it against your jawline, turning your attention back to her “I’m too scared to tell you what’s been on my mind.” You admitted, which made her tilt her head, her blue eyes looking at you oh so innocently. “What? Why? Tell me! Please.” Jinx jumbled out quickly, cupping the side of your face.
“Well since you asked so nicely…it’s because you’ve been the one crossing my mind lately.” You mumbled sheepishly. Red filled Jinx’s cheeks, feeling her heartbeat pounding against her chest. And since Jinx is, well herself, she decided to make one of her best impulse decisions yet. Placing her free hand on your other cheek, she pulled you in to connect your lips to hers. A few seconds in, you melted into the kiss, wrapping your arms around her and reciprocating it.
The kiss goes on for minutes, no one bothering to count. Jinx sitting on top of her table while you gently hold her close by her thighs. The beautiful sparks Jinx made for you ran out minutes ago but kissing her felt as if they were still there, made just for the two of you. Only pulling away once your lips felt numb, the feeling of being drunk of each other's kisses radiating into the air. “Does this mean you’ll be my girlfriend?” You chuckled, Jinx going in to kiss the tip of your nose “Only if you’ll be mine.”
