Pop-Up Beach Party [NA] GW2 RP Event

Aching for a vacation? Boring week looming on the horizon? Have I got the cure for you! Dr. Grotto of Lion's Arch Adventures is hosting an open beach party on Monday, April 15th from 2pm to 5pm EDT.

To join, find us in the RP Squad LFG Tab under "LAA Beach Party" or type the command "/sqjoin Eevee.9107" into your chat panel. We'll be just north of Bloodcoast Ward Waypoint [&BA4EAAA=]

Rules:

Chill vibes only! Please keep all squabbling to a minimum and leave rivalries at the door. You're in no way obligated to interact with other attendees, so it's no biggie if you have someone privately blocked - just don't rope everyone else into it!

you will receive up to three warnings for violating the above rule before being removed from the event. Particularly egregious conduct may result in a ban from all future LAA events.

This is an RP event, but you're not required to participate in RP if you'd rather just watch!

Come and go as you please - there's no obligation to stay until the event ends, nor to arrive at 2pm sharp. (That said, I do appreciate people who arrive on time if able - it's very nerve wracking when there's only 1-2 other people for the first 10 minutes!)

How did your commander/oc learn their elite? Who trained them? Are they self-taught? Do they mix and match with other elites of their class or another class altogether? Are they good at every elite or just one or two? Tell me all your your commander and their elite spec!

#Zori (soubleast ranger) is just... like that #Seremnis gained more reaper focused abilities after uh #nearly permanently dying in EoD. Due to Void poisoning via intentionally altered gunfire #and barely surviving with marjory and aurene's help #i still need to write that fic #but enkkioh's is definitely the most fun out of the three for this question #because- at least in part out of sheer spite for rata sum- she insists on learning local techniques #mostly for combat but also other things like material sciences #like how to make sandproof fabrics and housing #or metalworking #or- most importantly- spellbreaker techniques #directly from the sunspears #and tecnique and builds for gunsabers from what info she could find in cantha #(most importantly for this post i mean) #and like. if she's gotta earn that information? Honestly it's the tail end of an (admittedly still mostly vague) Multiverse Exploration Trip, sponsered by the fact that Enkkioh has already accidentally crossed dimensions (I know by actual lore the infinity ball is like- a fractal mists thing or w/e but also i do what I want) and also Zori possibly doing so on accident (which is how she missed LWS1. still have not decided where she actually went), meaning that once things seemed to calm down, they figured they should actually figure out how to do that on purpose?

And during the first trip they find a dimension they would really rather not be regularly accessed, to prevent people going there by accident, so it ends up as a sort of... big round-trip thing. Which. Mostly serves to make whatever crossover I want technically cannon if I want it to be? Though tbf 98% of it all is just living in my head rn. The vague plan is to more or less write out the first bit to set the vibes and explain context, and then write shorter bits for other crossovers as I tumble into new fandoms, but uh. Haven't done... a whole lot of actual writing lately?;;

Anyways Seremnis' main beef w/ the ghost zone is just... essentially, this is a whole dimension of people stealing her bit- the whole, ghostly powers and abilities thing- which would suck less if she were not very underpowered by comparison to a good, large number of ghosts. Heck, a lot of what she's capable of hinges on no one being prepared for the necromancy-self-resurrection bit, but because there are ghosts actually everywhere, way too many people actually have stuff that works to nullify that, and she hates it. So much.

Like- her main weakness is other necromancers, and this is, as far as she's concerned, the necromancer zone. She is small and scared and if anyone tries to insinuate as such she is going to bite them.

finding it incredibly funny that I have also managed to start fixating on dp/dc around now. Anyways since I tend to cope with these things via crossover seremnis is going to hate the ghost zone

So I've decided I need no provocation to talk about my characters and a post about mounts earlier got me thinking.

So- all my commanders sort of have their primary mounts; they all get two. I'll set one of them to the sorta default mount on 'x', usually the one I'd otherwise use the least, so I'm using these 'signature mounts' more often in-game- but canonically they're more-or-less the only mounts they have- though they lend some mounts to each other. Zori taught Seremnis how to call her skyscale if need be, and seremnis' griffon sometimes follows Enkkioh around when she's bored.

But!! what main two mounts each of the three has sort of follow themes related to their characters.

Zori has a skyscale (named Roro. after prince rorick. bc she's a nerd, which she got via already cannon skyscale quest in lws4) and a skimmer (named Strawberry, yes this is the same skimmer Strea had, that's why they bonded so fast). Both mounts are highkey geared for good, thorough, exploration- she loves heights, she loves swimming, she loves finding cool, hidden stuff.

Seremnis has a raptor (named Aria, that she summons from the realm of torment, and has the temperment of a puppy) and a griffon (named Requiem, a grumpy grumpy girl who only likes this weird salad, that seremnis got via the canon quest but after lws4, at the same time zori was doing the skyscale quest. She wasn't even an actual sunspear griffon she was just chilling there when the sunspears finally decided she could keep one, and now they are besties and seremnis lets her fight things and sometimes help dispose of. evidence). Anyways the theme is Seremnis likes to go fast, and likes to do so at least relatively quietly. There and gone, like a ghost. But also going that fast is just really fun, death 'defying' (like she'd actually stay dead) stunts and all.

And Enkkioh?

Enkkioh has a springer (named G-Force, because she's a nerd, which she bonded with because of the springer's genetic lack of long ears or tail and a similar color patterning to her own- and, fine, he's cute, stop looking at her like that) and a rollerbeatle (named Kinetic Friction, Kinetic for short- because I am also a nerd- which she got through the cannon quest, as a sort of apology to Gorrik and Blish for distrusting them so much at first. Of course, the result was so absolutely cool that she now apologizes by trying to take gorrik on rollerbeetle rides. C'mon gorrik. It's so cool gorrik. I updated the belt system so you won't fall off this time gorrik.)

...And the theme here is that not a single one of these is a flying mount. (Also neither of them are in any way quiet or subtle.) Enkkioh likes a good leap, sure, but there's always obvious ground in sight, she never gets high enough that landing would be an issue. Enkkioh is in both the literal and metaphorical sense my most grounded character- asuran came from underground, and she feels that in her bones.

In short- she's afraid of heights.

...And she's the character I'm playing through SotO with.

An expansion where you can't traverse the whole map, or even most of the map, without a flying mount.

Were you manipulated by a dragon, only to be tossed aside to find your own fate when they kicked the bucket? Tired of being a spectacle or cautionary tale? Want to spend time with people who won’t ask the same annoying questions?

Join me in Southsun for a Dragon Discards Getaway. Refreshments provided. BYOS (bring your own seating).

Getting There:

I recommend sailing west from Lion Point Waypoint, but if this is your first trip to the island, you can also navigate along the southern and western coast from Camp Karka Waypoint. Be advised that this route is longer and more dangerous.

 The event is held on a very tall ledge. I will use a shadow portal to transport anyone lacking a skyscale from the cliff base to the event site.

Event Rules:

Keep it civil. If you want to fight, take it somewhere out of sight, out of earshot, and outside the event space. [This rule applies to both IC and OOC. Some events allow for mild IC confrontation, but this one does not.]

This is an exclusive event. If you do not meet the criteria, you cannot attend. We are not spectacles for your entertainment. [note - that's only an IC restriction, so there's nothing stopping your character from lying to get in. Additionally, OOC lurking is fine and does not break this rule – but indicate this with a balloon novelty or by staying off-group, please!]

Oh boy- I think... none of them would, but for very different reasons Seremnis just outright doesn't trust them. It's half trust issues, half 'where were you when half of this garbage was going down? No, I don't trust you with my memories, I don't even trust you with Tyria. If you move wrong I'm stabbing you.' She's not... overly attached to most of her memories- there's some she wouldn't really mind losing, there's just absolutely no one she'd trust with that process. Too easy to manipulate. Enkkioh... also sort of doesn't trust it, but in a different way? She's worried they'll get too preoccupied with what's all up there on cloud level and forget what it feels like to be on the ground, so to speak. She's fully convinced they're doing their... best, but she's hung out with Seremnis and Zori long enough to know it's incredibly important to have a normal voice of reason in any group. She's sort of... so-so on the memory thing, she keeps good enough notes on all her inventions to remember those, so... eh...? Zori would treat the ascension much like being commander- a necessary sacrifice to keep tyria spinning, because who else is going to? ...Except, very specifically, for the memory bit. Losing her memories is probably one of her worst fears- she puts so much weight into remembering things correctly and without bias- how are you supposed to learn from history if you don't really know it? What else of a person is left once they're gone??? She can't forget. She can't. There might be no one else left to remember. She has books upon books in journal at this point documenting every event, every person she knows. all ordered in proper priory-style documentation. Someone has to remember. (Don't ever forget.)

i think that killing a dragon should have catastrophic nuclear-fallout level environmental consequences tbh. their blood should scorch and wither the earth with fire and poison, the toxic fumes released as they decay should choke the land and all nearby living creatures, and the entire landscape where they fell should be transformed into a blighted wasteland where bleached leviathan bones loom upwards out of the ground as a warning that can be seen from miles away, the boundary markers of an exclusion zone.
