Never be over how wrapped up they got in each other before they really talked. The ILY and kiss. The cute giggling. Sigh.

This! Writers put their heart and souls into those fics. Least we can do as readers is give them some good feedback.
Friendly reminder!
AO3 has currently had to turn off guest comments due to an inundation of spam comments. If you are not logged in or do not have an account, you will not be able to leave comments on an authors work. There is currently not an ETA on when guest comments will be allowed again.
At a time when engagement is already low, authors are going to lose more comments.
If you have an AO3 account it is now more important than ever to leave a comment if you've taken the time to read someone's work.
Even if all you can do is leave "loved this" "great work" "!#^&## omg!!" It will bring such a smile to the author, I assure you!
If they have their tumblr listed, and you're a guest reader, consider leaving a comment through their ask box.
Comments are truly what keeps authors going and a large part of what makes the work and effort worth it.

Ooooh loving this description. Tim being metro is interesting…wonder what’s going on. Also I wonder if this is the ep with the explosion from Eric’s Insta? I’m excited and intrigued.

Look at this man constantly reassuring us. He sure loves us as a fandom. Why he’s one of our captains. ❤️ Eric love ya so. I’m excited where this is going for them. S6 showed they both have growth to do. Hurts to have to go through but when we’re on the other side we’re gonna be so happy for it.

I adore this man so much. Thank you Captain. ❤️ Love him touching on Lucy too. Keeping us sane out here good sir. Rays of sunshine and good nuggets. Never be over how much he loves this fandom. They’ll get stronger everyone. We’ll get there. Once again so grateful for this 3 week hiatus and these cameos from our main guy.

If you aren’t reading this fic you need to be.
From the ashes (chapter 2)
Sixty-five days later
Walking into Mid-Wilshire after two months undercover is a strange experience. Everything feels the same and yet different at the same time. Lucy supposes that makes sense; after all, she’s spent the last two months pretending to be someone she’s not, and now that she’s back she’s finding it difficult to remember how to be herself.
She spots him before he sees her, across the bullpen at a desk with his back to her as he pours over a stack of paperwork. One by one, though, her colleagues become aware of her arrival. An initially scattered applause spreads through the bullpen, and she can see the moment it reaches Tim because he lifts his head and looks around, eyes widening in surprise when they find hers.
The corner of his mouth quirks up slightly and she offers her own small smile of acknowledgment. She’s unsure if it’s because she’s not really herself right now or if it’s just the passage of time, but seeing him doesn’t hurt quite as much.
The debrief takes hours, and it’s not until end of shift that Lucy finally makes her way back into the bullpen. Tim is at his desk once more, eyes fixed on the computer screen this time, but he lifts them to her as she approaches.
“Hey,” she offers tentatively.
“Hey,” he greets, giving her a quick onceover out of habit. “You okay?”
“I think so?” she answers, though it’s more question than answer. Tim tilts his head curiously and she adds, “It’s… weird. Being someone else for that long. I feel like I’m still her.”
He nods in understanding. “Makes sense.”
For a moment neither speaks, but then Tim continues before the awkwardness can creep in. “Heard you took down the entire operation,” he says, and despite the vast chasm of fractured emotion that still lies between them, she can see the pride in his eyes.
“We did,” she replies.
Silence falls again, and Lucy wonders if it will never not be awkward between them.
“You look better,” she offers, an attempt to fill the silence. He’s clean-shaven, eyes clearer and much less haunted than when she left, and as much as she’s missed him, she thinks it may have been for the best that they didn’t have any contact for two months. They both needed to begin to heal, and she doesn’t know how effectively that would’ve happened if they’d had to see each other every day at the station.
“I feel better,” he confirms. “I still have a ways to go, though.”
“You’ll get there.”
“I hope so.”
“Chen.”
Lucy turns at the sound of her name, finds Harper and the lead detective from Narcotics motioning her over. She turns back to Tim. “Sorry, I have to…”
“No, it’s fine,” he assures her quickly. “We can talk another time.”
“Right, okay, yeah,” she stammers, fighting the conflicting desires to maintain a healthy distance between them but also to continue their conversation because it’s been more than two months since she’s seen his face and heard his voice.
“Hey, Lucy?” Tim calls softly as she turns to leave.
“Hmm?” she asks, pausing to toss a glance over her shoulder.
“I’m glad you’re back.”

Hi Caitlin, how are you ? If you have time, I need your help with something. I seem to remember, right before season 6 started, we got a bunch of promo pics and one of them was of Lucy looking down on Tim laying down on a firefighter stretcher....Did I imagine that picture ? I tried a bunch of hashtags and keywords and cannot find this picture. Did I dream it ? Was it from season five or from an episode we already got ? It's just, I remember them sharing "The Look™" Thanks :)
Hi, I’m doing well thank you for asking 😊 I hope you’re doing good too ❤️ Well I don’t remember anything of the sort for S6. Now it would make sense to link it to the premiere. They had just survived that epic battle. They were beat to hell. There was fire and ambulances on the scene. But I don’t recall any pics like that. But I wasn’t hunting for spoilers either. So if anyone else saw this please chime in ha I would’ve loved this but as we all know the premiere was very go go go from the jump. I was hoping for a moment like this post battle but we did not get anything of the sort sadly. But made sense with how the premiere started off.
Otherwise only other time he would be been on a stretcher would’ve been in the 1x01 when he was shot. Or 1x20/2x01 when he had the adverse reaction to the vaccine. Lucy was in the ambulance right next to him in 2x01. So maybe you saw a promo shot from that? She’s definitely looking down at him on a stretcher in that scene. If you thought you saw S6 might’ve been a dream? I personally never saw anything of the sort sorry. Idk this was helpful at all LOL But thanks for asking happy to answer :)

Preach! I love every single bit of this. Thank you for posting it. Fantastic. Gonna be ok every one. It’s the getting there that’ll be the hardest but it’ll be worth it.
I’m about to say something that will probably be controversial, and I might withdraw right back into my happy little bubble right away here. But I feel like it needs to be said.
I think one of the number one issues the fandom is facing right now is that this hiatus was so long that people got too invested in their headcanons.
Am I sad about the breakup? Absolutely. But I don’t feel betrayed or led on or even that the writing of the characters has been bad. On the contrary, I feel like what happened is incredibly in character.
Tim has always blamed himself for far more than he should. He’s always had that undercurrent of self-loathing. He’s always been the character to fall on his sword to protect the people that he loves, even if it ends up hurting them in the process.
In short he’s always been an incredibly complex character. That’s what a lot of us love about him. And then we have Lucy. Yes, she’s hurt right now, and she has every right to be. But she’s also forgiving. She’s been introduced from the beginning as having a psych degree and using it— looking at the deeper meaning behind people’s actions (especially Tim’s) and helping them. Why would that change now?
Obviously it’ll be a process, and I don’t expect anything to be truly resolved by the end of the season. But I do still trust that we will get there. No one— Not the actors and not the network, have said or done anything that indicates any differently.
I guess what I really don’t understand is the bleakness of the negativity that seems to have pervaded the fandom in the last week. I’ve seen so many takes that upset me so much more than anything I’ve seen on the show. We absolutely should not be bringing up the actor’s personal lives, at all. Lucy eventually forgiving Tim and allowing him back in is not akin to going back to your abuser (this take actually made me feel physically ill).
Tim going to therapy is not shutting the door on Chenford forever.
Everyone is allowed to feel how they feel, and work through those feelings however they need to, but no one needs to invite negativity into their spaces. I think that we all just need to take a deep breath. Step away if you need to. But also have a little more faith in the process. The hints are all there. This is something that Tim and Lucy need to work through to become a stronger couple. They need to better themselves first. There’s nothing toxic about that.

To me they’ve gone through all these stages. First one was guardian/puppy. I mean she was someone Lucy looked out for and Tamara reluctantly let be in her life at first (S3). Then roommates in S4. Post Jackson. Where stability and trust were built more. Towards the end of S4 became friendship/family. Definitely by s5 we’re in sibling territory with the teasing. We see Tamara become more protective of Lucy. Be insanely happy for her with Tim. For me Lucy has always had maternal instincts toward Tamara.
Definitely have seen her as a pseudo daughter for Lucy. Unintentionally but the way she looks out and protects her is like how a parent would. Especially in 6x06. We joke she’s Chenford’s pseudo kid but she kinda is. That scene in 5x20 with the pancakes screams that. So I think all these answers are correct just in different stages. Why I’ve always loved their relationship. It’s grown as much as anyone else’s on this show. One of my fav dynamics tbh. I hope we see more of her in s6. If not s7. At the end of the day think they’re family with maternal leanings from Lucy.
Reblog to reach more of the fandom!

Our captains ❤️ We are so lucky to have these two at the helm of our ship. Couldn’t ask for two better people who embody their characters and care for us as a fandom. Can’t wait to see where we go from here. I have a feeling it’s going to be really good for them both.

I wouldn’t hate this. I’ll be honest.
Okay but what if Lucy goes UC during the break up, Tim says she's not in the right headspace for it and we get a call back to the conversation they had about UC when Tim said if he sounds the alarm about something he needs her to take him seriously and she doesn't listen to him because they aren't together. Then things go wrong for Lucy during the op
i've been saying that season 6 is a fanfic dream pt. 2 and that would totally fall in line to that haha. that would be so painful but also the spicy drama????? gimme.
can you imagine the tension and angst in that conversation??? and then lucy being in trouble? tim finding out (parallel to 2x11, maybe)??👀 OH IT'D BE SO GOOD. I LOVE YOUR THINKING MY FRIEND ♡
