Hey friends. So I ended up buying 3 of the Manly Indulgence candles, mainly for my husband, who wanted candles for his home office.

This one is ok. I don’t love it. It smells like moderately priced men’s cologne. Probably won’t get this one again.

This one is good. It’s calming, smells like a sugar cookie mated with a pine tree which I know sounds weird but trust me. I’ll definitely buy this scent again.

This one is incredible. I love it and immediately ordered another. The description makes it sound like it will be a heavy, woody scent, it’s not like that at all. It’s definitely masculine, but light and very natural smelling. It’s called Dark Forest but I feel like it kind of reminds me of the scent of a loved one’s sweatshirt. Honestly, it’s every thing I didn’t know I wanted in a candle.

The August Candle

I like to call Redwood “The August Candle” because to me this candle is exactly what our favourite corrupt CIA agent would smell like. 

A waft of brooding masculine scent, fierce, savage, and nevertheless elegant.

Redwood has notes of pungent redwood sandalwood laced with Amber, moss and rosewood. It’s musky, stark yet it doesn’t make your nose curl. The fragrance stretches through your orifices and sinks down your lungs in what I can only describe as nuzzling a man’s stubly neck and inhaling his aftershave.

Of course, my favourite thing about Woodwick’s candles is that the crackling noise they make when you light them which provides a cody sensation of a fireplace burning.

The Gentleman’s Club

I am OBSESSED! 😍 Such a gorgeous scent, deep and earthy with the sweetness of the vanilla. Throws scent really, really well and lingers for almost a day afterwards with a lovely smoky vanilla aroma. DEFINITELY buying this again!

If this candle was a man, i'd marry it immediately because this candle is absolutely heavenly. If you want a soft, sofisticated but deeply masculine scent, this is it. Don't be put off by the awful name and the obvious link to those dreadful books!

Sadly, its almost impossible to get in the UK and Europe other than the tiny votive size, but the US site currently has the large candle at half price.

UK peeps who want the Mountain Lodge Yankee Candle but can't get it because its now US only - this one smells almost exactly like it. Like, its pretty much the same.

It looks like most of the UK is sold out of the bigger sizes, but Candles Direct has the votive size in stock at the moment.

Whilst it’s not 100% what Chris smells like up close (yes, he’s another one i’ve been able to have a sniff of irl), it is pretty damn close.

Past the seasonal pumpkin display, near the back of the store, you will find a trash pile Man Candle section. You will see candles called MMM, Bacon!. Riding Mower. Man Town. (I’m not kidding. Man Town.) Stay strong. Not in this section, but likely very near this section, you will find a candle called Mountain Lodge.

Hold this jar in your hands like a talisman. Close your eyes and picture a man.

I want to be clear: I’m not talking about a Hugh Dancy. Or an Andrew Garfield, a Ben Whishaw, even a Tom Hiddleston. This exercise requires someone in the Chris Evans weight class. The Richard Armitage department. Someone with smile lines around his eyes who could chop the cedar for your bower with his own hands, strangle an alpha wolf, carry you home when you sprain your ankle in the woods, bench press your entire body. Picture this man in your mountain home with a full beard, a slightly grimy white henley, a fond half smile he reserves only for you. Now open the lid and smell Mountain Lodge.
