Made some tiny vending machines. Probably too tiny actually. Wonder what could even use those.

Been a while, actual progress is being made. The design of the game has become more focussed and that tightening of focus (along with some technical hurdles that instead of clearing i decided to entirely circumvent) has made working on this feel fun and exciting again.
I may be jinxing myself to burnout by posting about progress so early but whatever. The game in its current state doesn't have any external dependencies and is fun to develop for now so I'm excited for that.

A little update not of game progress, but of my IRL situation. I have started a new job very recently and adjusting to it is eating up much of my time. The short lived job I held before that and the rush to pack and move before that similarly consumed much of my free time. So I haven't had a regular schedule for doing consistent development since mid July or so. This new job should be way more permanent and way less physically demanding so here's to hoping I'll be able to get back into the rythym of things soon.

No screenshot today, sorry. But I can report that I have got some under the hood stuff going, as well as implemented double jumping.

Just finished an item from the to do list that has been on it for a very long time. It is close to perfect, I just need to add a tolerance to the colour detection so that it will be less likely to break.

After making some changes to how I store textures as well as how I name the textures, I have begun work on a new test map. This will be a starting point for the systems related to train car traversal. This change was not particularly difficult, but I did end up making a change to every textures in the game, as well as adding several texture variants that were missing from the game. It was incredibly tedious and I am happy that it is done but filenames for textures are much cleaner and I will have a very easy time adding new texture sets to the game from here on out.

Nothing to show dev-wise for the time being. Most of my effort lately is being spent on reorganizing assets. The current test builds are just meant to get the project off the ground, but before the project gets any further I will need to clean up the place.

Here we have a video showing off the test dummies as well as the new sprites for the nailgun ammo. All in all I’m pleased with the gibbing effect. These guys will give me something to test various planned features on, so I excited about that. They  might not make it into the game in any real way but you can look forward to seeing them in future videos as I get more of the weapons implemented.

Have a little video showing off the splash effects we’ve been working on. They’re looking pretty spiffy if I do say so myself.

Working on a potential feature. I like the art so far, but the trouble may be in the implementation. It would be a strictly cosmetic thing, so I wouldn’t feel too bad about not including it in the game proper.

No interesting and/or screenshotable updates at the moment, but I am making decent headway in terms of story and that sort of thing.
There won't be much story delivered to the player during gameplay, although environmental storytelling will be present, the bulk of the story will be in an unlockable "journal" of sorts which the player can read through at their leisure. Finding secrets, collecting items, defeating enemies, and reaching the different train stations are all planned to unlock pages of your journal.

A quick melee has now been added to all weapons. It was relatively simple to add and makes weapons feel that much more polished.

Every good FPS has crates in it and now that I have crates in mine I can guarantee that it will be good.
In addition to these fun crates here, I realized that my 32 colour palette was only actually using 31 colours so I added a new shade of purple and tweaked a few other colours. The effects aren’t particularly noticeable but the red range and the purple range now have much more contrast to bring them in line with the other colours.
