sam and alice have such a beautiful relationship. it is clearly a dynamic based on long term deep-seated genuine care and intimate knowledge of each other, which is why it is just so heartwarming to see that they still manage to constantly say just bordering on friendship-endingly cruel things to each other because they have matching cases of late stage foot-in-mouth disease. <3

Imagine:
Sam, who's still new enough at his job that he doesn't know the unspoken rule "If a dishevelled bloke comes looking for Gwen and claims to be her brother, pretend you don't know her and walk away".
So when a dishevelled bloke comes looking for Gwen and insists he must see her, it's a family emergency, you see, he's her brother, Sam, being a good lad at heart, gets him a visitor badge and takes him to see Gwen.
Who gets one glimpse of him, stands up with an, "Absolutely NOT, Elias, haven't I told you not to come here--"
"Hello, Gwen," says Elias like the headache that he is.
And the computer speakers crack in three voices in unison, "ELIAS BOUCHARD".

This is now a fic because I'm incapable of not acting on my plot bunnies

tmagp incident idea of an extremely bored security guard narrating his thoughts on a night shift to his phone, before watching a man through shitty CCTV camera footage slowly tear off his own limbs and eat himself until only his head is left and yet somehow he is still alive

Ok, let’s look closely at Celia’s statement because Magnus Archives made it clear the exact use of language is important.
Spoilers..
Celia didn’t say she was a mother. She said she had a baby and she doesn’t know who the dad is
In Marked, when she woke up the side of the motorway, she tried to call someone to get help…
Which suggests to me - someone else is at home. Or at least there’s someone she could call for help. Because someone looks after that baby while Celia is at work
What if the baby is not hers? She’s raising Jack, possibly with someone else? And that’s why she doesn’t know who the father is - because she’s not the one that got pregnant.
When she says she had a wild couple of years, that could mean all sorts of things. It could mean a lot of drinking and drugs. It could also mean struggling through the end of the world. It could also mean coming through the new world and trying to find her place - fighting monsters here.
Because her date with Sam seemed to have an awful lot of digging about Sam’s background and the Institute and the cases.
Anyway. That’s my theory. She cares for Jack, but Jack is not her baby.
And my favourite theory right now is - it’s Agnes’ baby. And the baby is in hiding, safe with Celia, where whoever is using Agnes can’t find it…(and if it is Jack Barnabas’s baby that would explain why Agnes called it Jack)

ok here's my hot magnus protocol theory: the gifted kids program was really a program meant to find a new archivist (which explains why gerry (eye-aligned) and sam (EYE-ALIGNED, SPEEDRUNNING GETTING HIS ASS CEASELESSLY WATCHED) were there) (and could also explain the artifact storage category of 'catalyst') and [error] is a failed archivist trapped beneath the archives until sam and alice unknowingly freed them.....
also sam still searching for answers for why he wasn't chosen even all these years later to the point where he has the voice of the ceaseless watcher's former special little boy egging him on tells me he may have been a better candidate for archivist than the institute realized. which. bad news for sam. great news for us, the viewers.

the way sam could have been so close to becoming an avatar, the chosen one, from the magnus institute, manchester but he wasn't. this time we're looking at the perspective of someone who could have been and is now taking that could have and making it a definitely, out of their own free will, as opposed to jon who was forced into his role every step of the way.

I feel that with this latest episode it’s more obvious the emphasis on physical damage in Protocol. You pay with your body, you change yourself, you give blood to this entities so that you might reap a benefit.
There’s the self harm in ep.2 and this one, the doctor in ep.3 changing completely into a tree, the violin from 4 always takes blood in one way or another, the guy from the liminal spaces ended up with one finger missing, we have the descriptions of mangled bodies from ep.9 and 12
It feels like nothing can stay under the surface anymore. You will become a living tapestry of your life and it will be the norm rather than the exception.
