30 Random Facts About Me

It’s been a month since the last post so I’m back. I know that no one would ever care to read about random things having to do with me but I did it anyway. Enjoy. :) 

1. I designed my prom dress in my junior year in high school. It was a black cocktail dress with silver crystals detailing on the chest area. I wonder where it might have been right now. How I wish I kept it as a remembrance.

2. I don’t like anything with mint. Somehow it feels like you put toothpaste on anything with it. 

3. I love cheese. A lot. Cheesecake. On chips. Anything with it. Yes, please.

4. I’m not into games. Not that I don’t like it but I guess I’d rather read a book than spend my time playing. I remember when I was young, I have Dress Up on my laptop and that’s it.  I don’t know if you’ll consider it as like a “real” game. I bet no. 

5. I love spicy foods. So much. Like extreme. Wait, who doesn’t? 

6. I get cold easily. No matter what the temperature is, I have to sleep with a comforter/thick blanket. My friends always tease me because even though I’m not skinny at all, the stored fats that are supposed to help me get warm isn’t working at all. Too bad. 

7. I'm easily entertained. You can make me laugh so easily. And I’m an absolute crybaby, you would probably think I’m a little bit crazy.

8. I’m obsessed with fish sauce ( Patis). Everyone that knows me knew how addicted I am to it. Like I literally have it every single meal. Insane. And unhealthy. Whatever. Haha.

9. I’m not really a fan of coconut. I’m aware how healthy it is but I just don’t like it particularly when you mix it with foods.

10. I’m addicted to Instagram. More than any social media. Maybe because it is more personal and private compared to others. It is like a photo diary with fewer complications and drama than facebook. 

11. I have fear of airports. My anxiety level if I have flights to catch are always incredibly high. I have once missed a flight so that serves as a painful lesson and left me with a little bit of trauma on the side. One of the worst situation I’ve ever been.

12. I’m an Overseas Filipino Worker since I was 21. I started early so I can help my family financially. So I’ve been away from home for the past nine years, absent on a lot of special occasions but that’s what you do for your loved ones. 

13. I’m a green tea ( with lemon and ginseng) addict. I usually drink 4-5 mugs daily.

14. I recently enjoy biking. I used to have bike back home and just roam around our village. It was different here in Calgary though. Better in a lot of ways. care to join me?

15. My bike’s name is Rusty. Yup, it has a name ladies and gents. It’s an old bike from my Kuya which is also from his friend which apparently isn’t the original owner as well. How confusing I know.

16. You will always see me with a book. It calms me more than anything. It brings me to another world. It’s magical, can’t even explain how. Give me a good book and you won’t see me for hours.

17. I’m starting to like make-ups. Ever since I started working abroad, I was exposed to make-ups and slowly started to put some bits and pieces. I’m not an expert but I really do want to learn it so badly. Youtube helps a lot btw.

18. I love Grey’s Anatomy. More than any series out there in the history of the world. I’ve seen every single episode.  I can literally spend a day-off just watching it and I can name all the characters. :)

19. I’m a worrier. I know this is not something that someone should be proud of but I’m born like that. I overthink most of the time.What can I say? It’s a character flaw but I’m working on it. 

20. I’m a recycling police. Since I’m staying at home most of the time, I really do make sure that all waste are properly segregated. I think it’s amazing how many little things we can do that can make a real difference.

21. I love mugs/cups. People who know me give it as a gift because they know for sure that I’ll like it. Probably because I’m obsessed with coffee and green tea.

22. I draw. Sometimes. Nothing like the extraordinary talent but yeah somehow I can. No high expectation, please. Haha.

23. I’m a registered nurse in the Philippines. Worked in a public hospital there for two years then 5 years at Saudi Arabia.

24. I have diaries ever since high school. I kept it in a box and every time I go on vacation I still read it. It’s funny because somehow I can laugh when I realized how silly I was with all those petty writings. Up to now, I have like six journals. 

25. I cook most of the time so I barely ever go out to eat, unlike other (cool) people. Unless on special occasions. I really enjoy cooking and experimenting in the kitchen. I also like to make dishes either of something I have had at somewhere or from the internet.

26. On music, I guess I like almost anything and everything except Heavy Metal. Recently I was exposed to Country Music here so I’m starting to like it too. Faves are Pink, Beyonce, Sam Smith, Ed Sheeran, Chloe Kohanski ( The VOice), Bruno Mars and the list goes on.

27. I’m a tequila kind of girl. Wine is great but I will still choose Tequila. 

28. I've watched Netflix more than I care to admit. Most of the time, I’m  torn between watching Netflix and living my life. Haha.

29. I’m a list maker. The journals that I was telling you on #24 consist of so many lists of everything that I wanted/needed to do.

30. I was naked when I was born. Kiddin. Uhm, Without my glasses, everything is blurry. One thing I literally can’t live without.

Who I am Subscribed To On YouTube?

Those people who are close to me know that I watched Youtube more than the traditional TV shows. Ever since I discovered how fun and insightful youtube is a few years back I got addicted. 

I subscribed to a lot of channels but below are the Youtube personalities or celebrities that I really enjoy watching almost every single day. Call me crazy but my spare time usually is lying on a bed with the latest uploads of these inspiring people.

She’s probably the number one on my list. I really do love her a lot. I’ve been a fan for almost 4 years now. Insane right? She's an English fashion and beauty vlogger, YouTuber, and author. She has more than 12 million subscribers on Youtube so I guess that’s a valid proof of how great she is. ( Insert so many hearts here. )

Please do give it a try and visit her channel. She was actually in the Philippines for a meet and greet two weeks ago. Wish I was there. :)

Wil is the only guy YouTuber that I have on my list. I’m a fan of his sense of humor, lack of filter and risk-taking spirit and crazy behaviors. Sadly, he was diagnosed with cancer a couple of months ago, which definitely broke my heart into pieces, but I’m telling you he hasn't changed a thing.  Always bringing good vibes & always smiling.                        

These YouTube stars are actually influential figures for me. What makes them so appealing is that they are so relatable in a lot of ways. They are not afraid to be funny, weird or speak up about the things that they believed in.They are very entertaining and always do numerous interesting stuff that will inspire you to go out of your comfort zone or be a better person. These are just basically my opinion. Don’t judge me. Haha.

Dinosaur Capital of the World

Before the summer began, we decided to visit Alberta's largest town which is Drumheller. Known for its extraordinary scenery and fascinating history it became one of the many popular tourist attractions here in Alberta.

From Calgary, it took us an hour and a half to get there. You’ll know for sure that you had arrived when you see a lot of dinosaur decorations scattered all around their downtown. Most street corners have colorful statues of dinosaur that will honestly catch your attention. 

After roaming around for a bit, we went to our next destination, the very famous  Royal Tyrrell Museum.

The Royal Tyrrell Museum is a Canadian tourist attraction and a centre of palaeontological research[3] known for its collection of more than 130,000 fossils.  Located 6 km (4 mi) northwest from Drumheller, Alberta and 135 km (84 mi) northeast from Calgary,[5] the museum is situated in the middle of the fossil-bearing strata of the Late Cretaceous Horseshoe Canyon Formation and holds numerous specimens from the Alberta badlands, Dinosaur Provincial Park and the Devil's Coulee Dinosaur Egg Site.

The museum doesn't look much from the outside but once you get in, you are transported to another world. It is very educational and captivating and believe me, anyone could easily spend a full day there ( although we just stayed there more almost 2 hours since there’s a lot of other beautiful places to go in Drumheller). 

I expected the place to be crowded since it was the weekend but surprisingly it was pretty calm and quiet. We really took our time to explore the whole area. The kid in me that time was just in awe of everything that I’m seeing. The dinosaurs that I saw only in books or in movies are right there in front of me, that was really amazing.

I really do recommend this place to anyone who’s going to visit Alberta. It's great for kids or should I say I was fun for all ages. The rest of what we did will be in my next post. I know this is pretty long already, yup, I can read your mind. Haha.

Random Q & A ( Part 3)

Hey guys, how are you all doing? ( I’m pretending I’m talking to someone here. Crazy!) It’s been a while since I last posted anything on this blog. I feel guilty but anyway it really doesn’t matter. I enjoyed summer so much that I never had the chance to visit this at all. 

Here are another random questions that I got from the internet. I don’t know why but I enjoy reading stuff like this a lot. 

1. What would be harder for you, to tell someone you love them or that you don’t love them back?

I came from a very affectionate family that’s why I always find it easy to express myself if I like or love someone. So I would say, telling someone I don't love him back is something that I never did before and something that I don't plan on doing anytime soon. haha.

2. What do you think would be the hardest thing for you to give up on?

Reading. I can't imagine giving it up. No. Please. Never.

3. Do you like spicy food? Why?

Soo freaking much. 

4. Something or someone you miss the most from childhood?

The first person that came to my mind is my grandfather. He was my hero when I young. I learned a lot of things from him. It still breaks my heart up to now whenever I think about him. He passed away ten years ago, definitely one of the saddest day of my life. 

5. What music are you listening to right now?

Thunder by Imagine Dragons. I love this song a lot. My fave is the part that goes ‘They say you're basic, they say you're easy, you're always riding in the back seat. Now I'm smiling from the stage while you were clapping in the nose bleeds.’

6. If given an option, would you choose a holiday at the beach or in the mountains?

If I had to answer this question a year ago I know I would answer the beach. But since exposing myself with biking and a little bit of hiking last summer, I realized I’m more of a forest/mountain type of girl. I just feel at home in the middle of those giant trees but it is sometimes scary though.

7. When was the first time you had tasted the alcohol?

I think I was at second year in college when I first tried it. I forgot what’s the reason why we decided to do it but I was with a friend and we were really drunk that night. I remember waking up the next morning with a severe headache. We ended up looking for a restaurant because we are both starving. 

8. If you get a chance to be reincarnated, whom would you like to be born like?

Can I be a Kendall Jenner or Gigi Hadid? OH my, I am laughing while typing this. Even in my wildest dream, it still feels weird wishing to be like them or living a life like them. I’m fangirling so hard again. 

9.Have you ever been on a blind date?

Nope, never tried it before. I would probably be awkward the whole time or end up doing something crazy like saying “ Can I go home now?”. That’s terrible. Yaay! 

10. For an all expensed paid trip, which place would you like to visit?

Maldives. I’ve watched a lot of travel videos about this place and seen so many gorgeous photos as well and I literally fell in love with it right away. How much more when I see it in person. I really wanted to visit it someday. 

11. Have you ever had a crush on your best friend but never told him/her about it?

Oh yeah, totally. I had a crush on one of my closest guy friend in college. And when I say close, what I mean is we pretty much trust each other a lot that he can tell me whom he likes at that moment ( who happened to be one my closest friend). I know, it is like those stories that we read on books and yup, it actually happened to me. Been there done that kind of stuff. But when I look back I realized it somehow made my college days a lot memorable. I still smile whenever I remember it. I hope he doesn't read this blog because I never had the chance on telling him all of that craziness or maybe he knows it? I don't know. 

12.  What’s the last thing you took a picture of?

I checked my phone and it is a screenshot of me and bay ( the boyfriend) in messenger. 

13.  Were you named after someone?

Oh yeah, my name is a combination of everyone’s name in the family. Haha. Just kidding. CY is from Cynthia ( my mother) REN from EfREN ( my Father). JO is from Juliana ( my grandmother from father side) CEL is from Cecilia ( my grandmother mother side). Are you still with me? It’s confusing I know.

14.  Who has had the most influence in your life?

My mother. Simply because all I wanted in this life is to be like her. More specifically with the way she takes good care of the whole family all this time. I wish I could do the same.

15.  When do you feel best?

After I prayed at night before going to sleep.

Random Q & A

Hey you, just giving you a warning of this pure craziness. I just thought that a very random Q & A is interesting. 

 1. If someone gave you the power to save just one animal species on earth, which would it be?

Dogs. I just think they’re real people in their past life. There’s something in them that makes you feel loved and at home. 

2. Where would you go in a time travel machine? Would you stay? 

Philippines. Home with family. Just having a simple dinner or watching the daily news together while having a cup of coffee. Would I stay? I hope I can but apparently I can’t, does it make sense?! :(

3. What's the absolute best vacation you can imagine?   

I have nothing in mind but a beach and a sunset. Anything with it , please count me in. 

4.   Do people really get any wiser as they get older? 

Definitely. All those good or bad experiences that we had taught us a lot of life lessons. And it makes the person that we are right now. A better one.

5.  You can give one object (the same object) to everyone in the world. What is it, and why? 

A book because it can take you anywhere. Promise.

6.  You have to drink four pints of a liquid per day (not water). What is it?

Green tea. Everyone who’s close to me knows how much I love it. And honestly, there are days that I drunk more green tea than water. I don’t know if it’s even healthy anymore but it happens a lot of times. Guilty me.

7.  If you had to pick a new first name, what would it be? 

Samantha or Alexandra. Mainly because if they have nick names it would be Sam or Alex. How cool is that? I always love guys names on girls. ( How confusing, I know)

8.  What is the stupidest thing you did during the Summer after high school ended ?

As far as I can remember, we went on vacation on my mother’s  hometown. One time, we went to her childhood friend’s house and ended up meeting the son who I think has the same age as mine. So we went on a couple of outings ( with the whole family) and I just felt that he likes me. To cut the story short , I just think I’m stupid just by thinking about it. Pure imagination. Haha.

9.  Who's your fantasy celebrity boyfriend?

Okay so I don’t have like just one celebrity. It is like a combination of all sorts. I like Drew Arellano’s witty and very outdoor personality, Chito Miranda’s sweetness and Will Dasovich’s funny personality and face. 

10. Do you believe in love at first sight?

No. It never happened to me. I dont know, I think I always believe that loving someone is a process like you need to get to know him first. You might be attracted to the good looks at first but I’m telling that isn’t love yet.  

11. When you meet someone of the opposite sex, what do you first notice about them?

How they talk. Looks is always like a bonus for me. I always admire guys who knows how to talk to others respectfully. I always noticed guys who knows how to handle converstions.

12. Which is the one job in the world that you would love to do? 

I would love to be a travel show host or a vlogger. I love the opportunities that goes with it. 

13.  What is on the walls of the room you are in?

A Supergirl calendar with a checkout receipt from the library to remind me about the due date of the book that I borrowed.

14.  Tell me something about you that most people don't know.

I am too sensitive. But I guess as time goes by, I learned how to control it. But sometimes, I failed. Or should I say a lot of times.

One Year in the Snowy Wonderland

I’m still wondering why I chose to write tonight. I mean I tried sleeping but it doesn’t work. My head is exploding with loads of stuff that I can’t even understand why. Oh sorry, I know it’s been a while. This blog has been on hiatus for like ages. Blame me or the weather I guess. It is mid-April now and when I woke up this morning it was still snowing. I wasn’t surprise though because it’s kinda normal here. 

CANADA. The place where I wanted to be since the beginning. It was like when someone asked you where do you want to live or to settle down someday. I don’t have any other answer in my head. So you can’t imagine the happiness and excitement that I had when I first saw my visa. I will never forget that day. I knew I was approved already but the fact that I will be able to see it with my own eyes was totally different. 

I celebrated my first year a week ago. I don’t want to sound dramatic but every time I realized how blessed I was that I am here I get so emotional. I know I’m still on the first stage of the very complicated process of being a permanent resident here but I know that I will do whatever it takes just to be get to where I wanted to be in the first place. With God’s help off course. :)

Random Thoughts

When the mind kept on working and you can’t even sleep. 

WATCHING No Tomorrow on Netflix. It’s a romcom about a girl named Evie who is having some life crisis meeting a very charming guy named Xavier. She is the kind of girl who’s always on her comfort zone while he was the exact opposite. He have this belief that after a few months, it is going to be the end of the world so he had a list of the things that he wanted to do before that day. They end up doing those life goals together which I found very interesting and sweet. 

THINKING about life. Realizing how everything is so uncertain to the point that I don’t want to hold on to anything anymore.

EXCITED for the halloween. Trick or treating for the first time. I wanted to see those cute little children on their costumes. Arianny will be a Dalmatian on Monday.

READING this book for so long now. And I just finished it last week. People receiving calls from their departed loved ones claiming that they’re in heaven. It is a nice book but I just felt a little bit heart broken after reading it.  

PRAYING for my parents who is on their way home after more than a month on our hometown. They’re travelling from Samar to Nueva Ecija by land for two days. May God keep them safe.

DRINKING green tea with lemon and ginseng. One of my “can’t live without” stuff in my life.

EATING this biscuit that I tried lately. I’m giving this a thumbs up because it really taste good plus it’s healthy. 

WISHING that despite all the life chaos and constant changes, I can still keep those people that matters to me the most.

LOVING this little girl who’s making me smile everyday though I wanted to just cry at times. 

MISSING those people that I know will stay with me on my worst and on my downfall.

THANKFUL to God on keeping everyone safe back home. For the opportunity to be in a place where I can pursue my dreams in the near future. For making me strong despite of all the heartaches in the past few days. I thank God, for staying with me and for always reminding me of the good thing in life .

My Hometown

Last August, I had the most unexpected vacation ever. The plan was I’m going to spend a couple of weeks somewhere but unfortunately fate said it’s not yet the right time, so suddenly I decided to go home instead. Being an OFW for sometime now, all my past vacation was well-planned and organized. This one literally caught me off guard. But all is well. No worries.

Where do I start?! I spent my first few days travelling from Nueva Ecija to Eastern Samar for almost two days ( by land). Yeah, I know, you might be thinking how tiring it was sitting for that long. Well, it’s true, but we enjoyed it. A long joy ride with the family always makes an awesome experience, right?

Here’s a photo flood on how my vacay in my hometown turned out. 

 My Uncle Ferdie, my mother and my youngest sibling. We are about to ride on this ferry in order to go to Visayas Region. 

The trip was about an hour and a half and as always I enjoyed it. Always my favorite part since I was young, the ferry ride.

My father , who literally just slept the whole ferry ride because that was his only chance to get some sleep . He was the one who drove us all through the trip. Definitely the best driver though. 

It wouldn’t be complete without a day in the beach with the fambam. My cousins and Bunso.

Nanay and Tatay and Me. Beaches everywhere. We went to the next town to visit their church and on the road was so many breath-taking beaches. Though it was so hot, we didn’t mind going down and took some pictures.

One of the main reasons why we went on our hometown is because of our first grand reunion with my relatives on the father side. So many new faces but it was nice meeting them all at once. 

Yeah. I still sit on my father’s lap. I still hug and kiss him anywhere and anytime I want. :)

Those three weeks turned out to be full of fun memories and crazy random trips. Though it was kinda short but I’m happy that I had the chance to go home and see the people who matters for me the most. And that’s what life all about, enjoying the company of family and friends at any given circumstances.
