all over your mouth
She is within her, their truest form is of two;
Consumption and devotion, both the hunter and the prey.
The princess says, I would die for you.
The butcher says, I would kill for you.

spit the blood back, baby
She looked at him straight in the eyes, blue locking with blue, her eyes wide and bright, while flashing him her perfect cheerleader smile. “I need your help.”
He quirked an eyebrow at her. He didn’t think she’d ever been so quite straightforward before. “Well, it must be quite serious if there’s no time for you to play coy first, sweetheart.”
She scoffed, rolling her eyes. “Don’t pretend like you don’t like it.”
His hand went up to his heart, clutching his chest in mock offense. “Oh, I would never, love. I quite enjoy it as it is the only time you’re ever nice to me.”
(Or, Caroline kills Damon. It spirals from there.)

I’m sure someone has talked about this before but one thing I absolutely love about tbosas is how Snow’s descent into villainy is never once presented as something that was inevitable
So many villain origin stories portray this idea of a person who tries incredibly hard to be a good person, who takes every opportunity to be kind and to better themselves, but are ultimately doomed to fail by the narrative. Their environment and their circumstances make it impossible for them to be a good person, and while this is effective from a storytelling point of view it’s not exactly accurate to real life
In real life there is always a point where a bad person makes the decision to do something bad, they make the decision to prioritise themselves, their own power, money or desires over someone else. That’s how real life dictators are made, they are presented with every opportunity to be good, and they purposefully choose to not take it
This makes Snow’s storyline so effective because he is given so many opportunities to do the right thing and yet, at every single turn, he chooses to serve himself instead, exactly like how real dictators are made
Snow, unlike most people we see in the capitol, is in a unique position where he could genuinely have the chance to understand and relate to the people from the districts. He, unlike his classmates, is poor and spends most nights going hungry, he witnessed firsthand the cruelty of the capitol when Clemensia was bitten by the snakes for nothing more than lying about doing her homework, when his sister was forced to sell herself on the streets in order to feed the both of them
Throughout his book, the three people he is closest to are Tigris (who dislikes the hunger games, is a rebel, and a victim of the capitol forced to turn to prostitution), Sejanus (who is originally from district 2, dislikes the capitol and knows he will never be accepted there, and also a rebel) and Lucy Gray (who is a victim of the hunger games, from district 12, and is also treated horribly by the capitol). These are all people who gave him an opportunity to realise the cruelty of the system he was in, a chance to directly confront his prejudices and see that people from the districts are just the same as him, and yet he still refuses to take the chance to change
He is given every opportunity, he’s sent away from the capitol to be a peacekeeper in the districts, he forms personal connections with people from the districts, he helps Sejanus perform funeral rites, and yet at every moral crossroads he comes to he makes the wrong decision. He didn’t have to become a villain, and yet he made the choice to do so anyway, despite every chance he was given
I think it’s a really effective portrayal of Snow as a character, and it’s a very effective villain origin story for the type of villain that Snow is. It never once excuses him from his actions because it highlights just how accountable he was for his actions

i buried a hatchet (it’s coming up lavender)
Shauna turned around and there she was. Jackie. Her Jackie.
Her honey shoulder-length hair was in a perfect blow-out as always. Her big blue eyes sparkled, like rays of sunlight reflecting on the ocean. Cherry lipgloss shone on her perfect pink lips. She donned a strappy dress with flowers and she was lounging on her bed, with her elbows propped up.
It was a perfect picture, something that’d fit perfectly with her life before the crash. But that was then. Now, this sight had no place in her life.
“Jackie?” she couldn’t help the way her voice broke. “What are you doing here?”
She didn’t ask if she was really there. It didn’t matter anyway.
Jackie shrugged, her hair bobbing with the movement. “I missed you.”
Shauna hoped that somehow, this apparition was truly Jackie’s ghost coming back to haunt her.
Shauna swallowed the lump in her throat, her eyes prickled with tears. “I miss you too.”

Hunger Games didn’t really eat holes in my brain the way that it did for some other people but god the opening lines. The opening lines. Katniss wakes up in bed and immediately, instinctively reaches beside her, only to find the bed empty and cold. Before we even know her name – before we know literally anything about her or this world or her place in that world – we know that she loves someone. We know that she is reaching for where Prim should be, sleeping safe and warm beside her, but Prim is not there. She is not there, and her half of the bed is cold and empty. People talk about characters being “doomed by the narrative” when most of the time the character was literally just a well-foreshadowed death, but Prim WAS doomed by the narrative. It’s the very first thing we learned. It’s the most key, integral, important piece of information we’re given about everything that is about to happen: Every single choice Katniss makes is to protect her little sister, and it isn’t enough. In the end, Prim still dies. Prim was dead before the story even started. Katniss, reaching. Prim’s side of the bed was cold and empty. There is no version of this story where Prim could have been saved. Katniss, reaching. The very first thing she does in the series. She wakes, and she reaches, but Prim is already gone. THAT is how you do Doomed By The Narrative. Edit: Also it is key that there was literally nothing Katniss could have done differently. If she had not acted to save Prim, Prim would not have survived the Hunger Games. But by acting to save Prim, Katniss accidentally kicked off an entire rebellion and ultimately massively increased the amount of danger Prim was actually in. The key is that this is irrelevant. If Katniss had done literally anything differently, Prim still would have died. If Katniss had faltered or changed course at any point, Prim still would have died. There was never a point where Katniss could have changed Prim’s fate. There’s no version of this story where Prim lives to see the end of it. She’s dead before the story begins. That’s doomed by the narrative.

So let me get this straight
1. Elon Musk buys Twitter
2. Elon Musk unbans Andrew Tate
3. Andrew Tate picks a fight with Greta Thunberg
4. Greta Thunberg ratios the shit out him
5. He gets mad and posts a video response
6. There's a Romanian pizza box in the video which twigs Romanian police of his location
7. He is raided and arrested for human trafficking
That is some fabulous fuck-around-find-out shit and a great end to the year.

all the skeletons you hide
for @little-miss-sunny-daisy
There was a man leaning against her porch column.
More specifically, Klaus was leaning against her porch column, with his hands in his pockets and his lip quirked upward. Caroline was pretty sure there was blood at the corner of his mouth.
He didn’t waste time on niceties, instead, he cut straight to the chase: “You didn’t come to my party.”
