OMG, they are SO CUUUUUUTE!!! 😍 😍 😍 You know just how to make my fannish heart soar and squee. Seriously, looking at it fills me with so much joy, you have no idea. I can’t stop smiling.
THE POSE! So utterly adorable, I can’t even. Dean cuddling him and pulling him against his chest, awwwwwww! His hands all protective around him, you can totally feel the softness and love. And Cas between his legs, leaning against him cross-legged, are you trying to kill me with cuteness overload here? They are so close, with Dean looking over Cas’ shoulder and the position totally lends itself to Dean kissing Cas’ cheek for a word he got right. 😁 (I know you didn’t know about the kissing deal at the time, but it is the perfect position for that anyway!) The tree was definitely a nice idea for them to lean against and they would absolutely go out for some peace and quiet on Dean’s favorite hill every day.
And THE EXPRESSIONS! Heh, SO FUN! The way Cas is squinting at the book, trying to concentrate on the letters (and probably getting distracted by Dean’s closeness) is so him! And the way he’s holding the book, I can almost hear him stumble over a word, trying to figure it out. (I almost had a part in there where he was confused about ‘knight’/ ‘night.’ That’s what I imagine here. I ultimately didn’t include that scene because I thought maybe someone would point out that during the Middle Ages, the ‘k’ in ‘knight’ was actually pronounced. I mean, I didn’t make them talk like people talked during the Middle Ages anyway, and historical accuracy wasn’t my main goal because this is a *fantasy* medieval world, but anyway…)
And Dean! So patient with his student, and his expression makes it clear he’s so in love. He’s having lots of fun, too, because he gets to cuddle Cas and be all proud of him when he makes progress. And the colors of the clothes… awwwwww! Of course, I love the symbolism and details on Baby and her saddle as well. She’s also very cute and fits so perfectly, grazing in the background and giving our lovebirds some space.
THE BOOK! I LOVE the callback to “A Journey to the Fae Land.” And the three-eyed toad and the snail! 😆 OMG, this is too awesome! You just know Cas will pick that book immediately when they return to the cabin. And I had to laugh out loud at the words on the back of the book. (I totally vibe with your sense of humor.)
Thanks again so much for gifting me this piece of fanart (and the three others). I can’t believe I have an illustrated fic now and I’m forever grateful. This one is now my new desktop background. (Maybe I will rotate between them.)

And it’s such a funny piece, too, it just makes you smile and chuckle and instantly brightens your day. Dean’s expression is the best! All self-assured, and OMG, the gesture with his hand underlining his words is so Dean! And the hand on Cas’ shoulder, pulling him against him, awwww!
Poor Cas, meanwhile, is all big and round eyes, trying to seem inconspicuous, but you can basically see him gulp, and of course all sweaty. 😁 Again, both their expressions are just priceless.
You’re so creative, I love all the little elements you included! The little ‘w’s are such a nice touch! I love the symbolism. Talking of which, THE COLORS! So many levels! I don’t think I would have picked up on the royal colors as the opposite of their designations, but now that you pointed it out, that is an awesome idea to include! And of course, the royal colors are also in the background. Love the thrones with the red curtain as a frame. And I also dig the painting in the background, which makes it more throne room-y.
And their clothes really brighten it up. The flannel-y shirt, heh, so much fun! Definitely the right call not to have them wear their crowns.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!! 💖 💖 💖 I can’t believe how adorable this is! They take every opportunity they can get to snuggle. 😁
The way they’re trying to hide in the shadows, Dean pushing Cas into the alcove and being all protective in the process, awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!
I just love their embrace here. Dean shielding him with his body, arms around Cas’ back/ waist, and Cas hugging him right back (because where else is he supposed to put his hands? Obviously around Dean’s back and shoulder, hand inching its way to the back of his neck; perfectly normal hiding position they got going there 😆).
Cas’ expression is so sweet! He so enjoys being cuddled and protected, but at the same time, he wants Dean’s cuddles all to himself and is longing for his touches, the lovesick idiot. Poor thing doesn’t realize that he already has Dean.
I love how they fit together, Dean just slightly bigger so that Cas can snuggle into his shoulder, so close to Dean’s neck that he’s about to take the opportunity and scent him. (He's so close anyway that Dean's scent is calming him.)
And their outfits are awesome! You can tell that Cas’ outfit is inspired by his trench coat, but is still a fitting ‘bandit’ outfit. And Dean’s hood! Still every bit the incognito prince, heh.
And while they’re off in their alcove, enjoying being so close to each other, there’s a sense of danger in the background with the shadows of the guards.
The colors and the light/shadows are great! Gives off a mysterious atmosphere of the secret tunnels underneath the castle.
I love it so much, I'm all giddy now. Thanks SO much for this awesome piece of art and for making my day! 💗 I can’t believe I’m lucky enough to have gotten two pieces of fanart for this fic! 😍

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek! LOOK AT THESE AWESOME ILLUSTRATIONS!!!!! 😍💖😍💖😍
Okay, now that that’s out of the way and I’ve calmed down a bit (although I’m still all asquee), let’s start with the first one when they’re kids after Cas rescued Dean. They are SO FRIGGIN CUUUUTE!!! Cas with his too-long coat. Awwwwwww! 😍 That’s so creative! And them just staring at each other, Cas a bit worried, the poor thing, and Dean all dumbfounded.
I love the magic emanating from his hand, the bracelet forgotten on the ground, and from his eyes. And “dragon slayer” Dean with his sword! Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek! They are just the cutest pair! Also, I love the setting! Yeah, that’s exactly where they were playing. Oh, and Cas’ magic mimicking the waves in the background but more glowy is a nice touch!
And the one where they’re adults!!! Again, so cute with them staring deep into each other’s eyes. The shy smiles—you can so see from the expressions alone how much they are in love. And then there’s of course the way they’re so close, closer together now, holding hands, which makes it very intimate. (Eeeeeeeeeeee, holding hands! Totally about to kiss or scent.) This time, the magic is swirling all around them, now that Dean has taken the bracelet off. And OMG, the magic forming a heart between them! How are you so great with details? Speaking of details, I love Dean’s belt buckle. You chose such a nice outfit for him. And little Cas has grown into his coat, awww!

OMG!!!!!!!! This is the CUTEST! I am so in love with this and it brought such a huge smile to my face. Actually, I can't stop smiling here while staring at the awesome art.
