Heeey. I'm a fan of your works, but in some of them I noticed they're a little Seb self-centered, as he is the main centre of attention or the only one who is having problems or issues with his past. And it seems like Stefano is only here for support and as if he doesn't have any kind of issues (and Sebastian also has to give him some comfort or support, I mean his trauma from the war or his past lover...). Anyway, I love the way you describe your relationship so far, especially in displaced, it's just my opinion so don't take it the wrong way🙏 hope you keep writing about them
Hi :) Thanks for writing!
This is a really interesting point, and one I had to think on for a little bit. Most of my writing is from Seb's point of view, and he's the character I identify with the most, probably because there are things I can draw on from my own life experience that also appear in his story. I would speculate that the reason Seb's guilt, grief, and other emotions come across so strongly is that I'm familiar with those feelings, though of course in much less drastic circumstances than our boy Seb.
While I do also enjoy writing Stefano in some very dramatic situations, I just don't have the same connection with him as a character that I do with Seb. In addition, my head-canon for Stefano is that he processes his emotions differently than the rest of us, which is not to say that he doesn't have them, but that they might be expressed differently or less noticeably than you might expect from someone who is more neurotypical (especially Seb, who canonically emotes pretty hard). And of course at the end of the day, I just need them both to comfort each other, which is basically the point of most of my writing.
Those are my general thoughts, but if we're talking specifically about Displaced, I must admit that story is 100% me working through some stuff. I usually set out to tell a story about Seb and Stefano and end up weaving in some elements of my own issues, but Displaced really is just me blatantly using Seb to process some stuff from my own life, so it makes sense to me that this story in particular comes off a little self-indulgent (or Seb-indulgent, haha). I am so glad that people still enjoy it, and I think it's a good example of how different people can get different things out of a piece of writing. Displaced was what I needed it to be while I was writing it, and I'm happy that it's also what (at least some) readers need it to be in their reading experience.
So glad you are enjoying the story, and thank you for this thought-provoking question!
