There’s a concept I’ve been seeing on TTTE Twitter where Edward could easily win over Diesel- which.. idk, I feel that’s underselling the problems with Diesel.

Diesel comes to Sodor claiming that diesels are Revolutionary™️, so he already comes in thinking that steam engines are beneath him. Things aren’t going to automatically change if Edward comes to greet him kindly bc Diesel would probably still think quite lowly of him- he doesn’t need kindness, he needs to stop thinking a certain way.

I'm just going through the Edward tag and I saw your post about him not being an old man and I thank you for it cos I really feel that too, like he's Old Fashioned and experienced, but not Old in the same way Toby and Gordon are. Edward to me always reads at most mid to late 30s, and not Old or Elderly. An old soul in a young man's body.

I hope ya don't mind that I put this ask off for this 22/2/22 Twosday!! It just seemed Right~ 😸💙🚂

I'll try not to repeat said ask too much but I gotta write a bit!

Anyway, thank you very much for this! I still see Edward being insistently referred to as "The Old Man" or similar on a daily basis, but it's nice to know it's not just me and Jobey manning the 'Well, Actually--' cannons! XD

He really has the Energy of a younger lad! He's cheerful and plays around, he's helpful and (similar to Thomas) somewhat impatient, always raring to go and Do Something, which often leads to him helping others out while he's at it lol

But yes, he can still enjoy the older timey things, if he was human I can see him reading his favourite horror stories and meticulously repairing a mantlepiece clock. He comes into work the next day with a sore back, not from age, but because he was taking pictures with a genuine Victorian Camera. He's been sat in a chair for hours, but a Cat settled on him and he wasn't going to disturb her! Circumstantial evidence reinforce Gordon's perception of him as Aged, but Edward has the subtle cheekiness and teasing streak of his own, and can chuckle this off without having to explain.

Edward's both a lot more experienced and mature than Thomas, which allows him to slide effortlessly into the mentor / big brother figure, but also with that is also that he can Relate and Understand the younger things and guide them into more respectable versions of themselves. Edward's not without his own flaws, of course, he's emotional and can be an enabling, people-pleasing silly billy nooo Edward dearest don't cross the picket line to impress your boss!!, but he has a knack for coming out on top in the end, and grinning broadly as he modestly says it was nothing, really!

Today is Tuesday, 22, 2022 which also means EDWARD APPRECIATION WEEK!!

Today until early March I'll post a little somethin' honoring our valiant blue engine! Anyone is free to participate just make sure you keep it appropriate - unless it's dank - and have fun! Considering it was he who started the series as we know it - revisionism aside - it's high time Edward gets his dues and I'm more than happy to give it to him!
