————————
The Avengers were on a mission in the streets of New York City. A new alien threat had invaded the city. They weren’t sure how they’d gotten there. That is, until a portal opened.
Natasha Romanoff, who had been charging at one of the aliens ended up tumbling through it. She hadn’t even seen it before ending up on the other side.
Hastily, she turned around, but there wasn’t a portal in sight. Luckily her training with the Red Room could come in handy in this situation.
First thing’s first, she needed to blend into the crowd. Then she needed to find out where she was, so that she could find her way back home.
But before she could even do anything she tested her comm’s. “Cap? Stark? Does anyone copy?” The silence that followed confirmed her suspicions.
She looked around her. The city she was in looked kind of like New York with it’s skyscrapers and people hurriedly walking around with their heads down.
“At least it won’t be too hard to blend in,” Natasha muttered to herself. She quickly got a change of clothes and stuffed her missionsuit in a backpack.
After that, she tried to find out where she was. The buildings definitely weren’t familiar. She was happy to learn that the people here were American, so she couldn’t be too far from home.
She ended up at a news stand and asked for the local paper. “The Star City Star,” she read at the top. She frowned. It’d looked like a big city, but she’d never heard of it.
She sighed and looked through the paper. She stopped on an article about local vigilantes that kept the city safe. Natasha kept that in mind in case she couldn’t find a way home by herself.
Quickly, she found out that nobody hear knew of New York City. Maybe she was farther from home then she thought.
It was starting to get dark when Nat decided to look for a place to sleep. Not knowing where to go, she got up on the rooftop. Her past made her stick to the shadows.
She stopped as up ahead she saw an archer looking down at the city. The woman pulled her bow back and pointed it down at a target. Nat snuck closer to see the target and saw a child hidden in the background.
Her eyes widened as she hurriedly ran to the archer taking her by surprise and causing her to miss her shot. The two started to fight, but the young woman was unmatched to Natasha’s skills.
The redhead didn’t let her guard down after knocking her out though. This kind of person rarely worked alone. Just as expected another young woman jumped out of the shadows a second later.
This one matched her skills better. The two fought for a long time. Nat pulled out all of her best moves, but the blonde came back with hers. Eventually, the two ended up knocking eachother over at the same time.
“Nice skills,” the blonde told her from her place on the floor.
“Thanks,” Nat responded incredulously, as she got back into a fighting stance.
“You knocked my friend out,” the blonde said as she got to her feet.
Nat narrowed her eyes. “She was going to hit a young child hidden in the back.” She pointed to the little girl still hidden down on the street.
“Oh,” was all the blonde said. “She was targeting the men. They’re an alien threat.”
Nat nodded. “I know. I followed them here.” She looked at the blonde and narrowed her eyes. “I’ll tell you what. I’ll help you neutralise the threat, if you help me get back home.”
The blonde raised an eyebrow, intrigued by the other woman. “Deal!” She said. “I’m Sara Lance, also known as the white canary.”
