I’m not pissed about people just now getting into fallout because of the tv show but I AM pissed that we have to watch the rehashing of the “are ghouls fuckable” debate like Mayor of Goodneighbor John Hancock hasn’t been popping his ghoussy every day in the Old State House since 20 goddamn 15.

so i’m a high school history teacher and i’m teaching a lesson about nuclear holocaust and i wanted to bring in some radiation detection/prevention tools so i just had to message my dad the exact phrase “do you have a geiger counter.” needless to say my father is not a known railroad operative.

I know we’re all tired of the “it was just a dream” trope, but I have such a raging hard on thinking about sole survivor going through the events of fallout 4, meeting the companions and even potentially falling in love again, only to awake in their bed next to their still living spouse at the end of it all, sweating and confused, traumatised from the life they were already starting to forget like one does with dreams; only to get ready for the day in the mirror with the strangest feeling stirring in their chest, walk into the kitchen for Codsworth to serve them coffee- for them to drop the cup on the tiles when they spot the Vault-Tec guy climbing out of his van with his clipboard, hurrying toward the front door.

Thinking about that recent "benny is a tragic character because he's dead from the moment you meet him" post and its making his stupid note actually seem really sad. Yes it's a hilarious note, but also? Well, if he wasn't a doomed character who was going to die no matter what anybody did in the end, then, god dude. You were gonna go on a date. Maybe, just maybe, it could have been something real. But you'll never know. You never get the chance to know. (Courier 6 keeping the note, first because she thinks it's stupid and she's gonna laugh at it with her friends, but later because she can't stop thinking about that "what if")
GOD, and no matter what you do, you CAN'T save him, you can NEVER save him!
And what gets me is like, and I know it was most likely completely unintentional on Obsidian's part because they ran out of time, but even if you spare Benny's life, save him from Caesar's Fort, kill all the legionnaires, even then, he still leaves forever, just as if he had died!
He's doomed by the narrative, and he's doomed by the game ITSELF

Danse: being a synth is terrible. my very body feels wrong and not my own. I was not the first consciousness in this and I might not be the last. I am a borrowed life on borrowed time. Most of my memories aren’t even my own and my entire identity is founded on lies

I heard Deacon’s “There're other organizations out there. And, in time, I'm sure they're going to spoon-feed you their own patented form of bullshit. Ignore the verbage, and look at what they're doing. What they're asking you to do. What sort of world they'd have you build, and how they're going to pay for it.” one time in 2016 and it’s lived with me for six years.

FO4 Companions Weird/Surprising Talents (Headcanon)
Cait: Is extraordinarily good at math. She didn't know how, it just came naturally to her. Mapping out the path of projectiles in her brain was nothing more than a simple thought, the ratio of hostiles to ammo always lurked in the back of her mind. Sometimes she even tells Sole, "Don't shoot 'em from here, the probability that you'll hit them isn't very high," And when Sole looks at her weird, she adds "Haha, high. Like me."
Danse: He can do, like, a very long handstand. Sole will annoy him to no end until he has a competition with them. He always wins. He won’t reveal how he has or found out about this talent, but Sole loves it.
Deacon: Can play the guitar. He taught himself after Barbara found one in an old music store. It took a while for Sole to find a guitar, but when they did, they found him playing it one night. They absolutely loved it and asked him to play it almost every night while they fall asleep. It has helped them go to sleep faster.
Hancock: Very very good at darts. He can hit the bulls-eye on a dart board from almost 30 feet. He says it’s something about his heightened senses, and sole sometimes compares him to that pre-war superhero Spider-Man with his spider sense.
MacCready: I think I mentioned this in his headcanon post, but he can play the piano. He learned from Lucy, who taught herself. He used to play for Duncan because they had a piano in their home. The first time he finds a piano in the commonwealth he gets a little emotional with all the memories attached. But he sits down and starts plucking songs straight from memory, imagining a little Duncan sitting beside him and messing it up by slamming the keys. His playing makes Sole cry and they softly ask him to play more. They make a note in their pip-boy of the location of the piano.
Nick: Most people think old synths like him were probably colorblind, but he can actually see more colors than a human being. Not sure if it’s a talent, but Sole really likes asking him what color something is and listening to him explain it to them. It’s like a world they couldn’t have imagined.
Piper: Can do a fair amount of gymnastics. As soon as Sole found out, they made her do a plethora of tricks. This spawned a fabulous idea in Sole’s head. They set up a stage in Sanctuary and had a combined talent show with the Atom Cats.
Preston: He can sing. He only does it when he’s alone, but after Sole is in a romantic relationship with him, he sings to them quite often. He will never sing in front of everyone else. Ever.
X6: Since basically everything he can do it talent compared to a human, Sole considered it all talent. He couldn’t do many things different than how he was programmed, so he doesn’t have a talent personally.
