ooh, hello!! since we’re talking about books, and you’ve got the same taste as me apparently, would you mind recommending a few? i’ve been struggling to find new ones to read. thanks if you do!!

hello!! ooo tbh i haven't been reading as much lately but i read roshani chokshi's newest novel "the last tale of the flower bride" recently and ADORED it. it's def not a book i thought i'd love but it's so gorgeously written and the atmosphere (very dark, gothic, fairy-tale vibes idk how to describe it) is exquisite.

also i'll rec my three favs from last year:

a man called ove by fredrik backman – made me sob like a baby, new all-time fav. (also inspired certain aspects of my all too well au which is kind of random but i have a vision!) DO check triggers tho bc there's a very prevalent one that for some reason most people recommending this book never mention???

tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow by gabrielle zevin – literally EVERYTHING i adore in a book: a focus on something i don't care about that quickly becomes something i care about (video games), a timeline that encompasses many years to the point that you feel like you grow up with the characters and are that much attached to them for it, and complex characters that you both love and hate, and complex relationships, especially platonic ones!!!! also made me sob like a baby after one specific scene i will never recover from (read a tw list!)

carrie soto is back by taylor jenkins reid – my first instinct is to assume you've read this already if you've read evelyn hugo & daisy jones but apparently a lot of tjr girlies have either skipped or not gotten to miss carrie soto yet and i think that's a travesty personally!!! this is my favorite tjr book to DATE and i love it so much. it has the making me care about something i didn't care about thing (tennis!) and the complex characters (carrie means everything to me) and complex dynamics (carrie and her dad! carrie and bowie! carrie and nicki!)

project hail mary by andy weir: if you like sci-fi or want to get in to sci-fi

i kissed shara wheeler by casey mcquiston: for coming-of-age vibes and slightly unhinged sapphics

bunny by mona awad: you want something fucked up

persuasion by jane austen: you want a classic and the ~yearning~ <3

anything emily henry but especially "book lovers": you like romance but not *too much* romance (aka me) (i like my romance to teeter more into women's fiction)

hopefully this is a nice selection! let me know if you want recs for a specific genre/~vibe~/etc. i love recommending stuff <3

I saw that you love the seven Husbands of Evelyn hugo and Daisy Jones & the Six and I've just gotta ask: have you heard of Burn the House Down by Kenna Jenkins? It's a fictional memoir/oral history (ala Daisy Jones) abt the 1st woman president and her secret sapphic relationship/bearded marriage with her mlm best friend (ala shoeh). It also ft. a subplot abt arson at the White House and an entirely queer main cast, really fleshed out characters, and a really satisfying ending!

hello just wanted to send a message to say you’re like my favourite writer in this fandom and anything of yours I read I’m instantly hooked and sold. I particularly enjoy your Louis characterisations. Your stories are just so easy to read and follow (I mean that as a compliment!) and are just very engaging <3

also, I saw somewhere your age and am honestly surprised considering how well you write. You’re just a few years younger than me, and I don’t think I could’ve written as well as you do when I was that age 😅 I was honestly expecting you to be a bit older idk why. Also another side note, sorry if this is too personal but I saw a comment on one of your fics of you saying your mom passed years ago. Sending my love to you. I too my mum when I was nearly 14 and in a weird way it’s always comforting to know there are other people out there who went through similar experiences, even if you know them personally or not, and that you’re not alone. Your fics are always a good escapism for me on my down days. Anyways you don’t have to publish this, just wanted to send a message of appreciation. ah yes i've gotten that comment about my age before!! also very flattering :') i guess i've just been writing a lot since a very young age so i guess you could say i've accumulated quite a bit of practice sjhkss

it's not necessarily too personal, i've certainly mentioned it a few times online at this point. i was 13 too, so it's been about eight years now (seeing that number increase will never not feel terrible to me) and i definitely feel the same as you regarding feeling comforted in a strange way that there are others who have been through this same nightmare :( we definitely aren't alone, and i like to think there's some solidarity there between all of us that have lost a mother.

it makes me happy that my fics can act as a form of escapism for you (and others!) and hopefully also provide comfort because i know i clung to so many stories for the same when i really needed it (and still do!!) 💗
