Finney is probably one of those ppl who only goes clothes shopping once his old clothes physically cannot fit him any more, like he’ll be re wearing the same shirts/pants/shoes/jackets for like 2 years. (He’s prob a bit malnourished so he doesn’t grow physically that much, which is why his clothes fit for so long) He’s probably rlly nervous when he has to ask his dad for new clothes.

REAL this is so me coded… i still have the shoes i wore throughout high school and my first real job and kept my old phones until they literally didn’t work anymore 😭

maybe an unpopular opinion but i really don’t think tbp needs any sort of sequel or prequel, especially not one focused on the child rapist antagonist lmao. it just completely goes against the point of the movie in the first place and what made it an effective and immersive story about victims prevailing against abusers.

the only way i could see it maaayyybe working is if it’s max-centric, oddly enough, because i don’t even particularly like him very much and he’s kind of a comic-relief character. but if they were to go the prequel “origin story” route i think that would be the best way to maintain the essence of the original while also exploring uncharted territory. idk man

#and tbh i’m just tired of the ‘abhorrent POS man origin/redemption’ stories in general lol #they’re rarely done tastefully and tv/movies r just way oversaturated with it now #but even in the case of max i can’t see any way to do a prequel without it being extremely dark #which isn’t necessarily bad of course. dark and depressing movies can be good. but again #hard to keep it in good flow with its predecessors if it’s overly dark #but yeah i just think any sequel/prequel would be hard to pull off and just generally not necessary #¯\_(ツ)_/¯ #the black phone #text #mine

@irritablehowlsyndrome yes i do!! i think they are both better at different things, like you said, griffin was able to physically appear and create auditory hallucinations (blood dripping) while paperboy was more on the poltergeist side of things like moving things around. pb was also able to more successfully show gwen the house and the grabber, even showing more notable things up close, like the tree. though, it’s hard to judge griffin’s abilities with the dreams as he doesn’t get one, and that arguably shows that he isn’t strong enough to cause one.

i don’t think it’s an age thing, as i consider vance to be the strongest despite him being the fourth victim and bruce the weakest despite being the third. i think it’s most likely something to do with, again like you said, how connected they are to their emotions, specifically anger. vance is plenty angry to say the least and definitely seems the strongest in my opinion. billy shows mostly bitterness and resentment rather than rage, and while he doesn’t manage to be as powerful as vance, he holds his own just fine. griffin seems mostly indifferent? he doesn’t act as if he particularly cares about details, knowing his own name, etc, shows only mild frustration but again he fares pretty okay. and then bruce just seems so separated from a normal range of emotions at all.

hard to tell with robin bc again he doesn’t get a dream, but i’d put him somewhere in the middle. he can remember things well and can channel his own emotions well enough to sound impassioned when he speaks to help motivate finney. but yeah, that’s kinda where i generally stand with it!! from most to least powerful; vance, billy, robin/griffin, then bruce.

adding on to my last post about bruce’s dream sequence and his inability to show the address correctly, this little detail kind of puts into perspective how powerful vance actually is. it’s already established vance is significantly more advanced in the supernatural than the others (and that bruce is definitely on the weaker side, sorry buddy) but his ability to manipulate gwen’s dreams isn’t usually brought up in these convos.

like, on top of his ability to physically affect objects and people (well, finney) through moving them, breaking them, and shattering their fuckin eardrums, vance seems to have no issues at all with showing gwen specific things in her dreams. like bruce and pb, he could show her memories as they happened in reality, but he could also alter those memories at will, easily choosing which details to change and when. he showed gwen the house number by carving it on the kid’s arm, he made the cop car drive to the house, he was able to project finney’s voice into the dream so gwen could hear him, thereby not only communicating with both of them simultaneously but also using the dream as a channel of communication for gwen/finney. even his movements carried over into the dream! none of the others could do any of this or even attempted to. paperboy showed only a memory, and bruce tried to alter the dream but like i pointed out before, he couldn’t really do it right.

honestly if vance doesn’t plan to cross over into whatever afterlife awaits him anytime soon, he could really make a name for himself as a poltergeist or maybe even convince people he’s a demonic entity cause damn!!!
