Jaime did nothing wrong. Except for pretty much everything after he killed Aerys.

People who have hope that HotD is going to be good somehow remind me of the people from 2014-2019 who were still holding out hope for GoT to be good for some reason, like “no, guys, they can still save it! They could start adapting books 4 and 5, they could pull it together! It’ll all work out! They have to have some plan! It totally can’t be that they don’t care!” and then season 8 came out and the writers straight up said that they never cared about the books and all of the people that knew it was unsalvageable were just like

HBO not going ahead with the spinoff series about the ancient Starks, and Direwolves, and the Long Night—but still doing the one about more of the Targs and their CGI lizards :\

It's kinda shocking that there's no hype for House of the dragon. HBO announced the cast and GoT and even ASOIAF fans are not excited. GoT was the most popular tv show of the decade and by the end the popularity and cultural influence was dissolved. Are ou excited for House of the dragon? or do you think GoT franchise is dead?
I'm not even remotely interested in it, and when you consider what happened with season 8, it's not surprising the majority of the asoiaf/got fandom isn't either.
Given the ridiculous plot changes and with GRRM still in the writing process, fans understand that it's impossible for the books to end anything like the show now. ASOIAF readers have little incentive to become invested in anything other than GRRM's books.
D&D and Cogman tried to gaslight Emilia and viewers alike in S8, insisting everyone "fell" for supporting the real "villian" - as though their inept ending was in reality some sort of social experiment; and everyone who didn't "get it" revealed themselves as horrible people.
When show fans called out their manipulative treatment of the viewers, the character and Emilia, the show runners doubled down, then changed their stories to paint themselves as victims.
Casual viewers and ASOIAF fans learned their lesson to not get invested in any Game of Thrones-related shows. Targaryen fans certainly haven't forgiven or forgotten. There's been very little fan interest in House of the Dragon on social media, aside from ripping the producer's choices of actors.
Fire and Blood readers know that HotD creators have nothing new to offer show fans. Targaryens who dare attempt to rise above their family history will invariably fail, go mad and die for angst. Targaryen women are forced into marriage, raped, impregnated and then die. Their dragons will die, just in case the audience has any smidge of hope left. Wash, rinse, repeat.
Gratuitous rape, nudity, dick jokes, and dragon battles can't overcome bad writing, and GOT viewers know it. I really don't know who HBO expects to watch; fans already know HotD is just an attempt to make more money off of the former popularity of Game of Thrones.

“So young,” said Wyman Manderly, “Though mayhaps this was a blessing. Had he lived, he would have grown up to be a Frey.“

A Dance with Dragons, Jon II
Emmett turned back, frowning. "My lord?"
"I will not hang him," said Jon. "Bring him here."
"Oh, Seven save us," he heard Bowen Marsh cry out.
The smile that Lord Janos Slynt smiled then had all the sweetness of rancid butter. Until Jon said, "Edd, fetch me a block," and unsheathed Longclaw.

"A year ago I was scheming to make the girl Robert's queen," Renly said, "but what does it matter? The boar got Robert and I got Margaery. You'll be pleased to know she came to me a maid."
"In your bed she's like to die that way."
