Hello Gilmore lovers! 

Ashlee here. A while back, an anon floated by asking if this blog would consider holding an annual Gilmore Girls fandom event because of the fun we had celebrating 20 years of the show last October. Since 2021 is rapidly coming to a close, I’ve been thinking about that suggestion a lot lately. Mulling it over. Toying with some ideas...

Anyway, I was wondering if any of y’all would be up for another appreciation week some time in December?? I’m thinking either the first or second full week. 

Lorelai does love snow and winter, right? 

That said, I’m going to steer away from anything holiday-centric so everyone in the fandom can participate. I already have some themes in mind. I’m totes open to other ideas or suggestions, though!  

I’d run everything from this blog again. Tweak the layout. (I’d just need help with creating announcement gifs or event headers or any of that because I’m mostly Photoshop illiterate. Like, for real. 😆If you’re interested you can message me here or on @austennerdita2533, which is my main blog.)

Hey! So I kbow it's been forever and a day ago, but I was wondering if you all were thinking about going annual? I really liked GG week, and I bet others would like a regular anniversary thing too!

Hello there, lovely! I know when we created the blog we’d only discussed running a 20th anniversary celebration, but I wouldn’t mind doing something annual if others were interested. I think that’d be fun. Fandom weeks are a blast! I love seeing everybody engaged and putting out new content for us all to enjoy. 

I’ll talk to Tara and Anja and see what they think about it. :)

I’d happily run another GG appreciation week in the future, though. I could easily tweak the blog. We’d just need new themes, ideas, dates, etc. 

I’m really happy to hear you enjoyed GG week so much. I did, too. Thanks so much for your interest and for reaching out!

This post marks the official end to our Gilmore Girls’ 20th Anniversary Week event. 

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to everyone who took part!!! It was an absolute delight to trek back through our favorite Gilmore Girls moments with you all.

Just a heads up: we’ll take a few days before we post the masterlist for the whole week in the event that we have a few stragglers. We want to make sure all of you are posts are included.

That said, your works these past seven days have been a balm to the heart, a hug in a brewing cup ‘o jo. Such active participation and enthusiasm was more than we could’ve hoped for, which is also a testament to how beloved this series and these characters are to this day, 20 years after their original conception. So thank you for electing to be part of our celebration!

Whether you created gifs or aesthetics or photos, whether you wrote fic, meta’d, created polls, commented in the tags, or simply visited this page every day to like and reblog all the new content you could find, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

An Archive of Words Between Us

One day, many weeks into it but still no closer to clarity about what it is between them, Rory does what she does best: she makes a list.

Marked at the beginning, from when she and Jess first met, she soon starts to add to it with frightening regularity. A new entry comes any time there’s news, insight, questions, or growing confusion to report. She writes it all down. Out. She compiles everything in a beat-up old notebook she’s taken to carrying around.

Over the years that follow it becomes a confessional of sorts for her, a still developing story. She reaches for a pen whenever the mood strikes, and writes…then writes some more…

Committing to paper all the things they’ve said to each other over the course of their history, as well as many of the things they didn’t.

- i. things we said when we were strangers -

“Hey, Dodger, wait a minute,” she calls out before he disappears behind the gazebo. “Is this a gimmick of yours? Do you always write margin notes in the books you steal from strangers?”

Jess stops. Casts a cursory glance over his shoulder before turning back around with hands in his hoodie pocket.

“Depends, I guess.”

“On?”

“Does it matter?”

Rory shrugs.“You could be a literature-defacing miscreant on the lam for all I know. Your face might be tacked to Wanted posters all over New York City. I’ve got to edge my bets, protect my assets.”

“What,” he says, “you aiming to sentence me without a trial or something?”

“Thinking about it.”

“Wow. I can’t believe you’re going to bust out the cuffs already, Judge Judy,” he chuckles, raising his hands in supplication before rocking backwards on his heels like he’s been shot. “That’s not very neighborly.”

“Sounds like there’s evidence to be had if I dig a bit.” A pause. A teasing quirk of an eyebrow. “Is there?” she asks.

Though he stays silent at this, a spark of something catches deep in his dark eyes as their gazes meet, and Rory’s stomach flips.

“Well?”

“You tell me,” he says, all smooth and inscrutable and James Dean cool as hell.
