I don't know if you've already answered any questions about this, but is there ever going to be another chapter in the Eric Coulter x male reader series? I just thought it was really good and I've reread it multiple times, and sometimes I come back to your account to see if another chapter has been added. No pressure to answer, of course 😅🖤
Awwww, that is so nice to read!!!!! Thank you, you have no idea what that means!
I have one half written chapter on my computer actually, and do want to finish it, but I am not sure when as currently my writing spirit is not with me xP but as you can see I posted the latest chapter years after I started the story, so there is a possibility for me to find my muse again :D
thank you again!! :D <3

FYI I just came across a thread on twitter which says that an author shared on google docs an explicit story with a friend for beta reading and google removed the file due to violation of TOS (apparently it has been updated where you are not allowed to share anything with sexual content). Not sure if it’s just this instance or if it’s going to become a widespread thing but if you guys write in google docs MAKE BACK UPS!!
(Instagram link to the screenshots)
Edit: also wanted to add that it seems that Microsoft word has the same language in their TOS so onedrive is not a safe alternative!

Started to read peaky blinders fanfic again, and the amount of times i had to close a fic because it was written by americans absolutely wrongly using british slang is insane
it is like that scene in the boys season2 where they have the recreation of butcher on tv just talking complete gibberish

Problems only writers understand
Having very chaotic notes on your phone
Having secret files that you will NEVER let anyone ever see
WHAT THAT WORD THAT MEANS THAT THING????
Why cant I think of a name?
Writing 10k words in a day then never again

Don’t Add Fanfiction To Your Goodreads Shelf
Hi folks, I know some of you like to use Goodreads to track all your reading and don’t want to distinguish between books and fanfiction.
I am, however, begging you not to do this. It is extremely jarring and disconcerting to be a fic author and find your works somewhere in the wild where you did not personally put them. Fics are not books, are not published in the same way as books, and exist in a precarious legal space.
Please don’t attempt to elide the separation that exists between fandom and the world of official publishing.

Angst fics can help people come to terms with their own grief, begin healing, or give people that good cry that they need.
Smut fics can help people affirm and accept their sexuality. It can help them explore their sexuality in a safe way. They can also just be fun, and having fun is a drastically undervalued way to improve your mental health.
Dark fics can help people face their fears or process their trauma. It can make them feel safer and more secure. It can help them find their courage.
Fluff fics can give people rest and respite and comfort. It can give them hope that soft places exist and that maybe there is one out there for them. It can bring up their mood, which, if they have depression, can be a life saver.
And every fic people write makes someone feel less alone.
Point being, just because a particular thing doesn’t serve you, doesn’t mean it lacks value.
This is not to say that we have to consume all fic uncritically. Of course not. It is just to say that entire “genres” aren’t trash or lacking value just because they don’t serve you.

Hi,
It’s you friendly neighbor fanfic author here. In the light of this apparent new trend of people feeding unfinished fics to AI to get an “ending,” and some people even talking about “blanket permissions,” let me just say this:
I EXPLICITLY FORBID ANYONE TO FEED MY FICS TO AI. DUDE, THAT IS ABOUT THE LEAST RESPECTFUL THING YOU CAN DO. IF YOU DO IT, SHALL YOU BE EXCOMMUNICATED FROM YOUR FANDOM AND WALK ON LEGOS BAREFOOT TILL THE END OF DAYS.
That is my anti-permission.
Thank you for your attention.

Me, an author, side eyeing my WIP: you're not going to do anything weird, are you? We've discussed this. There's a plan. We're going to stick to the plan, aren't we?
The WIP: *presents subplot, presents additional conflicts, presents character development, laughs in my fucking face*

can i just say, as fun as 'no beta we die like xyz' is as a tag, it really annoys me sometimes because it has spoilered me in 3 different fandoms about the deaths of people who do not even appear in the fic i am reading. like it is just spoiler in your face, untaggable

as a reader and writer of reader insert stories, i get soo frustrated when some people.. just.. dont understand apparently.. what "reader insert" means as a genre
i see stories where they give the reader a name (i get not wanting to use Y/N, but there are other ways to avoid that), use physical descriptors, write in first or third person
especially that last one i see so much
maybe i am biased but i think the core style of this genre of fiction is the second person POV writing style. Reader insert should enable you to put yourself into a story. You are doing this, you are going there, you are falling in love with your fav character
using first or third character is just.. regular fiction. it does not put the reader in the story in the same way. i know it can feel weird at first writing like this, but for the readers i feel it just puts it on a different level, a different experience.
i know this genre of fiction is often just laughed at and not taken seriously (like so many things mainly enjoyed by women oop, there i said it) but i think it is a lovely form of writing that lets the reader flee reality for a bit. so before anyone comes in the comments saying "hurdur it is not that deep", yea no shit, i know
as a reader insert author i can still complain though

i want to write fics but there is literally no piece of media i am passionate about atm, i dont watch anything or read any fiction (all history and medieval poetry atm, if it is not work related) and my original works also dont spark these 30k words in three days sprees that i have with some fics
worse than a writers block

IMPORTANT: TUMBLR & FANFICTION
Alright kids, listen up because @staff have pulled off a corker of a hot mess and have decided to add "Community Labels". I guess they've decided we can't be trusted to add our own warnings and people can't make sensible choices with what they engage with.
But why does it matter to me?
Tumblr have made labels AN OPT IN SITUATION which means every single blog here is automatically set to hide any triggering content
If you want to continue to be able to access and read fanfiction PLEASE go into your settings and click "show" on at least the "Mature" and "Sexual Themes" labels!!
ALSO IOS USERS: there's an extra fun "Hide additional content" bit just to really try and block us from any hopes of success. Make sure you opt out of that too otherwise I think content will be blocked on the mobile app!
Attached to this post are screenshots from my settings so you guys know what to look for. I could only find it on my desktop settings and not on the mobile app (for now at least)qq
