I never striked myself as the jealous type

But I always have

I thought I was over letting people and their actions hurt my feelings

Turns out that’s far from the truth.

When I end up alone in a place I call home,

Everything I’ve known comes up unannounced

My past has left me with open wounds

Open for those I love to stab further.

It hurts.

The faint echo of my conscience saying the table has already been set

“There’s no room for you here.”

It’s ok! It was just a mistake.

I’ll just watch from the window.

Enough waiting

That feeling you get when you’re alone.

You don’t mean for it to creep up,

But when it comes it consumes you.

I’m happy they’re having fun

Embracing the wind and the setting sun

But it reminds me of a past I left behind

A past that I was also excluded from.

I don’t mean for it to creep up,

The feeling of how I think I’m “too much.”

Or the way I overthink everything I said.

I choke on my own thoughts and ask myself,

Is this feeling even worth it in the end?

Listening to a new song

Not feeling so tired

Will this last much longer?

seeking out a comfortable sleep

I don’t find it very often

slowly close my eyes to the sound of guitar

something that helps my brain to soften
