A sideblog for my reading addiction. Always fiction. Fantasy, lgbt, historical, magical, poetry. Occasional nsfw (will always be tagged). Will try to tag everything according to what type of post it is, the book series it's from, and the characters involved! (Probably gonna be a lotta gay)
The Summer Palace will be an epilogue of sorts to Kings Rising and will focus on the characters of Damen and Laurent.
‘There’s a summer palace in Ios outside the capital. My mother designed the gardens there. They say it’s built on Artesian foundations.’ He thought of the meandering walks, the delicate, flowering southern orchids, the sprays of orange blossom. ‘It’s cool in summer, and there are fountains, and tracks for riding.’ His pulse beat with uncharacteristic nerves, so that he felt almost shy. ‘When all this is over … we could take horses and stay a week in the palace.’
Release date, cover and preorder info for The Summer Palace will be coming later in September.
Ann: “You were always so emotionally weak, Liddie—You were always
so desperate for love in any way you could get it… but I never imagined… I
never imagined until I saw it with my own eyes, that you would go so far with
someone like that, someone in that condition…”
Me: oh! she’s right, im gland that she can see that. maybe i’m gonna start to like her?
Super duper sorry I haven't been around, guys!!! I just started college and I've been really preoccupied with it. I'm barely even on my main tbh and I haven't been able to do much reading lately. Miss you guys tho!!! And I wish I could just read all day :(
Boyd let out a shuddering breath and hugged Sin harder. For so long he hadn’t known what to expect, hadn’t known what was better or worse, whether his actions with the best of intentions were right or wrong. Tension he hadn’t even realized he’d still been holding inside dissipated. Sin had chosen him over everything else. Over Annadale, over normalcy, over freedom. Over everything he might have ever wanted, and he’d come back to Boyd.

So, I’ve personally never seen any posts supporting or praising writers who have a clean, sparse style so this is one’s for them. Don’t let anyone tell you you’re a bad writer just because you don’t write flowery, extravagant prose full of metaphors and obscure words. Vocabulary and metaphors aren’t the only things that makes writing “good”. Rhythm, tone, clarity, word choice, and voice also makes writing good. And you know what? You can achieve that with minimal description and a complete lack of metaphors. Your writing, no matter how minimalist it is, is just as valid and just as good as pretty, flowery prose.
