HOSTILE TAKEOVER UPDATE 2: Dark World Dudes and Guys

Coming in with what is likely the 2nd to the last of these daily updates, we have more developed concept art for Noelle, Berdly, and a bit of Starwalker

Some fun concepts I had for Noelle here I worked on have her be a little different from her base form in DR. Though this is all up for change, I decided to really go with the idea of her taking after MTT a bit and giving her boots in the dark world. She also doesn’t directly attack with ice magic but instead sets up ice walls and fires snow and icicles at her opponents (to avoid any mishaps)

And here we have Berdly. Berdly’s armor I wanna say is only minorly adjusted from DR, though both of these are still concepts I’ve been working on so nothing is final. I really want Berdly to have a helmet here that either falls off or is knocked off to parallel Susie’s hair parting at the end of ch1! With him having big eyebags from gaming.

He’s a little maniacal, but feeling cool for the first time will do that to ya. He’s also got a helmet reminescent of masked man, it’ll make more sense when I post the proper ref for him and Noelle next update :>

More Starwalker! Yes I’m seriously making Starwalker and Nubert replace Ralsei and Lancer. Why? Well cause they were kinda the only pair available and I thought it’d make for a lot of comedy. Starwalker may be cuter but he’s just as direct and up-front as in DR, he’s not that great with emotions and in the story he’d kind of be like a strong and stable rock for Noelle to gravitate around, give the advice her older sister would’ve given.

Nubert on the other hand is very emotive, displaying his kind, gracious, and totally not full of himself attitude to everyone. After some time, Berdly realizes just how cool Nubert is and wants be as well-liked as he is.

In the light world, Starwalker is an ornamental christmas star made of paper mache, the last thing Noelle and Dess worked on while Nubert is a piece of stray play-dough.

I really want to give better descriptions for Starwalker and Nubert, and how their relationships would evolve with their respective darkners, but I’ll let that wait for their own proper posts. Anyway, I’ll see you next time for finalized designs of lighjt world Noelle and Berdly!

Hostile Minis: Starwalker and Nubert Dump

Hello there, apologies for any followers who were anticipating a post this week. Art block struck me but as of now I am lining the next piece, with proper finalized designs for Starwalker and Nubert! Have some of these doodles to tie you over

It’s rather hard making designs for these characters because of how simple they are, it’s much more crucial to get a design that immediately draws the eye. Something I’m still learning

HOSTILE TAKEOVER UPDATE 3: Noelle and Berdly

Coming in with what is likely the final of these daily updates before moving onto (hopefully) more weekly content updates, I’m happy to present Noelle and Berdly taking up the roles of Kris and Susie as they do in Deltarune!

Noelle - In this AU, Noelle is a downtrodden girl raised by a single mother and her family’s long-time babysitter: Papyrus, and his family. Though she was already familiar with loss due to her sister and father’s passing, she was in the process of recovering when her close friend Napstablook went on tour with their cousin. She awaits their return, playing their records every night and checking up on their social feed to help them sleep and stave off the troubling recurring nightmares of someone calling out to them in the middle of a snowstorm...

Berdly - As he is in Deltarune is an egotistical tryhard, except in this situation there was no spelling bee that brought him closer to Noelle, no reason to get closer and risk making the sheltered sensitive girl cry, and so they never became friends, meaning Berdly remained unnoticed and unappreciated. Berdly is a soul desperate for attention, doing any and every hair-brained scheme his gigantic brain comes up with. And though he more than excels as the number 2 in class, nothing seems to ever drive the attention of anyone his way, making him resentful, especially towards Noelle, who he sees as someone who’s never had to try and always gets to be number 1 and always has people caring about her.

Design Changes

Noelle wears a very different color scheme as in DR due to me following the idea of the fallen child having to resemble the protagonist in the original Undertale universe. In this case, Mettaton. going off of designs of colored MTT, I decided to give her a more pink and black sort of look. The dress is also from MTT himself, who gifted it to Noelle for spending so much time with Napstablook.

These are all big changes since the og post I made describing Noelle’s backstory in HT, cause I wanted to really link this au to a proper undertale universe and I thought Storyshift would be perfect. Now this has no express permission from the Storyshift person themselves and I am not affiliated with Storyshift and their au in any way, and it’s likely I’ll have to make my own UT AU just for this - which I would have no problem with, but I just thought it’d be most appropriate to making a unique AU that’s still cohesive.

As for Berdly, his design was based off of a suggestion from @randomguyed​ , and I owe actually both designs to them because with their help I reworked the designs I had for them originally (seen below). But yes, Berdly’s design is meant to be a blend of “trying too hard to be cool”, but with the same quirks that make Berdly himself. Not pictured but at the back is a rainbow patch sewn by his mother, because the Jacket itself was a request from his mother. As for what’s on his face, it’s a VR headset/google glass thing for gamers, idk if such a thing is real but Berdly would absolutely get one and look dumb in it. It’s the perfect way to keep his eyes hidden imo, to mirror Susie having her eyes hidden most the time in ch1. I also just making his glasses rather reflective, but I thought this’d be much funnier.

HOSTILE TAKEOVER UPDATE 1: Concept Art and the Interim

For a while I didn’t post anything related to the AU simply because of the holidays being a busy season, but I was drawing up a storm in the meantime regardless. For today I’ll be posting little doodles I had for characters early on in the timeline

Featuring an unmasked form of Berdly and some mockups of Berdly’s adjusted Dark World armor (outdated, will be posting his new look soon). Also playing with the concept of starwalker growing horns at the end of the adventure to signify... something. It’s still something that I’m working on and I’m not certain what to do with him yet.

Potential designs for Spamton as Queen, these are very early on and none of these are final, except the rocket-powered dumpster, that is guaranteed.

Moving onto some physical art, here is my current conceptualization for a Queen design, as well as an updated Spamton down there. She’s down on her luck ever since she got kicked out, maybe you’ll change that?

An updated and more finalized design for King, with more sensible chain placements and stuff. The finalized design for him will be a more polished version of this more or less.

The Next update post will involve more concept art, this time of Noelle, Berdly, and Starwalker in the Dark World!

HOSTILE TAKEOVER UPDATE 0: List of Swaps and Shifts

As of recent I’ve come to realize that Hostile Takeover is a project that I believe is deserving of its own blog. And so I made one. I am the official owner @mmani-e and I’ll be posting HT related stuff here from now on.

Now onto the updates.

All previous posts regarding the story of HOSTILE TAKEOVER are now (mostly) inaccurate.

I will begin setting the record straight beginning with this post.

Noelle <> Kris (Noelle is a depressed girl living with a broken family and not much friends. Kris is a troublemaker going through a family’s rough patch.)

Berdly <> Susie (Berdly is a boy trying desperately to fit in and be noticed, but fails every time. Susie is a poor teen that unhealthily attaches to her only friend.)

Monster Kid <> Catti (MK is a local troublemaker that knows a little something or two about getting into unnatural situations. Catti is the goth close acquaintance of Noelle, one of the few she’s managed to retain.)

Snowy <> Jockington (Snowy is an aspiring stand up comedian that tests out his material anywhere and everywhere he can... even the police station. Jockington is the same lol)

Starwalker <> Ralsei (Jevil pissed Starwalker off by calling him unoriginal, he is now out for revenge. Ralsei just hangs around lost without purpose, and gets rather clingy)

Nubert <> Lancer (Nubert is a blustering egotist, but one with the intention to protect the weak and stop people from rising up against Jevil. Lancer is on a secret mission from his father to find his mother and unite the royals, but mostly spends his time goofing off)

Seam <> Rouxls (Seam is the lazy and far-too comfortable court mage that sees no point in most things. Rouxls is a nervous royalist that is always looking over his shoulder.)

Jevil <> King (Jevil is the new tyrant of the Bizarre Bastion, and is completely insane, his only goal is to spread the dark world to keep the fun going forever. King is a cold husk of his former self, the man that once was there replaced by a being of pure rage, plotting in his cage ways to escape and kill him.)

Sweet, Cap’n, Cakes <> Swatch, Tasque Manager, Werewerewire  (SCC have been given express access to the kingdom they were once rebelling against, and now have happily chosen to be the advisors to Spamton, who sees the three as his own sons, calling them his 3-for-1-special. The original inhabitants of Pandora palace are not happy however, and have dubbed themselves “the fashion police” and are in a protracted war against Spamton’s drab taste.)

Spamton <> Queen (Spamton is now the Grand CEO of Retro Metropolis, he is completely unhinged and wants to turn the light world into the biggest shopping mall known to man. Queen on the other hand is an alcoholic mess that sits around a surprisingly clean throne all day, drowning her sorrows away, longing for the days when she had loyal peons.)

The Man <> The Knight (The mysterious benefactor in charge of opening all the fountains is known only as “The Man”, while in direct opposition is “The Knight” a being who seeks to bring the world back into its natural order.)
