Bechloe accidental first kiss
Beca, of course, had always thought about kissing Chloe. She’s beautiful, warm, and quite frankly the whole reason Beca is having such a great time at Barden. Beca’d come to the realization that she had a crush on her best friend ages ago, and every day that came after that was just another day that Beca had to stifle the urge to do just that.
She thought about how soft Chloe’s lips would be- she always saw her reapply her chapstick religiously- and dreamed about how cute it would feel like to stand up on her tip toes and wrap her arms around Chloe’s shoulders. She wanted to have Chloe hold her as more than a friend, in places more than just the couch in the Bella House.
Beca is not completely sure that Chloe likes her back- no matter what Stacie or Emily or anybody else says- so that’s why she hasn’t yet made her move. She’s not a complete wimp- she’d made out with Jesse in front of all those people in Lincoln Center after all- but she is not going to be rejected by her best friend, damn it. Beca doesn’t think that she can’t take it, the awkwardness nor the loss of friendship. Chloe is her favorite person, ever, in the world, and Beca doesn’t know what she would do with herself if she ruined that.
The only problem was, Chloe is touchy. She touched Beca everywhere, on the arm whenever she laughs, the hand whenever she wants to listen to some music that Beca had mixed, the waist whenever she wishes to get by. Normally Beca is used to it, but sometimes she still gets caught off guard and jumps whenever she is not paying attention.
Such as today.
"Okay, okay," Chloe says, trying to catch everybody's attention. "We have the decorations here, Jessica and Ashley are going to put on the music, and Beca is laying out the cookies. The Trebles are going to be here in about an hour girls, let's move it."
Why Beca had agreed to take care of the baking, she does not know. Certainly not because Chloe had tried her mom's chocolate chip cookie recipe last week and begged Beca to recreate it, that's just too pathetic.
Beca sighs, folding in the chocolate chips. She has one more step to go, and then she can shove them in the oven and never think about it again. Chloe can take them out. It was her idea anyway.
Finished with gently laying in the chocolate with the dough, Beca goes to look for the scooper. She opens the drawer where they usually keep it, but it's not there.
"Hey, Chlo! Where's the scooper? I need it for the cookies."
"Hm?" Chloe glances back over her shoulder from the living room, where she is taping a string of Christmas lights from the ceiling. "Oh I think I have it in my room. I used it last night for some ice cream."
Beca raises her eyebrows. "For some ice cream? Really? That's like... a pretty big spoon, don't you think?"
Chloe huffs, rolling her eyes. There is a smile on her lips and Beca is proud that she placed it there. Teasing is too much fun. "Well I have a pretty big appetite, especially for sweet stuff like ice cream. You know that."
"Uh huh." Beca is already washing her hands and making her way into Chloe's bedroom. "I should have put salt in these cookies then, so you wouldn't eat them all."
Chloe's room is a mess. Books on her bed, clothes on the floor, bra hanging over a desk chair. Beca tries not to stare at it as she turns around in a circle to locate the ice cream/cookie scooper. Knowing Chloe, it could be under her bed for all Beca knew. She was just about to bend down and pull the comforter over when something catches her eye.
A journal. On Chloe's pillow.
It was open to two pages, left side scribbled on, right side with a drawing. Ethically, Beca knows that she shouldn't, but curiosity gets the better of her when she sees something written in Chloe's loopy lettering that might be her name. Stepping over a novel from some Russian author, Beca picks the journal up.
She barely had time to register that the drawing was of her bent over her laptop when Chloe pinches her waist. "Hey I found it-"
Beca practically jumps out of her skin at the sudden contact. "Jesus Chr-"
Chloe's mouth brushes the corner of Beca's. They both freeze. Beca's hands slip on the journal balancing in her palm and it tumbles down to her feet but neither seems to notice. They're too busy trying to understand what just happened. Beca's face is turned towards Chloe's and her heart is making itself known in her ribcage with the speed at which its beating. Her brain sizzled and sparked like a backup generator kicking into gear in a blackout.
They're still standing two inches apart. Beca's eyes look into Chloe's and Chloe's look back, both surprise and a little bit of fear reflected in those bright blues. Chloe seems to hesitate, before pulling her hand away from Beca's body. When Beca didn't make an effort to move, or push her away, Chloe swallows, and opens her mouth.
"Look, Beca, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that."
Beca blinks. Dazedly. "What?" Holy crap, Chloe Beale just kissed her. "About what?"
Chloe gestures between them. "That." Her breath is warm and smells like candy, and god, her lips look so soft. "We shouldn't have kissed. I scared you, and you hadn't been paying attention, and I really do want to kiss you, like so so freaking bad, but like not like this, and I'm sorry that if this means that our friendshi-"
And this time, Beca kisses her. Because Chloe just confirmed that she likes Beca back, and Beca is not a wimp. She kisses her like she imagined she would, and her arms wrapped around Chloe's shoulders and her feet goes to stand on tip toes and Chloe's smile is indeed soft and sweet and tastes like candy and Beca is so glad that she agreed to bake her cookies tonight.
Chloe pushes Beca down onto her bed. Her teeth nips on Beca's bottom lip before trailing to her neck and Beca can feel herself shiver. "You really shouldn't have been going through my journal, either, y'know."
"Yeah well, I have a pretty big appetite, especially for mysterious stuff like journals. You know that."
Chloe laughs, right into Beca's skin. Her fingers brush on Beca's thighs and Beca starts, again, because she really doesn't think she can ever get over Chloe suddenly touching her in all the right places. "I do now."

Summary: Stars burn bright. For a time. Beca makes a deal when she’s 19 that changes the course of her life.
Hiya! New Bechloe fic. Inspired by Mike Flanagan's take on The Fall of the House of Usher - specifically the personification of Death.
This one kind of got away from me and ended up coming in at a whopping 24,494 words. I hope you enjoy. I meant to make some edits to reference some of the events in the fic, but I'm a little pressed for time with the holidays coming up.
Thank you @bobby-lynnes-bra & @becaeffinmitchell for the support.

sending a sleepy prompt because I don’t want it to end yet!! I’ve read each prompt you’ve posted right away so my day would feel incomplete without it🫶
21. “Give me a goodnight kiss?”
maybe it could be like Beca and Chloe in their own world, forgetting they’re with the Bellas and the girls finding out about their relationship when Beca kisses Chloe goodnight? (or vice versa)
(you can go an entirely different route if you want to though, I’m sure it’ll still be amazing)
The streak continues! Let's gooooo!
21. “Give me a goodnight kiss?”
Prompt taken from here
Read on AO3
-
It was the end of another long Bellas movie night, and if she’s honest, Beca was impressed she lasted this long.
She’d been dozing for the last hour, her head resting back on the sofa, her hand millimetres from Chloe’s, their pinkies just touching.
When the credits finally started rolling, Beca sat up and stretched.
“Okay,” Beca said. “I’m calling it a night.”
“You don’t have one more in you?” Chloe asked, a hint of teasing in her voice.
“I didn’t have that one in me,” Beca said. “I’m going to bed.”
“Fine,” Chloe said. “Goodnight.”
She turned her face towards Beca and, without thinking, Beca pressed a quick kiss to her lips. “Night,” she said.
The various conversations that had been happening around the room all fell silent as if someone had flipped a switch.
Beca frowned.
“What?” She asked.
“Don’t ‘what?’ us,” Stacie said. “What the hell was that?”
They were all staring at her and Chloe, and Beca felt her insides freeze.
Beca swallowed. “A goodnight kiss?” She said, her voice a whole octave higher. “You know, like friends do?”
Chloe let out a snort of laughter.
“Is this a new thing you’re trying out?” Cynthia Rose asked.
Beca shrugged. “Maybe.”
“Well I for one would like to opt out,” Amy said.
“I dunno,” Stacie said. “I think I could get on board.”
Beca swallowed again and glanced down at Chloe, who couldn’t seem to wipe the amusement off her face. “Cool,” she said. “Well, now we’ve all accepted that without any further questions, I’m going to bed.”
Beca tried to leave the room when Stacie cleared her throat.
“Aren’t you forgetting something?” Stacie asked. “Where’s my goodnight kiss?”
The rest of the Bellas started laughing, and Beca looked at Chloe who shrugged, a grin still on her face.
“Unless you want to just tell us the truth?”
Beca sighed, and Chloe gave her the smallest nod.
“Fine,” Beca said. “Chloe and I are-”
“-wait!” Amy said, interrupting, her phone in her hand. “Can you wait like twenty minutes before you tell us?”
“You can’t do that,” Stacie said. “She wants to tell us now, she should tell us now. Right now. Definitely not in 20 minutes.”
“I just don’t think we should rush her,” Amy said. “Right, Cynthia? Jessica? Ashley? Flo? Someone back me up?”
“I don’t care, I lost two days ago,” Cynthia Rose said.
“What are you guys talking about?” Beca asked.
“Nothing,” Stacie said quickly. “Just spit it out, Bec.”
“Keep it in, Beca,” Amy said. “Keep your secrets. Trust no one.”
Chloe’s shoulders sagged.
“You all know, don’t you?” Chloe asked.
“Know what?” Stacie said, one eye on the time.
Beca sighed. She held out her hand and Chloe took it. “Chloe and I are dating.”
“Yes!” Stacie said, her fist punching the air.
“Dammit!” Amy said at the same time.
“Not quite the reaction I thought we’d get,” Chloe said.
“I mean, I’m super happy for you guys, but come on! You couldn’t have waited until after midnight. Beca, can’t you keep it in your pants for five minutes?” Amy asked.
“Pay up aca-bitches!” Stacie said hand outstretched. The other Bellas grumbled and began putting $10 bills in her hand.
“You guys were betting on us?” Beca asked, unsure if she should be offended or not.
“Beca, sweetie, we’ve known for like a month,” Stacie said. “We’ve been placing bets on when you’d finally tell us.”
Beca threw her arms up in the air in exasperation. “So we’ve been sneaking around all this time for nothing?”
“I wouldn’t call it sneaking,” Flo said.
“Yeah, you guys are about as subtle as an earthquake,” Cynthia said.
“I thought there was an earthquake the other night,” Amy muttered.
“Okay,” Beca said, her cheeks flushing red. “That’s enough of that.”
“Look, we wouldn’t have done this if you’d just told us all at the beginning,” Stacie said. “Why didn’t you?”
Beca looked at Chloe, whose shoulders had sunk again. “I just… I was scared,” Beca said, her eyes fixed on the floor. “I didn’t want to tell you all, then screw it up, and then we’d have to tell you we broke up.” Chloe took her hand again, and Beca looked at her. “Chloe wanted to tell you all,” she said. “I was just scared.”
There was a silence in which Beca and Chloe just looked at each other.
“Well now I feel like an asshole,” Stacie said, breaking the silence, causing everyone to burst into laughter.
“We were going to tell you all,” Chloe said. “We just needed to make sure that what we had was going to last first.”
“And you think it is?” Cynthia asked. “Because otherwise this will get real awkward, real fast.”
Beca and Chloe smiled at each other. “We think it is,” Chloe said.
There was a chorus of ‘aw!’s and they were suddenly in the middle of a Bellas’ group hug.
“Okay, okay! That’s enough of that,” Beca said wriggling free. “Well, now that’s all out in the open, I’m going to bed.” She held out her hand again. “Chloe? Care to join me?”
Chloe grinned and took hold of Beca’s hand. “Night everyone!” She said as Beca pulled her towards the stairs.
“Not in our room!” Amy called after them.

The Ship of the Day: Bechloe
Tumblr media
Name: Beca x Chloe
Ship name: Bechloe
Original content: Pitch Perfect Franchise first released in 2012
Ship Info: Pitch Perfect is a franchise consisting of three movies in which follows and acapella group – the Barden Bellas – from Barden University compete in acapella championships whilst navigating friendships and relationships. This ship consists of Beca and Chloe, two members of this acapella group and was sparked in the first Pitch perfect movie when we see Chloe barge into Beca’s shower, making her sing Titanium with her which Chloe labels as her “lady jam”.
Chloe Beale is a kind-hearted redhead who is depicted somewhat as the embodiment of human sunshine. She is co-captain of the Barden Bellas – an all girls acapella group at Barden University. Our first glimpse of her is during the welcome fair for the university where she is trying to get people signed up to audition for the Bella’s. This is where she first meets Beca.
Beca Mitchell is a grumpy brunette with an ‘I hate the world’ persona. She has dark hair and clothes and has a passion for mixing music. When we first meet her she is wearing chunky headphones blocking everyone else out. We learn that she is only at the university due to a deal she made with her dad. Early on we find that she is a sarcastic and dismissive character who wants to keep to herself, which we find out when she dismisses Chloe’s initial attempt to get her to join the Barden Bellas.
Although their first meeting is at the welcome fair, the more important start to their relationship is when Chloe barges into Beca’s shower and sings ‘Titanium’ with her. Since then there were many moments in which there are underlying romantic tones. From Chloe invading Beca’s personal space – and Beca allowing it to happen when she is not so fast to accept contact from others – to Chloe purposefully failing her exams to stay at the university for longer. Whilst initially Beca had no intentions if staying at Barden University, after joining the Bella’s and becoming co-captain of the Bella’s later on she stays there and graduates with everyone else.
Tumblr media
Chloe spends most of the first movie defending Beca against some of the other Bellas and Beca somewhat welcomes human contact from Chloe. This develops so much over the course of the three movies even though they are not in a romantic relationship with each other and at points have had flirtations and relationships with other people. Even so it was still acceptable for Chloe to pin Beca to a wall by holding and pushing on Beca’s breasts. This intimate contact is prevalent throughout the franchise and gives reason for why Bechloe is a popular ship from this franchise even though their relationship was only teased and never became canon. Not to mention that even though in the third movie they have left University, Chloe and Beca chose to still live together.
Tumblr media
Type of ship: Queer bait
They start this relationship off with both of them in a shower together and progress with romantic undertones such as Chloe admitting to Beca that she wished she has ‘experimented’ more in college – whilst they are sleeping next to each other. This is furthered when Beca allows Chloe to grab her breasts when she would welcome even a hug from many others. Yet we’re still to believe that by the end of the franchise they are only friends.
Tumblr media
Chloe and Beca are depicted throughout the franchise using the common ship trope grumpy x sunshine. If these characters were not supposed to end as a canon relationship, then it prompts the question as to why they were depicted by the creators of this franchise as this common ship trope that fans are obviously going to interpret as a romantic relationship. Also, I will raise the point as to why Beca who is the traditional grumpy character has been made to have a soft spot for Chloe if they were not to be in a romantic relationship, even going as far as to having Beca use pet names for Chloe such as “sweetie”. This insinuates a closer than usual bond between these characters and could not simply be unintentional moments on the part of the creators.
Tumblr media
Additionally, during the promotion of this franchise these two characters were heavily featured together, even having a near kiss moment in a promotional video for one of the movies. This begs the questions as to why you would promote your characters this way if you didn’t intend for them to have a canon romantic relationship which has been heavily insinuated at and fans were led to believe would happen.
Whatever the reasons were fans felt like they were done a disservice after being led on and getting so emotionally invested in this ship when they did not end up together by the end of the franchise. At least Bechloe are together in their hearts.

I love that you're having so much fun writing right now. Is there a prompt that you've been hoping someone would request? I request that one
Thanks so much for sending this!
There a couple that I haven't gotten yet that I'd like to do, but I settled on this one.
22. “Darling, you’re shivering.  Come here, let me warm you up.”

“Chlo’, I think the party is winding down now, why don’t you get out of the pool?”
“W-what? N-no!” Chloe protested, treading water in the middle of the pool. “This is a p-pool party! W-why am I the o-only one in the p-pool?!”
“You’re literally shivering,” Beca said, her voice teetering between fondness and exasperation. She extended her hand so she could pull her girlfriend up and out of the pool. “Come on, let’s go home and get you warmed up.”
“Oh y-yeah?” Chloe asked, swimming towards the edge of the pool. “What did you have in m-mind?”
Beca rolled her eyes. “Mind out the gutter, Beale. I was thinking more hot chocolate and blankets.”
Chloe took Beca’s extended hand, and Beca helped pull her out of the pool.
“Jesus,” Beca said, pulling off her jacket and wrapping it around Chloe’s shoulders. “You’re freezing.”
“I’m f-fine,” Chloe said, teeth chattering as Beca put her arm around Chloe’s shoulders. “I’m n-not even c-cold.”
“Sure,” Beca said, leading her back to the Bellas’ house. “Whatever you say.”
Luckily it was a short walk, and within 10 minutes Beca was helping a tipsy Chloe up the stairs and into her bedroom.
“We need to get you out of these wet clothes,” Beca said, rummaging through Chloe’s drawers for a pair of pyjamas.
“Bet you’ve said that before,” Chloe said with a smirk, pulling off her soaking-wet dress.
“Funnily enough, this situation doesn’t happen as often as you might think,” Beca said she handed Chloe her pyjamas, who dropped them onto the bed and picked up a towel so she could dry off.
Chloe had been getting naked in front of Beca long before they’d started dating, so Beca was used to the sight by now. What she wasn’t used to, however, was the feeling of not needing to suddenly turn away and hide her eyes. She wasn’t used to being allowed to look.
“Like something you see?” Chloe asked, still smirking.
Beca shrugged and hoped Chloe couldn’t see the blush spread across her cheeks.
“Are you still cold?” Beca asked, trying not to get distracted.
Chloe raised an eyebrow. “You mean you can’t tell?”
There was no way to hide her blush this time.
“Alright, put a shirt on or something,” Beca said. “You’re killing me here.”
Chloe giggled and pulled on her pyjamas. “I think you promised me hot chocolate and blankets,” she said, giving Beca a quick kiss before she headed into the bathroom to remove what was left of her makeup.
Beca went back downstairs to the kitchen and made two mugs of hot chocolate. She also grabbed a sleeve of Oreos and a bottle of water and returned to Chloe’s room.
Chloe was already in bed when Beca got back, and she looked up from her phone when Beca entered the room.
She put the mugs and water on Chloe’s nightstand, and handed her the Oreos, knowing Chloe always had a sweet tooth when she’d been drinking.
Chloe opened the packet and began eating, watching as Beca also changed into pyjamas.
She’d started keeping a few pairs in Chloe’s room since they’d started dating. It wasn’t often that she slept in her own bed now.
“Enjoying the show?” Beca asked, pulling an old t-shirt over her head.
“If I had any ones, I’d tip you,” Chloe said. She moved over in bed so Beca could climb in, and they spent the next half an hour eating Oreos, drinking their hot chocolate, and listening to music.
“I really love you, you know?” Chloe said, letting her head rest on Beca’s shoulder.
Beca couldn’t have stopped the smile that spread across her face if she’d tried.
“I really love you too,” she said. She kissed Chloe’s forehead and frowned. “How are you still cold?”
Chloe shrugged. “Someone let me jump into a pool.”
“I think you’ll find you did that all by yourself,” Beca said. She took hold of Chloe’s hands. “Should I get a heating pad or something? I don’t want you to get si-”
Chloe cut her off by pressing a kiss to her lips.
“You’re cute,” Chloe said. “And you’re even cuter when you’re all worried and protective. I’m fine, Bec. But if you’re really that worried, I can think of one way we can warm me up.”
Beca narrowed her eyes. “How drunk are you?”
“I was a little tipsy when we left the party, and I feel pretty much sober now,” Chloe said.
Beca studied her eyes for a few seconds, flicking back and forth until she was satisfied. “You’re sure?”
“Beca,” Chloe said. “Kiss me.”
Beca grinned and switched off the lamp. “Yes ma’am.”

#4 or #9 for the sleepy prompts if it’s not too late please!!
Love the ones you’ve done so far btw🫶
Thanks for sending this! I went with number 4.
4. “You fell asleep right on my lap.  No no no, don’t feel bad.  I actually thought it was pretty cute.”
Prompt taken from here
Read on AO3
-
“Bec?”
“Hmm?”
“The movie is over.”
Beca blinked and brought up a hand to rub her eyes.
“Oh,” she said. She sat up from where she’d been lying on Chloe’s lap.
The rest of the Bellas were all already heading to their rooms, bidding each other goodnight as they went.
“You fell asleep on my lap like five minutes in,” Chloe said, a hint of amusement in her voice.
“Sorry,” Beca said, cringing. “I can’t imagine that was very comfortable for you.”
“You don’t need to apologise,” Chloe said. “It was actually pretty cute.”
Beca seemed to cringe harder, a blush creeping across her cheeks.
“You know if you were that tired, you could have skipped movie night,” Chloe said when Beca didn’t respond.
“Yeah but then I would have missed the first five minutes of… what did we even watch?”
Chloe laughed. Her smile dropped slightly when she saw that Beca was still rubbing at her eyes, trying to shift the grogginess that lingered.
They were the only ones left in the living room now.
“Is everything alright?” Chloe asked. “You don’t usually fall asleep before eleven, let alone 8:30.”
“Yeah, fine,” Beca said. “I was just up late talking to Jesse on the phone last night. The time difference is making it awkward to catch each other. And now I’ve got to finish a paper that I should have done last night.”
“Oh,” Chloe said, trying to ignore the familiar twinge she got in her stomach whenever Beca mentioned Jesse’s name. “Well, as this is all self-inflicted you don’t get any sympathy. Kidding,” she added when Beca only gave a weak smile in response that didn’t reach her eyes.
“I know,” Beca said. “Sorry, I’m just… I didn’t really sleep at all last night.”
“You were up talking that long?”
“No. Not really. We, uh, we kinda… broke up,” Beca said, trying not to look at Chloe. “It’s been coming for a while and last night, or this morning, it just… happened.”
“Oh, I’m really sorry Beca,” Chloe said, genuinely surprised.
Beca shook her head. “It’s fine,” she said. “We both knew it was coming. We both knew what it meant when he moved to L.A.. I’m just… I’m surprised at how much it upset me, that’s all.”
“You’ve been together for a long time,” Chloe said. “Of course it would upset you.”
Beca quickly wiped her eyes. “So yeah, anyway, after that phone call, I couldn’t really sleep, and then I had an early class. So I’m… I’m tired.”
“Why didn’t you tell us?”
“Because I didn’t want it to be a big deal,” Beca said. “I didn’t want… fuss.”
“Okay,” Chloe said. “No fuss. Are you okay though?”
“Yes,” Beca said, a little too quickly. Chloe raised her eyebrows. “I will be. I just… I don’t like goodbyes. I don’t like endings, or change. And I…” She trailed off and shook her head. “It doesn’t matter.”
“No, go on,” Chloe said.
Beca shook her head again. “I have a paper I need to finish.”
“Beca,” Chloe said, taking hold of her wrist to stop her from walking away. “Talk to me.”
Beca opened her mouth to respond before she was cut off by the sound of one of the Bellas opening their bedroom door and crossing the hall to the bathroom.
“My room?” Chloe asked, knowing Beca was more likely to talk if there was less chance that they’d be overheard or interrupted.
Beca sighed and checked the time on her phone.
“I really need to finish that paper,” she said, avoiding looking at Chloe. “Sorry.”
“You don’t need to apologise,” Chloe said, trying to hide her disappointment. “Don’t stay up too late, okay? We have rehearsals tomorrow.”
“Yes captain,” Beca said, giving her a weak smile. “Night, Chlo’. Sorry for napping on you.”
“Goodnight,” she said. “And you can nap on me anytime, you should know that by now.”
They went to their bedrooms, and Chloe began pulling on her pyjamas, trying to shift the knot of sadness in her stomach.
It wasn’t that she was particularly upset that Beca and Jesse had broken up - she’d always privately thought that Beca could do better - but it was more that Beca hadn’t told her.
There was once a point in their relationship where they told each other everything.
Now Beca couldn’t even tell her that she’d broken up with her boyfriend of almost three years.
It made Chloe sad to think they were drifting apart.
Beca was her best friend, and she felt like she was losing a little bit of her every day.
Chloe shook her head slightly and tried to tell herself that it was fine.
They’d be graduating soon anyway, so it made sense that they were all slowly moving apart.
Chloe was just getting settled in bed when there was a tentative knock at the door.
“Come in,” she said.
The door was pushed open, and Beca walked in. She closed the door behind her and leaned against it.
“Is the offer still there to talk?” Beca asked.
“Of course,” Chloe said.
Beca wiped her eyes and crossed the room, taking a seat on the edge of Chloe’s bed.
Chloe put down her book and waited for Beca to speak.
“Jesse was safe,” Beca said eventually. “He’s the first person who ever… wanted me. I never had that before. I was always the weirdo with the dark makeup and the bad attitude, you know? Boys, girls, they never paid me any attention before. But Jesse did. He… pursued me. I’d never been pursued before. And I thought… I thought there was no way he’d hurt me. Even when things get tough, he’ll fight for me. I thought I was safe with him. But when it actually came down to it, he didn’t fight at all. When things got tough, he ran off to L.A. and stopped answering my calls. And when we finally broke up, he sounded relieved.” Beca wiped her eyes again and cleared her throat. “God, I’m fucking crying over a boy, who am I?”
“Hey,” Chloe said, softly, her hand lightly rubbing up and down her back. “Give yourself a break. You’re allowed to cry about things like this.”
Beca shook her head and wiped her eyes on her sleeve again. “If I can’t keep a relationship with Jesse - someone who was so into me and so determined that we were meant to be together that he thought that we were inevitable - what chance do I have with anyone?”
“Bec, Jesse isn’t the only person who’s going to love you,” Chloe said, her heart breaking at the thought of Beca believing that. “And I bet that he wasn’t even the first person who wanted to date you. You can be kinda oblivious about this kind of thing.”
Beca laughed but also gave a shake of her head that let Chloe know she didn’t believe her.
“If I can make Jesse fall out of love with me, I’ve got no hope.”
Chloe had to bite her tongue before she spoke again, and she forced herself to take a slow, quiet, breath.
“Are we at the stage where we can shit-talk your ex?” Chloe asked.
“Go for it,” Beca said.
“Jesse… He’s a romantic, right? He loves the idea of love. He likes to woo, and chase, and date. He’s a movie guy, he lives for the cliches. But relationships can’t survive like that. You’re a real person, with thoughts and feelings. You’re not just there to fit the mould of ‘Jesse’s girlfriend’. I’m… I’m not surprised that he didn’t fight when things got tough. As far as he was concerned, I bet he thought the hard part was over once you guys started dating,” Chloe said. “The movie ends when the guy gets the girl, how was he supposed to know what to do next?”
“Jeez,” Beca said, after a few minutes of silence. “One psych class and suddenly you’re an expert on shitty boyfriends.” She rolled her eyes to let Chloe know she was kidding. “How long have you felt like that about him?”
Chloe shrugged. “I’ve always kinda thought you could do better.”
“Why didn’t you say anything?”
“Because you were happy, and it wasn’t my place. I don’t think he’s a bad person or anything, and I’m sure he was a good boyfriend for the most part. And if there was a situation where I thought you were actively bad for each other, I’d have said something. I just thought you could do better is all. And I don’t want you to sit here and doubt yourself and your future because of him.”
Beca nodded and sniffed. “Thank you, Chloe. Thank you for saying all of that.”
“I said it because it’s true. I hope you know that,” Chloe said. “There is nothing unlovable, undatable, or unattractive about you. And more people know that about you than you think. You just need to open your eyes to them.”
Beca swallowed. “Yeah?” She asked, the uncertainty and vulnerability in her voice killing Chloe.
“I promise,” Chloe said.
There was more she wanted to say, but it was late, and she didn’t think Beca was in the right state to hear it, so she kept it to herself. Promising herself that she would say it later when things were less emotional.
“Did you get your paper done?” Chloe asked.
Beca let out a snort of laughter. “Like that was ever going to happen.” She checked the time on her phone. “I can do it tomorrow. I don’t have any classes until 2 so I can go to the library all morning.”
“You must be pretty tired,” Chloe said.
“Exhausted,” Beca replied with a laugh. “I can’t handle all-nighters like I used to.” She looked at Chloe’s bedroom door and wondered if she had the energy to even leave the room, let alone climb the stairs to her bedroom. It felt like it would take the kind of strength that Beca didn’t have right now.
“You can stay if you want,” Chloe said, reading her mind. “If you don’t want to be alone.”
“You don’t mind?” Beca asked.
“Of course I don’t.”
Beca smiled. “Thank you, Chlo’. For everything.”
“Anytime,” Chloe said.
They settled back into bed, and it didn’t take long for Beca to drop off.
Chloe smiled, relieved that they weren’t drifting as far apart as she’d feared.

Note
I would love it if you could do something for prompt # 18 or 21. Perhaps before they were officially together. Love all the ones you've done so far. They are simply divine!
This is another super short one, but since this is the 8th prompt I've posted in 9 days, I think that's allowed 😅
Thank you for sending this in! I'll try to keep writing these as long as people keep wanting them.
I went with 18 because I liked that prompt a little better.
18. “Did you know you talk in your sleep?”
Prompt taken from here

“Did you know you talk in your sleep?”
“Jesus!” Beca jumped up from where she’d just been napping on the sofa, her heart in her throat. “How long have you been sitting there?”
“Long enough,” Chloe said. “How come you’re napping here?”
“Amy kicked me out of our room,” she said, rubbing at her eyes as her heart rate returned to normal. “Said Bumper was coming over.” She shuddered at the thought. “I didn’t actually intend to nap, though.”
“The best kind of nap,” Chloe said.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” Beca asked. Chloe was giving her a look she’d never seen before. Or at least had never seen directed at her before. “Do I have, like, lines on my face or something from the sofa cushion?”
Chloe shook her head. “You talk in your sleep.”
Beca frowned. “No I don’t.”
“You do,” Chloe said, her smile beginning to turn into a smirk.
“You’re messing with me,” Beca said. “No one’s ever said I talk in my sleep before.”
“Amy complains about it constantly,” Stacie said, as she walked through the living room, heading for the stairs.
“What? No she doesn’t! She’s never said that to me once!”
“She’s trying not to embarrass you,” Stacie called back.
“Well that’s a first,” Beca mumbled, turning back to Chloe. “I still don’t believe you.”
Chloe shrugged, her smirk growing a fraction. “Did you have a good dream?”
The blush spread across Beca’s face so quickly that Chloe almost started to feel bad for teasing her.
Almost.
“I don’t think I had one,” Beca said, fighting to keep her voice casual.
“No?” Chloe asked, enjoying watching Beca squirm more than she felt like she should. “Are you sure it didn’t have someone we know in it?”
Beca scrunched up her face and groaned.
“Fuck,” she muttered. “What did I say?”
“I thought you didn’t talk in your sleep?”
“Shut up, just put me out of my misery,” Beca said.
“You just said someone’s name,” Chloe said. “Someone sitting on this sofa.”
“That’s all? I just said your name?”
“That’s all,” Chloe said. “Why? What were you afraid you’d said?”
“You’re enjoying this far too much,” Beca said.
“I’m sorry,” Chloe said, laughing. “It’s just so easy. And you were so cute all curled up and mumbling.”
“God, I’m going to die from embarrassment, please stop talking,” Beca said.
“I’ll stop,” Chloe said. “But first you have to tell me what your dream was about. It had me in it, after all.”
“I am never napping on the sofa again. In fact, I’m never sleeping again,” Beca said.
“Come on,” Chloe said, pouting. “Just tell me what it was about, and I’ll stop talking about it.”
Beca sighed. “Promise?”
“Promise,” Chloe replied.
“You aren’t allowed to make fun of me,” Beca said.
“I won’t make fun of you.”
“Fine,” Beca said. “I had a dream we were walking along some cliffs, and you kept getting too close to the edge. I thought you were going to fall off so I was saying your name to get you to come back.”
“Oh my god,” Chloe said, her voice little more than a squeal. “Beca, I thought you were having a sex dream about me, but this is so much cuter! You’re adorable!”
“Shut up,” Beca said, trying to get away from Chloe who was attempting to pull her into a hug. “You promised!”
“I promised I’d stop talking,” Chloe said. “I never promised I wouldn’t hug you.”
“Jesus,” Beca said, finally relenting and letting Chloe hug her. “I’d hate to see your reaction if it had been a sex dream.”
Chloe pulled back from her slightly and looked Beca in the eyes.
“No you wouldn’t,” she said. The light teasing gone from her voice to be replaced by… something else entirely.
Beca swallowed, her mouth suddenly very dry. “N-no,” she said. “I guess I wouldn’t.”
