Hello and thank you! For this one I will choose our ghostly protagonist, Elliott

5- How far is your OC willing to get what they want?

To be fair, Elliott isn't a very motivated person. He doesn't have very many aspirations and would probably give them up way too easily if anything significant got in the way.

That being said, he does have this specific drive to learn the truth. This is a mystery after all. He needs to do some sleuthing.

12- Is your OC self-destructive? In what ways?

Characters coping with self-destructive behaviours are something that appears frequently in my writing, and Elliott is probably the clearest example of this. His inability to do anything positive for himself is his "fatal flaw", and one he seems to have no desire to overcome (until he is pushed towards it by the other characters). He has absolutely zero self worth, and as a result he has a bad habit of putting himself into negative situations because he feels he deserves them. This includes isolating himself, spending time with the antagonist. And when he possesses a physical vessel, he ends up falling into a lot of substance abuse and self harm also. And often I feel bad for putting him all through this, but that's what writers have to do...

At seventeen, all Gabriel wanted was to escape – from his controlling father, his traumatic past, the general stagnation of his life – but everything changed when he reluctantly befriended the alluring Jeff. Now 22 and admitted to a psychiatric hospital, navigating the troubled waters of his twisted relationship with Jeff and the aftermath of the senseless crime that led to their estrangement, all he wants is the impossible – to go back to the way things were.

But things never were as he’s tried to make himself believe. Over the next several years, Gabriel finds himself trapped in a vicious cycle, perpetually wavering between working to free himself from the clutches of his past and allowing his growing obsession with Jeff and their unfinished business to consume him. Just as he begins to come to terms with his reality, an unexpected event brings the past back to haunt him – literally. With his growth and recovery put to the ultimate test, Gabriel is finally forced to choose between letting go of Jeff once and for all, or risking it all to save him – including his own life.

1.I just got back from a fieldwork trip to South Africa and I love the country and its wildlife so much. I had an encounter with some wild hyena cubs and now they're my new favourite animal

2. I've been meaning to get into her music for ages now, so I downloaded and listened to Ceremonials by Florence and The Machine. The lyrics and sound are fantastic, and All This And Heaven Too is a song that really speaks to me

3. My friend gave me all the chocolates she didn't like out of a selection box yesterday. Yay.

4. My parents came to visit not long ago, and we went to a castle close to me that I've never been to before. I do love a castle!

5. I started using iNaturalist the other day (I wont share my account here for privacy reasons) and its so much fun! If you're interested in your local wildlife, enjoy photography, or looking for a new game to try, I would definitely recommend it. I've already logged 8 wildflowers, 3 fungi species, and a beetle :)

Leaves (WIP: Golden Dandelions)

She sat beneath a motherly sort of oak, whose branches stretched far above her in a protective canopy. Cradled in her hands she kept the small book that Finch had gifted to her, the words in an odd dialect – one she presumed to be before her time, but enjoyed nonetheless. On occasion, Finch would shake a branch above her in a bid for attention, forcing leaves to flutter down over her with the same enthusiasm as confetti. On one unfortunate endeavour, however, it was a disgruntled squirrel that found itself chirping on the ground angrily up at the giggling fairy. Fleur thought she should find it annoying, and if it were anyone else, she might have.

Letter (WIP: The Poison Complex)

April had trawled slowly through the scrawled letter. An invitation to an audience with the Council for Poison Eradication (and Healthier Living). He’d dealt with them briefly - in flings, as he did with most. But much like many people he had encountered, they were not a group that worked easily with him. It didn’t leave much of a question, really, this was less of a summons and more of a beg - to ask him for help was a final resort.

That morning, there was a hammering on the door that came within five minutes of waking up. Through bleary eyes, I made out Kieran, stood there cradling a plant in its tiny pot like a mother holding a child. I didn’t think that then, but now I do. He held it with such care, such pride, holding it out to me with this big, beaming smile.

But all he saw when he stared in the still reflection was a man who had never been so wholly broken. Not missing a piece, but struggling nonetheless to fit all of him back together.
