Tumgik
Hey guys, so fun time:
I got some pretty bad news about my health recently. I'm having to leave school, go back to my home state, and get some things checked out.
So, with that being said, this blog is on hiatus until I feel better. You guys aren't obligated to stick around, and I'm sorry for being so flaky recently.
I'll try and write fics, since those are the only things that make me happy and make me feel better, but besides that, I'll be pretty much staying off a lot of social media.
Take care of yourselves, and I hope to see you again soon.
I won't be responding to things on Tumblr, but I'll say in advance thank you for being so good to me, and being such good friends. ❤

Thinking about how when Five pulls Dolores out of that duffle bag he pushes aside a bunch of empty glass bottles, which suggests he did drink at some point offscreen, possibly before he went to find her.
Thinking about, "fear isn't the issue. The affects it would have on your body, even on your mind— are far too unpredictable".
Thinking about Five hearing that replay in his head for years, only to meet Vanya and have her say it out loud.
Thinking about how Dolores is in many ways Five's subconscious, and maybe what she asked wasn't "are you drunk" but "are you in your right mind?", And those are very different questions.
Thinking about Five having vivid flashbacks of the wasteland, the apocalypse, the commission, his father. Thinking about how almost all of these actually ended up happening.
Think about Allison twisting her finger near her head. I don't know if you've noticed, but Five's a little...

Please note that I am doing this for my own catharsis as well as for the wellbeing of people following me. This is by no means meant to attack, but more, to inform. I don't want to be involved with the drama, so I will be keeping names out of this. Besides, I'm sure many of you already know who and what I am talking about...
Despite the content I post, I do not condone adults sexualizing, becoming infatuated, falling in love with, or anything romantic or sexual surrounding Aidan or his character, Five. There is a huge debate of fiction versus reality, and what is seen as morally wrong or not. Here is my two cents:
Reader inserts are, honestly, not my cup of tea. I don't like reading about myself, for one, but also because I think they blur the line between "this is pure fiction" and "this is reality". You're reading about yourself, a real person, interacting with a fictional character portrayed by a very real actor.
That makes me uncomfortable. But that's just my opinion. Whatever, you do you.
Where I get scared, and upset, is when I find out that these reader inserts are surrounding a minor. Sure, some make the argument that the character is "aged up", but the inspiration comes from a minor. A minor's acting, a minor's face, a minor's job.
That, on top of what this person, or these people, have confessed to, where they are in love with the character... that is what made me put my foot down. Because that character is portrayed by a minor. There are no excuses of "aged up" because they are talking about the face of a minor. One can say that the character is fifty-eight, and sure, one can love the personality of the character, but the matter of the fact is that the actor is still a minor.
I cannot ignore this. I can't. And if I get heat for it, then that's what will happen. I can't stop that. All I can do is express my own beliefs.
I do not condone what has happened. The jokes about the character scare me, the unhealthy love for the character makes me anxious. I do not condone what has occurred by any of the individuals involved.
If an adult said they were in love with Eleven from Stranger Things, all heads would turn. Rightfully so. Because that is a minor portrayed by a minor. The character Five may be of age mentally, but the body of the character is that of a minor, and the actor is a minor. This is reality, here. It's a TV show.
I think the people involved in this need to seek out a therapist, or professional help if they are in love with a character portrayed by a minor.
Please unfollow me if you disagree with anything I have said, because I truly do not want to be involved with those that are in love with a character portrayed by a minor. I'm sorry for the upsetting details, and I hope everyone stays safe, those included in this. I don't think you are bad people, but I do think you need to talk to someone professionally about this kind of mentality...
Also, please do not attack the people involved in this. I don't think that will help. It will only fuel the fire.
This post is to express what is, and is not okay on this blog.

yknow what would be even more funny than having a reasonable explanation if Vanya decided to transition in s3? Just. Not mentioning it at all. TUA s3 opens with him having short hair or whatever, all the siblings are addressing him with he/they. The Sparrow Academy has no idea what’s going on, but won’t say anything bc they aren’t rude
A concept:
The opening sequence is seamless against season two's ending shot: the Umbrella Academy has been confronted by the Sparrow Academy, and Ben stares them down.
Except Vanya looks completely different.
And Ben just does a double take, because literally like a second ago when he asked, "who are these assholes" Vanya was very AFAB cis woman. But now Vanya is masc as fuck and Ben is like 👀. And he ain't no transphobic rude bitch so he just...carries on insulting his not-siblings and--
God what a concept.

His siblings: Whoops.
Five: Whoops? Whoops? This is not a “Whoops” situation. We are far past whoops. Whoops is a distant speck in the rearview mirror. We are solidly in “Oh fuck territory, and I except you to act like it.

y'know... there is a way we could get ftm trans Vanya in tua s3. Hotel Oblivion - like some theories are saying that Five'll get stuck in there to explain him growing several inches in two weeks, so what if they do the same thing to Vanya to explain the transition? assuming they're using the Hotel anyways ((i'm trans too for the record, i've always held the tua trans h/cs close to my heart so the fact that we might actually have a canon trans character is really exciting))
👀👀👀👀
Oh see now that would be fun. OKAY BUT IMAGINE they all get yeeted to HO and then everyone pops out not having fun at all and Vanya just staggers out like, "Boy now. Girl gone. No girls here. Boy. A lad is I."
HA.
That would be neato as fuck and kinda great. I'm curious too, though, to see if they will be using HO or not. I know I am later in my season, around episode five or six. But I want to see if the pros do, too. 👏👀

I’ve seen several articles saying Netflix has confirmed elliot will still be playing Vanya as a cis woman. Though who knows if it’s true or not. Honestly as long a elliot got to choose i’m down for anything.
Precisely for your last sentence. I jumped the gun earlier saying I would use "he/him" pronouns for Vanya from here on out, but that's presupposing something onto Elliot and onto the character.
So, I remedy that by saying: I'll use she/her pronouns until told otherwise.
It's such a squishy, sensitive topic. I, personally, feel weird referring to Vanya as she/her. And I likely always will. I can't not see Elliot and his characters as transmasc/masc, now. That's just how my brain works.
But it isn't about me. And it's not about the fans, and what they want.
Sure, the representation would be a fat game-changer, and sure, there are pros and cons to all sides of tackling Vanya's gender identity. But at the end of the day, it is Elliot's decision, and so, we should support whatever he chooses.

just wanted to say i really love the way you answer asks, you always sound so put together and professional. and respectful! like when that anon asked about he/they pronouns? some people would've responded with "google it" or something along those lines (and i totally understand why) but all the same it's nice to see some who's kind about it ~ shy mutual
WELL MY LOVELY SHY MUTUAL, I gotchu. I ain't here to shut people down. If they have genuine questions, I'll try my best to answer as clearly as possible, you know?
Because there is a huge difference between misinformation and not understanding, and being an asshole. I'm not a fan of shoving people away if they are genuine and truly want to have answers to things. I ain't here to make anyone feel bad.

I wonder if Vanya will be nonbinary in season 3 and will use either they/them or she/they pronouns, I think that would honestly make a lot of sense for her character! (I say she as in Vanya, not Elliot, just to clarify)
That is the question. 👀
At the end of the day, whatever Elliot is most comfortable with will happen. Whether they make Vanya trans, give the character they/them or she/them pronouns like you said, or they just leave the character as is.
It's all up to Elliot. But I'm interested to see how they handle this, because having trans representation in media where being trans isn't the character's main/only identity would be amazing. But I also understand if he isn't ready for that yet, or doesn't want to change the character like that, etc.

Would be interested to know your thoughts on this: So on one hand it would be brilliant to have trans Vanya on tua but on the other (and I am cis so 100% correct me if I’m wrong) but would it not also be a big step to have an out trans person playing a cis gendered person? Isn’t that one of the biggest arguments bigots use like blah blah they can’t play this person etc so if they did chose to carry on as it has been would that not just be them saying don’t be a dick acting is acting?
So, yes, you have a point, but, it’s a little...reversed.
There are two acceptable things that they can do in situations with trans actors. They can either have the actor - Elliot, in this case - play a trans character that matches their identity, or they can have the actor playing a cis character who matches their identity.
The key thing here is matching their identity.
Vanya, in the show, is AFAB. Either that, or MTF, or something similar, if we aren’t assuming cis character.
However, Elliot is transmasculine. Therefore, it would be disrespectful to have him play a woman, or Vanya as the character is now, a character that currently doesn’t have the same gender identity. If Vanya started out a cis man, then Elliot playing him would be amazing, because it would be a trans actor playing a cis man.
But, that’s not the case. So the best thing we can hope for is for Elliot to play a transmasculine character, or transitioning Vanya in the show to match his identity.
So yeah, it’s about matching identity to the character. Having the trans actor play a character who is not in-line with their gender identity is disrespectful, rude, and erasure, in my opinion. That’s like telling Laverne Cox to play a cis male character. You just don’t do that.
But yes, if Vanya was a cis man to begin with, it would be great news to have Elliot play him. But alas, he is not, so the next best thing for trans people and trans representation is to have Vanya come out as trans.
However, this is all contingent on the fact that Elliot wants Vanya to be trans, or is comfortable with Vanya being trans. If Elliot doesn’t want to play that route, and wants to keep Vanya as the character is, AFAB and identifying as such, then that’s fine. At the end of the day, it is all up to what he wants.
This has never happened before in history, I’m pretty sure. Nobody has transitioned in the middle of a TV show like this. So everything’s up in the air. It all depends on Elliot and Steve, and how those two want to do things.
Thanks for the ask! And I hope I was able to clear some things up!

Five, speaking for experience: im what the victorians would call a “vile, ill-tempered and thoroughly wretched little creature”

I love this. I love you.
Okay but- don't imagine Five being touch starved to the point of scratching his skin off because of how overwhelming it feels. Don't imagine Five starting to "romanticize" every form of physical contact in his mind to the point of missing even the most negative kind. Don't imagine Five holding Delores so tightly against himself in an effort to feel a connection, but nothing happens and he accidentally breaks her arm off instead due to how tightly he was hugging her. Don't imagine Five wrapping himself in a blanket and crying because it almost feels like being held. Don't imagine Five trying to trick his brain into thinking that the jacket he's hugging is actually his siblings.
Now, definitely don't imagine Five getting back to his siblings and not recieving a single hug

I’m not trans or non-binary and I want to know when to use either he or they for Elliot? Do we use one more than the other? Or does he not care as long as it’s either he or they?
So, it varies from person to person, of course. But normally, he/they pronouns are used to say that you can either use he/him/his pronouns or they/them/theirs pronouns. They are interchangeable for the person, hence why they list both. So you can use whichever. But again, this depends on the person.
Thanks for asking and making sure!
And I know it's hard to check what he wants, or if he prefers one over the other, because he is a celebrity and it's, like, impossible to get in contact with him lmao. So just use either of them, whichever is easiest for you.
