This is specifically about my fic, Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind where Tim is Bruce and Diana’s kid who is cursed right after birth to be forgotten the more he is loved :) things happen & it’s very sad

Headcanon for the Batbros:

Tim: Jason I’m not destroying that building with you, even if you’re using “minor explosives”.

Jason: That building’s going to be demolished soon, anyway, wouldn’t you like to do the honours?

One destroyed building later:

Tim: You’re right, this is nice.

Jason, concerned: Tim, i don’t like that tone-

Tim: What other buildings need to be destroyed?

Jason: What have I started…

“Bruce Wayne is actually a really good father and all his children are just like that” is actually my favorite flavor of batfam

I think Bruce Wayne is a loving parent, but not a good one. He is a psychologically tormented person who never got over his trauma or developed any healthy coping mechanisms but he just keeps ending up with them and doesn’t really know what to do with them.

Like Dick’s parents die right in front of him and Bruce is just “hey kid, my parents died in front of me to. And you know what helped me? Punching bad guys.”

And Jason? He finds this kid stealing his tires and he’s not afraid of Batman. He doesn’t seem afraid of anything. He’s got a big heart and cares a lot about people, but no one cares about him. So he goes “hey kid, you seem lost. You know what helps me when I’m feeling lost? Punching bad guys.”

With tim it’s a little more complicated. Bc this kid showed up at his front door and put him in a corner (tim saved him) and Bruce went, “hey kid, you seem pretty good at this. I do encourage you to find a different extracurricular activity… but yes, you can punch bad guys with me.”

And with Damian it’s even more complicated but in simplest terms Bruce and Dick look at Damian and go, “hey kid, you seem like you have some issues and a weird moral compass. Do you know what makes me feel better? Punching bad guys.”

Like shit bruce I’m no expert but maybe some talk therapy or grief counselling might help. you cant just "punch your bad guys to cope with your feelings" your way out of this one

“Favorite hero - go!”

Tim didn’t even look up as he continued to type up his report for the night, “Dick Grayson.”

Jason scoffed, “Way to use your listening ears Timbers, Duke asked who’s your favorite hero, not your favorite brother.”

“I heard and I answered. Dick Grayson. If he’s Robin? Robin is my favorite hero. Now he’s Nightwing? Nightwing is absolutely the coolest hero to ever exist. He’s acting as Batman? Obviously Batman’s the best.”

Dick grinned brightly at Jason, smug in a way only older siblings can be.

“My. Favorite. Hero. Is. Dick. Grayson. From the day I first meet him, to the day I discovered his hero identity, to becoming a part of his legacy, to the first time he called me his brother, to today and till the day we’re both dirt and worms, my big brother will always be my favorite hero. You use your listening ears.”

Several of the others made faces or rolled their eyes at dirt and worms part of his rant but Dick only laughed quietly and hugged Tim so tightly that Tim felt the air being slowly but steadily pushed out of his lungs. Tim made no complaints but did roll his eyes, though no one but Cass could tell if it was at Jason or Dick.

“I can not find fault in your decision,” Damian weighed in, “And obviously, Father is your second favorite, thus your third favorite must also be of equal valor?”

Tim huffed and wiggled his way out of Dick’s loving embrace, “Who said B was my second favorite?”

Everyone blinked at him and he grinned, the exact same expression on his face as had been on Dick’s a few minutes prior, submitted his report, grabbed his Zesti off the ground beside him, and took advantage of Bruce and Alfred entering the cave to escape any more questions.

“Good night!” Dick called after him.

“Night!” Tim waved behind him.

“Well, I think I’m a strong contender for second favorite,” Tim heard Stephanie say and someone’s muffled response before the grandfather clock closed behind him.

As asked by @cynicallyoptomisticdaydreamer - another 5 songs playlist breakdown!

In line with the last 2, today I'm doing my Tim Drake playlist, which you can listen to here. Again, the rest of my playlists are all public on my spotify account.

Our first song is Out of Touch by Addison Grace! I think this one just oozes Tim Drake vibes. The lines about isolating yourself so as not to draw attention to yoruself but simultaneously worrying what your worth is to others if you can't provide for them just hits me in the feels.

Next wong is Mid 20s Skateboarder by Pkew Pkew Pkew. I like the vibe this song has and the unpolished roughness of the vocals. The feeling of grasping onto something that doesn't belong to you anymore- drowning your feelings and praying you don't ruin yourself in the process. Yeah.

This one followed by Ain't No Rest For The Wicked by Cage the Elephant. I think it is reflective of all the Batfamily, but Tim especially, who comes from a place of not quite understanding why people do what they do, because he was born into a background that's so far removed from the streets of Gotham. The song's a goodun and I reccommend it!

Next up we have Imposter Syndrome by Sydney Gish, which solely by the title is definitely a Tim Drake song. My boy has struggled with identity his whole life and it's shown in the comics- the constant switching from hero name to hero name and back, his struggles with sexuality, and his feelings about being Robin and part of the batfamily speak volumes. I especially like the lines in this song that goes "Nobody even knows my name and/No one suspects that I'm not fine, and/Nobody outs behavioural Frankenstein" like that is HUGELY autism-coded and man...man.

Finally, we have Family Line by Conan Gray. I'm not gonna lie- I think this song is in most of my batkids playlists, and I definitely feel it applies more to Jason and Damian than Tim, but I still out it there for a reason. I think it really shows the dysfunctionality and breakdown of communication we have been getting in modern DC comics in the batfamily. For Tim's case, I especially feel the lines "All of my pain and all your excuses/I was a kid but I wasn't clueless/(Someone who loves you wouldn't do this)" hit home hard not just in terms of the absence of Jack and Janet in his life, but also of Bruce's apathy and how reluctant he was warm up to Tim. He was harsher on Tim during his term as Robin than he was to most others except maybe Steph, and it took him a long time to view Tim as a son, and even then Bruce fell short as he does so often on that front.

I think it would be very funny if the Batfam and Tim had two drastically different reactions to the Teen Titans Incident.

Like Bruce is super concerned about Tim's safety, and Dick is tearing himself apart because on one hand, the perpetrator is his little brother and Dick remembers him as tiny little Jason who loves classic stories and on the other hand, his new little brother has just been brutalized and possibly traumatized. Jason pretends that he is okay with having beaten up a child, but he is drowning in guilt and can barely look Tim in the eye.

Meanwhile, Tim just... does not care. It was literally another Wednesday for him. He is so delusional, he looks at the Red Hood and thinks "Yeah, I can take him." There is no fear in those eyes, just revenge.
