Alright, so we all know that Gembond is at once a gene and a disease.
I’ve always had it in my head that the reason this is relatively acceptable is that gembond comes in many strains, from devastating to relatively harmless.
The one I mentioned in my last mini lorepost for Annalise, Bubonic Gembond, was simply an idea for one of the worst versions.
This form of Gembond tends to cluster around lymph nodes, erupting into large and painful buboes after an incubation period within the lymphatic system.
This strain has come to have many nicknames: glitterweep, brittlewarts, and glasspus being some notable ones. What the nicknames allude to is the nature of the “gems” themselves.
Aside from the titular buboes, Bubonic Gembond is most notable for the brittleness of the “gems”. Any movement or tug of the dragon’s skin can make one shatter, leaking out pus and causing extreme pain for the poor afflicted being.
Unfortunately, this also makes this strain especially easy to pass on to others, as if any dragons attempting to soothe or treat the afflicted manage to get it in their eyes, mouth, nostrils, etc, they are highly likely to contract the illness as well.
Bubonic Gembond was, for a very long time, notable for its high mortality rate. Clans who had a member that contracted the disease were exiled en masse to prevent an epidemic from breaking out, with every other member assumed to be infected as well.
A vaccine has recently been released that prevents the worst of the disease from taking hold in most patients, and thus drastically increased survival rate.
Dragons who have recovered from Bubonic Gembond tend to have lasting scars; their hides rarely ever heal fully.
It’s uncommon, though not unheard of, for dragons who survived the disease to develop large, opalized scars over previous affected areas.
My piece for @sornieth-zines !! This was my first time participating in a zine, it was so fun getting to see everyone else's pieces before they were finished! Thank you to the mods for organising everything :D link to zine >:)
Volume 3 is finally OUT! The theme this volume was focused on was the Trading Post. You can view and download it with this link here!
Special shoutout to having one of the applicants creating the cover for this volume as well! Thank you @tigercomplexes!
With this release, we will also sadly announce that this will be the final volume we will be working on. The two mods on this now have full time jobs and we couldn't give our full focus on this fun project. So we would like to thank our applicants and the FR fandom for giving us the opportunity to do THREE volumes of FR focused pages! <3
Hey y'all, if I posted the lines, no colors or anything, for the Beamstalkers, would anyone be interested?
That way you can color them, gene them, make your own linebreaking terts for them, n all that?
I can also post the unclipped, un-multiplied shadows layer as a png for y'all too so you don't have to shade as much, all you have to do is clip it over whatever coloring layers you put and hit multiply! (it's the same shading color Fr uses for their dragon accent bases)
The pose I drew is the female pose, but because they're not a real breed, it doesn't matter,
now that we have one dino gene on the baldies, we can get OTHER dino genes on them too
Anky, Parasaurolophus, Tupandactylus
With Antlers, we can see about other animal horns, spines, and crests on the dusties
Ossicones(giraffes), Bearded Dragon spines(Dragon? Bearded?), rams horns (*with a bit of fur), Crested gecko helmet.
Idk. A lot of animals and creatures have interesting head shapes that FR could just add as terts to the dusties (they're so bald, makes for a decent tert canvas)
because there's not nearly enough terts that bother the head.
Hmm the recent drama has caused me to enjoy the community less. Negativity is very stressful to me, I just don’t do well with angry emotions from others and while they are totally justified and free to keep venting… I think I’m seeing too much of it, so I may have to unfollow some people and follow more positive posters.
Interact with this post if your blog is *mostly* drama free! I need more FR blogs to follow ☺️
