Upon rewatching Wish, I noticed how Magnifico is more in line with a cult leader.

He convinced people his beliefs about their wishes and had them come with him to find an island to built his kingdom where he appointed himself king. On par with how cult leaders made themselves the sole leader because they founded the cult.

News of Rosas spread to other lands and several people came to move, under the pretense that the kingdom is a place where their dreams will come true.

Another factor is how Magnifico made a law that no one in Rosas is allowed to use magic but himself. But when Star, a more powerful being than him, came to Rosas to aid Asha, he fears that people will figure out that his wish system is unneeded and that he will lose power and influence. Basically, a cult leader who paints himself as a god but then a real god came from the heavens, he'd be in hot water once that real god finds out what his intentions are and reveals to his followers the truth.

And of course, him and only him decides what's best for Rosas. But his decisions and the wish system itself barely benefits his people but himself. He gave them roofs over their heads, but few if not never the things they wanted, their wishes coming true. He does grants the wishes, but only does so very sparingly because he didn't want all of his people to get what they dreamed, and therefore no more followers to be on his feet.

I've been thinking about this, about the influence the book gives to Magnifico. I really don't think the book will "force" Magnifico to do all that. Especially because, in the scene where he goes to Asha's house, he is acting like he normally does in front of everyone. (In fact this makes me think of another theory, since Magnifico always had that book, what makes us think that he had not already used it? or even in the present, just on a smaller scale…)

I think using the book is not something that takes over 100% of you, but is more of a deal. Like Dr. Facilier, with his friends on the other side. Especially because in both circumstances, they both know exactly what they are doing, they know the dangers and consequences that can occur, yet they still decide to continue with it. Maybe because they both have this personality that tends to have control and power over everything.

However, neither the book nor the spirits directly involve themselves in their actions, it's more like a "Okay, we'll give it to you, but you owe us something in return." "And if not, you'll have to pay yourself" because it's powerful magic that can't sustain itself, I guess. Actually, this is a random theory that I thought of suddenly, but still, the point that 'Magnifico didn't do anything wrong because the book was controlling him' falls short, since in that same way, we should think, 'Dr. Facilier didn't do anything wrong because in a way his "friends on the other side" were "controlling" him.

Also, I don't know about the English version, I don't have it yet, but in my language, while Magnifico is doing his spell he says "something like "desires of innocent people"… so yes he definitely knows that what he is doing is wrong, even though at that moment he had yet to delve deeper into dark magic.

I'll expand this if I find more.

I clarify that this is just more than a theory, I will not go into hate a wish any further, I just want to enjoy the movie… also…

Dr. Facilier and Magnifico could definitely be besties😩 for sure.

Oh! How did I not notice that! When I made the post looking for similarities between Star Darlings and Disney Animation movies, I forgot that in the musical sequence of Up when the girl is painting, it's very similar to Rapunzel in 'When Will My Life Begin.' Maybe it's an unintentional reference, but I LOVE it!

Forgot to mention it, but they added a new event to Disney Mirrorverse. This time it's about Tron and Woody trying to catch someone who's stealing money, or something like that. More chances to unlock Tron if you still have him (I just completed my entire Guardians collection with this event 🥹).

I think this is an obvious detail… but I like how the song 'At All Costs' represents how Asha and Magnifico care about wishes.

While Magnifico is with them, the desires appear blurry, only becoming clear when he gets too close to them. I also noticed how he manipulates them throughout the song. The blurry desires may signify the little connection Magnifico had with the inhabitants. Along with how he manipulates them in the song, it may suggest that Magnifico wasn't viewing the desires for the emotional weight each carried but rather with a superficial, materialistic gaze. Hence, he only saw these desires as trophies, like saying, "Hey! Look what I have here, I look amazing."

On the other hand, whenever the focus shifts to Asha in the song, whether she is near or far, the desires are clearer. Perhaps because Asha grew up with the people of Rosas, she understands the significant emotional weight they carry. Unlike Magnifico, who appears distant from them, she gets closer to appreciate the desires much better. This may signify that Asha has a more intimate and personal connection with them, recognizing and respecting the sentimental importance of each person's desires.

I like the detail that in fact, the common desires of the people of Rosas. They are enclosed in a normal orb.

But Asha's Wish, star, is more creative and free on his own.

In fact, Magnifico encapsulates this desire. In an orb, deprived of his freedom.

The wish is the physical representation of the desirer's feelings.

If the star had been a "Jack Frost" it would have been fine. But I think it's a materialization of Asha's feelings, it's more beautiful. It's what she keeps inside of her, it's what we all have inside of us. A beautiful desire that we wish to fulfill no matter the cost. Just like Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse, for example… I don't know if you understand my point…

I don't want to sound too much like a hater. But it does bother me that Descendants: Wicked World is on Disney+ but not Star Darlings. And I think you don't have to be Einstein to know which is the top tier series, which is really worth letting people know about.

Although star darlings is complete on youtube. The animated descendants series is too. So there wouldn't be a problem, plus that would certainly help more people know about the series. (I don't know how many dubs SD has but at least in the Spanish version, a few dubbed episodes have been lost and others, like the final special, that were not dubbed at all. So… as someone who grew up with those episodes… Yes, it does bother me that they are not even on YouTube) If I did that I would be veeeeeeeery happy, because Disney ruined it in its time with little promotion.
