【AJ x THE STAR vol. 1 】 BTS JIN’s part translation.

The guy that cooks

Jin, the visual of Bangtan Sonyeondan, is an outstanding member with a firm body and broad shoulders. However, he’s gaining popularity through a different side. Occasionally, he would upload photos of him cooking onto their blog. After debut, while being on a diet, he started (to upload those photos) with a light heart. And now, these posts were favorably reviewed and the fans are looking forward to the new updates. “In the very beginning, my intention was; if I’m on a diet eating food that doesn’t tastes good, the fans will also feel the pain (with me), even if it doesn’t tastes good, I will lose weight.” Now he doesn’t have to be on a diet and can eat whatever he wants. I asked him about the secret to his cooking. He says: “it doesn’t matter if it’s just for one person or 10 people to eat, I will always put onion in my cooking. My older brother taught me that.” It is quite weird but it tastes good. He sometimes cooks for the members too. Especially Jin specially-made tteokguk (rice-cake soup), Jimin really likes it, so he often asks Jin to cook it. I’m curious of the taste of the food made by “Chef Jin”.

Suffering from being on diet

Dieting was so painful so that he started to cook for himself. He says that being on diet was the most difficult time after debut. They live with their manager and were strictly monitored. One day when their manager wasn’t at home, the members couldn’t endure the hungriness any more so they secretly ordered chicken to eat. They were so excited and was about to eat the chicken, the entry phone at the front door started ringing. Jin panicked so he hid the chicken, but while he was doing that, the members all ran away. He says that day was seriously a bad day. And when the door opened, it wasn’t the manager but it was one of the members. It was a lucky misfortune but he felt sad. It was in a rush when he was putting away the chicken and it got ruined, so he had to throw it away. “Because this kind of incident destroys our friendship, I hope this won’t happen again.” It was a funny episode from the dieting period. Now, the members are taking care of their diet themselves. Perhaps you can say that it has become a habit of their daily lives to eat small portions every day and exercise every night.

The idol who is weak in dancing

Perfect Jin also has weakness. And it’s dance. He is being called the “black hole in dancing” among the fans. His reasoning seems pretty interesting. He says: “It’s not that I can’t dance, it’s better to say that the ‘dance’ is avoiding me. I don’t think it’s my fault. But it’s only that when I dance, I look a bit different from the others.” Jin has many dance choreography teachers. First, he learns from the choreography teacher and then learns from the members one after another. He goes over the choreography like that. Practicing over again and again should improve his skills. It might be worth it to watch Jin’s improved dancing skills on the stage. You must check it out!

Dreaming of becoming an actor

Jin is the only member that has been to an acting school. He says that before debut, he wanted to become an actor while watching the drama『Queen Seondeok』. “I was enchanted by the character ‘Bidam’. I realized that acting can make people look so cool.” And in order to study acting he applied to universities. In the middle of it, he was scouted on the street and through this opportunity; he became a member of Bangtan Sonyeondan. “Now, I haven’t thought about becoming an actor. I want to work harder until Bangtan Sonyeondan reaches the top. I will think about acting after that.” Recently he discussed about acting with Bang PD and the conclusion was that it’s too early (in other words, it’s not the best timing to go into acting right now).

Jin says: “I think I need to become cooler. Actors’ unique aura cannot be imitated.” The possibilities still remains unknown. But it seems that he is continuing to watch dramas and study through them. So that he is ready when there is a chance. He says: ”I want to act a role similar to Jang Geu-rae in『Misaeng』. But I really want to try a young master role (from a rich family).” Maybe someday, I will see you on the screen? I will be looking forward to the day when you become acknowledged as a singer and an actor.

Candy. I like sweet things. In fact I like sweet sour ice-cream more than candies.

> Most memorable gift received from the fans?

My room is full of Super Mariofigures that the fans gave me. My mum said: “Jin-ah~ can’t you tweet something like “I don’t like Super Mario” on Twitter?” Now, there’s no space in my room to put them. (Laughs)

> When we talk about「Japan」 what comes up in your mind?

Ski resort and hot spring. I’ve been to the ski resort in Japan with my family. Good memories. The ski resort in Japan, the route /trail is long and the snowy scenery is beautiful.

I like ZONE, the band that sang the sound track『Secret Base ~Something you gave me~』in the animation『Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day』. I really like them so I even recommended them to the people around me.

『Princess Mononoke』I like all of director Miyazaki’s work.

> Favorite Japanese manga?

『ONE PIECE』, 『Dragon Ball』. My favorite used to be『BLEACH』and then I started to read『ONE PIECE』. It’s a shame that I gave up『NARUTO』 in the middle. I really like『Dragon Ball』. I’ve read it more than 20 times and to the extent that I can even remember the dialogues.

The mistreatment of Jin - a BigHit callout post

A lot of people seem to think that BigHit could never do wrong and know what’s best for BTS. They think BigHit and BTS are a “family”. Well it’s time to wake up..! BigHit isn’t any better when compared to big companies like SM or YG for example. They’re just as problematic like K-Pop companies often tend to be. The perfect example of this is how they’ve been treating Jin these past 4 years.

!! - a few of these facts are just borderline emotional abuse..

okay, let’s get started:

- Apparently Bang-PD walked around calling Jin fat???? wtf (this was 2013, before their debut and around the same time Jin went on a diet no one talks about where he only ate chicken breast for A YEAR.)

- And guess what? Bang-PD isn’t the only one who has called Jin fat: even his manager did. Fortunately they fired him because he was mistreating Jungkook.

- Jin majored in acting but in the House of ARMY, he got all the insignificant roles with basically zero dialogue. Yoongi even said Seokjin had texted him, shocked that he didn’t have any dialogue in the script. In the Making of-video he was clearly pissed: when the camera man said they’ll be filming Jin next he said “Oh, wow. Do I get to appear alone?” asdfghjkl. Jin was salty, but tried so hard to be positive. (he even avoided looking straight into the camera while they were interviewing him.. on the inside he was definitely feeling wronged.)

- Let’s be honest. BigHit could easily push him in the OST direction or debut him as an actor if they wanted, but no.

- Jin was once forced to perform even though he had hurt his neck in Kcon Paris. BigHit never made an official report about his condition… (it’s funny how they made a report about namjoon’s toe and suga’s ear but not this.)

- Now let’s talk about his LINES. Remember Blood, Sweat and Tears where he had to share his few lines with Jimin? That was the most unnecessary thing ever. (later in the japanese ver. they made jin’s voice stand out more than jimin’s. lol I guess even BigShit felt a bit guilty??) I’ve seen people trying to defend this by saying that it’s okay because Jin was the ~Main Character~ in the MV. But honestly, where is the logic in that? BTS are a K-pop group! Their voices are the most important thing about them!

- Jin is the only one who didn’t get a single line in any of the year end 2016 special stages (rainism: jungkook, as i told you: jimin, v, jungkook & class idea: namjoon, hoseok, jungkook… suga wasn’t there because of his ear injury.) He was just a backup dancer and nothing else.

- Remember when people were hyping up Spring Day because apparently this was supposed to be the song where Jin would shine… even V said Jin would surprise us all and umm.. well he didn’t.

- BigHit removed Jin from the thumbnail of Not Today MV because ????

- Speaking of Not Today. Let’s talk about this fuck up…

- *coughs* This was his only solo shot and it lasted about 2 seconds. Really. BTS filmed for almost 24 hours in cold weather and you’re telling me this is the only shot of Jin that was “good enough”. I don’t think so, because we saw the Behind the scenes-video and they were filming Jin quite a lot. They just didn’t use the clips.

- They keep telling Jin his voice is suited for ballads, but Butterfly was a ballad and he was once again the vocal who had the least amount of lines. (and some of them were not even lines like repeating “untrue” is.. not really a line)

- … so basically the ballad comment was just some bs excuse, let’s be real no one fits only 1 type of music. Plus here are some Bangtan’s slower/not hiphop songs I think Jin’s voice could easily be fitted in but he still got the least amount of lines: Spring Day Studio Version, Miss Right, YNWA, Just One Day, Outro: Propose, House of Cards, Coffee…

- Now the most recent fuck up is BTS’ cover of Seo Taiji’s song ‘Come Back Home’ and people are still debating whether Jin has ANY lines at all. The MV for the song was uploaded to CJENMMUSIC’s official youtube and their header was changed to a… group photo… of BTS… except Jin was nowhere to be seen. The fact that they forgot Jin is unbelievable and just plain disrespectful. No product should ever be released without approval and double check. None. And while we don’t know if BigHit had anything to do with the header, whose fault it is that even these other companies tend to forget Jin because they aren’t promoting him enough? This was not a simple mistake. It means that design and marketing teams from HUGE companies like CJEN don’t see him.

Hey, I had a quick question and I'm not sure if you've already answered or explained this elsewhere. (If so, apologies in advance.) I was just curious as to why you decided to go the Do-M/Sub route with Reiji? (It's the first time I've seen someone go that route with him.) Was it simply personal preference? Character analyzes - Some facts to know about Ayato,and his true feelings :

Some facts to know about Ayato,and his true feelings :

Many people don’t really get Ayato’s bond with Cordelia or simply misinterpret it .

In their majority ,probably because their main,but unfortunately way too unreliable and OOC source is the Anime.

But the actual relationship between Ayato and Cordelia is quite different.At least from his side.

Even if Ayato (at his current age) usually shows irritation and speaks ill of his mother ,that is like that simply for him to try forget the bitter deep feelings he has towards her.

What you see in the anime,or in the games as “possessive behavior"of Ayato towards the PC (with default but changeable name Yui) ,and many people misinterpret it as “love”,it is actually Ayato’s desire to hold ,to posses,the only thing that reminds him of the woman he couldn’t really obtain i.e Cordelia.

Usually the words he speaks towards the player’s character ,wishing to be the “first ,"the only” ,to be acknowledged accepted and loved,are actually feelings and the unspoken words he had towards his mother .Seeking trough his entire life her acknowledgement and love even after her death .

Many people try present that Ayato kills Cordelia out of hatred,but you really must be too flat minded to believe in that,because if you have paid any attention to Ayato’s words and tears while he was killing her in MB,you might have got the real reasons.

But lets go back even further during his childhood which was mostly shown in the fandisc on More Blood in details.

There you will see the kid Ayato loving his mother so deeply,that he will endure her cruelty towards him,that he will try to be the best so she to finally love him.

That he will try do his dream castle just for her,so he will finally have her.

You can also hear the kid Laito’s words toward Ayato,that usually just tries to discourage him even more,telling him that she will never love anyone but Karlheinz,that no matter what Ayato does she will not notice him,nor respond to his feelings.

Laito senses pretty well Ayato’s deep affection towards Cordelia,and knows that Ayato dreams to have Cordelia only for himself.

(Laito also does that to Kanato too but that is another topic.)

However Laito is not really right,because Cordelia did notice Ayato’s efforts ,unfortunately she is not really all that interest in the children living her bohemian life and trying to “get drank” in the lust in order to forget what Karlheinz is doing to her.

In MB is pretty well shown how Karlheinz ruins Cordelia,playing with her deep love,and because of that she turns her frustration to the one closer to her,to the one that always craves her attention and love the most - little Ayato .

But eventually when he grows up ,Ayato gets overwhelmed by her not because of the beatings and bad treatment he had to endure from her.He gets overwhelmed by the despair that he will not ever be capable to obtain her .

Ayato’s reasons to kill Cordelia is same as Laito’s(Laito from the original game only though) ,and the reason is to forcefully give her the “eternal vampire love"which is the act of taking the beloved one’s life ,and also a symbolic rape in this case.Forcefully giving her that love.

Ayato is the first one to ever dare to oppose Cordelia,and when he sees her begging him to be with Karlheinz at least in her last moments,this only breaks his heart that loves her too strong .

The act of murdering her is an act to seal her for only themselves(the triplets even though mostly Ayato and Laito are the ones in action) .They do it so they will never have to share her with other man and to feel rejected by her .

However her personality and their love towards her is so overwhelming that it controls them even after her physical death (considering they originally don’t know she have survived trough her heart) .

And only because of that ,later ,Ayato shows possession towards the PC.He shows no love nor real care for the PC ,trough his entire rout and even in the best ending in the original game of Diabolik Lovers Haunted Dark Bridal .His words when he ran from the wedding with his bride towards her were possessive like owning the perfect blood bag that only safely reminds him about the woman he truly loved,but is not dangerous like her.Possessive words to hold her and never lose her/or share her/ because he couldn’t hold that way the one he actually loved.And even if a lot of the fangirls misinterpreted those words,out of inability to understand them,or wishful thinking,or poor fan translations,it doesn’t matter,however the PC herself knew she was an "object"for Ayato and that she can not "save"him,yet she was loving him,knowing he will forever love and hate another (just like Laito from the original game too) .

So those words of possession,were never words of love.The possession of the proxy of the one he couldn’t obtain.

However in his bad ending (with mixed S&M answers) there,he would go mad and overwhelmed learning about Cordelia’s heart,and fearing not to lose his only beloved ( his mother) again,he will kill her vessel,because for him he desires Cordelia that much and she overwhelms him so much that the only way to have her is sealed inside of him trough that murder.

So to conclude it,if you really pay attention in both games for Ayato,the original DL and the fandisc AU of MB,when you hear his desire to acknowledgement and possession,you must know this is not really towards the PC(Yui) his desires and words are to Cordelia,words he couldn’t tell her,the one he couldn’t obtain,and now with her plain submissive proxy he can have a "safe” replacement,but he will never love her like he loves Cordelia (and is sad how the anime ruins him making him OOC in order to like Yui) .

Because of all of this,his inability to bond with the PC ,inability to love her,when simply viewing her as a replacement object for who he truly loved to the point of hating ,Ayato got the lowest rank in the popularity poll after the first game….And considering he is the “main guy” in DL,they began to slowly arse him ,fluff him and make him OOC .

But the original Ayato and even the later Ayato in MB ,the Ayato from the anime before ep 9 (where things started to get even more random) that Ayato loves only Cordelia .

Bitter,deep,dark ,overwhelming love,that the way to consume it was trough the act of murder .

And at the end,lets not forget his nickname towards the PC/listener -it is “chichinashi"meaning "no boobs”, why do you think he uses exactly this to name her? Because he subconsciously compares her flatness to his mothers fine big breasts ,which he misses :) .

He will always compare everything to his mother,fear her,love her and hate her,and never permit her to “live"again because that way he will "lose” her again .And will seek only comfort in that scent of her blood ,and the power that this blood can give him,to become a worthy man for her (Cordelia) .

So in fact,the only reason for Ayato to want to posses the PC,is his obsession with Cordelia .And when he speaks bad about Cordelia is out of the frustration that he realizes he will only ever dream of her- Cordelia.

Do you think that 16 year olds are too young for the DL fandom? There seems to be a decently sized argument attached to this topic at the moment, many people claiming anyone under 18 who flirts with it will 'regret it', apparently. Thoughts?

I can’t pretend to speak for every kid below 16 in the world, so I don’t think I have enough authority to really decide on this one way or the other. The games after the first one are rated cero-D so the creators are suggesting that people below 17 not play the games. But I know lots of immature 20-somethings and more mature and down-to-earth 16-year-olds, so I think in this case age is just a number.

I mean, if you get into Diabolik Lovers and get influenced by it in the sense that you think that you’d want to be in Yui’s shoes and that the guys are legitimately people you’d want to date in real life, that’s really not an issue of age…

Let people do what they want. If they regret it, that’s their business.

Everything Ep.10 changes

I’ve already made a post briefly summarizing the most important changes, but now let’s get a deeper look at everything I could find whose meaning is different now that we know about the party:

1) Victor watching the video of Yuri dancing to “Stay by Me & Never Leave”

Before: Victor saw the potential Yuri had and decided to coach him

Now: Victor saw the potential Yuri had and, considering the routine is about asking someone to stay by your side, likely also interpreted it as Yuri calling to him to be his coach.

2) Victor’s certainty in his choice

Before: Victor is so sure of himself he didn’t even worry that Yuri might not want to have him as a coach and simply moved to his place without asking.

After: he wasn’t worried because he thought Yuri remembered asking him for it and considering the video of him, Victor assumed that hadn’t changed.

3) The flirting and closeness

Before: Victor doesn’t understand personal space and/or is trolling because he knows how Yuri reacts to flirting

Now: Victor saw Yuri even pole dance half naked. They held each other and danced together. Yuri clung to him while dry-humping him. And Victor clearly had a thing for him at that moment. He didn’t think Yuri would mind the closeness so much because of how Yuri had behaved that night, and all the flirting wasn’t a joke but Victor sincerely interested in Yuri

4) Eros: the playboy was…Yuri

Before: Victor made a routine on Eros where a playboy has the heart of the prettiest girl in town then leaves her. This is likely modeled on himself and his playboy/idol character

After: Victor might have modeled the playboy after Yuri. Yuri showed up, stole his heart, then left to Japan without another word. Sure maybe Victor might not have been too much in love yet, but maybe still enough that it inspired him to make that song. A more indepth analysis of this is here.
