Ash Williams from the Evil Dead franchise!!! Cannot rec the trilogy enough, some of my fav movies of all time. I still haven't seen the show, it's been on my watch list for years, I'll get to it sometime. But Ashley is one of my all time fav horror protags hes unhinged in the best way

if time were in the situations ash went thru i feel he'd react. the same. and bruce campbell's expressiveness (specifically eyebrow work) remind me so much of him. also bc both of them absolutely lose their minds.

She felt a lick of jealousy in her throat and shut her eyes to stamp the stupid thought out. “ To light and guide, to rule and guard. Have courage to forge the path ahead, for the Golden Goddess and Her Kingdom. ”

“Thank you,” he mumbled. 

Zelda retracted her arm as he stood up, quickly pulling her gloves back on. “It feels strange to bless you like this,” she admitted.

He shrugged. “Beats a battlefield.”

Zelda pressed her lips together. “I know. Be careful.” Then, she added: “That is me saying that, so you know.”

Link gave her a strange, nearly imperceptible smile. “I know the difference.”

I kinda like to think (like. a hc thingy) that partially Zelda wants to help Time out because she actually cares about Twi and so she wants to help him out by helping his great great great grandfather out because she knows Twi cares about him (hope I made sense-)

oh of course! she and twi were never super close in life, as after the events of tp link just went back to ordon to live out a humble farming life, refusing any offers/recognition from the royal family. and tp zelda respects him a lot for that.

she got close to time bc of his proximity to twi. so helping her boy's mentally ill grandpa out (bc twi isn't super equipped to be, not "hard" or "tough" per say... realistic? blunt?) was def part of it, but also, even if he wasn't related to twi, even if twi wasn't in the picture, she still would've taken it up herself to help time work thru his issues, bc that's just the kind of person she is. :)

of course, he’s not (OoT) Link without it! it would probably be over similar things he experiences in the fic: commitment issues, workplace problems, shitty social skills. except now he’s got a digital watch no sword and has to pay taxes

the reason he can survive is bc of TEKKNO AND ALKOHOL

Talk about the time/twi/legend trio coward

OKAY. SO. Time, despite the entire world out to get him even in death, has friends. The trio as mentioned, but also Twilight Zelda, whos kind of his unofficial therapist bc she's the only one that's willing to be. she keeps it real w him. but ill get into that later

TIME AND TWILIGHT: Time is literally Twi's great great great grandpa. but its also so much more than that.... i mean. HERO'S SHADE! i dont want to show all my cards early, since hero's shade is Time's ""ending"", so I'll just talk abt superficial things. COUNTRY BOYES. FISHING BUDDIES. Time has a lot of fckin feelings abt Twi, and Twi feels bad for him but not out of pity, out of an actual deep empathy, so they know they can depend on each other. Time is a bit more clingy, so, since Twi is just a really nice guy, he's friends with EVERYONE, including those Time doesn't like, which he's kind of insecure abt. Time also tends to project onto Twi, who in response is just like "ok lets get u to bed old guy" But their relationship is built on mutual support/understanding which is something Time spent his entire mortal life lacking. :(

TIME AND LEGEND: these two are... sooo similar! both were young when they saved hyrule (I hc legend to have been around 14), both were unequipped to go back to "normal" peaceful life, so they left for (unbeknownst to them) fantasy worlds, fell in love w/ redheads, DESTROYED these worlds on purpose, and spent the rest of their lives trying to find purpose again. They were aimless and alone in life, so they truly understand each other in death. Ironically, Legend's ordeals in hyrule were a direct consequence of Time failing, DYING and being unable to sop Ganondorf, yet Legend bares no grudge or ill will against him at all, which means a lot to Time. Theyre two outcast warriors and understand each other's dark sides. (theyre also huge music snobs and listen to vinyl together)

TIME AND TWI ZELDA: Twi Zel keeps it fcking real. She saw how marooned and lost Time was, and how, even tho he found comfort thru Twi, and understanding thru Legend, he had no one to actually. Work thru his problems. So she stepped up. She's not afraid to be honest with him, to force him to identify the flaws in his thinking, and say "you're dead. you already lost your chance in life. but its still not too late to try to find peace." its something Time really needs and they end up having a very deep bond and connection.

WELL anon. welcome to Hylia's Hype House. think the reality show Big Brother but its an afterlife where no one can leave. heres an old but still accurate relationship chart made by @rysktchy since this is something we conceived together during 2020

regarding Time and Sky..... WELL

So, Time is the black sheep in the Hype House, because of it being him who ends up splitting the timeline in 3. (its also sheik's fault, but he's so miserable about it no one likes to pick on him) Time is opinionated and not afraid to be blunt, which makes him the punching bag. Hylia views him as "difficult". Sky is the #1 Hylia Simp (ss zelda is separate from hylia here), Hylia dislikes Time, Time dislikes Hylia, so Sky is caught in the crossfire. He defends her and that annoys the fuck out of Time, and Time frustrates Sky bc of how stubborn/disrespectful he is.

Sky isn't confrontational and really hates fighting, but Time is very defensive. Hylia is usually the one to piss him off by saying a snide comment, yet its Sky that jumps to her defense and does much of the arguing. And if Sky Zelda is there, which 90% she is, she jumps in there too, to defend Sky. It's all by design.

They don't hate each other, they just don't understand each other. Time specifically is incredibly jealous of Sky, since he was celebrated in his lifetime, is favored by Hylia, and gets to spend eternity with his wife. Time is LONELYYYYYYY

that being said, as time goes on and more Links n Zelds start showing up, it becomes entertaining for some of them (mainly the kids like Wind and the FS quadruplets, as well as most the Zeldas) to start forcing them together in different situations. the Zeldas r definitely yaoi shipping them. (every zelda is a fujoshi bc Hylia is THIS IS MY DECREE) every time i listen to this song i think of them LMAO

anyways I think thats all I got rn, thanks so much for the ask!! Hylia's Hype House is something I'm planning on writing/developing once my ordinary life wraps up, since its like a crack-taken-seriously epilogue/sequel lol. WE'LL SEE WHEN I GET THERE.... WE'RE GETTING CLOSE!!!!

I remembered something!

I hc all links to be short EXCEPT. Time. Bc 1) Hero's Shade and 2) for all the suffering I've forced him to endure, the least I can do is make him Tall. I hc Hylians to be short people in general, so Link is taller than average. I'd put him at like 5'11. (still can't get to 6 feet.....)

on the topic of heights, I'd put Cremia and Kafei at 5'10, and Malon at 5'9. Cremia and Malon's uncommon heights on account of being Gerudo, and Kafei's on the implication (and my interpretation/hc) that he's Link's Terminian counterpart

I like the idea of him being the tallest Link bc he is very Grumpy Grandpa coded, and is the most influential Hero (in the sense of splitting the timeline.... so many events come back to the Hero of Time's actions.... another talk for another time.........) so I like the visual of all the other Links LITERALLY. looking up to him

now that we are on Link topic. do you have any other hcs that you've not included in the fanfic? like extra info and stuff?

I kind of regret not doing more with the Ocarina of Time, and time travel in general. Like, towards the end, Link would definitely try to use it, right? I think I'm going to do a major overhaul of the Termina arc soon.

Link was originally going to be very open about his past adventures. But i decided bottling everything up and feeling ashamed about it and letting it fester like a rotting wound would be sadder :)

sexuality was going to be a concept i explored in the fic. ultimately i wanted to keep it a T rating so i didn't do this, but. it was definitely a thing! cut things include lotsssss of Sheik baggage, boyish feelings about Kafei, weird fierce deity sex dreams and um. remember Javert?

Javert and Link wereeee... supposed to fuck! I even wrote a before and after scene LOLLL. Javert was going to play a more important role in general, being a semi-reoccurring character. He was planned to be Link's kind of """only friend""" in Castletown. Link was drawn to him because of how much older and experienced he was, and Javert took pity on Link, both in a sort of genuine but also kind of overbearing way. ultimately Link got annoyed by him pretty quickly and once he started to get to know Malon he basically ghosted him. another example of how Link struggles to balance relationships, especially those who really care for him. obviously i. didn't go further with this. but it was planned for about a year before I scrapped it. But i hope you reread their scene together to pick up on some vibes.....

since im already being disgusting um. bottom. praise kink. but he never really finds this out. how sad.

when i was first conceptualizing his character, i was actually going to write link as bipolar. I ended up writing him more adhd/autism as thats closer to my own personal experience. but its still in the back of my mind, and it definitely manifests more as he gets older. but this man has so much going on please project anything you want on him and its real he has it
