„i can do it with a broken heart” gives me such a bo burnham vibes and i love that , especially the lines „cause i’m miserable, and nobody even knows!”. he really should sing it as a cover

people pointing to the silliest lyrics on ttpd and using them as evidence that taylor swift is "cringe" or a bad songwriter is making me want to commit acts of violence

Seeing people say "wait TTPD is growing on me" is soooo frustrating because how could you ever think you're going to form a fully-fledged opinion on a new piece of music after listening to it once???? Our culture of instant gratification is ruining us.

And: ooooh there are so many words in her songs!!! that was my favorite, like: how dare she writes songs and put text there. like literally its her job. have they ever heard all too well 10 min version?
Critiques of Taylor Swift in 2024 are literally just like oh noooo she does her job too much!! oh noooo too many people like her!!! Oh nooooo she works too hard!!! Oh noooo she was a little too honest in her music!! OH NOOOOOO

i just wanna make a post about how insanely talented taylor is and how much awe i am in about how much she absolutely loves her art. she’s so resilient and brave for taking something that broke her and making beautiful poetic music out of it while being on a world tour where she plays three 3.5 hour shows each week. she can indeed do it with a broken heart, and goddamn im so grateful that she constantly chooses to share this with us and lay herself bare.

The Tortured Poets Department is a great reminder that women don't owe the world pretty. Taylor Swift doesn't owe anyone an easily digestible pretty pop album wrapped in a bow with short songs you can make TikToks to. She's allowed to present something raw, uncomfortable, and vulnerable to the world.
