how often would you say you're able to partake in ritual/magical practices? weekly?
I partake in ritual and magical practices every day, without fail, even if they're not always "big."
In a more formalized context, though, I also partake in a fae communion weekly and carry out at least two Housels to my Witching Gods a month (depending on the Lunar schedule). I additionally undertake eight Cardinal Sabbaths a year that involve me dedicating myself to the Land, the Ancestors, and the ogdoadic aspects of my High Initiator, the Old Spider.

Hi! firstly love your posts, it's always so nice to see you on my dash :) secondly i had no idea about robin artisson and loved several of his books, but now feeling really disgusted by him. i was wondering if you had any author recommendations in a similar style and especially topic? ie. traditional witchcraft, the good folk, etc ..?
I'm reference to this: x
Thank you! That's very sweet of you to say. ♡
I'm sorry to bear bad news. 😕 I don't enjoy or make a point of calling out people in that way—especially when I don't actually know them—but I've just seen too much credible evidence about him to ignore. As for good suggestions that are similar but worth supporting, I'm honestly not the best with suggesting resources. I don't interact with too much occult literature anymore, as I've been more focused on unpacking and making sense of the magic my spirits have shared with me over the past couple of years. As a result, I don't have the easiest time calling suggestions to mind anymore.
Anyone else who has their own suggestions to make are encouraged to, though!

I had an extremely special experience recently.
Not long ago, I met a pagan from our local area—which is decently rare with how rural and evangelical this region is—and ended up making plans with my husband to visit the commune she lives on further into the woods from us.
The commune itself was pretty amazing and unusual, and it's hard for me to do it justice without writing up a whole story about it, but suffice it to say that it's a very powerful and fascinating place. One especially striking aspect of this commune is the fact that there is a singular pioneer grave from 1901 hidden in the forest, not too far from them, which has been visited and propitiated by member of this commune for decades.
The man buried there was said to be an Irish immigrant who lived in a homestead nearby with his "close male companion of many years" before being buried alone there. Though, now, he is a beloved figure to this queer punk collective in the woods, and they sometimes bring him things like tobacco, beer, and coins as offerings.
It was such a joy and an honor to be shown this sacred place by the people who have watched over it for years, as well as being given leave to visit it. When I met him initially, I left a naturally round and smooth green jasper stone that I found by the sea upon his headstone. These pictures were taken on my second visit, wherein I brought him tobacco and rum, and received a clear omen shortly thereafter that it was alright for me to photograph.
What a truly wonderful place.

To any whom it may concern:
I will be largely out of reach between April 23 and May 2. You are more than welcome to send any messages or requests you may have during that time, but my ability to respond will be limited for a while.
I will be undergoing some fairly big shifts with my webshop/website for a while as well, so stay posted where that is concerned. And know that you can contact me here, as opposed to my website, if you ever need to.

@rye-333 I'm so glad it serves you well, and thank you for your kind words!
if someone specified the materials theyd like, could you give an estimate for a custom set of prayer beads? im not sure what all you have access to, or even what all i would like, but its an option im considering.
thank you 💕✨️
Yes, absolutely! This is one of my favorite things to do, and I am happy to work with clients to find and acquire whatever materials they're looking for, whenever possible. 🙂
Please feel free to send me a message at any time with an inquiry, and we can go from there. And please know that I'm perfectly willing to be as involved in the design process as you'd like! I've had commissions where every single aspect of the piece's design was under the instruction of the client, from how materials were sourced to when the piece was constructed. Alternatively, I've also had commissions where a client has given me a vague theme/style they're interested in, along with a budget, and then told me to design the piece myself. Whatever the case may be, I always work closely with a client to make sure that the piece meets their specifications. 😊

do you have any recommendations for how to come up with your own correspondences for herbs? i usually see people recommend the trial and error process b/c that seems likely to cause some (potentially serious?) errors.
I don't think trial and error has to be dangerous, so long as you are experimenting with very simple and subtle magics and taking thorough notes.
That being said, though, I find that a mixture of traditional lore and botanical insight is probably the best starting place.

hi lailoken! been quite a while since i checked tumblr and was pleasantly surprised to learn you've taken on an apprentice. they're so lucky! curious about your criteria in accepting an apprentice 🙂
I feel lucky to have found them!
The only real criteria for an apprentice, at this point, is that the spirits unmistakably bring us together. I have been quite resistant to taking on any sort of mentoring role, and I honestly wasn't sure if I ever would, but my Spirit Kith made it undeniably clear that this person and I are linked closely by the Wyrd, and that I am expected to aid them in becoming a spiritual successor to this tradition

So this might be a strange question but I've had a bird come into my job on three different shifts this week (I've done 4) and while I have no proof it's the same bird I feel like it is because what are the odds?? Is this some kind of Sign? It's a fantail if it makes a difference at all I'm just Confounded
Based on your description here, I can't say clearly if this is an omen or not. Much depends on the context of your current life and/or spiritual practice, as well as the mundane circumstances surrounding these occurences.
Can a bird showing up multiple times be an omen? Absolutely. But it can also simply be a neat experience where you got to see a bird multiple times. If there's nothing at all that this would make clear sense as an omen for, then it's probably not worth tying yourself in a knot trying to figure out what it could mean. And who knows—perhaps months from now, it will take on a new meaning for you.

This is a picture I took of our Nidus Altar following a ritual of domestic safeguarding carried out there. We made use of a ceramic candle holder that my husband designed and constructed in order to amplify and direct candlelight forward in a beam, and I think this picture captures that effect quite nicely.

My husband crafted this special pot, inscribed with symbols of protection and painted using a pottery glaze that he made using ashes from our hearth.
A House Leek was ritually planted within this pot before it was placed atop our roof to help protect the home from both Spiritual Malefice and Dangerous Weather—a piece of ancient Anglo-Saxon folk-magic that is dear to my family.

Your first experience that peaked your curiosity enough to venture down the rabbit hole of your path?
Since I was raised Pagan and prepared for my path from a young age, I don't have a very clear answer for this. I was having and relaying intense spiritual experiences by the time I was old enough to talk.
That being said, when I was seven years old, I met an Irish Faery Doctor who was the first of multiple Gloaming Intercessors to tell me that I was touched by the spirits and destined to work with them. My mother had been told this before I was even born, so I had already been slowly led to understand that I was "sensitive" by my family, but this was my first time hearing it said so bluntly. What's more, an experience I had with that Faery Doctor was definitely an early turning point that made me feel personally determined to "live up to" my potential as a Gloaming Intercessor, as well as doing a lot to help cement the prominence of an Anglo-Celtic folkloric influence upon my personal understanding of the Otherworld. (I say "cement" because I already came from an Anglo-Celtic familial heritage, but I'm also galf Paraguayan and my family was quite open to my exploration of other cultural lenses.)

Raffle: Braided Crabapple Stave (OPEN)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This raffle is for a unique Stave of braided, thorny wood that harvested from a 120+ year old Crabapple tree. It measures approximately 34 inches/86 centimeters in length and 1.5 inches/4 centimeters wide at its thickest point.
After initially acquiring the rare specimen in question, I went about curing the wood, smoothing the ends, and cleaning up some ragged branch stumps. While I usually debark pieces of this sort before working on them, the particular helical structure and profusion of thorns made me worried about being able to strip and sand the piece without damaging it. As such, I instead gave it a thin coat of handmade Dragon's Blood varnish to help stabilize and prime the wood, and then went about staining the entire piece using a polymerized oil pigment I make from Hearth Soot (Creosote) harvested from the interior of our Wood Stove. I applied layer after layer of the pigment until the bark was thoroughly coated and preserved, then used a cloth and my homemade Wisefool’s Oil (a ritually crafted oil of empowerment that also serves as a wonderful wood conditioner) to polish away the excess, before sealing the piece with my personally developed Wisefool's Glaze (a ritually empowered wood varnish made from an array of potent arboreal resins.) Finally, I gave the stave one last protective coating of polyurethane and suffumigated it with a smoke of Apple Blossoms and Dragon's Blood in a simple rite of hallowing.
While the retail price for this item is $200, I am taking the risk of setting up this raffle, in hopes that it might aid me in raising enough money to help us ease the cost of emergency surgery my dog required recently.
Tickets are $5 a piece, each assigned a number, and you can purchase up to three of them. To purchase a ticket, simply use the link below and follow the provided instructions. You will be asked to make an account and fill in your payment details, which will allow the raffle to email you your entry information, as well as automatically notifying the winner when the time comes. Participants are more than welcome to deactivate their accounts following the raffle. A random number generator will be used after ten days' time in order to determine which ticket number is the winner.
Thank you, truly and sincerely, to anyone and everyone who takes part! Please feel free to let me know if you come up against any issues! And as an aside—even if you don't end up entering the raffle, I'm sure that sharing it would still be helpful. :~)

I was reading that ask of yours about tree ghosts and it's so fascinating. I'm a logger and kind of obsessed with the way trees are seen as having spirits instead of being spirits, if that makes sense. They are really mad about getting cut down, hippie types are correct about that. That's why logging is actually one of the most dangerous careers, trees will lash out and so many people die because they find creative ways to drop branches square on the back of the logger's neck. Especially wolf trees, the first trees that colonize a place, they will fight to the bitter end and are incredibly dangerous to cut. They don't really tend to curse people, other than the extremely real material curse of negligent tree management and abuse of the environment, and we really do pay for that in many ways. People forget that trees are very vengeful and possessive things though, and sometimes we need to cut down the big trees and the sick trees so the little trees underneath can grow. So it's kind of wild that people think the best thing you can do is never cut down trees, even without considering that workers need to make a living and we need to build houses and make paper and all that stuff, and cut down trees and make wood products so the carbon in our environment is in a preserved chair or house instead of released in the atmosphere as gas, just rotting in the woods. The nuance and politics of trees and tree management is a really good insight into witchcraft and how energies work on that kind of scale. Sorry, just thought that was cool. Hope you are having a good day :)
In reference to this: x
I definitely agree with what you say about Trees being vengeful at times, and about them having a role in how many loggers get hurt or killed. I actually married into a multigenerational logger family, and my father in law had to go on workman's comp for life after a tree broke his spine.
As for the rest, there's a lot there, and I agree with parts of it. However, my thoughts overall on the subject are pretty nuanced and likely controversial to some, so I don't feel like trying to get into them here.

Can you share a bit about Cain? I’ve seen a number of posts of yours, particularly from the Psalter of Cain and I get the general idea that Cain was the first “tiller of the ground.” But I’m wondering if you can answer this: why (imagine italics) work with him? Why work with a murderer (who albeit had his offering rebuffed by Yahweh but a murderer nonetheless)?
This (x) is another answer I gave to a semi-related question, which I think helps to contextualize Cain in the scheme of modern traditional witchcraft some.
As for your last question about working with him, I only ever have in the direct context of work outlined by the Cultus Sabatti which called for it—a tradition that I didn't ultimately feel a strong connection to or choose to pursue. As such, you'd almost certainly be better off asking another practitioner for their thoughts on the matter.
