Been hearing this is a problem again. Don't be a dick in bookmarks, folks. And yes while I made this image, I'm giving free reign. Take it. Spread it far and wide. Because I'm hearing that some readers don't know that their bookmarks are visible.

#tbh I think AO3 should make bookmark notes private #like I do think there should be a place where readers can ‘annotate’ a work and it ONLY be visible to them #like a lot of ppl in the replies are going ‘people are so mean in their bookmarks!!! 😡’ and it’s like #majority of those commenters had no clue YOU could see it #they might’ve put that note so THEY can remember how a work made them feel #not for YOU to see and internalize #personally I think the only areas authors should be able to see are the comments and kudos and NUMBER of bookmarks #but readers deserve to be able to speak freely and privately in their annotations #authors don’t need access to all of the thoughts & feelings of their readers #edit: and I know you can Private the bookmarks themselves #but that then hides the entire story from your bookmark list #I’m saying there should be a middle ground #and bookmark notes should be invisible to the author by default

So apparently KOSA (2024 edition) is getting either thrown out until next year or put into effect in six days.

Update that's going in the main post at the top: it has enough support to pass.

It failed the last two times because people were voting against it.

This time, KOSA has traction among the pro-LGBTQ parties. Because nobody is fucking calling their bullshit and screaming from the rooftops that calling it the "Kids Online Safety Act" is misleading.

What will it passing do?

Nothing much, only prevent any education on LGBTQIA+ (it's that stupid fucking argument about us grooming kids again), shut down nearly every fandom space on the internet, and make it required for most big tech companies to have your ID.

Want to have resources for kids to discover their identity readily available? Yes? Then fucking speak up against this stupid fucking bill.

Fandom spaces like Tumblr, Twitter (? I thought the MAGA assholes liked Musk?), Tiktok, Archive Of Our Own, and any other website that hosts fanfic or fanart? Either shut down permanently, forced to uproot to a different country and down for a while (best case scenario, and they likely won't be able to send any data, and therefore fanfics, to the US), or gutted so that you only get to put G rated cishet ships on there, if any shipping at all. How to avoid that? I've already said it: Call your fucking representatives.

Want to avoid the fucking dystopic task of being legally obligated to give big tech your government issue ID? Again, cause an uproar. Call your goddamned representatives.

If they can pass this, the ripple effects could be catastrophic.

So, for fuck's sake, any Americans that can impact this stupid fucking bill and see this? Do everything in your power to shut it down because you have until February twenty sixth (26th) to send this bill back to where it belongs.

And if you can't do that? Reblog, copy my tags, and boost the signal.

Sorry not sorry for ranting, making you scroll through that, and swearing a probably excessive amount, but KOSA is a bill with a GLOBAL IMPACT being passed by ONE COUNTRY because some old people are scared of two guys with who were told they were girls kissing within five hundred miles of a child. Fuck this shit, I shouldn't have to worry about bad bills in America but I fucking do because I use the internet and would like to avoid mass censorship. Fuck this, fuck conservatives, and fuck the fact that some boomers make your country's policies.

Now, if you won't mind me, I'm going to be up until three in the morning downloading fanfiction or copying and pasting them into a a text file if I can't so I can read them by the end of the week.

Sandy is the only guardian that interacts with adults. He will send them dreams just as he does to the children. It is in part because he has always sent them dreams and thinks they would simply not understand if after one night they never dreamed again. He also has a whacky perception of time too and a 101year old person is still so very young compared to him! 

In addition to this, dreams are extremely personal. Sandy has had decades of an elder’s life to get to know them from the first time they fell asleep to the last. He knows who they care about and what they both fear and love the most. Every dream Sandy sends is a message as detailed as a handwritten letter and deeply private, as dreams cannot be shared and most dreams are forgotten shortly after waking, locked away in the subconscious. 

Sandy speaks to every dreamer on Earth every time they sleep, he watches them grow and knows how best to soothe them into an eventual sleep. 

In the Warren, Jack asks when was the last time the Guardians actually hung out with kids. Sandy is gone by that point but hey, for him it was the last time any one of them fell asleep.

there seems to be a major backlash against the phrase "animation is cinema" on twitter and the general reasoning that people will give you is "the phrase is good but it was ruined when people used it for baby movies like the mario movie or paw patrol" and while i sort of get where they're coming from i feel like they're completely missing the point. because (to me at least) the "cinema" in "animation is cinema' was not referring to like. prestigiousness or some level of higher art but more so that on an industry level animation is seen as "inferior" or "deserving of being completely separated" from the mainstream live action film industry to the point they get paid less and are generally seen as more disposable. like i'm not asking you to view every animated film that comes out as good or deserving of best picture because that's not the same conversation to me. it's not "the mario movie should of won an oscar" it's "i hope the animators who worked on the mario movie got paid fairly, and not less than they would of been if the film was live action"

Not gonna draw attention to the post because I suspect the person might blow a gasket, but it's always so funny to me when you see someone picking apart fanart, in this case, a popular fan Ot3 pairing, and they're like, "y'all have brainrot, this'll never be canon, you realize that?"

And maybe I'm just ancient, but since when has fandom ever been about validating canon? Canon is incidental to fandom output. It is, at best, a guideline. You can stick to it, or you can go so far off the beaten path that you fall off the edge of the world and wind up in a new one where the map has words like "here be dragons" stamped in the upper corner.

Fandom is about exploration beyond the canon. It can look like canon, talk like canon, and sometimes even emulate it so perfectly you'd swear you've found the author's secret account, but it doesn't have to.

Ultimately, however, it's about having fun. And if you can't understand that, I have no idea what you're doing here.
