i'll just share the video.
i'm not sure how to put it into words yet and i need the time to parse it, but to understand the gyst, i already believe that messmer and st trina are miquella. if melina is also miquella, and st. trina ties the two together, then i must say a part of me feels like miquella is a fragmented being. the shattering was a shattering of power for marika, and was ultimately a shattering of order.. but the power miquella obtained from the rune he claimed, after all he'd been through in his eternal youth.. perhaps for miquella, the shattering was his psyche.
https://youtu.be/zZwct5XkWHA?si=8z3w1mx6a3Zd2qRG
i've.. been convinced that melina is also miquella.
there is something bigger going on than even i realized.

debate: is a really long sword-length but still otherwise knife-like knife valid to be considered a knife, or is it now a sword because it’s long

I do not believe Miquella to have failed at the hands of Mohg. I think he is trying to subject himself to a literalization of the alchemical process related to self actualization; essentially his goal has been to become a human philosopher's stone at any cost
By making Radahn let go of his grasp over gravity and thus spacetime, the Eclipse may come to pass. within Elden Ring, entropy exists outside of spacetime which is why Death may persist in the many ways it seems to, or why Rot still spreads and Gold still tarnishes (Rot is the embodiment of stagnation and thus flourishes in the lands between as things are; pure Gold staves off the effects because it is a symbol of pure Faith; it grants the will of the user based on their belief, which can fade causing the Gold to tarnish)
Miquella has likely separated body and soul via the haligtree to leave a corpse in the blood of the formless mother- the outer god of truth. meanwhile, expecting capture, thwir spirit spreads faith as a ghost-like spirit, under the guise of St. Trina.. Miquella has found a way to traverse what i consider "The Lands Between The Lands Between".. spreading faith in their spirit through their dreams-- as in Miquella and St. Trina.. Miquella is Saint Trina, the same way Radagon is Marika. they have managed to split their body and spirit and give each their own identity.
St. Trina is the Spirit of Miquella. his body the sun and her spirit the moon, they are demonstrating understanding of the alchemical principle of "The Unity of Opposites", carefully planning and gambling on their every move as they position their spirit and body to fundamentally contrast one another in a perfect dichotomy.
"Shadow of the Erdtree" could take place at a point where all is aligned in Miquella/Trina's favor, allowing their separate personas to re-emerge as one perfectly balanced entity known as a Rebis
The Dark Moon's presence could spur Deathroot to grow much stronger and faster. the light of the Golden Erdtree now gone and no longer even burning, The Dark Moon then strangles and bends any remaining Erdtrees. the lack of light pollution now reveals a light source; a previously unseen ball of light in the sky; a proper Sun. These massive, Erdtree-sized Deathroots grip and squeeze golden sap from the Erdtrees that once bore life and formed miraculous crystals. as the Dark Moon crosses the sky in front of said Sun, Death becomes life itself, the concepts overlapping as Life's inseperable counterpart flourishes.
from here, like a sick Easter in the Lands Between; The Body of Miquella awakens soulless and without a will of its own. Alongside it, the corpses of Godwyn and Ranni.*
as the light of Gold wanes, the namely Shadow of the Erdtree is cast by a Sun that, beyond some lost or forgotten Belfry or passage, was once blocked from shining light where Trina's spirit presently slept. She now awakes from her slumber, the returning Sun acts as the signal for her to act. She collects the golden sap from the wrung trees on her quest to reconvene with her body as it lay soaking.
the putrefied body of the sun awakens to a dark moon, the spirit of the moon and saint of slumber awakens to the light of the sun.. their physical body soaked in the red blood of truth and their ephemeral spirit wringing the golden yellow sap of faith from the branches that once bore them like fruit
all is in perfect pull of one another, and every aspect appears to be in place for their transformarion into a Rebis: a Blackened Corpse, a Pure Soul, the Red Blood of truth and the golden-yellow sap of life and Faith..
*it's important to note that for this theory to cohere; Miquella, Godwyn, Ranni, and possibly even Malenia might've been in communication with each other, planning something beyond anyone else's conception with Miquella pulling all of the strings.
*I also personally believe Ranni=Melina and that Godwyn may have an unknown counterpart as well. applying this logic to the above theory doesn't necessarily hurt the ideas portrayed and in fact kinda lends a hand to them, however there's not much to confirm about this

Quick appendage. I asked in Smoughtown's discord about if the runes mean anything on the coffin. a fellow named Teslobo had already tried to decipher the runes. turns out the runes are an odd amalgamation of european and middle-eastern alphebets in which some are actually phonetic and others are runic.
to anybody that was curious, this virtually kills the notion of it being decrypted. It does at least tell me one thing; the language of the lands is suggested to be a melting-pot language from around europe and the mediterranean, further establishing my understanding of the inspiration of the lands between; the period directly following the fall of Rome of from the perspective of a returned roman in the british isles, long after the Crossing of The Rhine around the 400s AD, in real life.
some tidbits and nuances i've wanted to bring light to:
The coffins that you use to fall down the waterfalls and send you to new areas might simply operate on sensory deprivation. the Tarnished could be depriving themselves of their senses before taking a fatal impact which just temporarily kills them. the Tarnished already knows that they can die and come back, even if they don't fully grasp how. the Tarnished gets into the coffins with what feels like predisposed knowledge that they can just hop into one and transport them to somewhere they need to go. Uniquely, there's one coffin that actually transports you upward, with glowing runes on the coffin itself, and more runes channeled vertically through the air, emitting from the bottom, upward through the coffin.
Part of me feels like this is the Tarnished having some sort of knowledge of the realm of shadow that the player is not initially aware of, in the form of this innate, upward coffin transport logic.
Whether the tarnished is aware of it theirself is unknown, but the nature of the rising coffin suggests that it is an incantation that either allows the coffin to be monitored for when someone enters it, or, more likely, acts as a seal in which conditions must be met before it is triggered/broken. the conditions are likely that the coffin must be closed with a person inside of it depriving them of their senses and the outside world.
so my speculation has me trying to answer these questions right now:
-What does it mean that ranni seems to have transported herself via coffin to the Ainsel river and why is she a miniature doll when in Ainsel?
-all of the sunken locations are interconnected by coffins, so what narratively connects to the coffin transport? Nokron goes up to Sunken Leyndell; Sunken Leyndell connects down a long river to Nokstella; one elevator and a trip beyond the lake of rot leads you down as deep as we are aware, which we find an Astel and a Sellian Seal to the Church of Manus Celes.
-How does the upward-rising coffin work and why is it broken upon arrival? your coffin dive into Ainsel seems to leave it completely intact

just to clarify real quick, it's not impossible for Messmer to have been the first child of radagon/marika and also miquella and malenia
if Messmer is the Empyrean of neutrality or as i expect a representation for the law of causality, then he would equally be a product of Miquella as much as Miquella is of him. all it really does is give some credit to Miquella actually being the remainder that was left over from this splitting; all it does is beg a sort of "chicken or egg" paradox.
before we had a realistic answer to that, the answer to which of the two came first was "the universe.." but we'll have answers to those sorts of ponderings soon i'm sure

[ELDEN RING GRAND THEORY REVISION 2.1- SUBJECT TO INQUIRIES AND FURTHER REVISION]
*Ever since i started putting the narrative of the game through the lens of Alchemy, it's started to make a lot of sense to me. this will be my personal grand theory for the DLC. Basically, the world of Elden Ring is affected in every aspect by Messmer and he is talked about in a way through the game and in interviews that doesnt really allow someone to actually throw a wrench into it, thus far*-------
The Narrator in the newest trailer opens with the line, "Pure and Radiant, he wields love to shrive clean the hearts of men.. There is nothing more terrifying." and frankly every aspect of Miquella's role in the Golden Order is terrifying from his perspective. He had to pass judgement in blessing others, which alone can be enough to break someone. It is from here that we may see part of Miquella's original reason in creating the Haligtree. At some point, Miquella became St. Trina to guide followers to the Haligtree. Knowing Miquella is St. Trina, it is possible to extrapolate on Messmer's identity when applying the concepts of Alchemy and how it translates to a classical understanding of Analytical Psychology. a lot of this speculation also ties back to extensively studying the world of the game, as well as a bit of real world religion, history, and even learning to cross-reference in-game crests and murals:--
We must first establish that literally anything not understood in a binary in Elden Ring actually confounds and terrifies followers of the Golden Order. It in fact worries Corhyn so deeply that he refuses to believe Goldmask as he grovels in the ashes of the Erdtree-- One of the biggest revelations in the entire game is premised around breaking a binary that was never proven to be a binary at all. In other words, the entire Golden Order is based in dichotomies and binaries and there is a fundamental flaw in that regard; it disregards the individual and non-binary aspects of the World to force them into a simpler mold that was going to fall with time, regardless.- Much like with Gwyn's plight in Dark Souls; it was never about the people of the land with him, it was about preventing a coming age and clinging onto whatever control found in preserving the current one forever.
At the basis, St. Trina and Miquella may have shared one body but two identities because of having been born of a single-bodied Rebis, or at least as the Golden Order sees Marika/Radagon, a God. this is an ability only demonstrated by Marika that Malenia seems incapable of. I believe her bestowment from the outer god of Rot is the reason for her lack of other personal identities; she does not have any others to project other than what she is, due to societal perception of her bestowment/affliction and her choice to let miquella ascend to the role she could also be in. In the current age, all she has been doing is dreaming (note: st. trina) and awakens promptly when we arrive; likely to the only movement of air she's felt in ages
I think Miquella is the entity of purity while St. Trina is a Lunar Reflection; the Albedo, or an Animus in Jungian Psychology, which has heavy ties to alchemy. She's the hero and protector of the people thar Miquella often envisions within. Messmer, residing in the shadow realm, represents a deep seated truth within Miquella- a sort of "Cognitive Rubedo" if you will, or a "Truth in the Mind" that he hates as much as others fear, and that nobody wants to be found. part of this truth must be Marika's fault, and it has left Miquella with a personal guilt that has torn at him so badly that eventually, a Shadow of himself tore away and became its own monster from Within.
Imagine it like this; if St. Trina is Miquella's image of theirself as a blessed, pure caretaker and a sort of christ-like figure, then Messmer is the part of him that represents "The Sins of The Father." Marika's own rise to power and established order themselves are what shaped a young Miquella. It was with time and between his noted brilliance and ability to "compel affection," that he found a way to break free of his fated identity which meant breaking free of the Order itself.
Applying the Realm of Shadows to this "Within," having been physically separated from the lands between by Marika's own mischievous deeds, it is likely that the shadow realm now acts as a cognitive realm of Marika's, of sorts, which could absolutely contain the perception or persona of another person within it. (think Mementos from Persona 5, lol)
So.. Without the current Elden Ring there would be no Order, but the current Order hides a serpent at the central intersection, which seems to represent Messmer. this is the same concept as how a pentagram represents a human, and humanity, while being inverted it represents a goat, or in many cases, Baphomet. Baphomet is labeled as half-human, half-animal, male and female, good and evil.. he is referred to as a man but is essentially every binary and every dichotomy that arises from them. He is even seen as both a deity and a demon. I believe Miquella and Radagon's work on discovering the Law of Causality is the main hint toward Messmer's presence, which ties into the rest of the alchemy involved. He is a pagan cult deity who represents balance and neutrality, and is almost always depicted doing a gesture signifying "as above; so below" which is a condensed version of the Law of Causality, already known to be associated with Miquella and Radagon, well before the Shattering; "Causality is an influence by which one event, process, state, or object contributes to the production of another event, process, state, or object where the cause is partly responsible for the effect, and the effect is partly dependent on the cause."
For clarity's sake, because i figure i'll be asked if not addressed: It's not impossible for Messmer and Miquella+Malenia to have all been the first child of Radagon/Marika with this Theory. Malenia was a twin born at the same time as Miquella, so she would be a first child with Miquella. If Messmer is a diety representing neutrality or, as I expect, a product of the Law of Causality, then he would be a product of Miquella as much as Miquella is of him. this idea lends to the possibility of Miquella actually being the remainder that was left over from a splitting where Messmer's counterparts (possibly both Miquella and Malenia, given their twin nature) are representative of his own aspects.. it does is beg a sort of "chicken or egg" paradox, but before we had a realistic answer to that, many would reply- and almost sarcastically, if not for the fact that it was the best answer we had- that the first thing to appear was "the Universe." The modern answer is, in fact, that the egg came first. (whether any of this analogy alludes to the actual lore or not is something i think we'd just have to wait for the expansion to know)
Marika herself had this Shadow hidden away, and this presents rather well because we know that there was a long period of time after the Night of Black Knives that Marika was still active but becoming more distraught, preceding the Shattering. on top of this, more proof resides in that, within Jungian psychology, it is that one's Anima/Animus comes to them in dreams, much like St. Trina came to people in theirs (who, as an Animus herself, was probably motivated by helping malenia look for her Anima, which perhaps never existed). It is also true that a Shadow Persona is borne of conflict tearing at one's conscious until it becomes its own entity, which i've already presumed of Messmer above.

Cult Lord Bardier:
Tumblr media
A Lord mostly of his own and with only a handful of proclaimed followers, his only goal is to figure a way to fuse every material in the Lands Between. When tempted by Shabriri, offering a flame that would return all to The One Great, it gave Bardier pause as he would've just walked past, heeding no mind.
Rather, instead, he abruptly turned, plunged his lance into the ice and-- using it as a makeshift pole to keep his balance-- got himself into an awkward sort of lean-squat, to try and peer at the eerily familiar man who'd covered his face beneath his hands, assisted in part by his large metal hat. As his head pitched about to get a good angle, he caught a glint of Shabriri's smoldering eyes. Shabriri, shifting about, evidently in vain to keep his eyes concealed, eventually conceded to the perceived oddity and turned his back to him.
Bardier pulled himself up and forward by his lance, bending it slightly from the bluntly inefficient way he propped himself into standing. He punched his wrist a few times and a hissing came from his fingertips. Upon scraping the hissing fingers across his chin, flicking them past the mandibles of his helm, they burst into what could only be called an impressively controlled inferno.
Shabriri's back turned, Bardier turned his back to Shabriri's;
"Do i know you?" He posited earnestly, but perhaps too quietly while wafting jets of flame over his lance. He only acknowledged his speaking volume as he slowly paced off--
"Anyroad, I do not think we travel toward similar ends. I will figure it out on my own."
He walked off and did anything but acknowledge Shabriri from then, who had turned once more, projecting just loud enough for the near-exeunt Bardier to have heard, that is if he was attending to the matter any longer..
"Be on your way, then. Perhaps we will meet again, if fate permits."
