I headcanon that Rarity has no experience dating mares, only having gone out with stallions before. She has always been someone to take the initiative in her m/f relationships but since her newfound feelings for Applejack she would overthink everything because it’s so unfamiliar to her. Luckily Applejack is there to guide her through it and soon realize it’s the most natural thing in the world.

The concept of ‘Cold Construction’ does exist in this Human!AU and what is it is lab kids. Lots and lots of lab kids.. Part of it is due to a lower birth rate as a side effect of some generations of genetic tinkering way back, which is absolutely not what multiple governments hellbent on rebuilding and safeguarding their borders from further threats want, so they turn to something pretty controversial to boost their workforce. 

So depending on what they need in each class, they’ll produce what numbers can’t be naturally made and it becomes especially prevalent in the manual labor/mining community where childcare is a luxury they won’t afford the working class and the mortality rate tends to be high so they need new blood in the system and they need it by any means possible. It’s prevalent enough that these magically-appearing ‘abandoned’/‘orphanage’ kids are raised communally in these communities who’re instructed to teach them the trade from the time they’re old enough to hold tools.

The song at the start I sort of see as a common lullaby/lament for the working communities who accept these children as their own, because the biggest fear is that if they don’t conform or don’t perform up to standard during census checks, these kids who are definitely seen as government property given their background will be taken to Institutes to ‘re-educate’ them, and these communities try to make sure that doesn’t  happens because they either don’t return or come back with Shadowplay  lost memories and next to no semblance of their old selves. 

Morgan/Megatron was lucky to have been assigned to a community that while mired in poverty and brutal back-breaking labor genuinely loved him and he very much loved them back, which is why he’s so dead-passionate about fighting for their rights. They’re family.  Terminus gave him his name from the first day he was there. 

Preston/Prowl was not quite as fortunate, growing up from day one in a Spartan youth academy and raised to see everyone not his superiors as a rival. He kept his registration number as his ‘name’ and was only given a proper one when he ‘graduated’ to a proper police academy.

Preston Wan, codename ‘Prowl’.  To say I like Prowl wouldn’t be correct but I do find his characterization in IDW to be absolutely fascinating even if he is prime ACAB material at times.  I love what a background schemer he is, except in a coldly pragmatic way as opposed to mostly benefiting himself like, say, Starscream.

He’s an asshole, but an asshole with a purpose who honestly believes he’s doing what it takes, what no one else has the guts to do, to win what has over four million years become a war of attrition, and the original sense of duty he had while back on Cybertron seems to have become warped to a burning desire to win at all cost, ostensibly to make everything they’ve gone through worth something.  If not, what was the point of all of this? Which makes his absolute frothing rage at the mere notion of Megatron possibly escaping what he sees as hard justice somewhat understandable——he doesn’t care who Megatron has become, he doesn’t care if Megatron repented and saved a billion lives in some other universe. What he cares about is that someone needs to fucking answer for the millions lost here, and with a large section of the remaining Cybertronian society (NAILs and Autobots specifically) very likely agreeing with him, the new system must be shown to work.  More so, he does make a decent argument that this war might have been won a long time ago had the Autobots been a less splintered, unfocused faction compared to, surprisingly, the much more organized Decepticons who he seems to genuinely respect even as an enemy for what he sees as having their collective shit together. Mostly. 

Like Prowl himself, Preston has a controversial ‘constructed cold’ background, in this case as a government-commissioned made-to-order child (one of a secret many) who was specifically raised to be a cop in a city that had a powerful class-based caste system. This has definitely left its mark in him, and he struggles at times trying to figure out which parts of him are him and which parts of him were specifically tailored to fit this role. He’s also trying to undo decades of government propaganda gangpressed into him which do not fit the Autobot code, but it’s got a much stronger hold in him that he’d like to admit.

I had a ton of fun figuring out his armor! His flip-up ‘door wings’ shoot a variety of projectiles now, usually deployed in a situation with multiple enemies which he likes to refer to as ‘crowd control’.
