This Bad Feeling Soup is coming up because I failed to make a smoothie (first time trying to do so) and he decided to bark instructions from the other room about adding milk when I had already done that and already said I would add more. 'You know these things need liquid in them' FUCK YOU, way to make me never want to step foot in the kitchen again.

I feel so dumb for feeling like this over a fucking smoothie, honestly. I'm supposed to be an adult.

Okay I did the thing! It's super basic but it's not meant to be a Big Server anyway, the different channels are mostly for if anyone is like super disinterested in a particular discussion topic and wants to avoid it sorta thing.

Like I didn't even set up a rules post or anything, y'all know how to behave on a chat server.

tbh I have always absolutely loved Wybie as a character, because he's a very clear and obvious example of how adaptational changes to fit the medium you're adapting into are good.

The best adaptation isn't the most pure, to-the-letter re-reading of the book. If someone wants that then they can read the book. The best adaptations... adapt.

People better at literary analysis than me have talked about this but eventually I might to an essay/video essay about it, idk. But if I do then I'm 100% using Wybie as an example because (unlike some examples) there's a very clear cause and effect there. And, based on the amount of people that had no idea he was an addition, he fit smoothly into the world making him a success of adaptation.

i’ve been reflecting a lot on the media that shaped me as a child and lingers with me as an adult. i recently read that the character Wybie in Coraline was an original addition to the film. why was giving Coraline someone to talk with was so important?

Just so y’all know: I can’t speak for every other fic author but I can say that I remember when people leave me kind comments. I recognize your urls and/or usernames on AO3. I remember you and sometimes in writing my fics I think to myself, “Oh, I hope this person sees this because they liked x in this other fic I did.”

Not only that—I go back and reread comments when I’m feeling low. I look at tags and reblogs and asks and wish I could hold them in my hand like a note from a friend on an old, torn piece of notebook paper.

Your comments have so much more impact than you know. So thanks to those who use the comment section to spread love and encouragement. We appreciate you.
