(I think I’ll need to keep this short, but I swear i have so many of them, jesus)

Eijun singing cheesy love songs while running since he began dating Miyuki and raising his voice so fuckin high when passing near the bullpen where Miyuki is catching for Furuya, making him a blushing mess;

Miyuki pinching Eijun’s buttcheek while he’s focusing on his pitching position during training making him jump;

In the meantime, Miyuki has no idea his butt is being shared with Kuramochi who can’t even look him in the eyes for an hour after Eijun sent him a pic;

Eijun always being the sad drunk and Kazuya comforting him until he enters the noisy drunk phase;

Eijun crying and gross sobbing with his head in Miyuki’s lap the night he gains his ace number, while Kazuya gently strokes his head with trembling hands, tears down his face because he’s so fuckin happy, Eijun is happy, they are so fuckin happy and IN LOVE AND I SWEAR TO GOD THEY’RE GONNA WIN KOUSHIEN;

It's unhinged to assume that someone's taste in fiction equates to what they believe is moral or good, or is something they want to see or experience in real life.

That is a bonkers assumption to make.

I'm tired of humoring people with long arguments about it when the simple fact is it is a totally fucking absurd reach to accuse someone who enjoys something in fiction of being in favor of it in real life.

I'm tired of pretending like this is a legitimate position to hold-- that they should be afraid of fiction's dire influence on a reader's moral decay or that it's a sign of what the author secretly wants for realsies in real life.

I had the suspicion at first that the art was ai, but as it wasn’t tagged as such, I dismissed that thought.

what’s really awful about this is how very delusional they are about the whole situation, and how they still insist to continue posting ai artwork without properly tagging, and then act like they are completely in the right, and have the audacity to call it ‘unfair’ when other people call them out on it.

no one said you can’t post ai, just tag it properly so it doesn’t seem like you created this art out completely out of your own merit and hard work, when in fact, you did not. it’s very misleading.

Hey everyone!

I’m making this post because I feel the need to call out something that has angered and saddened me quite a bit these past few days. I feel the need to call out this account https://www.tumblr.com/enigmaf009 which has been posting tomarry “content”, particularly “art” and ASMR videos using what is obviously AI. 

Now, I’m well aware that I can’t forbid people from messing around with AI (though I certainly wish I could). In my opinion, in the vast majority of cases, AI is an EXTREMELY HARMFUL tool. It is a FACT that not only it causes financial strain on REAL artists by taking away jobs from them (and creating something of very subpar quality) but also demoralizes said artists, who may feel like their talent and hard work is meaningless.

But one thing I can do is to ask people to TAG their posts properly.

I’m personally a big fan of being able to curate my online experience. Sometimes that takes the form of blocking certain tags and words that I don’t want to see on my TL. Some of those tags are AI related, in my case. I don’t want to see subpar STOLEN “art” on my TL and I should be able to filter it out. Not tagging AI “art” as such is very disingenuous. I’m not an artist but I’ve, unfortunately, been exposed to enough AI “content” to be able to identify it at a glance. Though I’m aware that some people can’t do the same and will believe that this “artist” has any actual talent and worked hard on their projects, which they DID NOT. This person in particular is being praised for being talented and their “art” is being called beautiful and that, honestly, makes me a bit sick. 

I left a comment on one of their posts asking them directly if it was AI generated in any way. I never got a response though I’m 99.9% sure they saw it, as they have posted more ever since. So they either ignored it in the hopes that I’d forget and say nothing more or they are deliberately ignoring it because they simply don’t care about how much harm they’re doing. I feel that if the content wasn’t indeed AI they would have no issues in saying so and it would be easy to provide proof.

As for the ASMR videos they also post, I hope I don’t need to explain how potentially harmful that can be for anyone. They are using the voices from the HP movie actors and making them roleplay a certain script. So far that seems innocuous but imagine that tool being used to make actors, public figures or an everyday person say something, in THEIR OWN VOICE that could cost them so much. Making them say, for example, they support a terrorist organization or making them say something racist or homophobic. Things that may cost people their livelihood and reputation if it can’t be proven it’s AI generated. I’m NOT saying this person would do any of these things, but the tool exists and others will certainly take advantage of it in this horrible way. I obviously don’t know the legalities or ways to disprove things like this but the sheer emotional distress it can generate is enough for me to believe it’s a very morally wrong tool to use. 

I’m going to make it very clear that AI “art” is THEFT. This is not a matter of opinion to me. It is feeding the AI tool without permission from the artists. At this moment AI generated “content” is very unregulated and I’m hoping that’ll change soon in a positive way, prioritizing artists’ rights and opinions.

Like I said, I can identify AI posts at this point just by “vibes” alone but I also asked the opinion from an artist who actually pointed out typical AI mistakes and artifacts to give some backing to this “feeling” I had. Thank you @itsevanffs for your help in this, I actually learned a lot!

Needless to say that, even to someone as uneducated in art as myself, It really does look like AI. And like I said before, I cannot stop this person from generating these images but I’m ASKING FOR IT TO BE TAGGED PROPERLY. 

So, please @enigmaf009, I’m asking, BEGGING you to please tag your old and future posts as AI.

This post is not meant to cause drama or send people to attack, block, report (etc) this person. It’s a call out and a warning so that people can be aware of the dargers and hurt AI may cause (that is ALREADY causing) to so many people, mainly artists. Hopefully some people will also be more educated so they can identify AI more easily and stop reblogging and disseminating this type of content, if they wish to do so (I’m absolutely sure some people were liking and reblogging the posts only because they might not have been aware it was AI).

As for@enigmaf009, keep doing your thing. But I hope you are very aware of the harm you are potentially causing by propagating these practices.

I talked to many people about this situation and it was the overall opinion that this situation should be called out. Thank you everyone who shared the same opinions as me and supported me in making this post, as I was very reticent since I do not wish to cause any hurt or drama. 

In the slim chance I’m wrong about those posts being AI generated (which I’m very sure they are) please feel free to educate me and call me out, showing how I might be wrong.

Please be kind to one another. Don’t send hate and don’t harass people. Support the REAL artists you love in any way you can, be it by reblogging (NOT REPOSTING) their art, leaving supportive and loving comments or commissioning them, if they offer this service and you want to do so / are able to afford it.

Fanfiction Authors: HEADS UP

An astute reader informed me this morning that one of my fics (Children of the Future Age) had been pirated and was being sold as a novel on Amazon:

(And they weren't even creative with their cover design. If you're going to pirate something that I spent a full year of my life writing, at least give me a pretty screenshot to brag about later. Seriously.)

I promptly filed a DMCA complaint to have it removed, but I checked out the company that put it up -- Plush Books -- and it looks like A LOT of their books are pirated fic. They are by no means the only ones doing this, either -- the fact that """publishers""" can download stories from AO3 in ebook format and then reupload them to Amazon in just a few clicks makes fic piracy a common problem. There are a whole host of reasons why letting this continue is bad -- including actual legal risk to fanfiction archives -- but basically:

IF YOU ARE A FANFIC AUTHOR WITH LONG AND/OR POPULAR WORKS, PLEASE CHECK AMAZON TO SEE IF YOUR STORIES HAVE BEEN PIRATED.

You can search for your fics by title, or by text from the description (which is often just copied wholesale from AO3 as well). If you find that someone has stolen your work and is selling it as their own, you can lodge a DMCA complaint (Amazon.com/USA site; other countries have different systems). If you haven't done this before, it's easy! Here's a tutorial:

HOW TO FILE A COPYRIGHT COMPLAINT FOR STOLEN WORK ON AMAZON.COM:

First, go to this form. You'll need to be signed into your Amazon account.

Select the radio buttons/dropdown options (shown below) to indicate that you are the legal Rights Owner, you have a copyright concern, and it is about a pirated product.

Enter the name of your story in the Name of Brand field.

In the Link to the Copyrighted Work box, enter a link to the story on AO3 or whatever site your work is posted on.

In the Additional Information box, explain that you are the author of the work and it is being sold without your permission. That's all you really need. If you want, you can include additional information that might be helpful in establishing the validity of your claim, but you don't have to go into great detail. You can simply write something like this:

I am the author of this work, which is being sold by [publisher] without my permission.
