hey. i know its been a while. i just wanted to jump on here as my midterms are finishing and my love for writing is coming back. i hope to many of you i have made clear my pro-palestine stance, but for those of you who i haven't, i guess this is your formal warning.
i love and appreciate this fandom and all the wonderful people it has brought into my life, but i cannot and will not ignore that The Last of Us is born out of an incredibly HEINOUS evil. by now everyone should know the zionist intentions behind TLOU and Druckmann, and how many of the original voice cast and TV cast support these views. I think it's especially important for writers who love and enjoy TLOU characters to use our platforms to speak out and understand our own role in the fandom and the promotion of the franchise. i hope my mutuals who refuse to speak out and use their platforms for change know how coarsely i judge you, look down on you, and how much blood you have on your hands.
this isnt my farewell to the tlou fandom by any means, but im tired. i will not let anyone who follows me or is mutuals with me ignore this genocide or turn a blind eye to the suffering of a whole people.
if you love this fandom, like i do, shape it into a force for change, not fucking complacency.

Underneath the Tree
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: brother’s best friend!ellie williams x reader
Summary: you’re happy to be back in your hometown for christmas break, but that changes when an unexpected guest shows up at your house.
Author’s note: let’s pretend i posted this on time lmao anyways here’s some fluffy cliché and christmassy ellie content <3
• • • •
christmas had always been your favorite holiday. you loved everything about it; the food, buying presents, the decorations, the movies and every single tradition, but most importantly, the joy of it all and the coziness that time of year radiated.
you and your brother had just arrived home from college, so all you wanted to do was relax for a bit. you plopped down on one of the couches, letting out a big sigh.
“hey, i wanted to tell you that i invited a friend over to spend christmas with us,” your brother told you out of nowhere.
you frowned, confused, “oh, who?”
“her family went to visit one of her aunts, the one she hates, so i invited her here. mom and dad already know.”
“who is it?” you asked again.
“well—”
knock, knock.
you didn’t miss the weird glance he shot you before he went to open the door. you stayed on the couch, trying to heighten your hearing to figure out who it was.
the intrigued expression in your face morphed into a surprised one when you recognize the person’s voice. it belonged to none other than ellie williams, your brother’s best friend.
they met in orientation and immediately hit it off, yet you had never liked her. not when your brother first introduced you to her, not after the countless times she had been over at your apartment and certainly not now that she had crashed your favorite holiday.
she always found a way to mess with you, either by teasing you or doing stuff like using your favorite mug whenever she was over at your apartment or borrowing your hoodies without asking.
she really got on your nerves, and now she was at your house. you would’ve never imagined her standing in your living room and talking to your parents, but there she was.
you glanced up at her the moment her eyes fell on you, her characteristic cocky grin already making an appearance.
“hey.”
you just sent her a smile, one that only a blind person wouldn’t be able to tell was fake. after a short chit-chat, your parents left the room followed by your brother, who mouthed ‘be nice’ before leaving.
“happy to see me?” ellie asked once she checked you were alone.
“the happiest,” you replied, sarcasm violently dripping from your words.
ellie suppressed a laugh, clearly amused by how much her presence bothered you. “i promise you won’t even notice i’m here.”
you scoffed, “yeah, right,” you muttered before getting up from the couch and walking past her. “don’t go in my room,” you warned her before leaving her alone on the living room.
“you’re not gonna show me around?” she asked, raising her voice a little.
you heard her snicker and it was almost impossible for you not roll your eyes at the sound. fuming, you went to the kitchen in search of your brother.
“thanks for the warning, dumbass,” you scowled at him. he knew how you felt about ellie, but he didn’t care in the slightest.
he laughed, stuffing his mouth with multiple cookies. “you weren’t going to let me invite her if i told you.”
“exactly!”
“get over it. she’s cool, you’d like her if you actually gave her a chance.”
you huffed, “whatever.”
after that, you went to your room. you put on your favorite christmas playlist as you unpacked, but you were far too distracted to actually listen to the songs.
you wouldn’t go as far as calling ellie your enemy, but she was close to that. you just couldn’t stand her, that was why whenever she visited your brother at your apartment you stayed in your room or left, not wanting to be the victim of her constant teasing.
suddenly, the door swung open. your head shot up, alarmed. ellie was staring back at you just as surprised as you were.
“what are you doing?” you asked, annoyed.
“oh, i thought this was the guest room.”
“that’s the guest room,” you pointed to the door right across yours. “now, if you’ll excuse me—”
“you should come downstairs, i’m about to bake cookies.”
a laugh escaped your lips as you grabbed your phone to pause the music. “you are making cookies?”
ellie leaned on the doorframe, a small smile forming on her lips, “yeah, why?”
“you don’t seem like the type, that’s all.”
“yeah, well, i’m full of surprises. you’ll see.”
with that, she left. you stared at where she had been standing a second ago, completely unaware of the goofy smile on your lips. you went back to your task, too caught up in your mind to realize you hadn’t pressed play on the music.
a while later, you finished unpacking and straightening up your room in the process. the smell of freshly baked cookies made you practically float to the kitchen and you could almost hear them calling your name. trying your best to not make a sound, you stood on your tiptoes and went to grab one.
“those are for later,” ellie’s voice came out of nowhere, startling you for the second time of the day.
you immediately turned around, narrowing your eyes at her, “this is my house.”
“and those are my cookies,” she retorted, crossing her arms beneath her chest. “but fine, you can grab one.”
“just like that?”
“do you want to fight a duel over it or something?”
you rolled your eyes, reaching over to grab one of the cookies. you chose the one with the candy cane shape and took a bite just as you walked past her.
god, that’s good.
“how is it?” ellie asked, following you closely behind.
“there’s no way you made this,” you said before sitting down on the big couch.
“i did!”
“i’ll ask my mom.”
“fine, she made them. i only passed her the ingredients,” ellie admitted, rolling her eyes. she sat down next to you and watched as you turned on the tv. “what are we watching?”
“well, i was going to watch home alone.”
“cool, let’s.”
“only if you keep quiet.”
ellie layed back on the couch, nodding at your words, “i promise.”
surprisingly, she kept her word and didn’t utter a sound, but you were still fully aware of her company. ellie didn’t miss the quick glances you shot at her from time to time.
“what?” she asked, turning her head to you.
“huh?”
“you’re looking at me.”
“no, i’m not,” you furrowed your eyebrows and looked back at the tv, but you could still feel ellie’s stare on you. with a sigh, you gazed back at her. “are you going to watch the movie or not?”
“i could ask you the same thing,” ellie replied, eyes sparkling with amusement.
you looked away from her, “shut up.”
ellie just chuckled lightly at you, choosing not say anything else and pay attention to the movie. she didn’t tear her eyes away from the screen until forty minutes later, when a weight on her shoulder distracted her. confused, she looked to the side.
it surprised her to see you had fallen asleep on her. you were softly snoring away, looking as peaceful as she had ever seen you. it was the first time you were that close to her and she couldn’t help but think how horrified you’d be if you knew what you were doing.
ellie watched what was left of the movie sitting impossibly still, trying not to wake you up. once the credits rolled in, she catiously moved you off of her and left you in a comfortable position before standing up.
she watched what was left of the movie impossibly still on her spot, trying not to wake you up. once it ended, she catiously moved you off of her and left you in a comfortable position before standing up.
you woke up a while later, wrapped in a warm blanket that wasn’t there before. you were completely disoriented, not knowing where you were or what had happened when it suddenly hit you.
you sat up straight on the couch, looking around and seeing the tv turned off.
“god,” you whispered as you hid your face in your hands, embarrassed.
“go wake your sister up and tell her dinner’s ready,” you heard your mother say from the dining room.
“i’m up!” you shouted back, mentally preparing yourself to face ellie again.
everyone was already sitting at the table, looking at you with amused smiles.
“you should’ve woken me up sooner,” you groggily complained, taking a seat next to ellie.
“but you looked so adorable,” ellie said to you, leaning closer so only you could hear.
you weren’t a violent person, but all you wanted to do in that moment was to punch that stupid grin off her face.
“i’m not in the mood for jokes, ellie,” you glared at her before setting your gaze on your plate.
“who said i was joking?”
you looked back at her, but she had already engaged in another conversation with your brother.
you and ellie didn’t exchange any more words, but you got to know her a little bit better due to the million questions your parents asked her. you learned that she was actually not that bad and you certainly liked her better when she wasn’t constantly teasing you.
even though you had taken a nap, you were still incredibly tired so you went to your room after helping cleaning up. once you slipped into your favorite pajamas you were ready to sleep, but a knock on your door interrupted you.
you didn’t expect to see ellie standing on the other side.
“uh, something wrong?”
ellie shook her head, “no, we’re just about to watch a movie and i though i’d let you know in case you wanted to watch it with us.”
“oh, thanks, but i’m really tired so…”
“you’re going to sleep already? do you need me to lend you my shoulder again?”
the polite smile you had instantly disappeared and an annoyed expression taking took over your features at her taunting.
“goodnight,” you closed the door on her face, but that didn’t stop the sound of her laughter from reaching your ears.
you woke up the following morning with the sound of your family chattering downstairs, with the addition of ellie’s voice. you could’ve sworn she said your name but, having just woken up, you told yourself you had probably heard wrong.
ellie was enjoying her breakfast when she heard noises upstairs and, as a reflex, she looked up. your brother noticed, so he sent her an inquisitive look.
“what?” he asked her.
“i heard noises, i think she’s up.”
“yeah, i know. you just seem very aware of whatever my sister does,” he pointed out before taking a sip of his coffee.
“i’m just a very observant person, that’s all.”
“you, observant? you’re zoned out every time i try talk to you,” he said incredulously.
“that’s on purpose, i just don’t wanna talk to you.”
their little quarrel stopped once they saw you come in, staying suspiciously quiet. you narrowed your eyes at them as you sat down, their eyes following you.
“what?” you glanced at them.
“nothing,” ellie replied as she took a sip of her hot chocolate.
“hey, can you pass me the—” you suddenly went quiet when you noticed something that snapped the sleepiness out of you. “that’s my mug!”
ellie froze on her spot just as she was about take another sip, “uh…”
“let her use it, she’s a guest!” your mother told you. “she probably didn’t know it was yours when she grabbed it.”
“but she always does this—”
“she’s a guest,” your mother repeated.
you scoffed as your eyes fell on the girl in front of you. as expected, she was completely amused by the situation.
“i’m a guest,” ellie pronounced the words with that mocking tone that drove you crazy.
“you’re really annoying, you know that?”
your brother silently watched the scene unfold in front him. he noticed the way you were trying to hide a smile and how ellie was unable to do so. there was a huge grin on his friend face, one that only seemed to appear whenever you were around.
that was actually the first thing that made him pay more attention to your relationship’s dynamic. ellie became another version of herself with you, one that was unusually smiley and much more of a tease than she normally was.
“next time i’ll go to your house to use your favorite mug.”
“i don’t have a favorite mug.”
your family listened closely to your bickering, laughing to themselves as you and ellie kept fighting. you were like that for the rest of the day, making fun of each other and engaging in harmless and playful arguments.
that afternoon you decided to make gingerbread houses, but it soon turned into a deadly competition in which only you and ellie were participants.
it all started when ellie mocked the christmas traditions you loved so much, calling them dumb. you challenged her by saying she only thought that way because she wouldn’t be good at them. your words brought up ellie’s competitive side, so she bet that her gingerbread house would kick yours’ ass.
“oh, you’re going down,” the evil chuckle the came out of you would’ve made her laugh in another situation, but ellie was too focused on winning.
much to your dismay, ellie was weirdly artistic and, apparently, good at everything. her house ended up being much better than yours, so you had to listen to her bragging about it for what was left of the day.
christmas was getting closer and closer and, to your surprise, having ellie there wasn’t as bad as you thought it would be. in fact, you actually enjoyed having her around.
she was nicer than you would’ve imagined, really funny and had many different interests, which were fun to learn about when they were explained by her. you still found her slightly annoying since her habit of making fun of you never went away, but you were definitely getting used to it.
“you’re heading out?”
you looked up at the sound of ellie’s voice. “yeah, christmas shopping,” you replied as you wrapped a big scarf around your neck.
“oh, cool. i’m coming with you.”
you let out a small laugh, “no, you’re not.”
“i have to buy presents for the kind family who let me spend christmas with them, that includes you, the kindest of them all.”
you rolled your eyes at her evident sarcasm, “why don’t you go with my brother?”
“i need your help on what to get him,” ellie tried to convince you, but you were still hesitant. suddenly, an idea came to her mind. “c’mon, where’s the christmas spirit?”
christmas spirit.
using that card on you was low, it was obvious you wouldn’t resist.
you let out a sigh, but immediately gave in, “fine, let’s go.”
“you’re so easy to convince.”
“don’t make me regret it.”
the drive to the mall consisted in you singing whatever song came on the radio and ellie looking at you through the corner of her eye while staying strangely quiet. she hadn’t even tried to make fun of you, not even once.
“what should i get your parents?”
“you don’t have to get them anything, ellie, really.”
the mall was packed with people doing last minute christmas shopping, but you couldn’t exactly complain considering you were doing the exact same thing.
ellie followed you closely, “if you don’t help me i’ll buy them whatever crap i see first.”
“okay, do that.”
ellie groaned, “oh, c’mon.”
she kept struggling to find a way to convince you, completely oblivious to the smile you had on your lips. you had decided to help her from the beginning, but seeing her in distress was very entertaining for you.
you wandered around for a while, going into every possible store. you bought presents for everyone, except for the girl beside you.
“stay here, i have to do something,” you told her.
“really? what’s that?”
“it’s private.”
ellie hummed, “how private?”
“what?”
“why can’t i go with you?” she questioned.
“because you can’t.”
“wait, are you going to buy me a present?”
you huffed, “no.”
“you don’t have to lie.” ellie leaned in closer to you, “i know santa isn’t real,” she whispered.
you pushed her away from you as she laughed. you began walking away, ellie hurriedly catching up to you.
“what are you going to get me?”
“nothing if you keep being a pain in the ass,” you dryly replied.
“fine, go. i guess i’ll just wait here,” she pointed to an empty bench. “don’t be long.”
“don’t tell me what to do.”
ellie watched you leave with a smile plastered on her face. she sighed, laying back on the bench as she impatiently waited for you to be back. she had already picked up a present for you in one of the many stores you visited. she didn’t know how she managed to pull it off, but she was insanely proud of herself. it was difficult for you not to notice something, you had eyes everywhere.
after what seemed an eternity for ellie, you went back to find her. you almost laughed at how tired she looked, maybe christmas shopping wasn’t as fun for others as it was for you.
“bored?” you asked, amused.
“i think i actually fell asleep at one point.”
“i’m sorry,” you chuckled. “but we’re done! let’s go.”
ellie laughed softly at the amount of energy you still had in you. she felt completely exhausted. shopping was one of the things she disliked the most, especially during the holidays. still, she had fun.
maybe she didn’t hate shopping as much as she thought, or maybe your company would make her enjoy literally anything.
“wait,” ellie grabbed your arm and pulled you down, making you sit next to her. “aren’t you tired?”
“not really,” you shrugged your shoulders. “but we can rest for a bit if you want.”
“great,” she replied, crossing her arms and laying back on the bench again.
you copied her action, looking around the mall and paying extra attention to the lovely christmas decorations. you threw your head back, noticing something hanging above you.
mistletoe.
your eyes widened as you sat up straight, catching ellie’s attention. she turned her head to you, furrowing her eyebrows.
“you okay there?”
“uh, yeah. why?”
“you’re looking a little tense, that’s all.”
“i’m not tense, i’m just cold.” you made the mistake of shooting a quick glance at the mistletoe. ellie noticed, of course.
she tried her best to suppress a smile, but she failed miserably, “ah, i see.”
the way she looked at you caused a strange flutter in your stomach, which made you shift uncomfortably in your place.
“i’m not kissing you, ellie.”
“why not?”
her almost immediate question took you by surprise, “what do you mean why not?”
“i mean, why not?”
“i don’t know. you’re you.”
“yeah, and you’re you. you love christmas traditions.”
“you don’t. you said they were dumb.”
“yeah, but i’m not, like, totally opposed to them.”
you stayed quiet, staring into those green eyes of hers. your gaze wandered down to her lips and it lingered there for a moment before something else caught your attention.
“you have freckles,” you pointed out.
her eyes darted from your lips to your eyes, “you didn’t know?”
“this is the closest i’ve ever been to you.”
ellie’s mouth curved into a smile, wanting you to be even closer. she noticed the way your eyes were back on her lips, so she took it as a sign that you wanted it just as much as her.
it felt impossible for you to look away, you were completely enthralled by her. there was something pulling you closer to her, you couldn’t control it.
“for christmas’ sake, y’know?”
“you can’t keep using christmas as a way to manipulate me,” you whispered.
ellie took the initiative and leaned in first. you instantly closed your eyes at the contact, eyebrows slightly burrowed as you melted into the soft, slow kiss. it didn’t last long, but the sensation stayed with you after pulling away.
“um…” was all that you could say, eyes a bit widened.
ellie sent you a nervous smile, “you gotta respect christmas traditions, right?”
“right.”
on the drive back home the tension was palpable, but neither of you dared to mention the kiss again and acted as if nothing had happened. you certainly wouldn’t be the one to bring it up, so you tried your best to forget about it and trick your own mind into thinking it had been just an hallucination.
on the other hand, ellie couldn’t and wouldn’t stop replying the moment in her head. she wasn’t exactly sure if she had done the right thing, but she knew she didn’t regret it. not one thought crossed her mind in that moment, she didn’t think about what would happen next or what would your brother do if he found out. she went for it because that was what she had been wanting to do for a while.
on christmas morning, the house was dead quiet. everyone was still asleep, except for you and ellie. after making yourselves more presentable, you stepped out on the hallway at the same time. you almost gasped when you opened the door and ellie was right across from you, there was a similar expression on her face.
things had been awkward between you two. you didn’t ignore each other, but you didn’t talk as much as before. she had stopped making fun of you and you treated her more politely than you had ever done.
“good morning,” you softly said.
“hey,” she greeted with a half smile. “merry christmas.”
your eyebrows rose a little when you realized you had forgotten what day it was.
“right, merry christmas,” you grinned, fiddling with your fingers. “do you want to have breakfast?”
“sure, yeah.”
you both went downstairs and walked towards the kitchen, but ellie stopped by the living room. you turned around and watched her go to the christmas tree. she looked back at you, pointing at the wall where five christmas stockings were hung up. next to the one with your initial, there was one with an embroidered letter ‘E’.
“you bought me a stocking.”
“how’d you know it was me?”
ellie tilted her head to the side, “seriously? you’re like christmas personified.”
her compliment earned a soft giggle from you. you missed the adoring look she gave you when you looked down. it was hard to make you shy, which is why ellie felt over the moon when she accomplished it.
“thank you,” ellie gave a sincere smile, which faltered a little once she saw you trying to avoid eye contact. it had been that way ever since the kiss happened and it was driving her crazy.
“you’re welcome,” you grinned, looking into her eyes.
oh, ellie wasn’t ready for that. she felt her heart rate pathetically increase and she tried her best to look unaffected.
“we’re okay, right?” she awkwardly asked you.
“yes, why wouldn’t we be?”
“it’s just… it’s been kind of weird since, y’know, the kiss. i’m sorry if it bothered you, we can just forget it happened—”
iin that moment, the sound of your brother coming downstairs stopped you. you sent her an apologetic look before he barged in, loud as he always was.
“you didn’t open any presents yet, did you?” your brother asked you, narrowing his eyes at you.
“uh, no. we— we were waiting for you, guys,” you said just as your parents appeared.
you watched your family open their presents and tell you to open yours, but you were too busy thinking about your previous conversation with ellie. you glanced at her, hoping she would be already looking at you, but she wasn’t.
with a sigh, you grabbed a box from underneath the tree, one that had ellie’s name on it. you walked over to her and took her by her hand before discreetly dragging her out of the room.
“i’m sorry i’ve been acting weird, i guess i just— well, i—” you struggled to put together an actual sentence under ellie’s stare. she tilted her head to the side, waiting for you to continue. “god, don’t look at me like that.”
“why? do i make you nervous?” she taunted, a teasing grin spreading over her lips.
“ellie,” you complained, throwing your head back.
she laughed, “i’m sorry, i’m sorry.”
“dumbass,” you muttered, frowning. “what i’m trying to say is, i’m sorry. i should’ve been more upfront.”
“more upfront with what, exactly?”
“with how i feel.”
ellie’s breath hitched in her throat, “and how do you feel?”
“i like you.”
“you do?”
“yeah,” you gave her a smile. “unless you don’t like me back, then i don’t.”
ellie chuckled lightly and, without hesitation, she gently grabbed your face with one hand and brought you closer to her, giving you the kiss she had been dreaming about ever since your lips left hers at the mall.
your mind went blank, nothing else mattered. not the possibility of your family seeing you or the fact that kissing ellie would’ve been the worst thing imaginable a week back.
things had drastically changed.
you didn’t know when or why it happened exactly, but you seriously liked her. maybe when you saw how well she treated your parents, or how much she cared for your brother. maybe it was the way she looked at you whenever she made a joke to see if you’d laugh, or the fact that you shared practically the same taste in music.
there were many, many reasons for you to like her, yet you still couldn’t believe it was actually happening.
all of a sudden, you pulled away, leaving ellie with her lips puckered, “open your present.”
you placed the perfectly wrapped gift in between her hands, bragging about having wrapped it yourself since the guy from the store wasn’t very good at it.
you watched as ellie tried her best not to rip the wrapping paper and open it carefully.
“it’s okay if you rip it,” you clarified.
“no, you wrapped it.”
once she finally opened it, a smile began spreading across her lips. on her hands, there was a mug. it was similar to the one you had on your apartment, with different little and delicate drawings of cats. the only difference was that yours had details in dark red and hers in deep blue. there was also a handwritten card that read ‘i hope this becomes your favorite one (just so i can use it)’.
a laugh escaped her lips, rolling her eyes as she brought you in for a hug. “thank you, i love it.”
“yeah?”
“yup. i’ll keep using yours, though.”
“it’s fine, i’ll use yours.”

y'all really like this one huh .
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
best friend!ellie who is actually in love with you and hates every person you bring home
you do not have the best track record with relationships
in fact literally every person you date turns out to be a major scumbag
and ellie knows this
because more often than not she's the one picking up the pieces and consoling you
when really all she wants is to tell you to leave those idiots and be with her
“look,” she says to you one day, as you're about to embark on another date
"just don’t… don’t go with him, okay?”
"i'm gonna be fine. he’s not like the others, he’s - he’s really nice, els. and sweet. i think you’d really like him.”
ellie scoffs at this, jaw clenching
“and I really appreciate how much you care. i do. you’re - you’re an amazing friend-”
that's what did it
ellie's gaze flickers back to you, all ice
any evidence of her previously gentle demeanour has completely vanished
"i’m not gonna like him,” she snaps. "as a matter of fact, i’m not even gonna try. you know why?”
she takes a step forward and presses her finger against your chest, hard
"because they're all nice," she continues. "jake was nice. alex was nice. hell, even brady was nice to you at first, but that got pretty overshadowed by the other girlfriend he had the entire time, huh?”
she jabs her finger at you to enunciate every point
“Face it,” Ellie huffs. “None of these guys are good enough for you. They’re all just gonna hurt you, lie to you, cheat on you, whatever. And if you keep going along this road, someday you’re gonna end up married to some deadbeat that treats you like shit and screws his secretary, all because he was nice.”
at this point ellie has you backed up against the wall, the distance between you so little than you can feel her laboured breaths against your lips
at her words, something inside you twists, and a shot of laughter bubbles up your throat
“Don’t you think I know that? Don’t you think that this is embarrassing enough for me as it is?”
“Don’t you think,” you spit, “that I feel like an absolute idiot every time I find out you’re right about the guy I’m seeing? That he doesn’t actually love me, that he’s just like the rest?”
“Because I do, okay? And the first thing I think of when one of these douchebags cheats on me or yells at me or lies to me isn’t even about how I’m feeling. It’s you!”
Ellie is taken aback by this, like a lot
"Me?"
“Yes, Ellie, you. I think of how your face gets all scrunched up, like - like this! Oh my god, you’re doing it right now.”
you grab her face with both hands as if to solidify your point
“I think about how you look at me like this, feeling all sorry for me and concerned and pitiful and I just…” your breath catches , a sob building in your throat
“I hate what comes after that, too. How angry you get, frustrated because you have to deal with this again and again and again.”
at this point ellie has to grab your wrist to stop you from jabbing the heel of your hand against your forehead repeatedly
she takes your wrists in her hands, concern etched into her features
"hey, hey. i'm not mad at you. i'm never mad at you."
you whine like a little kid when you respond
"yeah, you are"
"'m never mad at you," ellie assures you, pulling you into a hug. "just hate seeing you get hurt. it fucks me up, seeing what those guys do to you. and yeah, it makes me fucking pissed."
you're still really upset, choking back sobs as ellie rubs your back
"i know you think i'm pathetic," you say softly
and ellie's like what?????
because she doesn't think that, ofc she doesn't
"said it yourself. 'm never gonna meet a guy that's good to me. why bother, right?"
"no, that's not what i--" ellie cuts off, struggling to find the right words. "i didn't mean it like that."
"what'd you mean then?"
ellie's in physical pain trying to find a way to say this
because tbh she's been avoiding it for a while now
"just meant that... like, these guys, they're... they're idiots, because you're absolutely gorgeous and they don't see that"
"you don't think that guys find me pretty?"
"what? no! of course they see it. they just don’t notice the little things, you know? like the look you get when you aced a test and you’re about to tell me about it, or how you refuse to wear anything but a skirt even when it’s freezing out-”
what ellie's really trying to say slowly dawns on you
"ellie-” you cut in
“I mean, not that I’m complaining or anything-”
“ellie.”
“I just mean that there’s a million little things that make you who you are that these guys just don’t get. And I could spell it out for them, hell, I could even put it on like, a huge billboard and they still wouldn’t get it. Because that’s just who they are. And it makes sense that you’re shocked by it every time, because it makes no sense-”
“Ellie.”
“Fuck it,” Ellie curses below her breath, before grabbing your face in her hands and meeting your lips with hers
and it was one thing for her to kiss you, but God, it was another thing completely for you to kiss her back
it's completely electric, and ellie can't even believe it's happening
you pull away first, breathless
"you gonna let me talk now?" you ask, your words coming out muffled because ellie's hands are still planted firmly on your cheeks
"no," ellie says, and then dives into you again
when she finally, reluctantly, pulls up for air, you try a second time
"ellie," you whine, and she laughs and kisses you again quickly
"okay," she breathes, "talk."
you're just trying to make sense of the situation right now because everything is happening so suddenly
"you like me," you say, looking for confirmation
"i love you," ellie corrects, "i love you, and i swear that if that airhead comes into this room in the next five minutes to pick you up for that date, i'm going to punch his lights out"
"hey," you pout, "michael is nice"
ellie rolls her eyes and says "there you go again with the nice"
"fine," you laugh, "no more nice guys. i don't like 'em anyway"
"well that's a surprise"
you hum against the crook of her neck, "don't like nice guys. love you, though"
"good," ellie murmurs against your hair, "'m sick of 'em. don't wanna see 'em around my girl again"
"no more nice guys," you solemnly agree, "just mean, scary ellie"
"that's right," ellie agrees, before leaning down to kiss you again and again and again :))

best friend!ellie who is actually in love with you and hates every person you bring home
you do not have the best track record with relationships
in fact literally every person you date turns out to be a major scumbag
and ellie knows this
because more often than not she's the one picking up the pieces and consoling you
when really all she wants is to tell you to leave those idiots and be with her
“look,” she says to you one day, as you're about to embark on another date

SAY DON'T GO.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
✧.* "Why'd you have to make me want you? Why'd you have to give me nothin' back? Why'd you have to make me love you? I said, "I love you", you say nothin' back."
pairing. ellie williams x f!reader summary. ellie confesses her feelings for her best friend. it doesn't go as hoped. based on say don't go by taylor swift. warning. angst!! with plans for a happy ending depending on if you guys want a part 2. w.c. 2400.
It's cold in Jackson.
You tug the sleeves of your sweater starchly over your fingertips, fighting to ignore the chill that whips at your cheeks as you cross your arms beneath your chest.
The Tipsy Bison looms ahead of you, an amber glow pouring from the windows and into the empty, snow-ridden street.
Rocking on the balls of your feet, you deliberate whether or not you should run back to your place and change. It's a bit of a walk, and the thin layer of snow piling at your feet makes it less than ideal, but it beats catching frostbite.
Who wears a skirt in December?
You're about to make a break for it when — before you can even register her presence — a slender pair of hands drapes a jacket across your shoulders.
"You look pretty," the owner of the hands says. "Nice skirt."
A familiar warmth spreads to your cheeks as Ellie steps into your line of sight. Unlike you, she's dressed for the weather in a casual grey hoodie and winter boots, her signature green parka now hanging from your shoulders.
Warm breath hits your face as Ellie leans forward and pulls the jacket tighter across your figure.
Her hair's pulled back into a low bun, and something twists in your chest as your eyes take in her freckled features, latching onto where they're dusted pink from the cold.
You tug a lip between your teeth, choosing to ignore the fuzzy feeling that's become intrinsically linked with Ellie's presence.
Cute, you think.
"It's Dina's," you say, eyebrows scrunching together. "I'm cold as shit, though. I feel stupid."
A wolf-whistle resounds from Ellie's lips.
"Well thank you, Dina," she sing-songs, her voice low. You grow hot under her gaze, belly swirling as those green eyes take you in. "It'll be warmer inside. Keep the jacket, though."
"Are you sure? I feel bad."
"Angel, don't," Ellie says conclusively, waving a hand. "It looks better on you than it does me anyway."
Her mouth quirks to the side, a smirk playing at her lips as she tucks loose hair behind your ear.
You open your mouth to protest, but she's already reaching for your hand and dragging you inside.
In the midst of an apocalypse, the Tipsy Bison is alive and well.
It thrums with life, the citizens of Jackson all gathering in what Maria has called "a celebration of years of peaceful occupation".
Or, as Jesse liked to call it, a "Hey, we're still not dead!" party.
"You made it!" Dina exclaims, eyes bright as you join her and Jesse at the bar. Jesse greets the both of you with a simple salute as Dina moves to hug Ellie first, then you, firm hands settling on your cloaked shoulders. "And you look amazing."
She eyes the skirt, and you feel a little self-conscious as the group's attention falls on your outfit. "Right, Ellie?"
Her tone is conspiratorially light as she looks pointedly at the auburn-haired girl, something unspoken transpiring between the two of them. Ellie looks away, scratches at her neck.
You stare at the floor, hoping that if you look hard enough it'll swallow you whole and save you the embarrassment of whatever they're currently thinking about you.
Jesse raises his brows at his girlfriend, who gives him the kind of look that says "What?" and rolls her eyes, turning to face you instead.
"So," Dina says, leaning against the bar. "What's new? How's everything going with the garden?"
You almost sigh, grateful for the chance to speak about something other than your choice of attire. You launch into a discussion about Jackson's community garden, a project you'd been overseeing for the last month or so.
Sometime between discussing the tomato shortage and unearthing the details of the temporary caterpillar problem, Ellie pulls you against her, pressing your back to her front.
She casually rests her hands on either side of your waist, thumbs rubbing hypnotic circles against your hips.
It's around this time that you forget how to talk.
You know, consciously, that you're still speaking. And you know those words must be making some kind of sense, because Dina is nodding and Jesse's making quips, but none of it registers over the roar of blood rushing to your ears.
There's this other thing, too. The thing you shove down as you squeeze your thighs shut, trying to dull an ache you don't fully understand. Not yet, anyway.
"So, yeah," you cough, bringing the story to halt. "That's about it."
After another couple minutes of mindless chatter, Dina and Jesse take to the dancefloor, and you're left alone with Ellie.
Her voice is a low murmur against the shell of your ear.
"You okay, angel?"
Angel.
"Uh, yeah," you say, pulling out of her grip. "Just hot, I think. Is it just me or is it, like, really warm in here?"
It's almost comical how quickly you strip out of her jacket, flinging it across one of the stools. You turn to face her, hoping the heat in your cheeks doesn't flare as much as it burns.
The corner of Ellie's lip quirks downward at the loss of contact, eyebrows cinching together. She reaches to bring you back to her, but you're already moving backward.
"I think I'm gonna go dance," you say before she can get a word in edgewise.
You make for the dancefloor, desperate to quieten the roaring in your ears.
What the fuck is wrong with me?
Older music blares from the overhead speakers, a song you recognise pouring into the venue. You let the beat carry your movements and join the pulse of bodies moving in time with the music.
"Mind if I join you?" a voice asks from behind you.
You turn, immediately faced with a boy about your age.
"Max!" you exclaim, drawing him into a hug. You recognise him instantly as the person you'd been partnered with for stables duties last spring, right before he'd switched assignments. "Hey, how are you?"
Max flashes you a toothy grin. "I'm great. Not as great as you, though. You look... wow."
He raises a hand, gesturing to your outfit.
"It's just a skirt," you say dismissively. "And this is probably the last time I'll wear one of these, anyway. Too much attention."
"I'm sure."
You blink at him. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"I mean that you've got to know how beautiful you are. It makes sense you're getting a little attention."
"That's sweet but..." you laugh, awkwardly. "I don't really get much attention from anyone, really. I was referring to my friends."
Max quirks a brow. "Well you've got to know why that is."
You tilt your head, not quite getting it.
"Come on," Max says, shaking his head. "It's obvious."
His gaze shifts, and you follow his line of sight to where Ellie is standing at the bar. She's staring at you, hard. Something unreadable flickers in her eyes, her jaw set as she looks straight ahead.
You look away quickly.
Shaking your head, you ask: "Ellie? What does she have to do with anything?"
"Wow. Don't tell me you're that oblivious."
"Oblivious to..."
"Everyone thinks the two of you are together."
You pause. "What? No, we're just friends."
Max laughs, almost meanly. "You sure about that? The girl's attached to you like an extra limb."
"I'm her best friend," you reiterate.
Max didn't get it — Ellie had lost a lot of people she really cared about.
She didn't like to talk about life pre-Jackson that much, but it made sense to you that she'd be a little clingy after going through something like that.
"Sorry, sorry," Max says, raising his hands in defense. "I don't mean to pry. I'm just saying that's probably why everyone steers clear. I mean, she can be pretty scary."
"Ellie's harmless," you say, your words unconvincing to your own ears.
You recall her eyes burning holes into the two of you.
She can be pretty scary.
"So, a couple of us are heading out," Max says, changing the subject. "A buddy of mine found an abandoned park a little way's out. Might shoot up some infected and hang out for a while. Interested?"
You nod. It sounds exactly like the type of thing you're very much not interested in, to be honest.
You glance over to the bar, catching Ellie's intense gaze, and feel a pit of anxiety form in your stomach.
"Yeah," you say, slowly. "I'll be there. Just let me say bye to my friends."
He grins as you excuse yourself and walk over to where Ellie is standing.
"I'm heading out," you say as you approach her. "Max invited me to go with him and some others outside of town for a little while."
Ellie's brows scrunch together. "What?"
"Yeah, we're thinking of, uhm, shooting up some infected and hanging out at the park—"
"Not happening."
You frown. "Excuse me?"
Ellie rolls her eyes, scoffing. "Not fucking happening."
"I don't remember asking your permission?"
"Are you stupid?" She asks, tone harsh. "You think Maria would sign off on something like this?"
"Since when do you care about what Maria signs off on? She's distracted with the party, anyway."
"I care that you're putting yourself in danger," Ellie huffs. "You call me to come take care of it when there's a spider in your room. You can't handle infected."
"I'll be with Max and his friends," you say firmly. "They're all on patrol."
Ellie's laugh is forced. "Yeah, because Max and his dickhead friends are going to protect you. First sign of a bloater and they're running to save their own asses."
You open your mouth to protest, but she's quick to cut you off.
"I'm coming with you," she says. "Let me get my gun."
Max's voice rings in your ears.
The girl's attached to you like an extra limb.
"I don't think that's a good idea," you say, quietly.
Something flashes in Ellie's eyes. Confusion, at first. Then hurt.
You suddenly feel like an asshole.
You want to reach out and smooth the crease in her brows, tell her you're sorry — even if you aren't quite sure what for.
Ellie's gaze flickers between you and the crowd. "So this is about him, then."
Him. She says it like it burns.
You don't know what game you're playing anymore. You don't care about Max, you never have.
But when you're around Ellie, everything's too much — too hot, too fucking intense, too saturated — and you don't know what it means, or how to turn it off.
I'm her best friend.
It makes you feel like shit.
So, you nod.
"Yeah," you say, against your better judgement. "I was thinking it'd be nice to get to know him a little. One on one."
"Right."
Silence.
"Is that okay?"
Music bleats from the speakers. For a second, Ellie doesn't say anything.
And then: "Don't."
You look up, dragging your eyes away from their fixation on the hardwood floor.
"Don't go. Please."
She says the words like they're hard to get out. Painful, even.
"Ellie," you say, softly. "I'll be safe."
"It's not that. Not just that, I mean."
You stare at her, but she isn't looking back, too busy picking dutifully at the peeling skin on her fingers.
You resist the urge to reach forward and close your hands around her own to get her to stop.
"Then what is it?"
Ellie's inhale is shaky. "I didn't want to... at least not like this... fuck, this is awkward."
The song on the speakers changes to an 80s number you recognise from Joel's CD collection. It draws Ellie from her thoughts, makes her huff with frustration.
You take her hand, dragging her outside and onto the porch. It's quieter here, but you'd forgotten how cold it was, wincing as it immediately bites at your cheeks.
You cross your arms over your chest and look at Ellie, who lets out a strained: "Look... angel, you've gotta know how I feel about you."
Not what you'd been expecting.
"How you... feel about me?"
"Yeah." Ellie walks over to the wooden banister, her green eyes reluctantly meeting yours as you come up beside her.
"I don't get it," you say, puzzled.
Ellie's voice is barely above a whisper. "You're really gonna make me say it, huh?"
She braces herself, rests both hands against the banister. Another shaky breath.
"I... fucking hell." She runs a hand across her face. "I love you."
"I love you too? What does that—"
"No," Ellie says, cutting you off. Her hand hangs in the air between you. "Not just... not just as a friend."
Oh. Oh.
Her confession settles between you like fallen snow. Heavy, thick.
Cold.
Ellie leans forward, green eyes searching yours. "Wait, you seriously didn't know?"
I love you. Not just as a friend.
You shake your head. None of this makes any sense.
"You never...there was no indication—"
"No indication? Angel, I gave you my jacket."
"Okay, but that doesn't necessarily mean—"
"Whenever you come over, I let you sleep in my bed—"
"I thought you were just cold—"
"I call you angel, for fuck's sake—"
"I thought you called everyone angel."
Ellie looks at you, incredulous. "Have you ever heard me call Dina 'angel'?"
"No, but—"
"What about Jesse? Have you ever seen me cuddling Jesse?"
"We're best friends!" you exclaim. "That's what best friends do!"
It's like a tap has been opened, the words flooding out of you in a rush. This was all too much, too soon.
Ellie didn't love you.
She couldn't.
Silence.
"Is that... what we are to you?" Ellie asks, the crack in her voice betraying her.
Your words are soft, tentative.
"I don't know how to be anything else."
At that moment, the doors to the Tipsy Bison swing open. Max walks out of the bar, his friends flanking him from both sides. He sidles up to you, swings a hefty arm across your shoulders.
"You ready to go?" He asks, a wide smile plastered across his red face. The smell of nicotine washes over you as he talks.
I love you. Not just as a friend.
You nod, and Ellie's face falls.
"Great!" Max exclaims. "See you around, Ellie."
And then he leads you by the shoulders, pulling you away from the one real thing you've ever known, a crestfallen Ellie watching from the porch.

dating ellie williams hcs
warnings: minimal angst word count: 2.3k
-
♡ y’all were good friends before y’all started to date.
♡ you two met shortly after arriving in jackson the second time.
♡ you sort of were her first friend and she grew close to you.
♡ you two get into so much trouble when y’all were younger, you would egg each other on to do the dumbest shit.
♡ even after you introduced her to other kids y’all’s ages, she still felt a pull to you
♡ at first she didn’t fully realize what she was feeling for you
♡ her heart would race when seeing you until one day it dawns on her, holy shit i’m in love with my best friend
♡ from then on she would get more nervous to hangout with you one-on-one. and don't get me started on sleepovers, homegirl would be in full blown panic attack having her cute best friend sleep next to her.
♡ but it sort of scared her, she was scared that if she told you wouldn’t feel the same and would stop being her friend.
♡ she became much more protective than she already was, you think it's just ellie being a good friend she’s not doing because she likes you, right? wrong
♡ when you guys were younger and you would mention that you were crushing on someone she would always find something negative to say about them.
♡ “i think they're cute.”
♡ “really y/n, you could do so much better!”
♡ when she reflects on moments like these she realizes that she's liked you for so long without noticing it.
♡ side note: you were there the entire time she got her tattoo done and held her hand when needed
♡ there are definitely moments where she finds the courage to tell you but always backs out.
♡ instead she would try to drop (not very good) hints:
♡ she would play the guitar for you, something she only does for joel because she's shy
♡ draw little sketches of you and show them to you (you would then shower her with praise and that would always get her feeling warm on the inside.)
♡ and cryptic love poems that she would share to you
♡ when she finally confessed it was after a dance that you convinced her to go to. you two left a little early, a bit drunk and with arms linked back to her room.
♡ you two decided to watch a movie, one of the ones ellie had told you about. while you were fully engrossed in the movie, ellie was busy looking at you, all snuggled up on her side. the alcohol must have given her liquid courage,
♡ “hey” she said as she nudged you. you tear your eyes away from the tv to look at her. “what?”
♡ “i really like you, like romantically.” she explains bluntly and gives you one of her shy smiles. you stare at her, trying to process the sudden confession in your drunken brain.
♡ ellie starts to get worried because you’re not saying anything, “shit i’m sorry, i get it if you don't feel-”
♡ you shut her up by giving her a quick peck on the lips.
♡ “i like you too” :)
♡ needless to say you two went to bed cuddled up next to each other after official becoming an item
♡ her to-go pet name for you is babe, it’s simple and gets the point across. sometimes she’ll playfully call you dork. and in a more intimate situation she’ll call you baby :)
♡ as we know ellie is a private person and that with all aspects of her life, including romantic relationships. she isn’t a fan of pda but will not hesitate to hold your hand and give you a kiss on cheek.
♡ in private all that goes out the window and she’s so affectionate and soft, hugs from behind and neck kisses, she wants those moments to only be between the two of you.
♡ she’s so whipped for you
♡ ellie never thought she would like cuddling until she started dating you, she would never admit to it but there’s an unspoken need she has for it.
♡ speaking of cuddling, sleeping together...
♡ you used to sleepover at her place frequently before y’all got together but now you practically sleep over every night.
♡ she likes to hold you close and feel that you’re safe in her arms.
♡ ellie is the big spoon most times but when she’s down and she’s the one who wants to be held.
♡ ellie definitely gets jealous, it's part of her nature. it stems from the fear of you leaving her
♡ like when ellie brought back jesse to the theatre and dina hugs him and starts to talk to him, ellie sort of sulked back.
♡ please don’t leave this poor gal, she loves you
♡ she definitely is the type to get clingy and sulk and not be confrontational unless someone is being way to forward with you and flirting
♡ if that happens she will jump in and tell them to back because you’re her girl
♡ anyways once y’all were at a dance and you were talking to a mutual friend for awhile and she was feeling a bit left out so she goes up to you,
♡ “hey babe :)” and gives you a quick peck on the cheek and wraps an arm around your waist, trying to get your attention.
♡ you just smile at her and continue your conversation.
♡ and she's like, “hello??? i’m right here, pay attention to me.” :(
♡ ellie doesn’t say anything but she grabs your hand and starts lightly tugging on it, trying to signal you that she wanted your attention.
♡ after a few minutes you say goodbye and leave the dance, not saying a word to her until y’all were walking home hand in hand
♡ “what was that el?” you ask her although you already know what had happen, you just wanted to fuck with her
♡ “just wanted to go home.”
♡ “go home? or did you just want my attention?”
♡ she gets flustered and tries to play it off by shrugging and disregarding your question
♡ “you could have just told me you wanted my attention instead of tugging on my hand like a little kid” you tease her.
♡ at this point her cheeks are red from embarrassment.
♡ “let’s go home then you big needy baby,” you tease wrapping your arms around her and playfully pinching her cheek.
♡ she cuddled the shit out of you when y’all got home
-♡ now let’s talk out her being protective, a huge fear that ellie has is you dying ofc
♡ she doesn't want to live a life without you :(
♡ even when y’all were friends, whenever y’all had patrols together she should make sure that always look out for you
♡ she does not want to risk losing you so she’s always on her toes just in case she needs to jump in
♡ now let’s get to the sad shit :,(
♡ finding her unconscious in that basement damn near gave you a heart attack, for a second you thought she was dead too after seeing joel’s mangled body.
♡ the night you guys got back to jackson, she cried in your arms for hours. through her sobs she expressed her regret that she didn't attempt to mend the relationship sooner. she hoped that joel died knowing that she didn't despise him.
♡ “i wish i could back in time and tell him that i forgive him.”
♡ she was a shell of her former self, she was so quiet and didn’t get out very often. she didn't sleep much either, you tried to coax her once in a while but she would always wake up screaming from a nightmare that you would consol her from.
♡ you were practically glued to her side just incase she had a panic attack
♡ about month later she decides to go to seattle to hunt down joel’s killer.
♡ and of course you accompany her
♡ “wherever you go, i go” :,)
♡ going to seattle was a life changing experience and it bonded you and ellie together so much more.
♡ this trip made you love and appreciate each other more than ever
♡ when abby left after knocking you out and nearly slitting your throat, ellie broke down at the sight of your unconscious body, she realized how much her rage and hyperfixation on revenge she nearly got the love of life killed. and that you were her life and how nearly she fucked it up.
♡ on the way back to jackson, she casually drops that she wants to marry you
♡ you kind of freeze because it came out of nowhere but you agree that its what you want even though y’all are like 20
♡ once you two heal from seattle you have a simple ceremony, you ended up finding a sundress to try to mimic what weddings were like before everything went to shit
♡ ellie nearly cried because you looked so beautiful, “you look like an angel baby”
♡ there were no rings, only the acknowledgement of two young people in love
♡ after y’all get hitched, y’all immediately start looking for somewhere to live independently.
♡ finding the farmhouse was a jackpot and it was only about a mile and a half away from jackson. there's still a sense of security because jackson in so close just in case of an emergency
♡ it was quiet and perfect for you two. y’all get to live a simple life.
♡ so much domestic fluff omg
♡ lazy and slow mornings spent cuddling
♡ ellie absolutely loves to call you her wife
♡ “what's my lovely wife up to?” “hello my beautiful wife”
♡ so much dancing!! y’all record player is being used so often.
♡ ellie will spend a lot of time in her studio room painting and drawing. sometimes you come in and read a book just to be around her
♡ ellie ended up finding a pair wedding rings that conveniently fit you two on one of her hunting trips (thank god for rich people having vacation cabins in rural wyoming)
♡ she's such a dork when she gives you the ring
♡ it’s y’alls one year anniversary being married
♡ you're just casually folding some laundry when you hear ellie call your name from the doorway of your shared room. and this girl is knelt down on one knee and has a ring in her hands.
♡ “i know i didn't get the proper opportunity to propose to you but here it is. [y/n], i’ve loved you from the moment i set eyes on you and sometimes i can't believe that you gave me a chance but i love you. will you marry me?”
♡ “i already did you dork” :)
♡ she has the biggest goofiest smile when she slides the ring on you.
♡ “look what else i got,” she says and pulls out the matching ring from her back pocket, “we match!”
♡ you nearly cry from happiness
♡ let’s get sad again, ellie is in a much better place but she's still scarred from everything
♡ she gets panic attacks and horrible nightmares, you’re always there to calm her down and reassure her that everything’s going to ok
♡ one time she woke from a very vivid nightmare in the middle of the night and you weren’t next to her, you were outside on the porch getting some fresh air
♡ her panic and hysteria increased tenfold because she started to think the nightmare she had of you dying was true.
♡ when you heard wailing you sprinted to your shared room, poor ellie was sobbing because she thought you were actually gone.
♡ you immediately wrapped her in your arms reassuring her that everythings going to be ok
♡ between her sobs she keeps on repeating that you’re dead
♡ “ellie look at me, feel me, everything’s ok, i’m here, just breathe.”
♡ after that you make sure to keep her within arms length at night
♡ ellie’s really glad that you’re so patient and kind with her when she gets her panic attacks
♡ that day when tommy came by to inform ellie on abby’s last known location, you nearly socked him in the face.
♡ you two had finally found some peace and routine but tommy had to come and fill her head with nonsense -that night y’all have heart to heart
♡ you tell her that you’re done with abby, you nearly lost each other because of her and you're not risking anything anymore. getting married to her closed that chapter of your lives.
♡ “i married you under the impression that that was over ellie. and we’ve moved on, or at least i have. i love you and i don't want you to leave me and i want to believe that you feel the same.”
♡ “tommy’s full of shit, ellie. you don't owe him anything.”
♡ ellie would definetly be torn on what to do but once you express your feelings and concerns she realizes that it's not worth it
♡ she knows she’ll forever be scarred from what abby did, but deep down that need for revenge has fizzled away. ellie’s home and happiness is with you and she doesn’t want that to go away. she knows that if she decides to go to santa barbara she’ll leave you behind alone and heartbroken.
♡ so fuck you tommy, ellie is not leaving her wife
♡ for a while its just you two and the livestock y’all have but a few years down the line, you decided to adopt a kid, in jackson the parents of a baby girl had passed away so you two were happy to take her in as your own
♡ y’all are a big happy family together
♡ ellie loves her girls :,)
♡ over the years ellie has healed and becomes a lot more like how she was before joel’s death
♡ those months after joel died ellie never thought that she would every truly be happy again but when she sees you with y’alls daughter she feels her heart explode
♡ in conclusion she’s so in love with you and lives happily ever after with her little family because she deserves it.

speak now
pairing: ellie williams x reader summary: you're getting married, and ellie isn't taking it well. (based off the taylor swift song, obviously.)
Tumblr media
"Are you seriously drunk right now?" When Dina had agreed to be your maid of honour, she knew that meant taking on a fair share of responsibilities. And she was ready for it, too. Hell, she was even excited. You were the first in their friend group to get hitched, and she was determined to make your day as perfect as it could be. If that meant letting you weep in her arms about incorrect seating arrangements and ugly hand-me-down wedding dresses day in and day out, so be it. It'd all be worth it to see you on the aisle, beaming at her like the beautiful bride everyone knew you'd be.
She'd thought that the hardest parts of her endeavours as best-friend-of-the-bride were over. In fact, she thought they'd ended the night before when she finally managed to track down those strippers (long story) and put you to bed before your big day.
What she didn't know was that her biggest problem was yet to arrive.
"'M not drunk," said problem slurred, leaning against the wall. "Jus' tipsy. Maybe... a little high."
Ellie pinched her fingers together to emphasize her point. Her eyes were pink and hazy, lazily scanning the wedding party for any sign of you. The top buttons of her white shirt were undone, her tie hanging loosely around her neck. She ran a hand across her scalp, causing strands of hair to fall out of her small bun.
She looked terrible.
"No," Dina hissed, grabbing her arm. She looked around quickly, hoping no one was watching. "You are not doing this today."
Ellie tried to tug her arm out of Dina's grip. "Just need to talk to her, 's all. Lemme talk to her, D."
"Are you out of your mind?" Dina asked incredulously. "No, seriously. Is there something wrong with you?"
"Everything okay?"
Jesse sidled up to Dina, a look of surprise crossing his face when he noticed Ellie's inebriated state. Dina's eyes widened and she jutted her head towards the girl next to her, as if to say: "Does it look like everything is fucking okay to you?"
"She's looking for Y/N," Dina gritted out.
"Ah," Jesse said. He turned to Ellie and placed a strong hand on her shoulder. "Listen, man, you need to sober up. She's getting married and you've gotta accept that. If you really care about her, you won't fuck up this day for her."
"Jus' lemme talk to her," Ellie slurred, swaying slightly. "Please."
"Ellie," Dina started. "You're the one who ended things with her. Just let her move on, okay?"
Ellie's eyes narrowed. "Don't fucking tell me what to do--"
She stepped away, trying to jerk her arm out from Dina's grip and stumbling forward in the process, her hip jutting against one of the tables behind them. The clanging of forks hitting the floor caused a few heads to turn.
"Okay, you know what?" Dina asked, letting go of Ellie's arm. She turned to Jesse. "I'm going to check on Y/N. Watch her and make sure she doesn't wreck anything while I'm gone."
Dina shouldered past the pair, desperate to reach you before disaster struck. She loved Ellie (they'd been friends for years before she'd even met you) but you'd quickly grown into one of the closest people to her, and she'd be damned if she let your ex get in the way of your happiness after what she'd put you through. She didn't know all the details of what happened, but she knew enough to be sure that you deserved to move on and find love again.
The sudden death of Ellie's adoptive father, Joel, had completely wrecked her. The doctors chalked the cause of death up to an underlying heart condition, but Ellie couldn't help but somehow feel responsible for not doing anything about it sooner. She'd turned to booze, weed, whatever it took to stop feeling that loss. Unfortunately, that meant she wasn't able to really be there for you, and shut out the one person she cared about more than anything in the world.
Dina swung open the doors to your changing room to reveal a menagerie of puffy bridesmaids and pastel-clad family members swarming around you. You looked up at the sound of the door, relief flooding into your eyes. You hadn't spoken, but the message was clear: save me.
"Ahem," Dina cleared her throat. "The service is about to start, so I'm gonna need everyone who's not in the wedding to be seated. Bridesmaids, just wait outside the door, kay? I'll be with you in a second."
After a few more minutes of fussing around you, your friends and family filtered out of the room. You grabbed Dina's hands in yours.
"Oh my god, thank you. I was going to throw up if another person offered to give me something borrowed or blue."
"No biggie," Dina shrugged. "Just part of the job. How are you feeling?"
You thought about it for a second. "Honestly? Terrified."
"Look, your only job right now is to look hot and walk up the aisle to the love of your life. The rest we can worry about later."
"Yeah," you agreed. "Just gotta... do that. Is it hot in here or is it just this dress?"
You started fanning yourself, causing Dina to expel some of her anxiety through an airy laugh.
"Y/N," she said, slowly. "You're fine. Everything is fine."
Ironically, at that exact moment the doors to the dressing room slammed open, and then nothing was fine at all.
Because Ellie was here.
Here, in your dressing room.
On your wedding day.
"I tried to stop her," Jesse said, coming up behind her. "She told me she needed the bathroom and then made a run for it when I wasn't looking."
"Jesse, I gave you one job--"
"I need to talk to you," Ellie said firmly. "And you can throw me out if you don't like what I have to say but please just hear me out."
"Ellie--"
"It's okay," you said, surprising even yourself. Why you were giving Ellie the time of day after what she'd pulled with you was a mystery to everyone in the room, but there you were, doing it anyway. "D, could you give us a second? I'll be out as soon as possible."
You tried for a reassuring smile, hopefully one that would convince her you weren't going to fold for your sapphic situationship for the hundredth time over.
Dina gave you a significant look, clearly indicating that she wasn't buying it. "Five minutes. Then I'm busting this door open."
She led Jesse outside and closed the door behind them, giving you and Ellie some privacy. You looked up at the other girl, finally meeting her green eyes.
"Hey," you said, awkwardly.
"Hey."
You opened your mouth to say something, but the words died down as you caught sight of Ellie's expression.
"Fuck," she breathed, not moving. "Y/N, you look..."
She trailed off, her hand creeping to the back of her neck as she took you in. You wore an elaborate white dress, an off-the-shoulder number with intricate flower detailing that hugged your curves and showed off your physique. A veil cascaded down your back and across your shoulders, cloaking your perfectly curled hair. It was a look Ellie had envisioned you in more times than she'd like to admit, but in her dreams she'd always been the one on the other end of the aisle.
You looked incredible, and it was killing her.
You knew it, too, choking down an apology as you took in her pained expression. She looked like a wounded animal.
"Thanks," you said, your voice small. "Is there something you wanted to--"
"Don't marry him."
Ellie's abruptness took you by surprise. "Excuse me?"
"Don't. Marry. Him."
Ellie crossed the room in a second, coming up to you in quick yet purposeful strides.
"Ellie--" you warned.
"I know this is my fault," Ellie interrupted. "I fucked things up with us, I was an asshole, and I knew that so I sucked it up when you two got together because I knew it was what I deserved. But, fuck, I love you. I haven't stopped loving you."
"You shouldn't have come here," you said quietly.
"And what?" Ellie asked, her breath hot on your cheeks. "Just sit around while some guy marries my fucking girl? I can handle a lot of things, Y/N, but I can't take that."
"I'm not your girl, Ellie, you ended things with me--"
"I'm a piece of shit," Ellie said, cutting her off. "If that's what you want me to say, I'll say it, because it's true. I'm a piece of shit and I don't deserve you. But I'm not losing you, okay? I'm not."
"You already lost me!"
Tears pricked at your eyes. It'd taken everything for you to step away from Ellie and move on, and now here she was, undoing all of your progress.
Ellie ran a hand across her face. "I can't do this."
"Can't do what?"
"Can't look at you right now," Ellie murmured.
"You can't look at me?"
"Can't look at you in that fuckin' dress," Ellie choked out, her breath ragged. "Can't listen to you when you're telling me I shouldn't be here but your cheeks are flushed 'n you're looking at me like you're begging to be kissed."
You blushed, a deep warmth spreading across your cheeks. "I'm not--"
"Yes," Ellie murmured, stepping closer to close the space between you. "'You are."
There was a brief pause where Ellie waited for you to say something, to give any indication that she should step away. You knew this was a bad idea. You knew you had a perfectly stable, loving fiancé down the hall. And yet. And yet.
You kissed her.
Your arms wrapped around her neck and she instinctively tugged you in by the waist, a breathy "c'mere" escaping her lips as you came crashing against her. It all happened so quickly that you barely registered when Ellie lifted you off the ground, her strong arms pressing you up against the wall. She kissed you like it was the only time she'd ever get to do it. The kiss was deep, passionate, messy -- all of the things your current relationship was not. When you finally broke apart, a string of saliva connected your swollen lips. Ellie kissed it away and plopped your ass down onto the vanity, spreading your legs with her hands and moving to stand between them.
She wasted no time attacking your neck, her lips pressing to the skin there before moving down onto your collarbone and peppering it with hot kisses. You moaned softly as Ellie pushed the skirts of your dress up and over your thighs and started gently rubbing the skin there.
"So fuckin' pretty," Ellie murmured against your neck. Her thumbs began rubbing slow circles against your waist. She kissed above the neckline of your wedding dress.
"Ellie," you whined softly, thighs clenching. You tugged on her loose tie and twirled it around your fingers, pulling her closer to you.
"'M here, angel--"
Three sharp knocks at the door pulled you out of your trance.
"Your five minutes are up," Dina called from the hallway. "I'm coming in-- Oh my god!"
Dina gasped as she took in the scene before her: a bride pushed up against the vanity, her makeup smeared and her ex's face shoved in her cleavage.
"I-- I can explain," you stuttered, freezing up.
"Oh. My. God," Dina reiterated. "I failed at this so hard."
And then she closed the door, leaving you two to finish what you'd started all those years ago.
