Some design exploration for Sabine in DnD. Being an aasimar comes with its perks and curses. Her are her exalted form and fallen form respectively.

So far in-game she's only appeared like this in dream sequences but I'm excited to see where it goes. Poor thing has no idea what's going on.

What morals does Kassidy, Charlie, and Juniper have or lines they won't cross, if any?

Charlie's like you or me, she's got a pretty normal moral compass. Do good, keep your head down. Though she probably won't intervene if she sees a fight break out, she's got her limits. (Early on, anyway)

Kass has the moral backbone of an elastic band. She's an assassin so like... she murders people for money. That's pretty deplorable. I guess her limit is like....she wont kill kids?? She'll take their lunch money but nothing worse than that I don't think.

Juniper's a fae, that moral compass is a labrinth of which has no discernable goal.

Had another session of Sprawl a couple nights ago.

For context, Kassidy has a chip in her head that allows the corp she works for (Manticorp) to hijack her and take control of her body to make her do jobs for them. (Which is insult to injury because if they just asked and paid her she’d still do it but this about taking away her autonomy) And the chip has consequences if she spills the details to anyone.

Needless to say, the work Manticorp is forcing her to do is overlapping with the party so she sucks it up and tells the them regardless of whatever pain it was gonna cause her… the chip immediately assumed control and made her watch as she's puppetted into was attacking the party. And Kass is unfortunately one of the two in the group who is built to deal damage. She was able to take control back just before she was about to kill the hacker, stabbing the shoulder instead of his heart.

Needless to say she's having a great time.

How mature would you say Charlie, Kassidy, and Sabine are and what would they do if they found or spotted a rubber chicken?

Out of the three of them, Charlie's probably the most immature but thats because she's not currently/ is in the midst of experiencing her worst moments so she hasn't really grown from them just yet. Will constantly deny whats going on around her to desparately cling to her status quo thats being ripped from her.

Kassidy's in the middle. She's had a bunch of shit experiences to deal with and she's survived them, but that won't stop her from making horrible decisions and being extremely crass for the purposes of stirring up problems. But 9 times out of 10 she knows what she's doing.

Sabine is the most mature, if still pretty sheltered. She's mature enough to realize her current situation of being under the control of a bunch of scientists is for the safety of herself and the people around her. It doesn't matter how restricting it is. But that can also be seen as complacency.

No one resists the temptation to squeeze the rubber chicken.

I feel like Charlie's reaction to learning that Kassidy is an assassin after the shock wears off is something like "yeah, this makes sense".

Yeah in hindsight, she feels kinda stupid that it didn't click before

What is something that makes your characters sad?

Charlie, Kassidy, Sabine.

Charlie feels like she's missed a lot of opportunities for her own life (both of her own self-sabotage, and of outside factors) so thinking about 'what could have been' brings her down pretty quickly. She just forgets that she's still young and there's still a lot more in life waiting for her...and boy does it hit her hard.

For Kassidy, its her lack of control over her own life. Ever since she was young she was always under someone else's control (bad foster parents, Manticorp, etc etc) She fights tooth and nail just to make her own decisions, but her own actions tend to dig her in a deeper hole and it frustrates her to no end. I guess this makes her more angry, but once the anger burns out all thats left is a sadness so it fits.

Sabine... she absolutely mourns human contact. Her powers manifesting themselves make it next to impossible to make meaningful connections with people. Even before that though, she misses her family. Sabine wishes she could return, but with her aura of fear, she dreads them looking at her like shes a monster.

What is the worst gift your characters have ever received? How did they react?

Kassidy, Sabine, Charlie.

Genuinely, as angsty as this sounds, I don't think Kass has ever gotten a gift. Canonically anyway. In the traditional sense anyway. If anyone gives her something she'll immediately think its transactional and try to pay it back, or it just wont register that it was a gift at all. For something like her Darktide AU, she'd probably be snarky about it but still keep it as a memento.

That being said, Im sure Kassidy has GIVEN Sabine something she didn't really like or care for but Sabine loved the gesture more than anything. Then again you could hand Sabine a dirty hand towel and she'd thank you.

Charlie's family refuses to really get to know her so birthday's were always interesting in how wildly off base gifts her parents would get her. Charlie's no stranger to stone walling her disdain so she just nervously laughs it off before putting it away in a drawer never to be seen again. Though thats partly her fault too for never opening up to most people anyway.

What's something that makes your character laugh everytime?

For Kassidy, Charlie, and Imogen.

Kassidy's a shithead so I think the most reliable way to get her to laugh is someone else's misfortune. Whether is physical or emotional, she's going to be the first one laughing at you. Or laughing with you.

Charlie's been worn down the by the grind that is everyday life, but regardless of her raging resting bitch face, she does have a sense of humour and its a pretty immature one. Like... who doesnt laugh at a well placed fart joke?

Imogen is an enigma and no one will ever know. I don't even know. She is only a mouthpiece for an extra dimensional being after all. :3

Between Kass and Charlie, Who do they like as a person but hate their work or vise versa?

Interestingly, Charlie likes Kass because they were friends in passing (Charlie works at a convenience store and Kassidy lives upstairs and frequents it). Charlie eventually fins out the hard way that Kassidy's an ASSASSIN so understandably she hates her work haha

Kassidy on the other hand, probably hates a few other mercenaries she's worked with, but can respect what they do. She's probably had to work on teams where she didn't get along with the squad but she can respect the shit they do.
