This is my review on #googlemaps for @bestfriendsanimalsociety in #bentonvillearkansas If you haven’t been there, you are really missing out! I posted over 60 photos on Google Maps so check it out! “The Best Friends Animal Society is an interactive, educational, community hub for learning about animals. fostering caring skills as well as placing them in loving homes. I visited the center to donate some toys for the animals, soon to be someone’s pets I hope, and was beyond impressed! This modern, spotless, upscale “animal shelter” looks like a decadent pet spa. But make no mistake, the animals inside this no kill facility are in desperate need of homes. The staff greet you with friendly smiles and are more than willing to give you a tour of the multi level, glass window buildings with eduction rooms, craft volunteer tables, art structures- you really have to see it to believe it! There’s even a coffee and pastry shop as well as little gift store area! And ALL of this is to benefit the animals. A large enclosed outdoor play area for the dogs to romp is so nice. I saw staff playing with two Great Pyrenees. There aren’t traditional cages, but indoor air conditioned glass walled enclosures. And the cat area had little bubbles for them to roost. Visit as soon as you can and pick up your new best friend. Today, even though I got rained on, it was cold and windy, and my umbrella blew inside out, I visited the historic site of the Monte Ne Ruins!It’s due to be torn down on February 28th, and pieces placed in @rogershistoricalmuseum. Monte Ne, now a historic ruin, was originally a resort located on the bank of #BeaverLake, in Rogers,Arkansas from 1901 to the mid 1930s. William Hope Harvey owned and operated it. He was also once a Presidential nominee. The tower of Monte Ne is still standing, tagged with lots of graffiti, and is the only part of the resort ruins that can be seen above the lake. Monte Ne was Arkansas’s the first indoor swimming pool. It also held the only presidential convention in Arkansas. The resort wasn’t a success and closed after Mr Harvey’s death. My most recent pair of upscaled boots. They were a plain pair of beige suede boots with pain fringe in the back. I was bored with them. I was inspired by a vintage Italian Venet Iaurum Murano glass snake pendant, and my own original leather hand painted, studded, and hand tooled with pyrography jewelry. I painted the boots, added feathers and beads. These are vintage sewing patterns from the 70s! I used to make halter tips and skirts from patterns for myself ALL THE TIME! I only used Simplicity patterns because they were the cheapest. I couldn’t afford McCall’s or Vogue on my $1.25 per hour salary from Sears in the Gentilly Woods Mall in New Orleans at age 15! I met my husband in , @joey_campo_1977 in one of my homemade halters. It was little sailboats on royal blue jersey. I used to buy 1/4 yard of fabric and cut it into a triangle, fold it over and run a string through the neck and the bottom like the green one here. Then I’d buy another 1/4 yard of terry cloth (I was very small, lol) and make a sizzle skirt with a pull waist. ( very short mini skirt). I painted them with acrylic paints as well and waterproofed them with Liquitex high gloss varnish. Then I added painted flowers I made from larger flower pieces and leaves, as well as some charms and ribbons.
