I know that I haven't been posting lately but I've been taking care of a very cranky starting to go through the whole teething experience six month old. I'm going to get back to writing real soon but I just wanted to post something for Sam's birthday. He's officially 40 years old. So happy birthday Sam Winchester.

This One Is Not A Test Ch. 23
Pairing: BuckyxOFC
Word Count: 937
Summary: Tessa goes with Bucky when he confesses to Yori.
Tessa could feel her heart pounding out of her chest, Bucky had asked her to come with him when he told Yori the truth. "Right here." he said before pointing at a door and the two of them stopped right in front of it. Bucky knocked on it and they waited for a few seconds before he knocked again she could practically feel the nervousness coming off of him. Suddenly the door slowly opened up and Yori looked up at them confused before it clicked as to who was knocking on his door.
"Hey, what are you doing here? It's late, both of you come in before someone calls the cops." Yori said before making way for them. Tessa followed Bucky in giving Yori a smile as she did so. Yori smiled back at her and gave her a gentle pat on her arm before he shut the door behind them. Tessa had gone to Izzy's with Bucky a few times and she had started to create a friendship with Yori, it killed her to keep quiet about the truth but she knew that Bucky needed to tell Yori himself. Yori deserved to look his son's killer in the face to get answers that she didn't really have. "What are you guys doing here? It's not Wednesday." Yori asked and Tessa looked at Bucky.
"I uh…I have to tell you something," they watched as Yori shook his head to show Bucky to go on "about your son."Tessa watched as Bucky pulled his glove off wanting to show Yori his hand. "He was murdered." Bucky told him his voice cracked a bit and Tessa could see tears starting to form in his eyes.
"What?" Yori asked sounding hurt, she could see the confusion as to how Bucky would know in his eyes.
"By the Winter Soldier…and that was me." Bucky whispered and Tessa could feel a tear start to roll down her cheek.
"Why?" Yori whispered and Bucky took in a shaky breath.
"I was on a mission to take out a politician. He had been a thorn in Hydra's side and they had decided that he needed to be dealt with. I was told to leave no witnesses, if your son hadn't made any noise or left the area just a minute sooner I would have never known he was there and he would have come home." Bucky told him. Tessa watched as Yori took all of this information in before he looked back up at Bucky.
"And you couldn't spare him? He wouldn't have told anyone! He was a good boy!" Bucky's head went down as if he had just been struck.
"I couldn't. If I had let him live and Hydra found out they would have punished me and hunted him down and killed him," Bucky shook his head as he looked up "he was dead no matter what." they watched as Yori put his head in his hands and started to sob.
"My son! My boy! He never hurt anyone! He didn't deserve this!" he sobbed out. Tessa wiped away her tears and picked Bucky's glove up before handing it to him.
"I think it's time to go." she whispered. Bucky nodded his head and slowly stood up while he pulled his gloves back on. Tessa started to reach out to Yori to offer him some comfort but pulled her hand back when she thought it would be better not to do so. The two of them turned and walked out the door while Yori continued to sob, the sound followed them down the hallway and Tessa grabbed ahold of Bucky's right hand and squeezed in an effort to comfort both of them before they got to the door that led to the stairs and they walked down.
Tessa stepped into Izzy's about a week later, she was in a hurry to get something quick to eat before she headed off to work and she wasn't paying attention to what day of the week it was until she saw Yori sitting at the bar. She froze in the doorway and tried to think of a way to keep Yori from seeing her but at almost the same time that she walked in Yori turned towards the door and saw her standing there. Leah looked up and saw her and looked at Yori as if she was trying to gauge the old man's reaction, when he didn't seem like he was going to start yelling and screaming Tessa walked over to the bar. "Hey Tessa. Getting your usual?" Leah asked.
"Yeah sounds great." Tessa said not wanting to look at Yori, Tessa had gone in not to long after she had started to date Bucky to apologize to Leah about what she had done during his birthday party but Leah had told her that she had let it go and understood that Bucky had chose Tessa and not her and the two of them had developed a bit of a friendship. As Leah walked away Yori reached out and touched her arm and she walked over to see what he wanted. Tessa watched as Yori whispered something in her ear and Leah nodded her head yes before walking away to put Tessa's order in. A few minutes later Leah brought Tessa's order out and after a few more pleasantries Tessa left the shop and headed towards the subway to make her way to work. It wasn't until she got home and opened up the bag during her lunch break that she found some red bean mochi sitting in a box waiting for her to eat.

This One Is Not A Test ch. 22

A/N: Sorry that I'm a week late. I had some stuff to take care of in my personal life and I didn't like the way I wrote this chapter originally and by the time it was done it was past Thursday so I decided to just skip a week.
Summary: Tessa wakes up from her night with Bucky. Now she has to try and be sneaky about it so that Emily doesn't find out.
Tessa let out a moan as she slowly woke up, the sunlight hit her eyes and she quickly pulled the blanket up over her head in an attempt to block out the sun. She reached out and touched Bucky's side of the bed feeling that it was still cold which meant that either he still wasn't home or he just hadn't come back to bed. Sam had called him extremely early in the morning telling him that a transport van holding the remaining members of the Flag Smashers had exploded and they wanted him and Bucky to help investigate how it happened. She was about to fall asleep when the urge to go to the bathroom hit and with a sigh she pulled the blanket back and got out of bed. She threw her clothes back on not wanting Emily to see her naked and made a beeline for the bathroom door.
As she sat down on the toilet she let out a sigh of relief before the rest of her started to wake up. She let out a groan as various parts of her started to hurt. She made a mental note to start stretching more before she slowly stood up and headed towards the tub. She figured that soaking in some nice warm water for a few minutes would help ease her still sore muscles and she could clean off the stickiness that was still on her thighs. Once the water was at the level she wanted it she turned it off and got undressed before slowly getting into the tub, her muscles started to relax as soon as she sat down in the tub and she leaned her head back to rest on the tub.
She could hear Emily singing along to one of Bucky's records as she cooked in the kitchen. She closed her eyes and went over a mental checklist of what she needed to do that day. She needed to head back to her apartment and contact her insurance company about the damage done to it so that they could pay for it and so she could grab a few more clothes from her dresser. While she waited for the repairs to be made, and then she wanted to head to the store to stock up on food since she'd be staying there a while and it didn't feel right to just eat all of Bucky's food especially since super soldiers need twice the amount of food as everyone else. And then she realized what else she'd have to pick up while she was out, she sunk down into the tub a bit as she realized that she was going to have to buy a box of Plan B and do her best to avoid the cashier's gaze as she acted like what she had done the night before was no big deal.
Suddenly there was a knock on the bathroom door "Hey Tess. I was thinking that we could go out and run some errands after breakfast since Bucky still hasn't made it back yet and since we didn't get our girl's night out." Emily called out. Oh great just another person to know now.
"Okay Em sounds good." Tessa called back hoping that she sounded convincing.
"Okay. Hurry up. I made your favorite and it's going to get cold." Emily said before walking away. Tessa stared up at the ceiling before letting out a sigh.
"If there's any Gods up there just strike me down now because I know that Thor won't do it." she said before she started to wash up.
Emily let out a gasp as she ran over to the pajama section and grabbed a hold of a nightgown that Tessa knew was to short for either one of them. "Tess look! Oh I bet Bucky would love to see you in this." she said as she pulled it off of the rack. She held it up to Tessa and you could automatically tell that it would barely cover her thighs. She wanted to tell Emily that she didn't need to wear somethign like that to get his motor going but thought better of it, she didn't want to talk about either one of their sex lives in the middle of a Walmart.
"I'll think about it." Tessa said as she slowly put it back on the rack. Emily rolled her eyes and pushed the cart back towards the grocery section. While she was heading that way Tessa quickly turned and walked towards the medicine isle and looked for some Plan B. Her eyes went wide when she saw the price just to get a box but she grabbed one and quickly walked to the register.
"Good afternoon ma'am how are you today?" the lady asked ash she took the box and scanned it.
"I'm fine." Tessa said as she avoided making eye contact with her. The woman told her the total and Tessa quickly swiped her card and grabbed the bag after telling her that she didn't need a receipt. She hurried up and found Emily hoping that the other woman hadn't realized that she had been gone for several minutes.
"Where'd you go?" Emily asked as soon as Tessa caught up to her.
"I had to go to the bathroom." Tessa lied as she tucked the box into her pocket in the hopes that Emily wouldn't see it.
Tessa sat in Bucky's room as she read the instructions on the box. She could feel her stress level going up a she realized that she had wasted time running around with Emily and she had already almost wasted a whole day which according to the box gave the pills less of a chance of working in time. She quickly swallowed the pills washing it down with some water she had gotten from the kitchen earlier. "Tessa? I'm home." Bucky called out and Tessa let out a squeak as she dropped the box. She heard him walk down the hallway and she quickly bent down to pick the box up when his bedroom door opened up and she felt his arms wrapping around her almost automatically.
He heard the box as he hugged her and he pulled away and looked down to see her looking down at the now smashed box in her hands. "Oh jeez I'm sorry I didn't know you had something in your hands." he said as he looked down at it. "What is this?" he asked as he pulled the box out of her hands, she watched as he turned the box this way and before stopping and looking right at the front again. "What's Plan B?" he asked and Tessa let out a sigh.
"It's a pill to make sure I don't get pregnant." she said not wanting to look at him.
"Pregnant? Oh. Um. Tessa. I don't think that I can have children. Hydra did so many different things to me I wouldn't be surprised if it's just not a possibility for me." he said as he handed the box back to her.
"Yeah well better safe then sorry." she mumbled as she put it on his dresser. Bucky raised an eyebrow at her before he shook his head and let out a sigh.
"I have something to tell you so you might want to sit down." he said as he scratched the back of his neck. Tessa quickly sat down and looked up at him afraid of what he was going to say. "So, the transport van that exploded was transporting all of the Flag Smashers to jail…Travis was in that van." he told her. He watched as a look of shock crossed her face and he slowly sat down beside her. "Are you okay? I mean I know that whenever I realized that basically everyone that hurt me was dead and I wasn't going to get the justice I want isn't going to happen that it drove me crazy for a while." he said as he gently put an arm around her.
"I don't…I don't know how to feel…I feel relief at knowing that he's never going to be able to hurt me again but at the same time I'm angry that he's never going to actually pay for what he's done." she said as she stared down at the floor. Bucky let out a sigh and nodded his head, he knew that it was going to take her a while to get over the shock and that there would be several different emotions that she would go through before she would eventually go on and look like she's getting on with life but he knew that in truth that it would probably plague her for the rest of her life.

Summary: What was going on with Tessa and Emily while Sam and Bucky fought the Flag Smashers
Tessa watched from the police department’s waiting room as the news reported on the fact that the Flag Smashers had kidnapped members of the GRC and she knew that at the rate that Karli had escalated that they were probably going to kill them. She had been waiting in the room with Bucky and Emily to give their statements when Sam had gotten a hold of Bucky and told him that he was on his way to help. A nearby cop had agreed to take Bucky to where the Flag Smashers were holding everyone and Bucky had left with a kiss and a promise to be back soon before following the cop out the door. She was sitting beside Emily waiting for Happy to come pick them up to take them back to Bucky’s apartment when they saw the camera focusing on someone fighting on top of a building under construction, at first they couldn’t make out who it was but when the camera zoomed in on them Emily let out a gasp “Oh my God Tessa. Bucky’s on top of that thing!” she said before covering her mouth. Both of them watched as Bucky fought one of the Flag Smashers onto of the building before he was hit with enough force to send him flying backwards, they could see sparks coming from his vibranium arm as he tried to slow his momentum and to cling to the building but he was going too fast and Tessa let out a scream as she watched Bucky go over the edge and fall.
Emily watched with wide eyes and an open mouth as he let out a scream as he fell before she had to look away while she tried to comfort Tessa. Sensing that watching the news coverage was causing her stress one of the officers allowed the two of them to move into an interrogation room that wasn’t being used at the moment so that they didn’t have to see or hear what was going on. “He’s dead! I just watched him die!” Tessa sobbed out.
“He’s not dead. He fell from a higher distance than that and all he did was lose his arm.” Emily said in an attempt to comfort her. Tessa wanted to be mad at her and to yell at her about how she couldn’t promise that until she realized that she was right, everyone knew that Bucky had survived the fall from the train for the most part. There had been times when he had been down that he would tell her that sometimes he wished that the fall had killed him. Happy arrived around the same time that Tessa had finally calmed down being none the wiser as to what she had just seen happen. He drove them to Bucky’s apartment, as soon as she had unlocked the door Tessa found herself cuddling up to Alpine who was purring the whole time while she bopped Tessa’s head with her own before looking around obviously wondering where Bucky was.
“Dad’s not with us right now. He’ll be home later.” She told her hoping that she wasn’t lying to the little cat. Alpine looked up at her for a second before she let out one last meow and jumped down to go and get some food. Emily and Happy stayed up as late as they could to help keep her mind off of the fact that Bucky was off fighting a bunch of super soldiers before Emily started to drift off. Happy woke her up and directed her towards the guest room before he excused himself and left heading towards May and Peter’s apartment for the night. Tessa popped in one last movie before she finally felt herself starting to get tired, she rinsed out the glass she had been drinking from before turning the lights off and heading into Bucky’s room.
She stripped down to nothing figuring that if Bucky was okay that he probably wouldn’t be home until early the next morning. She crawled underneath the covers before getting comfortable and turning the light off, Alpine jumped up onto the bed and curled up next to her purring the whole time before she fell asleep. Tessa stared up at the ceiling for a second as she debated with herself on if she would check the news to see what was going on or not before she decided to not worry herself anymore and set her alarm before she went to sleep. While she slept Bucky arrived home and he headed to his bathroom stripping out of his combat gear the whole way before he flipped the light on and walked inside of his bathroom and turned his shower on. Once he was sure the water was at the temperature that he wanted he stepped underneath the stream of water and let out a sigh as the hot water hit his skin and helped his muscles to relax.
Once he had cleaned the dirt and blood off of his skin and out of his hair he turned the water off and stepped out of the shower before grabbing a towel and wrapping it around himself while heading to his room. He opened the door not noticing Tessa laying in his bed until he got changed into his underwear and climbed into bed. Tessa turned around with a gasp and looked up at him for a minute or two as her sleep addled mind told her that yes Bucky really was home. She turned to face him better before pulling him down for a kiss, she could hear him let out a little laugh before he returned her kiss. He gently stroked her cheek when he noticed that she didn’t seem to have a shirt on.
He slowly pulled the blanket back and grinned when he saw that she was indeed naked. “Is it my birthday again?” he whispered as he stared.
“James.” Tessa said sternly trying to get him to look at her.
“What?” he asked before giving her a kiss.
“Emily’s here.” Tessa said trying to come up with an excuse.
“Oh well then I guess we’ll have to be quiet huh?” he said before pushing her onto her back.
Emily woke up with a yawn and rubbed her eyes before getting out of the bed and walking out of the room to answer the call of nature. She passed by Bucky’s room on the way and paused, she shifted a bit wondering if she had stepped on a loose board before she heard the noise again. Her eyes went wide and she had to cover her mouth to stifle a giggle before she quickly walked towards the bathroom deciding not to say anything to Tessa because she knew that she’d be self-conscious about the whole situation.

This One Is Not A Test ch. 20

Summary: Tessa and Emily are supposed to be having a girl's night but there's an unexpected visitor and Tessa decides to finally stand up for herself.
Tessa was tidying up her apartment, it had been at least a week since she had gone down to Delacroix with Bucky and before they left Bucky had told Sam that if he had any intel on the Flag Smashers to call him and let him know and he’d show up but so far none of them had heard anything so as far as they were concerned everything was back to normal. They had been going back and forth in whose apartment they stay at but right now she was getting ready for Emily to come over to have a girl’s night so Bucky had headed back to his apartment while Tessa stayed behind to wait for her. She had just put the last dish away when she heard her buzzer go off, she already knew that it was Emily since she had just got a text from her saying that she was just turning the corner. She walked over and hit the button to let her in before going back to clean some more things, a minute later there was a knock on her door and she walked over and unlocked it before opening it. “Hey Em” She said with a smile that quickly dropped “what’s wrong?” she asked when she saw the tears rolling down Emily’s cheeks.
“I’m so sorry Tess.” Emily said with a hiccup before she was pushed inside of the apartment by Travis. Tessa just stared at him in shock as she backed up until the back of her knees hit her couch and she fell into a sitting position. Tessa looked up at him before slowly looking down at Emily a feeling of betrayal creeping up until she realized that she didn’t really have anything to do with him being there.
“What is this about?” she asked trying to hide her fear. Travis stared at her for a second before he let out a laugh.
“This is about how you’re going to get on your phone and call up your newest boy toy and tell him to come to your apartment or else he can sit back and listen as I squeeze the air from your throat.” Travis said before hovering over her in an attempt to scare her.
“And why would I call him and ask him to come here? So that I can watch him kick your ass? Let me make some popcorn first.” She said before going to slowly stand up. Travis grabs her and throws her back onto the couch.
“Sit your ass down and just get a hold of him.” He sneers and Tessa looks at him in shock before pulling her phone out. She looked at it for a second before looking at him and tossing her phone behind the couch. “Why you little.” And before she has time to react she’s on the floor laying there in shock as she holds her face where Travis had just back handed her. She could hear Emily crying now while Travis stormed over to where her phone had landed before he angrily picked it up off of the floor “I’m not fucking joking with you. Call. Him.” He said before tossing it at her and hitting her in the cheek with her phone. She pushed the phone away from him before glaring up at him.
“I’m done listening to you.” She said as she slowly stood up. She could see the hatred and anger in his eyes but she had made a decision a long time ago. “I am done being afraid of you.” She said which was definitely wasn’t what he wanted to hear because a second later his hands were around her throat and he was squeezing as hard as he could. Neither one of them noticed Emily crawling towards her phone before she grabbed it and quickly called Bucky.
“Hey sweetheart what’s up? How’s your girl’s night going with Emily?” he asked as soon as he picked up.
“Bucky it’s me Emily. Travis is here and he’s hurting Tessa. You need to get here.” She said fighting back a sob.
“What? How the hell did he get in?” he demanded.
“He found out that I was coming over somehow and he followed me. He grabbed me and he told me that he’d hurt me if I said anything to warn her.” She sobbed out.
“I’m on my way.” He said before hanging up. Emily put the phone down and looked up at Travis.
“Okay I called him! Just let her go! Please!” she begged and Travis turned to her.
“Sorry it’s not going to work that way. I told her that she had to call him not you. I wonder how he’ll feel to find his little whore dead on the ground from a broken neck.” He said with a smile. While he had been taunting Emily his grip had loosened just enough for Tessa to get a gulp of air, she quickly tapped the bracelet that Tony had given her before balling up her fist and pulling it back before punching him square in the jaw with the glove that was now covering her hand. In surprise he let go of her before holding his jaw and looking at her in shock “You hit me! You little bitch you hit me!” he shouted before charging at her, Tessa ducked out of the way and used his own momentum against him to send him flying into the wall. She thought that she had knocked him out and had started to relax when she saw him getting back up.
“Oh what the hell?” she mumbled as she got ready to go another round with him. At the same time that Travis turned to face her again the sound of the buzzer went off and Emily quickly ran over and hit the button to let Bucky in. A second later there was a thumping on the door and Emily quickly opened it to let him in, as soon as the door was open Bucky was inside. He paused only for a moment confused as to the scene in front of him he could see bruises starting to bloom on Tessa’s neck but he could also see one on Travis’s jaw. A second after he had looked at the two of them Travis went to swing at him but he was caught by Tessa who used his momentum again to send him flying over her couch.
When Travis got up again Bucky grabbed him and pulled him over the couch and before either Tessa or Emily could do anything the two men were in a full on brawl. Both Emily and Tessa watched as the two of them threw each other around the room putting holes in her walls the whole time but neither one of them seeming to grow tired. “Something’s not right. With this. How the hell is Travis keeping up with a super soldier?” Tessa whispered to Emily who just shrugged her shoulders. Travis and Bucky knocked each other back both bloody and starting to get a bit tired, seeing that he wasn’t going to get anywhere with fighting Bucky Travis turned back towards Tessa and charged at her again. Bucky grabbed a hold of him and knocked him to the ground just in time pinning him down to the floor both of the men breathing heavily.
Seeing that Travis wasn’t going to give up Tessa tapped the bracelet that Tony had given her one more time and it covered her arm in the gauntlet that was stored inside of it and she pointed the blaster right at Travis’s head. He took one look at the blaster and started to laugh “Do it. Come on, do it. You won’t, you have to have a man save you just like always.” He said with a laugh. Bucky could hear the blaster powering up and he reached a hand out to try and stop her.
“Tessa don’t!” he yelled as he tried to smack her hand away but it went off and he watched Travis collapse to the ground, he quickly checked on him and found that Tessa had only hit him with a blast hard enough to knock him out. He looked up to see Tessa standing nearby with tears rolling down her eyes before she collapsed to her knees and held her hand with the gauntlet still on it close to her chest. Bucky got up and slowly walked over to her before wrapping his arms around her and looks up at Emily “Go and call the police. If the fucker wakes up I’ll knock him back out.” He told her as he handed her Tessa’s phone before going back to holding Tessa.

This One Is Not A Test ch. 19

Summary: Just a quick filler chapter where everyone comes to help fix up the boat to get it up and running faster.
Tessa slowly opened her eyes when she heard AJ and Cass laughing and giggling to themselves. She turned her head and saw the two of them playing with the shield and she knew that she'd have to say something to keep them from hurting themselves "Hey." Bucky said sleepily and Tessa turned to see him awake with his arm in the air.
“Oh crap!” one of the boys said as she heard them drop the shield.
“Put it back!” the other said and she turned to watch the two boys scramble to put the shield back before they ran off. She heard Bucky let out a sigh before he got off of the air mattress that Sarah had given them to sleep on before he got up and walked over to put the shield back in its bag.
“So how’d you sleep last night?” Tessa asked as she slowly stretched and got off of the bed, she folded up the blanket and pulled the plug on the bed to deflate it when Bucky walked up behind her.
“Great actually. I didn’t wake up screaming from any nightmares, hell I didn’t even have a nightmare. And I had the most beautiful woman sleeping beside me most of the night.” He said as he wrapped his arms around her and kissed her neck.
“Most of the night?” she asked with a laugh.
“You’ve got a tiny bladder sweetheart. I think I counted three trips to the bathroom in less than an hour at one point.” Bucky said before jumping away from her hand.
“Shut up. You act like you didn’t get up a few times last night to go to the bathroom.” She said.
“Okay you two if you’re going to do something then go get a hotel room don’t do it here.” Sam said as he walked into the room. Tessa stuck her tongue out at him before giving Bucky a quick kiss on the cheek and moving towards the kitchen “Where do you think you’re going?” Sam asked and she stopped before turning to them.
“I was going to make breakfast.” She said as she pointed towards the stove.
“Nope. You’re a guest and guests don’t cook while they’re here.” Sam said as he pushed her out of the kitchen. Before she could argue the point anymore Sam had pulled out several pans and set to work on making breakfast for everyone.
“Sam there’s more than just Bucky and I coming down to help with the boat.” Tessa said as she tried to get back into the kitchen.
“I know. I prepared well ahead of time because Jess warned me. I went out and bought enough for me to make breakfast for everyone.” Sam said as he waved her away again. And true to his word Tessa watched as he prepared breakfast for everyone. The first ones to show up were Tony, Pepper and Peter who each took their plates with a thanks before they went and sat down at the table, Steve and Natasha showed up next and everyone let out a laugh when Nat pointed out that this was the second time that Sam had fed them out of the blue. Bruce and Thor showed up with some of the citizens of New Asgard along with the Guardians who each took a plate, Peter and Nebula did their best to explain what the different things on their plate were to Drax and Mantis who sniffed the bacon Sam had given them before taking a bit and exclaiming that it was the best stuff they had ever had. Jess and Opal showed up around the same time that Clint did with his family, all of them grabbed a plate and found somewhere to sit when Sam finally grabbed a plate for himself and sat in-between Sarah and Cass who had grabbed their food when Bruce and Thor arrived.
Everyone sat together and talked for about an hour before everyone cleaned their plates up at the sink and headed down towards the dock to work with the rest of Delacroix to finish fixing up the boat. Bucky reached over and grabbed a hold of Tessa’s right hand before bringing it up and giving her knuckles a kiss with a smile before he pulled on her to get her to walk a bit faster before they were running at a good pace “First one to the boat gets to drive it when it’s started up!” he called out making sure Sam heard him.
“Oh no you don’t!” Sam shouted before chasing after them with Jess close on his heels.
“If anyone gets to drive that boat first it’s me!” she called out with a laugh. Tony looked at Pepper with a raised eyebrow.
“Are we sure that Barnes is 106 years old?” he asked and Pepper nudged him with her elbow.
“Jealous that he’s much older than you and he can out run you?” she asked.
“Out run me? Oh we’ll see about that.” He said before taking off at a slower pace. Everyone laughed when he tripped over his own two feet and rolling down the hill a bit before he stopped and just laid down on the ground.

Summary: Sam and Tessa head down to Delacroix to deliver the suit to Sam and end up getting sucked into helping him fix up his boat.
Tessa sat beside Bucky in the car as the Uber driver pulled up to the dock that Sam's boat was held at. She had been staring out the window and watched the scenery go past them on the way, she had never been to Louisiana and the part that they had landed in wasn't what she had expected. There were only a few houses and Tessa wouldn't have been surprised if Sam knew everyone in Delacroix. She was pulled out of her thoughts when she felt Bucky nudge her before he got out of the car and opened the trunk to pull the suitcase out before shutting it and walking around to the side she was sitting on and opening the door before helping her out. They thanked the driver and after he pulled away they started heading down the dock in search of the boat that Sam owned.
In the distance they could see a group of people gathered around a giant container "Okay so how are we going to get this off of the truck?" Tessa heard Sam ask and she watched as everyone just shrugged, she looked around but she didn't see a crane or anything that could lift it off of the truck.
"Watch that for a second." Bucky said as he sat the suitcase beside her before walking over to the truck and picking the container up. Tessa bit her bottom lip to stifle a giggle as she watched Bucky easily carry it over to where he was sure they wanted it and put it down while everyone but Sam watched him in amazement. "You're welcome." Bucky said and she let out a sigh before walking over to them with the suitcase in her hand. She could see Sam about to make some comment to Bucky and she decided to jump in to stop a potential fight.
"Hey Sam." she said as she handed Bucky the suitcase.
"Hey Tess. What are you two doing here?" he asked with a smile.
"Oh we were asked to drop something off for you." she said as Bucky put the suitcase down.
"Yeah so just sign for this thing and we'll get going." Bucky said sounding slightly annoyed. Both Sam and Tessa looked at him in shock.
"Going? But you guys just got here. Stay a while, I promise that no one is going to look at you weird because of your arm." Sam said while looking around. Bucky was about to argue that they couldn't stay but when he saw the look on both Sam and Tessa's faces he let out a groan.
"Alright we'll stay but only for one night." he said while holding up a finger before Tessa and Sam let out a cheer and Sam pulled her down the dock to show her his boat.
"They're just like little kids. You'll have to bring her down for more playdates." came a woman's voice from beside him. He turned to look at who was talking to him, there was an African-American woman that was about Tessa's height but slightly leaner than her beside him. She had on a pair of dark blue capri pants and a black 3/4 sleeve shirt that had some kind of pattern down up in silver. Her long black hair was done up in a braided ponytail and he could see some kind of flower sticking out from behind her right ear, he noticed that it was about to fall out and he went to fix it before stopping. She looked up at him questioningly "Did you need something?" she asked and Bucky pointed to his own ear.
"Your flower's going to fall out." he said and she let out an oh before she quickly adjusted it.
"Thanks. Sam's nephews gave it to me and I don't want to lose It." she said as she fought with it to stay in.
"Can I do something? I had little sisters growing up and they had a lot of boys giving them flowers that they'd put in their hair and I remember something they did to keep them in." he said as he held his hands out. She took the flower out and handed it to Bucky who carefully fixed her hair before putting the flower back in, he showed her to shake her head and once he was sure that it wasn't going to fall out now he stepped back "You're all good." he said before the two of them started walking down the dock again. Up ahead they could see Tessa standing beside Sam as he introduced her to everyone that was standing around the dock. "I just realized that I never introduced myself." he said as he turned towards her and held his hand out.
"That's okay. I never introduced myself either. I'm Jessica." the lady said as she held her hand out. He took it and shook it and was about to introduce himself "I know who you are. While I don't know Tessa I do know Tony and Sam pointed at you and called you by name." she said when she noticed Bucky wincing. "Anyway I know that he's not going to say it but I'm sure that Sam really appreciates this. I know he had all of Delacroix here to help him but a lot of them are older and can't do a lot of heavy lifting." she said and Bucky raised an eyebrow.
"Are you asking me to help him?" he asked as they stopped to stand amongst the crowd.
"I guess I am." she said with a shrug. Bucky thought about it for a second before he shrugged back at her and joined the crowd. It turned out that asking Bucky for help had been a good idea, it was easier for him to pull stuff apart and with his vibranium arm they didn't have to worry about him getting splinters. Tessa helped out the best she could and both Jess and Sam caught Bucky and Tessa giggling between the two of them as they would toss a rag or splash each other. Everything was going smoothly and they were making good progress on the boat, the four of them were sitting on the boat Bucky and Sam were sipping on some beers while Jessica and Tessa sipped on some water when Sarah walked up. She was looking at a clipboard and saying something to Sam about something that had to do with the boat when she looked up and right at Bucky.
Both Jessica and Sam noticed that she was staring at him for too long and they both tried to clear their throats to get her attention. Bucky put his bottle down and stood up before slowly walking over to her "Hi. I'm Bucky." he said with a smile not wanting to look like an ass for not introducing himself again.
"I'm Sarah." she said before cracking a smile.
"Oh okay Sarah." he said before nodding his head as he committed her name to his memory. He turned to go sit back down and was shocked to see Tessa walking past him. "Tess where are you going?" he called out as she quickly walked down the dock.
"To the bathroom." she gently called back before she disappeared in the crowd. Jessica quickly put her bottle down and followed her knowing full well that she wasn't headed towards the bathroom. She found her amongst a few boxes and she could tell that she had been crying.
"Tessa?" she gently called out and she watched as the other woman's head lifted up before she quickly wiped at her eyes. "What's wrong?" she asked as she walked over and wrapped an arm around her.
"It's nothing. I just get.....not jealous really I guess. Just insecure." Tessa told her as she leaned into her.
"Because of what happened between Sarah and Bucky on that boat?" Jessica asked confused and Tessa nodded.
"I mean look at her. She's so well put together and actually makes an effort to make herself look nice. I threw on a pair of jeans that have seen better days and an old band t-shirt that used to belong to Tony. Hell I don't even own any makeup because I never bother putting any on." Tessa said before burying her face in her hands.
"And yet Bucky can't take his eyes or his hands off of you." Jessica said with a smile. Tessa stared at her and was about to say something to her when they heard someone calling out for Tessa.
"Tessa? Hey where'd you go? Did you get kidnapped or something?" Bucky called out as he wandered the dock looking for her. Jessica waved an arm in his direction and he walked over his jaw dropping for a second before a scowl crossed his face and he got down to eye level with them "What happened?" he asked and Jessica smiled at Tessa. Sam had told her a while ago that he was pretty sure that Bucky would willingly burn the world down for her. She watched as he quickly sat beside her before pulling her out of Jessica's arms so that he could wrap his around her better. Jessica watched as the two of them quietly talked between the two of them before Bucky carefully picked Tessa up "We'll be right back. We need some time alone okay?" he asked before walking off.
"Uh huh. Name it after me if it's a girl." she called out as she watched them walk away. Tessa let out a snort but Bucky turned around to look at her in confusion "Tessa will explain it to you while you're having your alone time old man." she said as she waved the two of them away. She watched them with a smile before she got up with a sigh and headed back towards the boat.

This One Is Not A Test ch. 17

Summary: Tessa gets to see the Dora up close and personal when they deliver a package to Bucky and both of them get to see Sam's new suit.
Tessa and Bucky had just finished up breakfast when there was a knock on his apartment door, Tessa looked at the door in confusion but Bucky just calmly wiped his mouth with a napkin before standing up and walking towards the door. A minute later she watched as several women that she realized were members of the Dora Milaje followed Bucky into the apartment, one of them was holding a giant silver briefcase which she sat on a nearby table. “Uyaqonda ukuba olu lubabalo olukhulu ukuba usicele.” The one woman said to him.
"Ndiyaqonda ndikholelwe. Bendingazuyibuza lento ukuba ibindim nje uSam udinga umntu okhoyo ozimiseleyo ukubonisa ukuba uyakholelwa kuye." Bucky said while Tessa just stared at him and the woman he was talking to in confusion.
"Uh. Buck what's going on?" she asked hoping for a translation. Both Bucky and the woman looked at her as if they had just noticed that she was standing beside them.
"This is Ayo. She was my......guardian when I was in Wakanda." he started with.
"So basically it was her job to take you down if Shuri hadn't gotten the trigger words out." Tessa said in understanding.
"You make it sound as if I would have killed him." Ayo said with a slight smirk.
"I know a bit about the Dora. I know that you're handpicked by the king from the moment you're a little girl to be trained to protect him." Tessa told her giving her a smirk back. Ayo raised an eyebrow at her and for a moment Bucky wondered if he was going to have to step in again.
"I thought I recognized you. You were with Stark when he was brought to Wakanda to have a new arm built for him. It's my understanding that you told him to be quiet when he kept trying to interfere while Shuri was working on his arm. So I'm surprised that you allowed James to release Zemo from his prison cell." Ayo said and Tessa had a slight feeling that the two of them might not end up as friends.
"I didn't let him. The bastard went and did it before I even found out about it. I had to through a news report." Tessa said before shooting a glare in Bucky's direction. He was sure that he was going insane but he swore that he had seen Ayo crack a smile at that before she cleared her throat.
"Seems like you have more people to apologize to other than just us." Ayo said before hitting the end of her spear off of the floor and Tessa watched as the other Dora lined up before walking out the door. Ayo took up the rear and was about to walk out before she stopped and turned to Tessa "Oh and the code for James' arm is the same as Tony's." she said before walking out. Tessa shut the door behind her before turning to Bucky who looked shocked and hurt.
"You know how to take my arm off?" he asked and she could hear the hurt in his voice.
"Apparently. Shuri showed Pepper and I how to take Tony's off in case she had any updates for it or if he wanted a break from having it on. Buck you do realize that most people that have a prosthetic take it off at night to give them a break right? Why would you expect it to not come off? Don't you have to charge it?" she asked and Bucky just shrugged.
"I never got a chance to get a run down. I just assumed that it was on here permanently. Honestly I felt kind of lopsided when Ayo took it off so I don't know if I'm going to take it off anytime soon. It's never shown any signs of powering down so I'm assuming that Shuri found a way to keep it from running out using the vibranium." he said as he moved his arm around to study it.
"So why did you seem so upset when Ayo said about me taking your arm off?" Tessa asked.
"Well it felt like the only reason why they put it in was because they didn't trust me. The only other arms I've had weren't supposed to come off." he told her.
"Well of course Hydra wouldn't have wanted your arm to come off that's too much of a hassle which makes me wonder how that arm even worked. Did they have to plug you in to a wall outlet somewhere?" she asked with a smile that quickly faded when she saw the deadpan look he gave her.
"No there was a little crank on the side that they used." he said and he couldn't help but to laugh when he saw the look on her face.
"What's so damn funny?" she demanded with her hands on her hips.
"You really believe that? Tess I have no clue how they kept it running." he said before covering his mouth when he let out a snort.
"Stop being an ass and let me see what they brought." Tessa said as she walked over to the suitcase.
"It's a new suit for Sam. Walker ripped the wings off of his old one and honestly it didn't scream Captain America to me." Bucky said before popping the latches open and slowly lifting the lid. Tessa looked in the suitcase before letting out a gasp and turning to Bucky.
"Okay I have to admit. That screams Captain America to me." she said as she touched the suit.

This One Is Not A Test ch. 16

Summary: Everyone sits down to watch Walker's trial and Bucky comes home to spend some time with Tessa.
A/N: Since this is the last chapter I'm posting before the holiday hits I want to say to those of you who celebrate it Merry Christmas/Kwanzaa.
Tessa sat in the living room with Tony and Pepper ready to watch the broadcast on Walker’s trial. They weren’t allowed to have cameras in the courtroom but she knew that there’d be reporters inside that would tell everyone what exactly happened, they watched as a car pulled up and both John and Olivia got out. Olivia took his arm and walked up the steps with him, a few reporters tried to stop him to ask him questions but they ignored them. A few people waved signs at them and even shoved it in their faces, Tessa remembered when Bucky was on trial and people had jeered at him and waved homemade signs at him wishing death on him. As they were watching them walk into the building they heard the sound of car tires crunching on the gravel outside and a minute later they heard someone walk up the driveway while the car pulled away.
There was a knock on the door and Tony got up to see who had shown up uninvited. Pepper and Tessa waited for a little bit, as if she could sense who it was Alpine came bolting down the steps letting out a long cry while she headed towards the direction of the front door. A minute later Tony walked back into the living room followed by Bucky who had Alpine in his arms, she was happily purring away while rubbing her head all over him. Tessa got up off of the couch and ran over to wrap her arms around Bucky who wrapped the arm not holding Alpine to him around her. Pepper noticed the look on Tony’s face when Bucky bent down just enough to give Tessa a kiss, she nudged him with her foot and when he looked at her she gave him a look that told him to be nice.
The television caught Bucky’s attention as soon as he pulled away “What are you guys watching?” he asked.
“We’re kind of watching Walker’s trial. They won’t let cameras in but there’s people inside that are reporting what’s going on.” Tessa said.
“They’re going to hang him out to dry. There’s no way the government’s ever going to admit to making a mistake.”
True to Bucky’s word they watched as the reporter that was outside of the courthouse announced that not only had they obviously stripped him of the title of Captain America but they had also taken his rank from him along with any benefits he would have been able to receive like Steve and Bucky were. Tessa would have felt bad but then she remembered the way he had treated Bucky and Sam, the way Olivia had acted like just because her husband was Captain America that Tessa should and would do what she wanted and then she remembered the Flag Smasher that was on the ground his back probably broken begging John for his life. And then it hit her, she waited until Pepper and Tony were out of the room before she turned to Bucky who was just staring at the screen “Bucky. Bucky. Hey Bucky. James,” She watched him slowly look in her direction “do you think that someone like say Sam or I could use that shield to easily cut someone in half?”
“I guess if you hit them enough times why?”
“I watched Walker kill that man. He only did it in a couple of swings. Do you think we could do that?” she watched him think it over.
“You? No, you don’t have the strength to do it. Sam might after a good dozen swings or so.”
“Oh John didn’t need a couple dozen swings.” Tessa said. Bucky thought about it, John had put up a better fight than Bucky and Sam had expected.
“There’s no way what you’re suggesting happened. Zemo destroyed all of the vials how would he be able to inject himself with any of the serum?”
“I don’t know. It was just a suggestion. I mean from the way you were talking about how he talked about the serum I doubt that he would have taken it. Maybe you’re just getting slow in your old age.” She teased. Bucky’s mouth dropped open at that and a second later Tony and Pepper heard Tessa let out a squeal before she started to laugh and beg Bucky to stop, Tony poked his head into the living room. Bucky had Tessa pinned under him and he was tickling her where ever there was exposed flesh “Stop! Bucky stop! Please!”
“Take it back!”
“Never!” Tony just grinned and shook his head before walking away.
“What’s going on?” Pepper asked as they heard Tessa let out a scream before there was the sound of a smack.
“Ow!”
“Keep your hands to yourself you pervert! We’re at Tony’s house!” Bucky must have heard Tony walking back to the living room because when he poked his head in to the living room Bucky was sitting up with his hands in the air.
“Getting fresh with my goddaughter Barnes?” he asked trying to look stern.
“I swear I didn’t mean to.” Bucky said with wide eyes.
“Uh sure. I get it. I’ve ‘accidentally’ gotten fresh with a few women too. If you’re going to do that than get a room.” He said. A second later Tessa let out a squeal as Bucky picked her up from the couch and slung her over his shoulder and started heading towards the steps “Not here! My daughter’s in her room she doesn’t need to hear the two of you going at it!” Tony said.
“You’re no fun Stark.” Buck groused as he put her down. He gave her a little wink before he smiled at Tony “I’m just joking Tony.” A second later he grabbed a hold of Tessa’s hand and pulled her out of the cabin.
“Where are we going?” Tessa asked.
“For some privacy.” Bucky said as he pulled her towards the lake. Tessa turned and looked back at the cabin, there was a window pointed right at the lake.
“I don’t know how much privacy we’re going to get.” She said as she sat down beside him. Bucky pulled her closer and gave a few kisses to the side of her head.
“I’ve missed you so much.” He whispered as he let out a sigh. Tessa snuggled closer to him and closed her eyes, neither one of them said anything for a few seconds before he cellphone went off. Both of them looked at each other in confusion before she pulled her phone out.
He needs to be further away from you. Tell him to leave room for Jesus. Tony texted. Tessa let out a snort and showed Bucky, he looked at the phone before turning and looking up at the cabin. Tessa turned and looked to see Tony standing at the window facing the lake, he was making hand gestures showing them to separate with a serious look on his face. Before Tessa knew what was happening Bucky pulled her into a kiss before he moved to her cheek and then down to her neck, a minute later they heard the front door slam open.
“You better take your hands off of my goddaughter Barnes!” Tony shouted as he stormed down towards the lake. Bucky let out a laugh and jumped away before running off towards the woods laughing at Tony the whole time. Tony stopped right beside Tessa glaring at Bucky the whole “If he can’t keep his hands to himself than he’s sleeping out in the shed.” He told her before he stalked back up to the cabin where Pepper was waiting with her hand on her hips. After about fifteen minutes Bucky came back from the woods.
“So what did the grumpy old man have to say?” he asked as he pulled her close again.
“That if you can’t keep your hands to yourself that you’re going to have to sleep in the shed.”
“Oh so he’s giving us more of an opportunity for some privacy.” A second later Bucky let out a yelp as he felt cold water splash up into his face. “What the hell?”
“Thought you needed some cooling down. You’re a hundred and seven not a teenager.” Tessa said as she watched him wipe his face off.
“Bucky! Tessa! It’s time to eat!” Pepper called out. As soon as they heard the word food both of them jumped up and raced each other to the cabin laughing the whole way.

This One Is Not A Test ch. 15

A/N: Since I'm not going to be posting another chapter before it starts I just wanted to wish a happy Hanukkah to those of you who celebrate it.
Summary: Karli finds out about Tessa along with Sarah and the boys and she has to go into hiding with Tony. While she's hiding she sees the video someone took of Walker killing a member of the Flag Smashers.
“Come on Tessa, come on. Answer the phone.” Bucky said with a groan as he listened to the constant ringing. Somehow Karli had found not only found out about Sarah and the boys but Tessa as well and according to Sarah she had threatened all four of them. He hung up as soon as it went to voicemail before hitting the button to call her again, Sam had been able to get a hold of Steve and he had agreed to take Sarah and the boys to DC to keep an eye on them until it was safe again. Sam was on the phone explaining the situation to Tony while Bucky did his best to try and get a hold of Tessa to tell her to back up a week or two’s worth of clothes just to be safe but she wasn’t answering which caused his heart to sink. A whole bunch of what ifs popped up in his head and he mentally kicked himself for not being there to protect her.
“Hello?”
“Tessa finally.” He let out a sigh of relief.
“What’s going on? You sound worried.” She asked, Bucky turned to Sam who nodded his head and mouthed Happy before turning his attention back to the phone and Tony.
“I don’t know how but Karli found out about you. I don’t know what she’s planning on doing to you but she threatened you. Happy’s going to pick you up after work and take you back to your apartment. Pack up enough clothes and other things to last you a week or two because he’s taking you to Tony’s after you grab Alpine.” There was silence on the other end and he was worried that she hadn’t heard him.
“Why would she come after me?”
“Because of me. I got involved in all of this so now she’s going to try and hurt you to get at me.” He admitted. He expected her to start shouting at him but instead she got quieter.
“Okay. I was just about to clock out so I’ll just wait here.” She said and he heard the sound of something beeping followed by her turning her lock and opening and closing her locker door before he heard her walk out of the room.
“Okay. Just be careful alright? Please.”
“Hey compared to what you’re probably going through right now I think I’m in the eye of the storm right now. So I think if either one of us needs to be careful it’s you.”
“I’m always careful.”
“Uh huh. I doubt it.” The two of them laughed at that and said their good-byes before hanging up. Happy showed up rather quickly and took her to her apartment before going to Bucky’s to pick up Alpine and taking her to Tony’s cabin.
Two days later Tessa was in Morgan’s room playing with Alpine when Tony quietly walked over, one look at his face told her that whatever it was was not good news. “Hey Tony what’s up?”
“I need you to see something out in the living room.” He said quietly. A bit concerned now Tessa put Alpine on the floor and followed him out. Morgan started to follow but Tony put a finger up “Not you. This is something only for adults.” He said before they walked away. Pepper was standing in the living room biting at her thumb nail and staring at the television.
“Two days ago John Walker also known as Captain America was caught on video chasing down and killing a man. Apparently he believed that the man was responsible for killing his partner Lamar Hoskins while they were trying to apprehend the terrorist group known as the Flag Smashers. We have video proof of the incident, but we do have to warn you that those with young children might want to send them out of the room right now.” The man on the television said, they paused for a minute so that parents could send their kids away before they started the video. The video started with a woman standing by a fountain with a young boy on her right side and a young girl on her left, they were smiling and laughing and seemed to be having a good time when there was a commoction behind them. They turned around to see what was going on as did the person taking the video, Tessa watched as a man ran through the crowd shouting something a second before she watched the shield come flying towards him and hitting him square in the back possibly breaking his spine. She heard the man let out a shout of pain as he fell before John Walker came into view, she couldn’t see the man very well since he had fallen onto the steps of the fountain but she could hear him now that everyone had gone quiet.
“No! No! Please! It wasn’t me! I didn’t kill him! Please! It wasn’t me!” she could see the tips of his fingers in the air as he begged for his life just as Walker raised the shield. The woman let out a scream and covered the children’s eyes at the same time he slammed the shield down onto the man. Tessa let out a gasp as he did so before covering her mouth, she could hear the sounds of the shield hitting the man and the inhuman noises coming from him as he struggled to breathe. His legs twitched every time Walker brought the shield down and she could see his blood running beside his leg right before he stopped making any noises. Walker didn’t stop though, she watched as he brought the bloodied shield down onto the man a few more times before a thunk could be heard from the shield hitting the stone underneath.
“Jesus fucking Christ he cut him in half.” Tony said in horror. They watched as he calmly put the shield back on his arm and stared at everyone as if daring them to say or do something at that moment. She watched as Sam and Bucky came running up to late to stop him, she watched as Sam looked from John to the now dead Flag Smasher and back while Bucky ran his hands through his hair and looked at the ground while shaking his head. Before either one of them could say or do anything John took off and a second later she watched as they followed after him. Tessa left the room right as the video stopped, she pulled her phone out tapped on Bucky’s name in her contacts.
She listened to the phone ring a few times while her heart pounded in her chest “Hello?” Bucky sounded tired but at least she knew that he was still alive.
“Bucky where are you?”
“I’m headed towards the Sokovia Memorial. Zemo slipped away a few days ago and I’m pretty sure that’s where he’s headed.”
“What happened with Walker?” there was a slight pause.
“What are you talking about? Nothing’s going on with Walker.”
“Bucky there’s a video of him killing a man on the television. I watched you and Sam chase after him.”
“Yeah we went to stop him to keep him from hurting anyone. It took a while but we got the shield back from him. From what I understood they arrested him and he’s getting sent back to the states to stand trial. Not sure what they’re going to do to him but the government’s going to want to make themselves look good.”
“Are you coming home after you deal with Zemo?”
“Yeah I’ll catch the next plane home after I’m done with him. Why? Miss me already?”
“Well that and as much as I love Tony I’d feel a little bit better if I had a super soldier around to protect me from another super solider.”
“Ah I see. So it’s my muscles you like. And here I thought you liked me for my personality.” He said faking hurt, she was ready to defend until she heard him laughing.
“Oh shut up. Go hunt Zemo down and just hurry home smart ass.” She said before hanging up.
“So what did he say?” Tony asked.
“He said that they got the shield back from Walker and that he’s been arrested. Bucky thinks the government’s going to try to make themselves look good in all of this by punishing him.”
“Well knowing the government like I do I’d say that that’s a fair guess. They’re not going to admit that they messed up so they’re going to point the finger at their new puppet. It’s why Steve quit being Cap.”
“I guess this will be a learning moment for Walker then.” Tessa said before she went back to Morgan’s room.

This One Is Not A Test ch. 14

Pairing: Bucky x OFC
Summary: Tessa's still not talking to Bucky but she is still talking to Sam and he has a question for her concerning Bucky.
Bucky sipped on his drink while he and Sam looked around at the party goers. Tessa still hadn’t called or sent him a text which meant that she was still made at him, “What’s up?” Sam asked noticing the look on his face.
“I just wish that Sharon would hurry up and figure out where this guy is.” He told him with a groan.
“Just give her some time. And I mean both Sharon and Tessa.”
“I didn’t say anything about Tessa.”
“No but I know that that’s the other reason why you’re so upset.” Bucky let out a sigh and looked back out at the crowd again. There were a lot of younger people there, like maybe mid to late 20’s or maybe a little bit older. The music wasn’t bad and he found himself tapping his foot along to it while he waited a few times, he kept telling Tessa and Steve that he’d try to give the 21st century stuff a better chance but it was slow going. He was looking down at his phone not paying attention to what was going on around him when he felt someone place their hands on his legs. He looked over and saw a woman with long blonde hair and gray eyes staring up at him, she was leaning down so that she was leaning on his legs. She was biting her bottom lip between her teeth and when he looked her over more he could see that she was wearing a tube top and a mini skirt. She was swaying her hips from side to side as she moved her hands up a bit further and he knew what she was reaching for.
“Hey big guy. Want to go find a private room and have a little fun?” she asked while licking her lips. He watched as her right hand reached up and started to rub along his crotch.
“Yeah sorry not interested.” He said as he pushed her hand away.
“Oh come on. Why not?”
“Because I have a girlfriend.” He said without hesitation.
“Is she here?”
“No.”
“Well then what she doesn’t know won’t hurt her.”
“I said no.” he said pushing her away now. The woman was about to protest when Sharon came up to them.
“Pretty sure he said no. How about you move on to your next victim?” she said with a glare. The woman sized up Sharon before turning and leaving, she turned to look at Bucky who was trying to calm his nerves. “Are you okay?” she didn’t know what had happened to him in his past with Hydra but from what she could gather after she had seen the way he had acted after their little encounter with Shelby and Sam telling her that Zemo had told her that Bucky would do whatever she wanted she had a feeling that more than just having his memories wiped and being beaten had gone on. She could see it now, there were tears in his eyes and he was taking deep breaths. He looked around the room as if expecting someone else to come up and touch him and he was slightly rocking himself in an effort to soothe himself.
“I’m fine.” He said while looking down at the ground. Sam and Sharon looked at each other worriedly. Sam watched as Sharon walked around them giving Bucky plenty of space before she leaned over and said something to the bartender. The man quickly nodded his head and walked over to a water cooler and filling a glass with ice and water before handing it to Sharon. She walked back over to them and held the glass out to Bucky who just stared at it for a second before taking it and sipping at it. Neither one of them missed that his hands were shaking.
“Hey. No one is going to do anything to you while Sam and I are here okay?” Sharon asked. Bucky shook his head yes before taking another sip of his water. A second later someone walked up to Sharon and whispered some in her ear before walking away “Well good news. I know where to find Nagel. Let’s go find Zemo and see what he has to say.”
As soon as Zemo’s jet took off Bucky stretched out as best as he could in the chair he was in and a few minutes later they could hear him softly snoring. “So are you proud of yourself for bringing up what was obviously a traumatic memory for him.” Sam asked Zemo as he watched him sleep.
“I did what had to be done.”
“Sure you did.” Sam said before he pulled his phone out. He pulled up Tessa’s name from his contacts How much did Bucky tell you about what he went through with Hydra? It took a few minutes but eventually she replied.
The same as everyone else, they would electrocute him to wipe his memories, before they programmed him they would beat and torture him almost every single day. Why?
As he told you anything about what they made him do?
Sam, we both know that they sent him out to kill people. Why? What is going on? Sam let out a sigh, she was going to find out one way or another and better she find out now.
Okay don’t be mad but he had to pretend to be the Winter Soldier again so that we could talk to someone in Madripoor. Zemo made a comment about him doing whatever the woman wanted and ever since then he’s been acting shaky.
Shaky?
Well we found Sharon or rather she found us. She’s in Madripoor, anyway she was entertaining some clients while she looked for the guy that made the new serum and one of the women came up and tried to……..entice him. He was fine until she got handsy.
Handsy.
Yeah, tried to get him excited. Sharon jumped in just in time but he was shaking after that. I don’t want to speculate especially if it isn’t true but. The way he was acting makes me think that he was.
Was what Sam? Are you really implying that they……
Yeah. I don’t have any proof of it but I think Zemo might. Sam looked over at Zemo who was starting to doze off. “Hey. Hey Zemo.” He softly called of not wanting to wake up Bucky. Zemo blinked a few times before he turned his attention to Sam “What did you mean when you said that Bucky would do whatever she wanted? You were just talking about killing someone right?” Zemo seemed to think it over for a few seconds before he let out a sigh.
“I think it would be more humane to let James tell you himself. I don’t think that would be trauma that he’d want to relive right now. Just give him time and maybe he’ll tell you someday about everything that happened to him.
“So you don’t know either.”
“Oh no I know. It’s just not my place to say.” As if to get his point across Zemo turned and faced the window before getting comfortable and closing his eyes. Sam looked over at Bucky who was curled up in the fetal position his back pressed up against the wall of the plane as if he was trying to protect himself. Sam closed his eyes and took a deep breath before he repositioned himself and got as comfortable as he could get and went to sleep.

This One Is Not A Test ch. 13

A/N: I'm so sorry for being gone for so long. I found out back in Februrary that I was pregnant. I was planning on only being gone for two weeks while I got things settled with my doctor but between work and my pregnancy symptoms I just didn't have time to come back and post more chapters let alone write but I'm back now.
Bucky let out a groan as he got up off of the floor, he had tried to go back to sleep but the need to use the bathroom was stronger, so with a sigh he walked towards the bathroom hoping that he could get back to sleep once he was done. He stopped on his way back through when he stopped at his bedroom door, Alpine sat at the door looking at it sadly and it didn’t take long for him to hear the sounds of sniffling coming from the other side. “Tess? Tessa. Sweetheart, are you okay?” Bucky called out as he slowly opened the door. Alpine ran in and he heard the soft thump of her jumping up onto the bed; he followed her and saw Tessa sitting on the bed her arms wrapped around Alpine who was rubbing her head all over her. “What happened?” he asked worriedly. She looked up and wiped some of her tears away.
“I just had a bad dream.” She said dismissing him, instead he walked over and moved her so that he could sit behind her. As soon as he was situated he had her lean back onto his chest and wrapped his arms around her. As soon as he did she burst into tears again. “I saw them Buck.”
“Who?”
“My parents. I was back at my old house, and I heard them calling for me from their bedroom. I went in to see what they wanted and I found them on the floor again.” She sobbed.
“Oh, love. I’m sorry. No one should have to go through what you did.” He said as he held her closer. He held her as she cried herself back to sleep, shushing her every so often and stroking her head.
Tessa woke up with a yawn; she was slightly confused on why she was propped up on something moving. She turned her head just enough to see Bucky behind her. His head was resting on his pillow as best it could, and he was quietly snoring. She smiled to herself before she sat up and turned to face him better; she reached up and gently stroked his right cheek. He gave a soft hum and shifted in his sleep before settling down again. She had never seen him look so peaceful, and for a split second she could see that twenty-five-year-old young man that should have had the whole world ahead of him. She leaned over and gently kissed his cheek before carefully getting off the bed and heading to the kitchen with a sleepy Alpine walking beside her. She was doing her best to be quiet so that she didn’t wake him up just yet; she grabbed some eggs, milk, bacon, and bread and set to work making breakfast. She was almost done with her plate when she felt two arms wrap around her. “Why’d you leave?” he groggily asked her.
“I was hungry. Figured you would be too.” She said as she finished putting the food on her plate. She grabbed his plate and handed it to him. He gave her a few kisses before he turned, sat down at the table, and waited for her to join him. She poured two glasses of milk and handed him his before she sat down on the opposite side. They sat and talked and made plans for the day before they finished; the two of them worked on the dishes together before they got dressed and went out. There was a new movie playing and Bucky was chomping at the bit to take Tessa; of course it was a horror movie so it should have been an opportunity to put his arm around her, but he was taken by surprise when she only jumped once. “I’m a horror junkie. I never watched them when you were around because I figured it would upset you.” She said when she saw the pout on his face as they left.
“At least it was a good movie.” He said as he put an arm around her again. From the theater, they went to grab something to eat and then they walked around a nearby park to walk the food off. When it started to get dark they headed back to his apartment where she grabbed her stuff before he walked her home. As soon as they got to her apartment door she turned and gave him a quick kiss on the lips as she unlocked her door.
“I’ll see you later?” she asked, and he gave her a guilty look.
“Unfortunately not. Sam and I have a plan, and we’re heading out tomorrow.” He said.
“Oh. Okay.” She said as she looked down. “Well, I’ll see you when you get back then.” She said before giving him one last kiss and shutting her door. He stood there staring at her door with a smile before it dropped, and he put his head on the wall beside it.
“She’s going to be so fucking pissed at me.” He said before walking away.
Tessa was giving Alpine a treat when her phone went off. Bucky had dropped a copy of his keys off the other morning before leaving with Sam, not telling her where they were going or what they were doing. Steve and Nat had come by to spend some time with her and had accompanied her to the apartment; she pulled her phone out and unlocked it. The news app had alerted and she read the article once, then twice, and then a third time not believing what she was seeing the whole time. Steve had turned Bucky’s record player on and played one of his Nat King Cole records while relaxing in the living room with Natasha.
Baron Helmut Zemo Escapes From German Prison
Last night while guards were occupied with a fight that
had broken out during lunchtime Baron Helmut Zemo
escaped from his prison cell. At first, the guards weren’t
sure how he managed to get out until they noticed one
James Barnes walk past the prisoners before they started
to fight. Upon closer inspection, it seems like he tossed
something between the two inmates that caused them
to start fighting. As of right now, the whereabouts of
Helmut Zemo, James Barnes, and Samuel Wilson are
unknown. If anyone has any information, they are
encouraged to notify the German police.
“Steve. Natasha. Did you know he was going to do this?” Tessa asked as she stormed into the living room.
“Did we know who was going to do what Tess?” Nat asked.
“Did you know that Bucky would break Zemo out of jail?” Natasha looked confused, and they turned to Steve who was looking at the floor. “Steve? Steve did you know?” she demanded, shoving her phone in his face.
“I knew he was going to talk to Zemo. I didn’t know that he’d free him.” Steve said, still not looking at them.
“Don’t bullshit me, Rogers. You already bullshitted Tony when it came to Bucky; don’t you dare do it to me.” She said with tears in her eyes.
“Okay, he told me that if he didn’t get the info he needed, he would try and break him free.” Steve said, and Nat let out a sigh while Tessa let out a groan and turned away from them before spinning around quickly.
“Why didn’t you talk him out of it?!?”
“Bucky’s stubborn, you know that. When he gets his mind set on something, there’s nothing he won’t do to achieve it.”
“They’re looking for them Steve! They’re going to find him and send him back to the Raft!” Tessa yelled before collapsing onto the couch. Nat glared at him as they could hear her softly crying before she sat beside her and wrapped her arms around her. As if on cue Tessa’s phone went off, and Nat looked at it.
“It’s Bucky.”
“I don’t want to talk to him.” Nat held the phone out to Steve, who let out a sigh and answered it.
“Hey, Tess.” Bucky said, and Steve let out a groan.
“It’s Steve Buck.”
“Steve? Where’s Tessa? Is she okay?”
“She’s fine for the most part. She found out that you freed Zemo, and she’s pissed. She doesn’t want to talk to you right now.”
“Just let me talk to her. If I explain it, she’ll calm down.” Steve looked at Tessa, who shook her head no.
“Sorry, Bucky. She doesn’t want to hear it. Just give her a few days to cool down. I’ll have her contact you when she’s ready to talk.” Steve said. He heard Bucky let out a sad sigh.
“Alright. I guess I’ll talk to you guys later.” Bucky said before hanging up.

Found out while I was at my doctor's appointment that Robbie Coltrane passed away today. Hagrid was one of my favorite characters in Harry Potter and Robbie did such a great job portraying him and I can't imagine anyone else playing him. I'm not sure what he passed away from and the fact that he was only in his early 70's is shocking and makes his passing just a bit harder. Rest in peace Robbie, I hope when my time finally comes that you're waiting to greet me when I step off of the Hogwart's Express.

Happy 71st birthday Robin Williams. The world seemed to get a little darker and less funny the day you died and normally I'd mourn but I know that isn't what you'd want so I'm going to laugh as much and as often as I can today.
