Namor’s Flight

Some concept for Black Panther : Wakanda Forever. Helping the director having a better view   on how Namor would fly. One of the keyword from director Ryan Coogler was « brutal »! So I developed something with more breaks and direction and speed changes. Not straight pace and path. One other inspiration was parkour. And instead of using real resistance and obstacles in thin air I thought about Namor being able to change the density of moisture all around him and using those « clouds » as springboard. I’m doing those « animations » from time to time on the movies. Different from usual concept art and quite challenging. But fun to do!!

We will kill the most diverse X-Men team this era has ever seen, but don’t worry, self-described genetic absolutist White Queen will avenge their deaths. The character whose first scene in this project was announcing her intention to act as the capitalist colonial arm of the mutant nation is never criticised or analysed properly for this, and in fact is rewarded with being the revolutionary leader, organising what needs to be done in the fight against the terrorist Orchis. We will show any critics of Krakoa to be nothing more than racist Nazi scum who die horrifying and darkly comedic deaths, to canonise our great and beautiful paradise ethnostate as the dream we all shared, that was ripped apart from us by jealous fools. Both powerful enough to pull off that feat, but not powerful enough to stop Kitty-now-Kate Pryde from going through a goddamn door. Simultaneously strong enough to defeat mutantkind at their strongest and proudest, and weak enough that they grovel for forgiveness the moment they’re defeated. These depictions are not unique to superhero comics–but ethnostates are. Using these tricks when you’re writing an era that’s opening moment sets up the direct comparison to Israel is, bluntly, disgusting, and shameful. It is disgusting if it is intentional, and it is still disgusting if it is accidental. The promise of an interesting story with a harrowing fallout is gone, and all that remains are the lies of fascists put in the mouths of characters whose revenge we are supposed to root for.

reading the comments on Athena P's muppets video and oh my god I cannot believe Kermit is Muppets Vision. Down to being mischaracterized to hell and back in most new material since the early 2010s and being a malewife turned divorcee with hints of misogyny. Dadneto is getting more cringe every other day.

Seriously the AXIS retcon and Marvel’s obsession to make Magnus family still a thing leads to all kinds of shit writing.(Not really in this particular case but still I don’t like the word used here.) I don’t mind Joseph’s writing here but seriously calling Magneto that is weird.

Because they lose the bloodties, now Marvel needs other justifications to still sell them as a family. To the point they need to conjure none-existent family affections for them(cough Trial of Magneto where Wanda acted like a timid teenage girl).

Let’s call Magneto Wanda’s adoptive father even though dude never raised her, unless you count being a shitty ex-boss as being a parent. Not to mention she actually had adoptive parents, you know the ones where the Maximoff name came from? Django who stared down the face of an Elder God and saved his daughter, and Marya who is actually still alive in Robinson’s Scarlet Witch run. But let’s make Erik and Wanda play wholesome daddy and his little girl and pretend they had this nice family relationship and quietly erase those who actually loved and cared for the twins because Magneto is the far more popular character right? Why don’t we replace Uncle Ben with Tony Stark while we are at it?

Can we just restore the blood ties and make them estranged biological family again? I like Wanda better when she took her allegiance and affection seriously.

And as much as I love Wanda for being a sentimental person, writers’ constant mishandling of her family relationship just makes me wish she is more of a stonehearted bitch who doesn’t give a damn.

What I’ve been looking for from the concept “dadneto”:

family feels

family dramas/conflicts

Mutants politics and society

What influences the what-ifs family dynamics have on the children, the grandchildren, and the father/grandpa’s character development

What I actually got from “dadneto”:

Wanda, Pietro, and Lorna(and Anya and Nina) were used as “props” just for the benefit of good che*ik

M-children were being cute morally pets or random troublesome brats or matchmakers for the benefit of good che*ik

demonizing/erasing Magda or Marya and Django or Ms. Maximoff for the benefit of good che*ik

sometimes I could find interesting family feels/conflicts fics, headcanons, what-ifs, etc. However it often turned out to be another “erasing/demonizing Magda/Marya/Django/Ms. Maximoff for the benefit of good che*ik”

Well… don’t get me wrong, I never hate the ship itself. I’m an old comic geek lady, so I saw the potential of the ship since TAS was aired in my country and then the Legion Quest(the premiss of Age of Apocalypse) happened in comics circa mid-90s even I didn’t into any non-canon ship in western media at that era b/c I was so young and naive. But I have issues with “demonizing canon love interests/children’s mother/adoptive parents who have hardly any fault on their side, for the benefit of fandom favorite (most likely whites)m|m non-canon ship” thing.
