It’s a small, crazy world we all live in! Yesterday thanks to the miracle of technology and @Ancestry DNA I was finally able to meet a distant cousin for the first time! Mateus popped up on my DNA relatives list (as well as my mother’s) a while ago. We exchanged a few messages back and forth and then became Facebook friends, and we have kept in touch ever since. Here’s the funny part- We both just got back to Brazil after living abroad AND we were both born in Campinas and we both now live in the city of Valinhos. Yet neither of us had any idea about each other’s existence until we both did the AncestryDNA test. Mateus is an awesome guy, very intelligent and gifted with languages. We share quite a few interests including the love for foreign languages and cultures and good food (we ate açaí yesterday and he introduced me to “suco de milho”). I love meeting new people and making new friends and connections! That’s what gives meaning to my life. Truly the best thing in this life aren’t things. Thanks for making time to meet and hang out, Mateus! Don’t you wish sometimes you were a kid again so you could just sit at home in front of your TV and watch your favorite cartoons for hours and had nothing to worry about? I definitely wouldn’t say I had the best childhood, but man, did I love my cartoons! It was sort of an escape from reality; it gave me wings to my wild imagination.
