sorry for the time it took me to respond to this lol (i am also keeping it in my ask box so, answering it like this)

thing is, it's a long term issue i've been having, and it's something that can't be solved with "just don't think about others opinion" cuz, like i said, even if nothing harsh is being said towards what i post, i still feel that sense of hostility coming from outside which frankly speaking most likely doesn't even exist and is something my brain keeps inventing. so i still have no idea what to do about it XD

i think i'm at the point where, if it wasn't for some of my most vocal followers/mutuals, i'd stop posting art. if not all together than 95% of the time

so i had this post (which i seem to have since deleted lol) in which i talked about me having trouble connecting with my original characters, not feeling like developing them further than the basic concept. and after 100+ hours into pathfinder wotr, having came up with a fleshed out character (backstory, relationships, little quirks, character arc) and becoming invested in her to the point of me wanting to bring her story to life in some art form...i think i found a solid answer.

it's all about restraints. like, when i'm confined by pre-existing world and story beats i can't alter too much, it gives me a sense of direction. what i can and can't do. and it really helps coming up with events big and small, that in turn flesh out the character, which in turn make me invest in them more.

with completely original stories, it feels like there are no restraints. like, the world, the story, it all belongs to me alone. i can do whatever, and no roleplaying police will come knocking on my door. it's kind of like being dropped in a middle of an ocean. no boundaries...and no sense of direction XD guess i'm a pool person after all lmao
