Power is Power
Yes this was the the tagline at the last abysmal season of Game of Thrones, but it is also something I have realized is an ultimately true statement. Power does not come from a business empire the size of Rome. It does not come from bedding as many women as you possibly can. It does not come from physical strength or lack thereof. It comes from within. I have seen men with all or some of these qualities crumple into pathetic pools of self pity/weakness/deference to authority the minute they are faced with situation that makes them question their confidence/status. And the truth is they do question it, all the time. These external accoutrements will never no matter how vast turn the weak man into the strong in the same way that lack thereof will never turn the powerful man into the weak one. Some people spend their whole lives and never learn this. You see CEO’s of the biggest companies tremble and quake when they think they have lost favor. And you see the common man refuse to be moved when he feels his rights being infringed. As I said, Power is an intangible energy that comes from within. It is synergetic and renewable. Those with it will never be cowed by the world, and those without it will always furrow their brow in contemplation about themselves and show deference to people who do not deserve it. Power is Power. Once you have it, it cannot be taken.
