Hi! My name is Nicole and I'm an audio engineer for Kingdom Keepers Let's Read Rewritten. I joined this project in early 2024, and I'm one of the people responsible for editing lines together and making them sound pretty, as well as adding in background music or sound effects. My qualification to handle such things is that outside of this project, I record and produce my own music. (Shameless self-promo: I released an EP last year called Demonology!) I'm so excited to be working on this project with fellow Kingdom Keepers fans -- our voice actors are especially passionate and amazing, and I genuinely have so much fun working on edits because they're delightful to listen to! We were talking about random The Awakened stuff on discord today, and I fell down the memory lane that is my folder with TA pre-release & concept images that I'd saved. And then I noticed something...

This flower brooch is in no less than five different outfit concepts, none of which are in the game. But it sure seems like the artist wanted to say something. My first thought was "green carnation", having dismissed a violet because it's certainly not one.

I've been pointedly refusing to use the term "content creators" to refer to artists anymore, because I want to make art for me and the people I care about, not the endless demands of the algorithm. I'm not trying to Produce Content, I want to make art.

So it is deeply, deeply irritating when I use the word "artist" in a post and it gets endlessly reblogged with people asking "but what about writers? but what about actors? but what about musicians? but what about [x]?"

All types of art are included in the term "artist," god damn it. "Artist" does not just mean "someone who draws pictures."

If you give this woman money, it will go to transphobic causes. If you give this woman a platform, she will use it to boost transphobic causes. This isn't a "well nobody's perfect" or "well x other creator also did something bad once" situation, this is an inordinate amount of influence for a creator to have, and supporting her by word or wallet actively hurts trans people.
