Speaking Openly
It's been far too long since you've been able to speak to Loki, openly and with your whole heart on your sleeve.
Now you get your opportunity.
(Mild spoilers for Endgame!)
Inspired by this prompt!      If someone would have told me in 2011 that I would still be in Loki hell in this, the year 2019, I would neeeever have believed them. Crazy how time flies ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Read it on AO3!
The dim grey sky was a nearly sure sign it would rain.
You certainly hoped it wouldn't, or the visit you were making today would have to be cut short. Nevertheless, the telltale whipping of wind around you offered little sense of hope.
Not that there was much left of that nowadays.
Dry grass crunched under your feet as you traveled to your destination. There was someone you had to meet up with, a discussion between you long overdue by this point. Long had the two of you danced around seeing one another, avoiding having to face all the unsaid feelings shared between divided lovers. You were tired of it. Once you had been angry with him for pushing you away, and furious with yourself for not pushing back harder. But the time for anger was long over, you conceded. Now, you just wanted to talk. No matter how candid, how cruel, how heartbreaking it was. You needed to speak with him.
The confidence that had driven you began to wane, however, as you approached the spot Thor had told you his brother was. Unable to find Loki yourself, you had asked Thor where it was that Loki had taken to resting. With glassy eyes he had given you the directions to this place, a solitary cliff with a rocky bottom a relatively short walking distance from New Asgard; nothing around but the crashing of waves and the open plains. You couldn't help but think of how it suited the trickster. You paused a moment, taking a deep breath to steel yourself before your cowardice drove you to run away from this; to run from him. With a renewed confidence you strode to where Loki lied. You stared at him a moment, intense gaze fixated on your subject, before allowing yourself to soften. There was no need for a cold demeanor here. You took your bottom lip between your teeth, gnawing it lightly while trying to figure out what you needed to say. Loki had always been the one good with words, after all.
"...Hey." Well, not the smoothest, but it would suffice. You had gotten this far, so you might as well continue. "I've, uh...I've missed you." The lack of resposne from your lover was like a punch to the gut. You had assumed this would be the case, and yet your heart hurt no less from it. Since you were here anyways, you decided you would stay for awhile, storm be damned. Taking a seat on the grass, you looked at Loki a little longer, before absently twirling some grass between your fingers.
"Do you remember what you told me awhile back? When I was upset because my magic wasn't working like I wanted it to, and instead of telling anyone it was going wrong I just bottled it up? And then after awhile I got so worked up about it that I accidentally blew up a section of the library? I thought that librarian was going to kill the both of us then and there..." A bittersweet laugh escaped your lips, and you shook your head at the memory. The ensuing chase had been a massive adrenaline rush, and you were sure the only reason you hadn't gotten an even harsher reprimand from Loki was because the librarian had been plenty terrifying enough.
"After we had gotten away, you grabbed my shoulders and made me look you straight in the eye. You told me to come straight to you if I ever did something I couldn't fix. So, uh...here I am."
The wind picked up and tousled your hair as you swallowed hard, turning you head to look away from Loki. Squeezing your eyes shut, you took a few deep breaths, and when you opened them once more you couldn't bring yourself to look at him.
"I messed up this time, Loki. It's, uh...it's bad. Really bad. And I don't think that there's any way you can fix this one." Fingers picking at the sleeves of your jacket, you cursed the tears that began to fill your eyes, facing Loki again with a bitter smile. "I don't think there's a way that anyone can fix this."
The silence was eating away at your heart now, the strength in your foundation crumbling away and replaced with a hollow hole where Loki's own heart once filled. You felt a rain drop fall onto your hand, then another onto the tip of your nose. Wiping away a drop from under your eyes, you couldn't be sure if it was a tear or a raindrop, and a desperate laugh jumped out of your throat.
"Look, my love. Even the sky cries for us."
Rain drops fell ever steadier as you sat, listening to the waves crash against the rocks and the wind howl around you. A distant chime sounded from a boat drifting toward New Asgard, and as your gaze wandered to settle upon it, your mind drifted to its crew. Who have they lost? Did they feel the same deep sorrow that crept into your mind at every turn?
"The fault..." You started weakly, then cleared your throat to try again, "the fault isn't mine alone, this time. Although I find myself trying to blame myself for everything, regardless. It would drive you absolutely mad to deal with my moping." A fond smile drifted upon your lips as you imagined Loki having to listen to you whine. The way he would roll his eyes, telling you in a none too kindly way to suck it up and deal with it. How he would show you little sympathy, but still stroke your hair as you gave him a hug that you so desperately need. How you would take his hand and drag him to your bedroom, hearing only teasing about how bedding him wouldn't solve all of your problems, before you would make him shut up with your lips pressed to his and the closing of your door...
A sob escaped your lips before you could stop it. "I'm so sorry, Loki."
Tears flowed from your eyes unbidden now, mixing with the steady rain and dripping onto the grass. You voice shook as you continued addressing him. "I don't know what I could have done, but I'm sure I could have prevented something like this from ever happening. M-maybe there was something I could have done to stop Thanos. Maybe I could have tried to get a stone myself a-and kept him from ever getting them all. What if there was a way I could have killed him myself, and I never did? What if all this is all my fault, Loki? What if I could...I could..." You hiccuped through your tears, fighting to get the rest of you words out.
"What i-i-if I could h-have prevented your death?"
Another sob pushed through and you leaned on the ground, trying to fight off the agony pulsing through your heart. Your hand raised to brush against the mossy rock that Thor had chosen as a head stone for Loki's "grave", the lack of body making it hard to set up a proper burial site. Desperately you tried to sense any bit of Loki's magic, anything that could possibly tie him to the spot, but it was silent. He wasn't here, just as you already knew. His corpse was drifting in space somewhere, and all the magic would be long gone. This visit was just a confirmation of what your heart didn't want to comprehend.
"Everything is gone, Loki. Everything we've ever known changed, in the blink of an eye. Everyone is just trying to come to terms with what's going on, and we're really not doing so well at it. Honestly, you would probably think we were all so pathetic." You sniffed and wiped pointlessly at your tears, shaking your head. "I would say you were right, but...I really don't know where we go from here."
Around you the wind began to pick up, sending a chill right through you to settle within your bones. Tugging your jacket closer to you, you tried to find any warmth you might have had left, but you knew it would be futile. Your visit was going to have to come to a close. Nodding solemnly to yourself, you tried to reign your emotions back in.
"I know that recently things between us were kind of weird. I suppose that was going to be kind of a given, considering our lives in general were, uh...really weird." You chuckled. That certainly was an understatement. "But I hope you knew, even at the very end, no matter how things stood between us..." You swallowed thickly again, trying to keep your tears at bay for these last few precious moments, "I hope you knew that I loved you. That I always loved you. And that I always will."
A bout of thunder rolled above you, and you knew your time here was up. Pressing a kiss to your fingertips, you rested them once more upon Loki's rock, before rising to stand. Lifting your hood and shoving your hands into your pockets, you began your farewells.
"I should be going now, I guess. Back to New Asgard. We're trying to pick up the pieces the best we can." You stared at the town in the far distance, grimacing. "It's nothing like Asgard was, that's for sure. We're trying to make it livable, at least, but uh...Thor is really not taking this well. At all. I think even you would be sparing him some concern if you saw him. Yeah, it really is that bad." Shaking your head, you turned back to smile wryly at Loki. "I'll try to help him the best I can. Enough for the both of us. And I'll try to visit you more often, it's just...it's not easy."
The boat arriving in New Asgard was nearly docking now, and you sighed. "They're going to want my help. I really do have to go." You started backing away, not quite ready to turn your back on your love until you were fully finished. "I love you, Loki. Try not to get into too much trouble without me, understand?" A strong gust of wind nearly blew you over, and you scoffed, "I'm just going to take that as a sign, or something. I'll see you later."
Tromping your way through the wet grass, you ran your sleeve over your face, clearing off the traces of your breakdown. While you still felt the pain in your chest, you also felt some of the guilt lift from your mind. You had got to say your piece, and for now that would have to be enough. There would always be a Loki-shaped hole in your heart, but now was the time to learn to live with it. After all, if there was an afterlife you were going to meet him in, you would never live down the mocking you would receive if you didn't press on.
For him, you would continue. And for Thor, and the rest of your friends, you would live on.
And for all of them, and yourself, you would thrive.

Worth It
You go to visit Papyrus at the start of his shift.
It's really cold, but you can deal with it. For him.
...but if it could stop being cold, just for a bit, that would be really nice too.
Read it on AO3!
It was a quiet morning in Snowdin. Many monsters had yet to stir from their homes, and all those who had were low on energy. Each were happy to give a smile and a brief greeting as you passed on your way out of town, but that was about all you were going to get for now. Which was fine by you. You were more than happy to enjoy the quiet and take in the atmosphere around you. Taking a final step from the bridge, leaving Snowdin and entering the forest, you appreciated the small crunch you boots made against the snow. You shifted the two mugs you were holding into the crook of your arm so you could pull your scarf further up your nose, before readjusting so you could hold both containers to warm your ungloved fingers.
A brisk wind passed through your jacket, and you shivered as you picked up your pace. As peaceful as this walk was, you couldn’t help but wish Papyrus’ sentry station could be closer to town. It would make it so much easier to visit at the start of his shift, not to mention the extra time you would get to sleep in if it wasn’t such a long walk...
He was worth it, though. You stood up a little straighter, tightening your grip on the warm drinks in your hands. The thought of brightening Papyrus’ dull shift made you feel a surge of determination, and as you passed greater dog’s station with a quick wave, you remembered the journey was worth it. For Papyrus....
But couldn’t it be just a little less cold?!
Navigating Sans’ traps wasn’t too tricky, and you were grateful that it gave your mind something else to focus on. Something in the back of your mind began to warn you that you were being watched, but looking around, no one seemed to be near. You shook off the feeling, readjusting your winter gear after navigating a path puzzle.
It only took another minute for you to find the source of the feeling. As you continued your trek, a giant splotch of orange entered your peripheral vision, and you only had to look up to see who it was.
“I’m about ninety-nine percent sure you're late for work.” You spoke with a wry smile, handing one of the mugs to Papyrus. A bony hand took it from you, and you took the opportunity to take a sip from your own mug.
“Really? That doesn’t sound like me. You must be thinking of someone else.” He replied.
“Of course, my mistake. I apologize for the mix up.”
“You’d better, trying to ruin my good name with those sorts of accusations? Absolutely disgraceful.”
You let of a bark of laughter, bumping him with your arm and grinning up at him. He shot you an easygoing smile of his own, bumping you back in return.
“You know, if you’re gonna skip out on your work anyway, you could have at least told me to save me from walking all the way out here.”
“I’m not skipping, I’m patrolling. It's my job.”
“Oh, yes, of course. Sans would be so proud."
The pair of you walked in comfortable silence for a few minutes, enjoying your drinks and each others presence. You removed one hand from the side of your mug, reaching instead to take Papyrus’ hand in your own. His fingers gave yours a squeeze. “You got any plans tonight?”
You took a moment to pretend to think, making a thoughtful sound, before releasing an exasperated sigh. “You know what? I’m actually totally busy tonight. I’ve got this date with my tv, it’s gonna be super romantic, I’m really looking forward to it.”
Papyrus shot you a side-eye, but you recognized the glint of mischief in it before he returned his gaze straight back to the path. “Ok.”
You walked for a a bit more, neither one wanting to give into the other’s bait...until you finally gave.
“But, y’know, if you have any other ideas planned that you wanted to ask me about, I could always see if I could shift some things around, move my date earlier. I can be flexible.”
Papyrus took a long drag from his mug, leaving you waiting. He lowered it again, glancing at you, and the mischief in his eyes returned tenfold. “Nah, it’s fine.”
You blanched at him, his amusement rolling off him in waves. How dare he turn your joke back on you so skillfully? Had he no compassion?!
As you pretended to be mad at him, your long walk finally came to an end, reaching Papyrus’ sentry station. You crossed your arms as you leaned onto the counter, grateful to be done walking. Papyrus rounded the station, taking his position opposite you. He drummed his phalanges against the wood as he delighted in your frustration, before finally taking some mercy on you.
“This is completely unrelated, of course, but I'm gonna pop in at Muffet’s tonight. Probably around 6. If someone wanted to join me, I would consider getting a table and making a whole night out of it.” He shot you a wink as you grinned at him, fighting the hints of a blush on your cheeks. You pushed your mug around on the counter a bit, not quite able to look him in his eye sockets as you replied.
“Well, I’ll have to keep that in mind. If I run into someone who’s interested, I’ll let them know.” Now you looked him straight on, both of you sporting matching grins on your faces. Thoughts of how much you wanted to lean in flitted through your mind.
“Good morning, you two!”
Sans' voice rang clearly through the morning air, and you turned to send him a smile and a wave. “Good morning, Sans. How are you?”
“I’m excellent, thank you! I’m quite excited to see you at your post, Papyrus!”
Papyrus looked positively scandalized as you stifled a laugh. “Why is everyone out to ruin my character this morning? I think I need to take a break to recover.”
Your laughter was nearly drowned out by Sans’ efforts to scold Papyrus, lecturing him on his work ethic. As you calmed down, you watched the scene in front of you unfold, the joy within you was more warming than any winter clothing ever could be.
Yes, the morning walk was certainly worth it.

The Perfect Way to Start a Morning
Your day starts off as pure, relaxing bliss.
Then Sans turns it into the kind of morning that only Sans can bring.
Read it on AO3!
As the morning sun fanned faintly through the bedroom blinds, your eyes fluttered open, the light casting bars of golden sunshine onto your relaxed, blanketed form. It was with a smile that you closed your eyes again, a contented sigh escaping you as you stretched your arms and legs. The birds were chirping a cheerful little melody from outside, and you found yourself incredibly thankful that it was your day off so you could take your time to enjoy such a beautiful morning.
The question of what time it was briefly entered your mind, and as much as you wanted to stay in this moment of peace, your curiosity eventually got the best of you. Blindly reaching across the side of the bed, your hand smacked your end table a few times before your fingers finally found, and were able to grasp, your cellphone. Dragging it up to eye level, you winced as your eyes tried to adjust to the screen's brightness, before finally getting to see the time. 9:22. While you had certainly slept in well past the time you would normally get up for work, it still wasn't late enough that you felt as though you had to get up, as opposed to enjoying the cozy warmth of your bed a little longer. You made the decision to lay in bed just for a few more minutes, playing a couple apps until you decided you were awake enough to brave getting up.
A couple games later, you finally began to concede that perhaps you should begin your day. You took a moment to figure out what it was you wanted to do first upon getting out of bed, eventually settling on preparing yourself a nice warm breakfast; something to celebrate such a beautiful day for relaxing. You swiped your finger across your phone's screen to close your game, and were about to turn your screen off entirely when your phone vibrated with a text.
Bonehead: what do you call it when someone is doing a good job at being sad at a funeral
You forced yourself to bite back a giggle as your fingers typed your reply, silently shaking your head at your boyfriend's antics. Of course he would start the day off like this.
You: I don't know, what do you call it? Bonehead: good mourning
You groaned and covered your face with your palm, failing to cover up the snickers that fell through.
You: You're absolutely awful Bonehead: no im sans You: Stop it! Bonehead: you cant make me You: I so can Bonehead: nuh uh You: Yes!! Bonehead: nope You: You just watch me! Bonehead: id like to thnx
You felt your face grow warm before shoving it into your pillow, groaning before you let a grin split your face. No matter how terrible Sans' jokes were, you were still a sucker for them. And him, to be honest, but you would never admit that quite as easily. You rose from your pillow suffocation as your phone vibrated again.
Bonehead: whats for breakfast You: Who said I was going to make you anything? Bonehead: cmon Bonehead: you gotta You: I don't have to do anything! Bonehead: if you dont ill starve Bonehead: thatll be it for me Bonehead: plz dont make me starve You: The first thing you say to me this morning is a joke like that and you expect me to make you food? Maybe you deserve to starve Bonehead: you wouldnt Bonehead: you loaf me You: ...you get nothing!!! Bonehead: cmon ur just salty Bonehead: plz listen to raisin You: No you did this to yourself! You're the one who got yourself into this jam! Bonehead: that was intentional right
It was. You would never tell him that.
You: I'll make you breakfast under one condition Bonehead: ill do anything You: Actually talk to me!! I'm lying right beside you ya dingus Bonehead: hey you coulda spoke up at any time Bonehead: this isnt all on me
You allowed yourself to heartily laugh this time, gently tossing your phone onto the bed beside you and turning over to face the lazybones you called your boyfriend. Sans grinned back at you from across his shoulder, turning over toward you in kind. Arms reaching to wrap around him gently, you pressed a gentle kiss to his mouth before snuggling into his clothed shoulder as he pressed his teeth to your hair.
"Good morning, smart ass." You mumbled against his shirt, closing your eyes to properly enjoy the feeling of his warm hug. Breathing in deeply, you could smell all the little scents that made him so unique; it made you felt at home. After allowing yourself a moment to enjoy being with him, you pulled away to look into his eye lights, pretending to glare as you did. "Make your case for why I should share any of what I make."
"Cause I'll get up and keep you company instead of just laying in here while you do it. Maybe I'll even set the table while you're not looking. Who knows? It's a crazy world out there." Sans grinned easily at you, and a wink of one of his eye sockets was enough to make you break your faux anger, grinning up at him in return.
"Yeah, okay, you got a deal. I'll go get the oven started." You wouldn't concede quite so easily though. A little bit of teasing was still in order. Making a show of grabbing your phone, you moved to make it look like you were going back to your side of the bed to get up, but instead you straddled him, taking your sweet time and shooting him a wink before you clambered off his side of the bed. As you padded out of the room, you made sure to do your best to look good doing it. Sans let out a low chuckle as he turned to kick his own legs off the side of the bed.
"You know, if you're trying to start something like that, you'll have to crumb back here." He heard your footsteps down the hall stop abruptly, before starting back toward the bedroom, heavier and more hurriedly than before. Your face peered around the door frame, eyes nearly shut with how hard you were squinting at him through your scowl.
"If I crumb any closer, I'm going to beet you with your own damn pillow."
Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed it!

Prompt
“I’m having medical emergency and I need your help right now.”
“This is the third time this month you’ve called me thinking you’re having a heart attack and it was only acid reflux. I am not-” the character paused, removing the phone from their ear to look at the text message that just beeped. It was a picture. They almost dropped the phone, but managed to bring it back up to their ear.
“Now you understand my concern,” the other character said dryly.
“I’ll be right there.”

May I have some camping AUs? (The kind with tents, not with cabins)
(I was struggling a bit so I included both camping AUs with tents and cabins.)
Camping AUs
“i hate all things bugs and pretty much all of nature but, I still agreed to go on this trip with you because of how enthusiastic you are about it all; not because I care about you or anything.”
I don’t know how you’re able to sleep at all. We’re literally outside, and surrounded by creatures. Oh my god, BEARS. There could be BEARS. Yet, here you are, sleeping like a baby!
“OH MY GOD WAKE UP I THINK SOMEONE IS OUT THERE TRYING TO KILL US”“…it’s probably just a deer.”“A DEER?????”
Ok, I just stepped into my cabin after going swimming and the whole place is trashed. Now, I don’t know who did this, but I will get my revenge.
Oh shit, we trashed the wrong cabin. Damn, and they’re cute as well!
“We have to bunk and we hate each other.”
You’re across me in these camping grounds and you seem to be by yourself but, I’ve been watching you trying (and failing) to put up that tent for fifteen minutes now and I don’t know how much longer it’s going to be before either you give up or I laugh.
I went over to go help you and you just looked at me and burst into tears. Woah. I’m assuming you’re crying about more than your incapability to put up a tent. Want to talk about it over a cup of hot chocolate?
“…Only you could melt pasta.”“It’s a lot harder than it looks, ok!”
We thought we heard something outside our cabin so we went outside, petrified, to take a look and the next thing you know the door slams shut behind us. Neither of us have a key. Oh dear.
Hey, I think I found some tents round the back of the cabin, fancy a bit of outdoor camping for once?
It started raining and we didn’t think it was gonna be so bad so continued to set up our tent but ten minutes later it’s pouring with rain and we’re hiding out in our tent.
It’s been five minutes and I’m guessing it’s gonna be five minutes before this tent breaks and blows away.
Did you just sneak over to my camp and steal all our marshmallows? Do you think you’re invisible or something?
You forgot to bring two tents so I guess we’re sharing a tent now.
I deliberately forgot the tent so this could happen.
“No way are you stealing our spot, we always camp here.”“We were here first!”
“Did you tear our tent?”“It was a bear.”“You’re such a bad liar.”
I was laughing at you for like five minutes because you’ve been trying to start a fire by rubbing some sticks together. You do realise that we have a lighter, right?
NO. I refuse to be beaten by some stupid sticks!
We haven’t seen each other in a while so you suggested a camping trip to “reconnect.” You also said that we should “disconnect” from the outside world so that meant no phones, I thought that was a joke but when I took my phone out in the middle of a hike; you grabbed it and chucked it into a lake. What the fuck is wrong with you?
We’re lost, aren’t we?
We’re 100% lost but I’m not going to let them know that. So, I’m gonna keep proudly marching through this field of cows like it’s no man’s business. Yes, this is the right direction!
We didn’t make it to the campgrounds before nightfall so just decided to set up camp here by this lake. And wow, is it pretty.
My tent broke. Can we share a tent?
You’ve literally eaten nothing but s’mores for the last day and a half. Here, let me cook something.
“Did you seriously just pack marshmallows and biscuits?”“We could go hunting, if you’d like. I saw a rabbit somewhere around here earlier.”“…Oh my god.”
You covered yourself in about fifteen different types of bug repellent before we went on the trip. You actually look like a shiny blob of a human person.
Turns out, you’re allergic to bug repellent and now you’re a shiny, bumpy, blob of a human person. Ok, maybe you’re not finding this as amusing as I am.
You made it sound like you knew everything about survival in the wilderness. You pulled out a penknife as a joke to say that you’re the “new Bear Grylls” after a few seconds of joking around, you managed to cut yourself and now the tip of your finger has basically fallen off whilst pouring out blood in the middle of the campgrounds. Yeah. A real survivalist, you are.
send in requests!
Please tag/credit me in any work you may use these prompts for! I’d love to read it.

About this blog
Hello, I’m Oriphine!
I enjoy writing reader inserts as a hobby, and I hope you enjoy reading what I write!
Please no NSFW requests!
I will write for both male and female characters!
The fandoms I write for are:
-Breath of the Wild
-World of Warcraft
-Undertale (Undertale, Underswap, and Underfell)
-Stardew Valley
-Star Wars
-The Marvel Cinematic Universe (not the tv shows though)
-Harry Potter
-Persona 5
If you want to know if I write for a fandom that’s not listed, please feel free to ask! This list is certainly not the end all be all of what I’m willing to do, and while I may not be comfortable listing some fandoms just because I haven’t been keeping up to date with them, if you ask for a character and I think I can write it, I’ll happily do it!
I think that’s all for now! Please feel free to drop something into my ask box, I’ll be happy to have you!
